Our stay greatly exceeded our expectations. The lodge would be quite a romantic getaway if we hadn’t been staying with two young children. The room was very clean and furnished beautifully. There was a living area downstairs that was stocked with games, books, and nice sofas with windows overlooking the big lake. It was a short drive into downtown Grand Marais, and a short hike to the Cascade Falls. The restaurant next door offers a discount with your stay and is quite tasty. The front office staff were all friendly. I hope I get the opportunity to stay here again.

The staff was welcoming. I stayed in the main lodge. There is a cozy, large sitting area with comfortable chairs and couches to enjoy the view of the lake. They have books and games for you to use. There is a porch with chairs out front to use, unfortunately, it was raining while I was there, so I didn't sit out there. There is a rec room in the basement with a pool table and games that would be good for kids on a rainy day. My room was a cozy retreat. There isn't any a/c in the rooms but there is a fan supplied, with the window open and the fan on I slept fine. The restaurant next door has really good food. I will definitely stay here again.

The location of this property is amazing! Lake Superior is right across the road so amazing views! The hiking trails to the state park are right on the property, as well as a great restaurant. My kids enjoyed the playground, outdoor games, pool table and the beach as well. Our room was clean and spacious. We will stay again when we come back to the area!

Love the vibe of the property - it's historic origins are still in place. Felt like going back in time but with modern amenities. Great location and nice hikes right from the property.

I loved the older charm of this lodge overlooking Lake Superior. The rooms do not have AC but the open windows and a fan were great with the eveningbreeze off of the lake was refreshing and made the room comfortable. The lodge had a great deck and common room to sit and relax. We parked right next to the lodge, had a wonderful meal in the restaurant next to the lodge and the room was neat and clean. The staff was very helpful with providing information to our questions. I highly recommend this as a great lodging option for the beauty of the North Shore.

Stayed in room 210. Overall, I had a great stay. Some things to keep in mind. Since the lodge is right next to Hwy 61, there is a lot of road noise from the constant traffic that is going up and down the shore (the room faced the highway and the window needed to be open to cool it down. The room got a bit warm when the temp was warm outside. Our room did not have airconditioning. There was a portable fan in the room which was a huge help. Be careful crossing the road to visit the lake as Hwy 61 is very busy during the summer months. A pedestrian crosswalk would be a good. Parking is an issue for lodge guests when it's busy. Nicely remodeled room, despite the lodge being almost 100 years old. Virtually no place to set things in the bathroom or hang clothes. Needs a soap dish next to the sink. Positives: Nicely kept up interior. I loved the atmosphere and decor. Staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Fun game room in the basement with pool table and 3 old school video games. Ice machine is also in the basement as well as coin opperated laundry, should you have need. Area across the road, lakeside, was beautiful and easy access to lake. Restaurant next door had very good food and was convenient for dinner both nights (Make sure you get there by 7:30pm as they close at 8pm, even on the weekends). Overall well-maintained property. Outside of the building could use a new paint job but that is cosmetic stuff which didn't affect my stay.

Overall the stay was pleasant, but there were minor details that - if I were picky with cleanliness - would have bothered me. The blinds and ceiling fans were extremely dusty, and the toilet had some gunk behind the seat/lid. I wasn’t exactly looking for these things, but noticed them as I was settling in. The room besides those items was charming, and the facilities were quaint and welcoming! Loved that they had a Scrabble board out and ready to play. =D

The resort was full to capacity but was still very peaceful. No blaring music or noisy vehicles. It was my 7th time there this year and is very consistent in good service and cleanliness. Nothing fancy, no frills. The restaurant has good food although extremely noisy in the summer but that is how their money is made.

Spacious suite had big windows, beautiful view of Lake Superior. Wood burning fireplace! Big bathroom with jet tub. Right next to Cascade State Park for waterfalls, hikes. Restaurant - food is excellent (highly recommend the salmon with ginger persimmon compote, and the "wild burger")!!

