Genuinely not worth the money I paid. Getting what you normally get in all other hotels (even the lower budget options) was a nightmare. The spa staff refused to supply robes and tried to charge us to rent robes - the reception staff then made us aware they should be supplied for free - felt a bit strange for a more expensive hotel. No still water was supplied to the room - we were given 3 sparkling water bottles when myself and my friend cant drink this - getting our water supplied was such a challenge and required a trip down to reception!! We ordered chips for room service - we requested nor mal chips and mentioned we could not have truffle - after almost an hour of waiting they bought us Truffle chips so we had to wait and have them bring the normal ones - which were served only half full (looked strange as a portion). The room service waiter also ran away as he handed the plate to my friend at the door. Overall - for the price we paid DEFINITELY not worth this hotel. I would much rather spend a little more and stay at Edwardian

Very noisy rooms due to windows being propped open for makeshift a/c units. No gym, which is advertised and spa is small difficult to book. Breakfast is great and catering staff lovely.

If you’re going here for a spa day or to use the facilities you HAVE to either book a treatment or make sure you try and book a reservation at the time of booking the room for your 1 hour complimentary time slot (even this won’t guarantee use). We were really disappointed to not be able to use the facilities.

Really lovely hotel- staff were very helpful, rooms were nice and clean, and the entrance foyer smelt lovely. My only criticism was that we missed out on using the spa facilities because they only had late times to use it ie 7pm. We were going to see a show so couldnt go too late. Overall a nice night

We had a great one night stay (not our first or last) clean spacious room, great spa & really nice friendly polite knowledgeable staff. Particularly Litia on reception who checked us in & was most helpful in advising us to get NCP app where we could get a discounted price for parking overnight. What a bright, friendly, professional young lady she is. A credit to the staff at the hotel!

I had heard good things about the Midland but I would say it is pretty average. I booked the hotel partly because they say there is a gym, but be warned this is currently not open which was extremely disappointing. When I enquired about this at check in there was no offer of compensation. My room was cold despite putting thermostat up to max but as it was a twin room at least I could use the second duvet. Noise from tram late into the night. Spa very small. Room otherwise was reasonably nice and clean.

Room was perfect, staff were super friendly and professional. The food and spa are amazing and location is within walking distance to the Christmas markets, bars, restaurants and shops. It’s out 5th visit and we would recommend to anyone.

Beautiful hotel, professional and approachable staff. The room was spotless, went over the touch points with wipes and found nothing. The only down side was the shower water pressure, would have expected it to be much better.

Upon entering the room, our first unsettling discovery was not the warm welcome we had anticipated, but rather a neglected pair of dirty underwear on the top shelf of the wardrobe. This lack of attention to detail immediately tainted our impression of the hotel's cleanliness standards. It was not only off-putting but also deeply unsettling to find such an item in an area meant for guests' personal belongings. We did inform reception when we went out and they sent someone to collect the item. Throughout the night as well we could hear what seemed to be drainage from the rooms above which didn't help with a peaceful nights sleep. With these issues it really didn't live up to the price point they are expecting and next time will consider other hotels.

Delightful room and spotlessly clean. I liked the decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. The highlight was our evening in the 'Adam Field at the Midland'. Amazing tasting menu.

Our experience in the Double Double bed suite this year was not quite the same as our stay last Christmas. The room was not available early, so we left our luggage and did not check in until 9 p.m. Upon pushing the two beds together, we discovered broken glass, dust bunnies, a boarding pass from July, under the beds. There was also pepperoni under the coffee table, and we had to request the room be vacuumed again before we could settle in, which was not ideal after a long day with toddlers. This raised some serious health and safety concerns, especially with young children walking around barefoot. We brought these issues to the manager's attention the following day, and we received a refund for half a night stay long with a promise of a deep clean each day for the next four nights. If it were not for the room's setup with two pushable double beds, we might not consider staying here again, as the Hilton Piccadilly in Manchester is the only other option with a similar setup, though the rooms are smaller. The newer "renovated bathroom" rooms still seem a bit worn, and the air conditioning remains unreliable. One bed was noticeably higher and firmer than the other, and the television frequently lost its signal. On a positive note, they are generous with bottled water and you can request as many as you like, whenever you like. We did not have breakfast this time so cant comment on the food, but from memory its a well stocked full english. Not something you want everyday.

