Holiday Inn Express & Suites Garland E - Lake Hubbard I30 by IHG

Pool was not available which was a huge disappointment since it’s on the lake. This place is not clean. The carpet and hallways smell really bad. Elevators are barely working. Breakfast is a joke. If you don’t come right at the beginning you are out of luck. Literally 4 bottles of water and almost NO snacks or food available for purchase. Every amenity that you can think of was poorly done and our stay was not enjoyable.

They have horrible reviews so I wasn’t expecting much…however I was happy with the stay. Only preseason for 3 star is the pool was out.

The pool was broken, one of the elevators was broken, the AC didn’t really work, hotel was dirty and out dated. No drain for the tub. This as one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. 😕

Booked this hotel because it said they had electric vehicle chargers but they do not. Staff were not very attentive but the hotel is clean and simple.

For two days straight don’t have elevator

Lovely lake view. Nice room. The pool, although really pretty, was closed and it's August and very hot. Some of the soap and other complimentary items where empty.

Electric chargers were not working and they did not notify the guests. The room is labeled as non-smoking but we could clearly smell smoke in our room and we were not believed by the front desk receptionist. Told there was nothing they could do to help because we booked through a third party

nice place, good location. would have given 5 stars for all but the pool was out of service. Had i known that i may have not stayed there. Big dissapointment

The pool was closed and green.

Some how I thought I was booking a room with a sofa, turns out the booking went through as 2 regular queens, causing me to have to purchase a whole other room upon arrival. That sucked. Rooms weren’t bad, a but out dated but ok. Pool was closed. That was unfortunate because I brought my grand baby so she could swim. Overall, great location near the water, not exactly on the water. Although I now had 2 “lake view” rooms but couldn’t see the lake because of a huge tree. You have to be on the top floors to actually enjoy that Im guessing. Plus side, walking distance to some great food and bass pro shop.

Hole in wall. Very worn furniture, giving the feel of an old room. Room not vacuumed, found paper shreds on carpet. Hair in tub.

Dirty sheets, dirty towels. Breakfast was good. Close to Bass Pro shop and plenty of restaurants.

The hotel looks nice at first, until you actually start looking around. Everything was dirty, hair and paper in the drain of the shower, bed skirt was dirty and had hair on it under the mattress you could tell it hadn’t been changed, not one single corner of the room had been swept you could tell from cobwebs and dirt in all corners of the room, there was no remote, WiFi didn’t work, and to make matters worse there was a huge cockroach just crawling in the hallway. I was totally shocked by all these things, because it looks so nice.

Our room was filthy. Couch was stained, bathroom floor was filthy shower didn’t drain and room didn’t cool off

The room was Filty, couches had huge stains, gross “brown”stuff on the bathroom walls. Tile floor in was cracked and needed caulking. Balcony was under construction, printer in the long was broke.

The hotel and room were very dirty. The couch had stains all over the cushions on both sides and the pull out bed was full of food, wrappers, and stains. There was half eaten candy bars in the cupboard and makeup in the pillows. We ended up checking out and finding a new hotel. Staff was great and very professional and respectful.

Beg bugs and dirty beds

Lamps in room were broken, stains on couch. There was hair in the bed and bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned. Headboard on bed was damaged and so was wall. Chairs in breakfast area were damaged.

It seems as if Expedia Reservations give you the worse rooms in the hotel. I may need to stop using Expedia. The rooms (2) we got were stinky, old, stained couches, old peeling paint on furniture, dead spiders on walls, bathroom walls and doors were rusted and nasty . Hair on towels and dirt. This was horrible. The lobby was nice and it stopped right there.

The “lake view” room is not! I booked a lake view for my wedding night to be romantic. I look out the window & all I see are thick trees. Oh and squint to see the lake over in the corner. I can deal with the one huge water bug in the bedroom. But don’t advertise & make me pay extra for a lake view room that doesn’t have a lake view.

Our 4th floor room (#405) had a strong musty smell.

Everything was perfect, but the AC never got below 74. It was a hot and restless night

The room is amazing. Clean and specious. It surpassed all my expectations. Mind you, when i booked the room it stated suite but i didn't expect this much space. Thank you for the excellent services.

We are staying on the highway side and it is very noisy even at 3 am. I am sure it's much better on the lake side as far as view and noise go. It's is not a deal breaker but a bit too noisy. Place is clean and staff are very nice and friendly. My grips: No hot water just very warm. Took about a minute for the water in the shower to get warm enough for a warm shower. No water pressure, it took about 5 seconds to fill a cup for coffee at the sink.

Beautiful lake view. Easy check in. Nice room. it it is very dark - needs much more lighting!

Great except room with lights on was VERY DARK ! Weird. Need higher watts in bulbs

The property and surrounding area are great. The only problem is the room smells like an old cellar. Not sure if the smell was from the air conditioner or the carpet but it was overwhelming in two different rooms.

Room was ok, but there was kids or something above me that kept running and jumping till 11:30pm and started up again at 4am

Was given Room 420, AC did not work. Then I was put into room 401 and it was not a suite. Finally was able to get comfortable in room 414 after about 45 minutes. Hotel is not worth $200 a night. There is nothing luxury about this place.