Very cute, clean. Beautiful water view. The only thing was the room was miserably hot. No air conditioning which we new. There was only a very small table top fan provided which basically did nothing. There should have been at least a large floor fan/box fan provided. Opened the windows to try to help circulation then very loud from traffic and outside lights too much so no sleep the first night.

The Inn is almost 100 years old. Understandably, the rooms are small but overall, we had a pleasant stay. Lake Superior is right across the road so the view is wonderful. We would definitely stay again.

While I love Superior's North Shore and the Cascade River in particular ... the falls, wilderness hikes, and so on ... The wi-fi in my cabin was non-existent. I didn't recognize this until after hours, so I couldn't approach staff about it. It continued to be spotty and awful until I left the next morning. This was not good.

I had a wonderful stay at Cascade Lodge. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the lakeview and scenery are spectacular. I took full advantage of using the kitchenette. The room was clean and modern enough while keeping the aesthetics of the 1927 built lodge. The only item not excellent was the age of the mattress. The lodge is centrally located near Grand Marais and Lutsen and near many of the areas of the Superior Hiking Trail.

Tiny cramped room. No air conditioning. Too many steps. No amenities. Beautiful lake view once you walk across the highway - not really viewable from room because of tiny paned windows. Loud highway noise throughout the night. Bathroom ill equipped - no vanity space and not even a hook on the wall for a robe or towel. Proximity to Grand Marais was convenient and the price was much more reasonable than staying right in Grand Marais so that is a positive.

Staff was great- after checking in and getting settled in the room in the main lodge, the manager came up to my room and shared that somehow the Expedia system had allowed a double booking- I didn’t need the two beds so gladly moved to accommodate- I was relocated to a Lame Superior view room which was wonderful to wake up to. The staff was very apologetic for the inconvenience and also received a voucher for breakfast. I would recommend the Lodge!

The room was clean. We lost power and had no electricity through a good portion of our stay. We also did not have running water and wi fi. The property manager was trying to remedy the situation but it was very inconvenient to not have basic needs met

There was a living area downstairs that was stocked with games, books, and nice sofas with windows overlooking the big lake. It was a short drive into downtown Grand Marais, and a short hike to the Cascade Falls. The restaurant next door offers a discount with your stay and is quite tasty. The front office staff were all friendly. I hope I get the opportunity to stay here again.

The hanging basket outside on the porch was nice. The Cascade Restaurant is very good. The lodge itself has staff untrained in guest service. The cabin we stayed in had a horrible matress, the kind with the big soft spot in the middle that you sink into. They tried to cover it with a mattress topper which was of no help. Vacations are to rest and relax - not possible on a bad mattress. The upholstery on the hassocks was stained as well as the bathroom curtain. One of the window blinds was broken.

I loved the older charm of this lodge overlooking Lake Superior. The rooms do not have AC but the open windows and a fan were great with the eveningbreeze off of the lake was refreshing and made the room comfortable. The lodge had a great deck and common room to sit and relax. We parked right next to the lodge, had a wonderful meal in the restaurant next to the lodge and the room was neat and clean. The staff was very helpful with providing information to our questions. I highly recommend this as a great lodging option for the beauty of the North Shore.

I had a wonderful stay at Cascade Lodge. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the lakeview and scenery are spectacular. I took full advantage of using the kitchenette. The room was clean and modern enough while keeping the aesthetics of the 1927 built lodge. The only item not excellent was the age of the mattress. The lodge is centrally located near Grand Marais and Lutsen and near many of the areas of the Superior Hiking Trail.

The location of this property is amazing! Lake Superior is right across the road so amazing views! The hiking trails to the state park are right on the property, as well as a great restaurant. My kids enjoyed the playground, outdoor games, pool table and the beach as well. Our room was clean and spacious. We will stay again when we come back to the area!

