Comfortable room in easy walking distance from Buxton town centre and Buxton country park. A few pubs within minutes. Simple to check-in, although we were expecting to check in at 12 and were sent away for an hour (not a problem for us!) Easy enough to find roadside parking. Tea & coffee facilities and shower gel/shampoo a welcome touch. Mysteriously awoken by a fire alarm on our final morning which was quickly shut off… but otherwise very quiet making for a peaceful stay.

A couple of points would be to have a blind on the bathroom door window mainly because the morning light comes in and wound add more privacy. Also we found the mattresses uncomfortable and springy so didn't get a great sleep but its a lovely property and would stay again if beds were comfier

Well presented within walking distance of town centre, pub's and restaurants. Anne/Dave 😆(building manager) was lovely, she worked hard to keep the place so clean and nothing was a problem if you asked 😉 stairs were challenging to the top floor but we managed and wi-fi was a bit sketchy (none at all in our room) hopefully it will be sorted by the owner. All in all a lovely place to stay ♥️

It was value for money. The owners were pleasant. I hadn’t noticed that it was shared bathrooms until after I booked. That took me back about 30 years.

La chambre est incroyable! Romantique et calme. La maison est très belle aussi même s'il n'y a pas d'aires commune. La rue est superbe avec de grands arbres et tout près a pied du centre. Le température dans la chambre est un peu chaude et on n'a pas trouvé de moyen de la changer. On a adoré et on recommande!

Compton Guest House was comfortable and the check-in process was straight forward. The property is dog friendly in a pleasant area, and parking would normally be fine I suspect. I stayed there during a weekend of snow, ice and rain, so my experience of the parking situation and local area was mixed. Lots of information about places to visit and options for food. The room I was in lacked glasses and cutlery, and the socket for the kettle was awkward, but otherwise had everything you would need for a nice stay with a comfy bed and a clean and tidy ensuite bathroom. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it for a pleasant break in Buxton.

I rented a room here for a family of three, and it was convenient to where we were going and places to eat. It's in a lovely neighborhood. Overall, it was affordable and clean. Communication with the manager is quick and convenient, mostly through email. There's an onsite caretaker that we saw in the mornings. I highly recommend it for an affordable stay.

Staff member Anne was delightful , friendly and helpful . Very good ambassador for Compton house . Room was good , beds just a bit too high for getting in and out . ( for us smaller people ) bathroom shower was not draining away so could not have shower on second morning ! Not good !!! Tried to pull the core out to clean it but it was stuck in the plug hole !! Just a note - mirrors in room and bathroom are all too high . Good all round property and room with a good standard of decor . As I say Anne was the only person we saw and she was lovely to chat to about the area and where to go and see . Lovely lady .

We were allocated room 2. The en-suite is tiny. After talking with the manager we had one night in 2 and then moved to room 7. This room was much bigger and more importantly so was the en-suite. The property is within easy walking distance of the town centre and in a quiet street.

An excellent stay overall. My only issues were the height of the bed and bathroom mirror. I know I'm not talking (5' 8"), but getting off the bed was uncomfortable for someone of my height, with the bedframe digging into my legs. As for the mirror, if I was any shorter, I wouldn't be able to see myself to get shaved!

There is NO reception of any kind. You enter the building by keying in a number, previously sent to you by email, on a pad, and when you get in you find yourself in a tiny, silent lobby, with closed doors and the beginning of a flight of stairs. Apparently you are expected to know your own room number - well, if this was mentioned on the email confirmation of a reservation which I had made weeks earlier, it didn't register at the time, and the information wasn't given in the emails received a few days before I arrived. There were two phone numbers given for queries: BOTH, when I tried them, gave me recorded no-one-here-to-take-your-call messages. There was nothing for me to do but keep trying, and eventually I got a response, and was informed which room was mine. The room was clean and comfortable, certainly, but that is the bare minimum one expects. Plenty tea bags, Nescafe sachets and milk provided in the room, but no biscuits. That is ALL. I've given one star for "service", but it wasn't a case of terrible service - it was a case of NO service. Sorry, but I won't be going back to Compton Guest House.

