We stayed at the Beacon Hotel in Salter Path and had a great experience overall. Christina, our main point of contact, was incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish, which really set the tone for a relaxing stay. The price was very reasonable considering the location, just a short walk (about 400 feet) to the beach. That said, be aware that the stairs down to the beach are pretty steep, so it might be a bit tricky if you’re carrying a lot of gear or have mobility concerns. Our double queen room was the perfect size for two people. I could see it working for two adults and maybe two small kids, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a larger group. The room stayed wonderfully cool thanks to a quiet and efficient AC, which was much appreciated during the heat wave this part of the country was experiencing during our trip. It was clean, comfortable, and had just about everything we needed. A couple small improvements like more outlets between the beds, blackout curtains, and maybe a desk or vanity in the little nook near the bathroom would’ve made it even better. One thing to note is that sound travels easily through the walls, so you’ll likely hear folks walking by or chatting outside. It didn’t ruin our stay, but it’s something to be aware of. Outside, the hotel really shines. There’s a patio area with a shower to rinse off after the beach, plus an outdoor lounge area with games, beach toys, umbrellas, even an outdoor kitchen setup. They also offer two bikes.

Great place to stay! Easy boardwalk walk to beach. Lots of fun extras like cornhole, ping pong, bikes, and comfy seating. Owner even has towels, umbrellas, toys, sunscreen, and chairs you can borrow for beach. Very friendly environment.

The staff was top-notch! Theres just a couple minute walk up the boardwalk to get your toes in the sand. We also utilized the large grill in the courtyard which was very convenient. If it wasn’t so hot, we would have utilized the courtyard more because it’s super cute!! Our room wasn’t one of the upgraded renovated rooms, which was fine - there is certainly some wear and tear, as this is an older motel however, it was perfect for a focus of spending time on the beach. The location is also great as there is a Dollar General and a couple restaurants across the street you can walk to. We will definitely stay here again!

Just a boardwalk away from the ocean! The rooms were better than we expected. Very family oriented with a little hangout and yard game section! 10/10 would recommend this place to stay and we will be back!

This is a charming motel with so many lovely features. I grill, gas fire pit, beach umbrellas, swings, sooooo cute. You can walk to to eat and beach is just a quick walk down the path. The beach is in a quiet area. Love this place

Hotel staff super friendly. Great set up with games and grill for everyone. Loved the complimentary beach chairs, bikes and umbrellas. Having its own lit private walkway to the beach was a plus. Great location just 12 min from restaurants and stores. Will definitely go back!

Pricy for what it is. Rooms are clean, but painfully basic. Two beds- that’s it. Very small bathroom with no outlet. One small mirror that was coming unlaminated- very old. Insufficient linens for a two night stay. Rickety walk way over the dunes to the beach, which is a hike. There has been an attempt to update the property, but it’s a work in progress and that progress seems to have bypassed our room.

The room spelled, the bathroom was dirty, old fixtures, dirty washcloth. Used dry wall screws to install mirrors. The windows in the back of the room had no curtains, they were frosted but let the morning sun shine through. Cheap pillows and bed linens. Just not worth the money we spent.

This reservation was horrible from the time we received the first email from The Beacon. While the Hotels.com website said that the price included "all taxes and fees" we were immediately hit with $30 per night in additional fees. Then we found out that although the website said we were reserving a room with a kitchenette, the hotel was not giving us one. When we arrived at the hotel we were directed to a part of the property that was under renovations. There was no outside lighting. The smoke detector in the room was missing. The lock and latch of the door left a visible gap that you could see the parking lot through. We had to stuff it with paper towels to keep the cold out! The door is fully closed in the photos. And we found two cockroaches in the room immediately. (One alive, one dead). It snowed while we were there. For some strange reason, they swept the sidewalks in front of the empty rooms but not in front of ours. Even the though the place was largely empty in January, we were not permitted an option to move to another room or a refund because it was a non-refundable reservation. I won't use this site again because of the misinformation, and I won't ever stay at The Beacon again.

When we opened the door to the room, we were blasted with a strong smell of mold and mildew. The room had not been cleaned from the last guest. We went down to the lobby and received another room that had been cleaned, but still had the awful mildew smell. Luckily we only stayed one night because I can’t imagine dealing with that smell any longer. The bed was very springy and uncomfortable. The sheets were extremely thin. The shower was very old and dirty feeling. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. You deserve better than this.

We enjoyed staying here! The rooms were clean and nice, everyone there was super friendly and if we needed anything we didn’t have to wait long at all to get anything. The owner was there everyday and she made sure we enjoyed our stay. My kids loved it here! Will definitely go back and would recommend staying here to anyone.

Prices are a little high but the location is great, there is a path straight to the beach. Room #6 was renovated, 2 ACs, very clean and comfortable. There was no staff for check in or check out but we did not need it during our 1 night stay.