The Lodge location, views of the lake and proximity to Grand Marais was wonderful. Our room was recently renovated with the exception of the tub itself which could have been scrubbed out. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings simple, comfortable and attractive. The stair depth was a bit shallow so I ascended and descending sideways. The communal space was lovely as was the view of Lake Superior. The lodge is located across the road from the lake. The road is the main thoroughfare on the north shore so traffic was fairly constant and loud. Unfortunately, it was hot outside so our windows were open (no A/C) and the traffic was loud - throughout the night - interrupting our sleep. There is a restaurant associated with the lodge on the other side of the parking lot. It was very convenient for breakfast which was delicious.

We love coming back every year to Cascade Lodge. The log cabins are rustic, but clean and functional. Access to trails out the back door is fantastic. We look forward to being back next year!

Great last minute booking in Cascade. Place was adorable and clean. Staff were friendly. However, room was close to main road so some traffic noise but not horrible at bedtime hours. No a/c so luckily sleeping with just a sheet was ok during heat of summer. Good view of lake with access just across the street.

The Inn is almost 100 years old. Understandably, the rooms are small but overall, we had a pleasant stay. Lake Superior is right across the road so the view is wonderful. We would definitely stay again.

Right across from Lake Superior is Cascade Lodge. We enjoyed staying in one of the cabins there. Everything was perfect with our stay, including the restaurant next door. We will be back.

Spacious suite had big windows, beautiful view of Lake Superior. Wood burning fireplace! Big bathroom with jet tub. Right next to Cascade State Park for waterfalls, hikes. Restaurant - food is excellent (highly recommend the salmon with ginger persimmon compote, and the "wild burger")!!

I lovely location; quaint and clean cabin with everything you need. The view of lake superior is delightful and convenient to walk to if you care to sit on the sand and watch the sunrise or sunset. And the property is definitely child friendly as it has a playground and even the ball and cornhole, which is delightful for adults, as well. There is a restaurant on site, which is part of the property. That makes it convenient and has great food and service, as well

The resort was full to capacity but was still very peaceful. No blaring music or noisy vehicles. It was my 7th time there this year and is very consistent in good service and cleanliness. Nothing fancy, no frills. The restaurant has good food although extremely noisy in the summer but that is how their money is made.

Stayed in room 210. Overall, I had a great stay. Some things to keep in mind. Since the lodge is right next to Hwy 61, there is a lot of road noise from the constant traffic that is going up and down the shore (the room faced the highway and the window needed to be open to cool it down. The room got a bit warm when the temp was warm outside. Our room did not have airconditioning. There was a portable fan in the room which was a huge help. Be careful crossing the road to visit the lake as Hwy 61 is very busy during the summer months. A pedestrian crosswalk would be a good. Parking is an issue for lodge guests when it's busy. Nicely remodeled room, despite the lodge being almost 100 years old. Virtually no place to set things in the bathroom or hang clothes. Needs a soap dish next to the sink. Positives: Nicely kept up interior. I loved the atmosphere and decor. Staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Fun game room in the basement with pool table and 3 old school video games. Ice machine is also in the basement as well as coin opperated laundry, should you have need. Area across the road, lakeside, was beautiful and easy access to lake. Restaurant next door had very good food and was convenient for dinner both nights (Make sure you get there by 7:30pm as they close at 8pm, even on the weekends). Overall well-maintained property. Outside of the building could use a new paint job but that is cosmetic stuff which didn't affect my stay.

This hotel is an absolute gem! My husband and I stayed only one night, but enjoyed every minute. The restaurant is convenient and has great food. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and fun to talk to.! we’ve already booked a room for next year!

My husband and I were traveling along the Lake Superior Circle Drive and this was by far our favorite place that we stayed on our 8 day trip. We only wished we had planned to stay more than one night!! It's a beautiful place, incredibly charming and clean. The desk staff could not have been nicer and the restaurant next door was convenient and food was delicious. Can't say enough about our stay.