Disappointing Experience, Not worth over £500.00 for a two night stay – The Midland Hotel, Manchester Room We were allocated a room on the 4th floor with no view. On entering the room we were surprised at the size of the room around 3.5m x 4m (very small with a small ensuite). If you were sitting on the toilet your partner could not open the door without hitting your knees with the door opening. We paid over £500 for a two night stay. The ensuite had someone’s blood on the tiles that had not been cleaned (Pic listed below). The tiles on the ensuite were in poor condition with cracks etc. The carpets in the room were dirty and had not been cleaned. We also notices that we had no robes in the room (as listed online). The safe was locked and we could not access this to secure our personal belonging. We had to call reception to have the robes brought up and to get the safe reset and opened so we could use it. 45 min waiting to have these issues rectified. Furthermore, we also noticed some rubbish stuffed behind the television/storage cabinet that was only removed on the second day, this lack of attention to detail in terms of cleanliness and general appearance is quite disappointing and can be seen throughout the hotel when you look in more detail. Breakfast in the restaurant The next morning we went down for Breakfast and noticed that most of the plates were dirty, (some pics attached). The food was also cold. We arrived at the Midland and were instantly impressed with how lovely the staff were, friendly attentive. The bar area was beautiful and the cocktails fantastic. We arrived at our room and at first impression the room was clean and tastefully decorated. However,what I thought was a pattern on the bathroom tiles actually turned out to be mold all over the grout in the shower!!! It was disgusting. As well as this the air dryer was absolutely terrible and I would not expect this to be a 4 star hotel with the state of the tiles in the shower and the haidryer.
We arrived at the Midland and were instantly impressed with how lovely the staff were, friendly attentive. The bar area was beautiful and the cocktails fantastic. Even though it has recently been refurbished there was mould all over the bathroom and the shower tray didn’t drain. The Elmiss products were nice though. The net curtains were filthy and the room was dusty although it was well stocked. The bed was comfy but communication off the staff wasn’t great so we missed breakfast. When I rang for room service I was told I was to have put my request in via door hanger before 2. I told him I wasn’t told that even though I mentioned I wanted breakfast to my room when I checked in. He said it was explained on the welcome letter, It wasn’t! We were overall disappointed with our stay and won’t choose The Midland again.

Stunning hotel, the ambience and smell that greets you is gorgeous. Reception staff are excellent, food drink is amazing. The beds are the comfiest I’ve ever stayed in, like sleeping on a cloud. The only slight problem which is not in the hotels control is the noisy street and trams going all night. Other than that a perfect stay!

Rooms on street over looking tram were not for me I have stayed at the midland many times and the first time that my stay was not satisfactory Low rooms Tram side of hotel Are very noisy and I was woke up by the loud squeaks and running of the tram cars Room 222 When I stay again I will ask for a higher room and away from the trams Hotel overall is amazing hence I always stay here and the vibe of the hotel - the quality and the staff is superb

Lovely hotel, close to all the amenities. Great food and junior suite we stayed in was perfect. Only negative was the room was quite noisy due to a single glazed window being an old building so didn’t have a restful sleep.

Beautiful building and excellent room , very comfortable bed but you can hear the trams very loud which caused a early wake up alarm , very slow on the desk too when trying to retrieve our bags it took about 15 minutes of waiting

Beautiful hotel, lovely clean rooms. We have stayed a few times now but unfortunately got room 301 which is on the other side of the hotel and the trams run past upto midnight and then again from 8am. Very noisy. Feel the rooms on this side need upgraded windows. The sliding doors do not do anything.

