The location is ideal if you want to be right in the Medina market area and close by all of the sites and attractions. The building and the rooms are gorgeous and you do feel like you've gone back in time but the rooms are modern to today. The staff were very friendly and helpful to make recommendations for nearby restaurants and shops. The breakfast was served for you personally each morning, a big thank you Muhammad Ali (not the boxer) and Asma for the kind and delicious start to each day. I took one of the "tours" that the hotel offers, it was more so a driver to get you to the destination than a tour in every sense of the word but still very helpful and a great experience. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay and would recommend the Palais for anyone that wants an authentic and historic stay in Tunis.

Room absolutely amazing. Reception staff friendly. Breakfast fine first morning, except for the coffee. We received coffee after having finished the big and delicious plated breakfast. The huge coffee machine was used to foam and heat UHT milk to mix into our coffee made with cheap freeze-dried granules. Not drinkable. 2nd morning, we had been confirmed a packed breakfast to pick up at 6am for a multi-day tour. When our driver arrived, nothing was prepared, we were told sorry and that bf was available at 7am. I said it was confirmed and asked for at least fruits and bread for the day in the desert. The reception team member rushed and grabbed some fruits for us. This is not good enough for a luxury hotel in this price category. The rest was great. But without a good coffee in the morning.. ;)

The idea of turning an old Riad to a hotel is a nice one. Beautiful architecture but the beds, the bath room, the doors into the rooms, the furniture they all need upgrades. You can have the charm but not provide comfort. As nice as the ceiling or the entrance door, etc were, the door to the room was so hard to open and close. The bathroom door wouldn't lock l, the hotel lobby had an old crooked table in the middle of the room, dix these things. It's just unsettling.

Lovely ambience, great service. The only negative was the car organised for the airport transfer was not upmarket apart from the price. A disappointing end to my stay.

We stayed in Tunis for three nights and absolutely loved this beautiful, historic hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and felt very safe. I was specifically looking for a traditional dar experience, and this place was perfect! The hotel staff was friendly and easy to communicate with. Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and the room stayed quiet at night, which made for a great sleep. Breakfast was included and was quite good with a variety of pastries, cheeses, eggs yogurt and dried fruit and granola. I also booked a hammam spa experience on our last day—it was very enjoyable and something I’d recommend. You need to book 24 hours in advance. Leave plenty of time for the experience which includes a 30 or 45 min massage, plus hammam and gommage. We also dined at the hotel restaurant one night, which served a delicious and generous meal. The price was a little higher but it was very convenient for our dinner after a long day of touring. The hotel is located in the old Medina, so you’ll be dropped off by taxi at a nearby square, and from there it’s just a short walk (less than five minutes) to the entrance. It’s also within walking distance of a lively area where it’s easy to catch a taxi and explore the city’s sights. We booked a day tour through Viator and the guide met us at the hotel.
