Great place to stay! Loved the taphouse on site. They offered free waffles and coffee in the morning. Had a bonfire on every night for anyone to join. Quiet and serene surroundings. Roomy cabins and so comforable! I was so pleasantly surprised. Will stay again!

We loved our stay here. The kids could run and play on the playground equipment safely. Dan and Lora were so welcoming and friendly. They treated our kids like their own. We loved the nightly bonfires and getting to chat with other guests. So fun to learn about everyone’s different travels. All requirements for staying were clearly outlined in a binder. I appreciate their efforts in sustainability.

We stayed in Aspen cottage for a week. The cottage was perfect for our needs. The location is perfect for all the activities in the Black Hill area. The property was very well maintained and clean. The owners provide a fun atmosphere with nightly bon fires, grilling area and tap room for gathering and conversations. We will be recommending to everyone and hope to return some day.

The owners Justin and Ashley are amazing!!! Made us feel like family. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful relaxing stay in Wildcat cottage! The waffles and coffee for breakfast were great. Had lots of good conversations with the owners Justin and Ashley and some of the other guests in the Taproom.

This is a cozy little place. It is nice but be aware the cabins are small. Has a very neat little tap room that is quite fun. The owners are very sweet and welcoming. Very easy access to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse.

The cabin was super clean and comfortable, in a very pretty location that's convenient to a lot of Black Hills day trips. We stayed in the off-season, so not much going on, but I imagine the taproom and community bonfire during high season would be great. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

wonderful resort, like new cabin, cool "tap room" check in area and convenient to all the site Mount Rushmore, Keystone and Hill City, Custer Park. Sayted with my parents and cabin was perfect with separate bedrooms, large bathroom and kitchenette and living room made for a nice stay with privacy. private parking just feet from front door.

The property was beautiful. There were way to many rules. Also as a paying client and I have use of the amenities on the property, if I wish to invite someone over to eat and use the grill, the guest has to pay. Either pay $10 or they have to buy a drink from the bar on the property. Never have I ever heard of this before.

The property was immaculate. The location was perfect with great views. The cabin we stayed in was clean and comfortable, and we had HOT water!!!! The owners treated us like family and they take such great care of the property. Unbelievable place to stay. I would highly recommend Black Elk Resort, and we can't wait to come back next year!

I booked the Northwoods cabin for my last stop on a 5 day sightseeing road trip. I’m usually very cautious of local-owned places due to a few very bad experiences in the past. Thankfully, Black Elk Resort is not one of those places. Dan and Lora are two of the nicest people, and the facilities are clean and comfortable. The taproom onsite is a great place to unwind and enjoy some drinks and conversation with fellow guests and the hosts themselves. If you’re looking for a great place to stay in the Black Hills area during the summer, look no further.

Black Elk lodge is in a great location, and clean and maintained to a very high level. But beyond that, Lora and Dan are so helpful. They helped with suggesting scenic drives to take, sites to see, places to eat, as well being great people to visit with. Thanks Lora & Dan, we'll be back definitely!

The waffles and coffee for breakfast were great. Had lots of good conversations with the owners Justin and Ashley and some of the other guests in the Taproom.

Our cabin was wonderful! Clean, cozy, and comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival and throughout our stay. The location was perfect, just a few miles from all the attractions in Hill City and Keystone. I recommend Black Elk to anybody visiting the area!

wonderful resort, like new cabin, cool "tap room" check in area and convenient to all the site Mount Rushmore, Keystone and Hill City, Custer Park. Sayted with my parents and cabin was perfect with separate bedrooms, large bathroom and kitchenette and living room made for a nice stay with privacy. private parking just feet from front door.

Great place to stay! Loved the taphouse on site. They offered free waffles and coffee in the morning. Had a bonfire on every night for anyone to join. Quiet and serene surroundings. Roomy cabins and so comforable! I was so pleasantly surprised. Will stay again!

Unser Zimmer war klein aber fein und sehr sauber. Es wurde zwar kein Frühstück angeboten, aber man konnte sich kostenlos eine Kaffee holen. Für unsere Rundreise hatte diese Unterkunft eine perfekte Lage. Wir können diese Unterkunft mit den sehr netten Eigentümern gerne weiter empfehlen.

I booked the Northwoods cabin for my last stop on a 5 day sightseeing road trip. I’m usually very cautious of local-owned places due to a few very bad experiences in the past. Thankfully, Black Elk Resort is not one of those places. Dan and Lora are two of the nicest people, and the facilities are clean and comfortable. The taproom onsite is a great place to unwind and enjoy some drinks and conversation with fellow guests and the hosts themselves. If you’re looking for a great place to stay in the Black Hills area during the summer, look no further.

We stayed in Aspen cottage for a week. The cottage was perfect for our needs. The location is perfect for all the activities in the Black Hill area. The property was very well maintained and clean. The owners provide a fun atmosphere with nightly bon fires, grilling area and tap room for gathering and conversations. We will be recommending to everyone and hope to return some day.

The cabin was super clean and comfortable, in a very pretty location that's convenient to a lot of Black Hills day trips. We stayed in the off-season, so not much going on, but I imagine the taproom and community bonfire during high season would be great. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

We loved staying at this cottage. Very clean! The owners/ host were fabulous! I don’t leave many reviews but needed to for this hidden gem. We stayed here after reading the reviews of other guests and was not disappointed. Close to everything we wanted to do. Especially coming back to unwind and going to the Taproom for beer and wine. Also getting to know some of the other guests that were staying there as well. This hidden gem will not disappoint. Dan and Lora welcomed you as friends but definitely made you feel like family.

The property was beautiful. There were way to many rules. Also as a paying client and I have use of the amenities on the property, if I wish to invite someone over to eat and use the grill, the guest has to pay. Either pay $10 or they have to buy a drink from the bar on the property. Never have I ever heard of this before.

There are not enough stars to rate this beautiful little peace of paradise. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cabin was immaculate, as were the grounds, office/bar, laundry. We stayed two nights and could have stayed longer!

We loved our stay here! Our kids really enjoyed all the outdoor activities. There was worms in our cabin we found one in our refrigerator and one on the floor we tried to locate where they were coming from but couldn’t find anything. Our guess was maybe someone who previously stayed there had live bait in the refrigerator and they somehow got out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family of five stayed in the Mammoth Cabin and absolutely loved our time at Black Elk Resort! The property is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and incredibly family-friendly. Our kids made so many friends during our stay, and the playground was a huge hit. There was plenty for families to enjoy, including ring toss, propane grills, lots of outdoor seating, and nightly campfires for roasting s'mores. The cabin was spotless, well-maintained, and the beds were some of the most comfortable we've slept on while traveling. The complimentary coffee and waffles each morning were an absolute lifesaver before heading out for a day of adventures. The owners and staff were kind, welcoming, and clearly take pride in creating a great experience. We also loved the on-site taproom. It was the perfect place to grab a beer, glass of wine, or pizza when we wanted a relaxing evening close to our cabin. The location was incredibly convenient for exploring everything the Black Hills has to offer while still feeling peaceful and tucked away.