The hotel is nice and the rooms are clean, however, we booked a superior room and asked for a quiet room as had a bad experience last time with noisy hvac system rumbling through the night, the first room was not a superior and was noisy so we asked to be moved, the next room was what I'd describe as a superior room, but hvac rumbling still there. The toilet seat was loose but other than that was clean. We had a night out and when we returned decided to have a drink in the lobby bar, we found most of the tables available to sit at had not been cleaned of previous glasses etc. We sat and waited whilst watching the one waiter make himself look busy whilst not doing much, in the end I cleared the table myself, then went to the bar to buy a round of drinks, £33 plus good tip. I just expected a little more, there were plenty of lobby staff hanging around not doing much but leaving the one waiter on his own. On check out we were asked how the stay was, I said "okay" when asked what the problem was I explained and was told the hvac is due to be upgraded soon, but no offer of any recompense. Probably won't stay there again,exoected more for the prices, it's not a premier inn.

We paid for a junior suite as it was only one night and first one away without the children, so wanted to treat ourselves. Room was lovely, but massively claustrophobic as it had two windows but you couldn't see out of either as there was a wall in front of them. A real disappointment after paying so much money for an upgraded room to then feel like you were in a windowless room. We didnt like this at all, wished we'd saved our money and had a cheaper room with a window.

Breakfast was a highlight, served in a beautiful room, plenty of choice, lovely staff. Reception and bar area very impressive and inviting. Room was nice but a little tired in parts and noisy from trams and air conditioning units. Lots of light coming in from corridor under the door but it’s a big old building so will have some imperfections but a lovely place to stay.

My second, negative-ish review of a hotel I very much liked! Most of the rooms I have had this year have had poor heating/air conditioning - either being poorly positioned for the room or simply not working. The room on this trip was just too cold to stay in comfortably with some level of heating but the unit was not working. I had left it on whilst I nipped out in the evening and on my return it had not sufficiently warmed the room and I found the panel kept resetting itself. I had to nip out again so popped by reception my way out to ask for a heater to be taken up - I was asked for permission for someone to enter and set up a portable heater which I gave. I returned an our later and it had not been done. I tried to call reception nd received no answer so went back down to reception to tell them it hadn't been sent up and explained we would enjoy drinks at the champagne bar - we had two each and spent another hour out of the room. On our return to the room I was angry and disappointed to see that it had STILL not been sent up. Tried to call again but no answer so I returned to reception and insisted that I would wait for someone and accompany them to the room. Finally, we had a heater. This is not an appropriate level of service when paying £156 for the night! I appreciate the hotel were hosting a couple of events, one of which looked like a Christmas party - even though, it was only the first week of November - but seriously, I stay at The Midland frequently throughout

Having experienced a few issues the hotel management spoke to me and I must say I was very impressed with how they handled things. Some people stood out especially the concierge, Bev in the breakfast room. Abdul on the night shift, Tom and Holly on the management team.

On first arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by the reception staff who very bluntly told us we couldn’t check in until 3pm without asking for our room number etc (it was 2pm). We sat down to have a drink and waited around 20 minutes to get served, I then went to the bar for drinks and food and got told it was table service. I explained I had been waiting a while so the barman took my order and told me it would be over to me soon. We waited another 15 minutes for 2 gins. We were allowed to check in at 2.45pm, the room was lovely and clean but it was cold so we turned the heating up. We got ready in our room and went to the awards night. When we got back to the room at midnight, there was a piece of card in our electric thing on the wall, as if someone had been into our room? We went to bed and we woke up numerous time as it was freezing cold in the room. We ended up getting up at around 6.30am and checking out shortly after. Wouldn’t stay again for the price we paid.