Not bad. It's walking distance to the beach. The property is renovating a few rooms at a time. My room had not been updated yet but it was comfortable. The location is good. No complaints

Check-in: fast and only $25 refundable deposit in case of damage. Room: We stayed in a long room that was recently renovated. Clean and basic no-frills room. Bed was nice (firm) and there was a lot of space for storage. There were no hooks for towels/clothes, but the manager said she was getting ready to install some soon. The shower pressure was good, plenty of hot water, and the shower had built-in shelves for holding toiletries. Beach: Fantastic! Pretty private for a public beach. The walkway takes you to a spot on the beach that’s a good distance away from the closest hotel and other beach homes, so it was really quiet and empty for July! Judging by the A/C units I would bet a majority of the other rooms have not been renovated. My room had a new mini split A/C and so did a few other units. The staff was top-notch! Theres just a couple minute walk up the boardwalk to get your toes in the sand. We also utilized the large grill in the courtyard which was very convenient. If it wasn’t so hot, we would have utilized the courtyard more because it’s super cute!! Our room wasn’t one of the upgraded renovated rooms, which was fine - there is certainly some wear and tear, as this is an older motel however, it was perfect for a focus of spending time on the beach. The location is also great as there is a Dollar General and a couple restaurants across the street you can walk to. We will definitely stay here again!

My girlfriend and I of almost two years stayed here for our first actual vacation together. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. My issue with this place was the lack of communication. Advertised free WiFi but the WiFi doesn’t extend to the newly renovated rooms with Roku TVs. How does that work? Didn’t tell me that when I checked in until I went and asked about it. I asked to be moved to a different room that would have WiFi and after loading everything in my car to move to the “new” room, was extremely disappointed to realize that it was a total downgrade. Old A/C window unit, bathroom window didn’t close all the way, bed was advertised as king size but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t because the mattress didn’t even fit the frame. I had to go back to the office and tell them I would rather stay in the previous room. Again, the staff were very understanding and helped me out. We ended up using our phones as hotspots so we could watch our late night shows together, but overall it was extremely frustrating. I’m not typically the type of person who gets upset over literally anything, but this place stressed me out. I would stay here again, especially considering it’s right on the beach, but understand that if you stay here, you are going to run in to some problems.

Poor front desk service. No one was there when we arrived there were notes left in mailbox which we didn't realize till we had waited 30 plus minutes. No staff even knew where the front desk staff were but she did try to help. eventually she checked the mailbox and we realized the keys were in there.I was charged for having a pet and didn't have one, and never received a refund despite asking for it 3 times. Dishes were dirty with dirt and hair on them and very little silverware was available. Outdoor area and private beach was nice. Wifi was terrible and wasn't given a password anyway. Probably because I made no contact with an actual person when I arrived. I never asked for it at a later time because the data on my phone was faster than the 2g they offered so just used that. I would not stay here again unless a lot of improvement was made.

Christina, our main point of contact, was incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish, which really set the tone for a relaxing stay. She spoke to us like old friends, and her kindness really made our experience special. The room was clean and cozy, and overall we felt very comfortable during our stay. We enjoyed staying here! The rooms were clean and nice, everyone there was super friendly and if we needed anything we didn’t have to wait long at all to get anything. The owner was there everyday and she made sure we enjoyed our stay. My kids loved it here! Will definitely go back and would recommend staying here to anyone.

We went to the hotel and they had septic backed up. We were refunded for the rest of our stay but they would not refund our first night even though we could not use the bathrooms. Rooms are very limited on outlets. We only had 1 working outlet in the room and it had the TV plugged into it.

Canceled our room an hour after check in because the “AC” wasn’t working in the room I booked after calling them at 3 to see if I could do early check in. It's a short walk down the trail and the beach itself was not crowded. It seems the place was recently remodeled, so there were a few things that were outdated or broke in our room or around the common areas, but that may also be on their list to get too. We'll definitely look into this place again for our next visit.

It's an old fashioned Motel, clean, great price, with a fantastic board walk through beautiful dunes with bunnies and the best beach! There's a high deck great for seeing the ocean long distances and 2 stories of stairs down to the beach, so good exercise for the legs - not for anyone who can't walk stairs.

Hotel staff super friendly. Great set up with games and grill for everyone. Loved the complimentary beach chairs, bikes and umbrellas. Having its own lit private walkway to the beach was a plus. Great location just 12 min from restaurants and stores. Will definitely go back!

Great family-owned hotel right on the beach! The property is very well maintained, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, and the direct beach access is a huge plus. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!

Older hotel that's been renovated nicely. The room was small but nice and it had everything we needed for our overnight stay. The owner was extremely nice and helpful and they had things you could borrow for the beach, like chairs and umbrellas. The beach and surrounding area in general were nice and quiet as well, which is just what we were looking for.