An excellent overnight stop for Buxton. Walking distance from the town and opera house. Self check in worked fine. No staff on site and no breakfast available but great value for money for the quality of the room.

We stayed for one night and had no issues with the accommodation. Our host was very helpful.

I rented a room here for a family of three, and it was convenient to where we were going and places to eat. It's in a lovely neighborhood. Overall, it was affordable and clean. Communication with the manager is quick and convenient, mostly through email. There's an onsite caretaker that we saw in the mornings. I highly recommend it for an affordable stay.

Simple to check-in, although we were expecting to check in at 12 and were sent away for an hour (not a problem for us!) Easy enough to find roadside parking. Mysteriously awoken by a fire alarm on our final morning which was quickly shut off… but otherwise very quiet making for a peaceful stay.

We were allocated room 2. The en-suite is tiny. After talking with the manager we had one night in 2 and then moved to room 7. This room was much bigger and more importantly so was the en-suite. The property is within easy walking distance of the town centre and in a quiet street.

An excellent overnight stop for Buxton. Walking distance from the town and opera house. Self check in worked fine. No staff on site and no breakfast available but great value for money for the quality of the room.

Well presented within walking distance of town centre, pub's and restaurants. Anne/Dave 😆(building manager) was lovely, she worked hard to keep the place so clean and nothing was a problem if you asked 😉 stairs were challenging to the top floor but we managed and wi-fi was a bit sketchy (none at all in our room) hopefully it will be sorted by the owner. All in all a lovely place to stay ♥️

There is NO reception of any kind. You enter the building by keying in a number, previously sent to you by email, on a pad, and when you get in you find yourself in a tiny, silent lobby, with closed doors and the beginning of a flight of stairs. Apparently you are expected to know your own room number - well, if this was mentioned on the email confirmation of a reservation which I had made weeks earlier, it didn't register at the time, and the information wasn't given in the emails received a few days before I arrived. There were two phone numbers given for queries: BOTH, when I tried them, gave me recorded no-one-here-to-take-your-call messages. There was nothing for me to do but keep trying, and eventually I got a response, and was informed which room was mine. The room was clean and comfortable, certainly, but that is the bare minimum one expects. Plenty tea bags, Nescafe sachets and milk provided in the room, but no biscuits. That is ALL. I've given one star for "service", but it wasn't a case of terrible service - it was a case of NO service. Sorry, but I won't be going back to Compton Guest House.

Overall our two nights were good room and property were very clean and there's a kitchen for food. A couple of points would be to have a blind on the bathroom door window mainly because the morning light comes in and wound add more privacy. Also we found the mattresses uncomfortable and springy so didn't get a great sleep but its a lovely property and would stay again if beds were comfier

Compton Guest House was comfortable and the check-in process was straight forward. The property is dog friendly in a pleasant area, and parking would normally be fine I suspect. I stayed there during a weekend of snow, ice and rain, so my experience of the parking situation and local area was mixed. Lots of information about places to visit and options for food. The room I was in lacked glasses and cutlery, and the socket for the kettle was awkward, but otherwise had everything you would need for a nice stay with a comfy bed and a clean and tidy ensuite bathroom. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it for a pleasant break in Buxton.

The house is about 15 minutes walk from the train station in a quiet area. It took a couple of goes to gain entry using the touchpad. The room was clean and a good size. Bed was comfortable, although quite high. There is a good cafe, Eat at Number 5, at the end of the street.

Easy check in. Room no.1 modern en suite shower excellent. Beds high but extremely comfortable. Furniture dated but goes with the house beautiful stone houses. Easy walk into Buxton slight hill on way back. Would definately stay again.

If you set your standards at average, you won't be disappointed. The room was tired and needed smartening up. The cleaning was ok but could have been better. The bed was way too high for us although the mattress was comfortable. The bedding was not of a good quality, one of the pillowcases was coming apart. The towels were not good. There's plenty of tea and coffee in the room. We gave some feedback on day one but nobody got in touch with us.