On arrival we where blown away the hotel looked amazing, we arrived a little early and the room wasn’t ready so we went out into Manchester and came back 30 minutes after check in time and the room still wasn’t ready everyone else around us where getting there keys and everything I had already checked in online the day before. As I approached the receptionist she said give me a moment she was very unapproachable and then she came back then said again give me a moment then came back and said oh your room isn’t ready yet 30 minutes after check in, to be honest it was really upsetting it felt to me like as if we shouldn’t be checking in as we don’t look the right type of people to be staying. I felt like checking out it sort of ruined our trip, we where late for our exhibition we had booked, later on we came back to the room and ordered room service food was nice but the tubs of mayonnaise one pot was empty as if it was used and then put on our order. The only thing that was lovely was the breakfast this morning the staff where absolutely fantastic and one lady who was waiting on was outstanding and made the effort with us and our daughter.

We come every year to the midland to visit xmas markets. Was disappointed this year. Waited a long time for check in, room very small, not the usual xmas trees etc which made atmosphere less christmasy, service at bar extremely slow. Will look for an alternative hotel next year for the first time in 12 years

It’s a great location and service was very willing. They struggled with numbers on Saturday afternoon - not fun to run the gauntlet of grumpy checking-in people as you pass them going to your room. Didn’t eat there as the main offering was a little out of my league, but no issue as Manchester has so many options. Breakfast was fine once marmalade was found!

The state at the Midland was enjoyable and majority of staff were exceptional, and Service was very good. We were only let down by the fact that we had to constantly remind people to refresh the towels and clean the room despite leaving out the appropriate sign.

Fabulous hotel. Staff are always extremely helpful, friendly and make you feel special. The room was very spacious and extremely clean. The reastaurant and tea room provided a wide choice of foods and the breakfast was delicious.

Everything was perfect. Breakfast was excellent. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location in the city centre next to St Peter's Square tram stop. It's busy outside but the hotel is an oasis of calm tranquility once you step inside.

Delightful room and spotlessly clean. I liked the decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. The highlight was our evening in the 'Adam Field at the Midland'. Amazing tasting menu.

Wonderful hotel, a Manchester icon, where I understand Rolls and Royce met. Everything very good, including price. I’ve stayed here before and I will stay again. One complaint: the vegetarian sausages were very poor by contemporary standards.

My wife and I just stayed at The Midland for two nights and overall we were very impressed. Four stars didn't feel quite good enough so we have gone for a five star "Excellent" review, even though there are a few things that could have been better. The hotel was very clean, really classy and just looked great - modern but classic. - Drinks were pretty expensive. A glass of very average Prosecco was about £12 or £13 and a bottle was £45. Better to get a bottle of similar quality for £6 to £9 at the Sainsbury's or M&S nearby if you're drinking in your room. - Toilet paper in the rooms was surprising poor quality despite looking nice. Really thin. - Had a major event on over the weekend and only 2 of the 3 lifts were in service, so checking out took ages to get off our floor. - We had an afternoon tea as part of a small event we were there for and they could have done better with allergy awareness and vegetarian/vegan options. That said, we still thought it was excellent overall. Very clean, very nicely decorated and classy, staff all very polite and helpful. The buffet breakfast was the best we've ever had, £18 but every option you can think of, all very fresh and great quality in a lovely dining room. We would definitely go back just for a treat even if we didn't have a reason to go to Manchester, it just felt really high quality and the room was a pretty reasonable price. We've paid slightly less for way worse before. Very highly recommended.

Historical and nice atmosphere, breakfast is so good, the room is clean and elegant, easily accessible to city center in Manchester. Very nice and highly recommended.

I have stayed at this hotel for years about 10 times a year but I have noticed the gradual decline of reception staff. They took more money than they should , ok a mistake but how I was told about how and why the reception was not intrested . then instead of a refund they took another £120 taking me overdrawn .the reception response was not intrested and said it would be rufunded two days later no refund , she said to speed it up call my bank . you dont expect to stand at recetion for over an hour having to cancel my uber whilst I waited , and not even a sincere apology , maybe Brittania hotels have took it over as their flagship as the duty manager and reception team must have been trained by them. the duty manager didnt even come out even after the third time they took money out .I will not return to the MIdland Hotel which is a shame , but as a company Leonardo hotels dont care about customers only their money .