The physical property itself is wonderful. Staff, Cecil - Head Housekeeper - however, need lessons in customer service and hospitality. Don’t ask Cecil or the younger man working the front desk for anything because you will likely interrupt their personal cell phone use and they obviously don’t like that. I was a stay over and was told at 10:00am that I would not be required to change rooms. Cecil then decided at 5 til 11:00am (check out time) that I would be changing rooms. When I asked for 15-30 minutes to pack my things, Cecil advised me that he did not have time for that and I would be out of the room at 11:00am and could check back in after 3:00pm. Cecil was rude, obnoxious, and proudly advised me that he makes the decisions and that he didn’t care if I contacted IHG directly or his manager because he “is management.” I forfeited my stay over as a result. Our company has had employees at this property for 112 nights this year - as a result of Cecil - I removed the property from our available hotels list. Management has yet to respond to my complaint. If you want a decent hotel that is reasonably comfortable and can handle rudeness, lack of concern about your stay, and have no special requests requiring staff to put down a cell phone, this is your place.

I asked for a room with a lake view and was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was good and one had choices ranging from a hot breakfast to pastry. Next time I need to get away I would choose to stay here again; however, it could use a bit of updating but the main thing for me was the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms.

Got to hotel at 10:30pm to check in, no one was at the desk, sign said they had stepped away (totally understandable as it was late). 45 minutes go by and finally a guy comes up (apparently coming in for his shift and was 10 min late he said.) by this time there are numerous gathered to check in and some with babies and small kids! First Gentleman said sir I feel like everyone needs an apology for the excessive wait. There are families with young children and we have all waited a very long time. (Mind you this man was not being rude or even raising his voice!) the employee looked at this man and said I don’t have to apologize to anyone and if your going to take that tone with me then I refuse to check you in and you can leave the premises! The man had already been checked in and was having to get a new room because his room had never been cleaned after the previous guest left! After he told the employee this he was told he would have to wait until everyone else had been checked in!!! I told the employee to get that man taken care of first before I was checked in. So go to my room and there is a hole in the bathroom wall and the next am there are ants in my drink that I had on the table!! The regular upkeep on this hotel has definitely been neglected! I will not stay at this hotel again simply because of how that man handled the situation! Having to wait close to an hour to check in is beyond ridiculous!

It was quiet! The bed was comfortable and the staff was amazing, kind and professional! Shout out to Travis who checked us in he was so kind and fun to interact with! Will definitely be back to stay here!

Started out very pleasant. The hotel was clean and located near the lake. Then the second day we lost water pressure for about 8 hours or more and we couldn\'t take showers or use water of any kind. That got fixed, and I gave room for an unforeseen issue that happened. I asked for a late checkout for Sunday as we were doing work in the local area for a church. The church did not adjourn until 12:00pm and we would not be able to return until 12:15. He told me, "I\'m sorry, check-out is at 11:00 and I cannot extend you past noon. I re-iterated my situation and that I would likely be back by 12:15 and could checkout by 12:30. He said "no" or we will need to charge you for another night stay with the credit card on file. In disbelief that he say that, I then politely tried one more time, emphasizing that I pay thousands of dollars a year and stay in Holiday Inn Express hotels all across the country for business. Still, he would not budge, so I asked to speak to the hotel manager. He then informed me that he was the hotel\'s, General Manager. It really made me sad for Holiday Inn Express that they had this unmoving beligerent GM working for them. It\'s a nice hotel, but if you have any issues and need to talk to the GM, let him know his reputation precedes him on the internet reviews.

Staff was great especially the kitchen staff.

I arrived late to the property and the lady that helped me at the front desk was fabulous. She was the only one on staff at 10pm, and was having to help me and other people at the same time. She handled it so graciously and professionally. My main issue with this stay is that the bed felt like I was sleeping on the floor. It was so firm, that I was uncomfortable. The sheets were clean, but the floor felt dirty. It is in a good area, with the lake nearby, which also brings lots of restaurant options, especially if you go one exit farther east. But in the parking lot you have several options, including Primos which offers good tex mex.

The front desk attendants on duty at check in were very rude.

We had a beautiful room with a lake view. The bed was very comfortable. The location is great with multiple shopping and dining options in close proximity. I highly recommend this property.

It was a pleasant stay, lots to eat right around the hotel. I would stay here again.

We had a good stay for 3N4D. Our room was standard double bed with refrigerator, microwave and satellite smart tv- visibly clean as well as the bathroom. Wish they have towel rack or more hook eventhough there's an underneath shelf from the sink. I loved witha built in body wash, shampoo & conditioner & also built in handwash soap & body lotion. The hotel is walkable to the lake or nearby store & resto even gasoline station. Closed to hway exit.

Nice clean hotel. Price was good and the staff was great. The breakfast was awesome, only drawback was the pancake machine was not working

Our stay was absolutely amazing. The complimentary breakfast was the icing on the cake!

Room decor was nice. However, the bathroom smelled like a sewer gas backing up. We were also put in the room right next door (same side) as conference room, which was loud and disturbing. When we arrived the property was not busy or overcrowded so I believe they could have put my husband and I in a better room or at least more peaceful. Also, our TV had a line across the picture which hindered the view and experience. Lastly, IHG has the best hot cinnamons rolls but this location served them cold out of the fridge. Most other food such as eggs were cold. Coffee containers were empty. The food was not presented well or appetizing. Even the bananas looked old. One of the booths seating had a large (5” inch) rio on the upholstery. It was unsightly and not inviting area. All around bad experience at IHG

Ask for towels and received 2 floor mats. breakfast was just eggs and cereal.

They didn't have breakfast because someone was absent from work. Okay, why don't you put someone else to work? the pool is closed and dirty, the property is neglected..

Our stay was just for a shower, a cool room, and sleep after our 50th-year high school reunion. All was good, yet the breakfast staff was overwhelmed about 9 am. Difficult time keeping up with enough food for about 30 minutes. Biscuits were as good as any fast-food restaurant. The room was in perfect order, cold A/C, and quite even on the freeway side.
