Plantation Motel

The stay itself was mediocre upon getting into the cabin it was filled with bugs. Talked to the property manager before arriving about stay and Todd did not have very good communication skills and complained about booking stay through Expedia. Did not give a very welcoming experience. Pool was down for the stay was unaware until I went to the front desk to collect receipt the next morning due to arriving late on check in day so there wasn’t any accommodations at the property.

The manager made sure I can easily get my room key after office hours and scheduled when I could pay for my stay. Rooms of main building are accessible to parking right outside each door. The little cabins were cute, too. There is a path down from the fire pit area of the last cabin, down to the beach. My grandsons who at first were disappointed that the pool was not open yet May 18 then truly enjoyed exploring the beach and will remember Lake Huron!

The property is cute and quiet. Friendly people. The pool area is very nice and the property was clean, with nice flowers planted. Suggestions: would be to fix up private beach and area leading to it. Very hard to get down to it and dangerous metal railings broken off. Need iron and ironing board in room. Fridge froze everything.

The motel in a quiet area with a path to walk to a small beach area with a great view. Staff were sweet as can be, check in and out went very smoothly. The porch area around my room door was noticeably buggy and there were several mosquitos that had gotten into my room, but it’s understandable given the proximity to the lake. I had a really hard time getting the water warmed up, you may have a cold shower or I might have gotten unlucky. Other than a couple spots on the floor and the stray bugs, the room was very clean.

We came to town for a wrestling tournament, Enjoyed our stay, it was quiet, pool was clean and a nice walk down the lake to a little beach on the property. Clean rooms. Friendly staff and accommodating.

Tv didnt work, suppose to be lake view was not. No beach area. Hot water took forever to get there. Will not stay again almost left and went somewhere else but had already paid.

My husband and I have stayed at this property numerous times over the years, we know it is always clean. The owners are very friendly and try to be accommodating. The place is very 1950’s ish. Love that you can just walk down the lane to the lake and there is a common’s fire pit for a fire. Con’s: the places could use a “little” up dating nicer shower curtain little touches go a long way. Maybe leave some bottle waters in rooms, better toilet paper instead of one ply, those sorts of things. Over all it is a great little place obviously or we would not keep coming back every year.

We felt safe and the room was clean. The outdoor swim pool was small but private to the publicview. They did not supply a clock, microwave, small coffee pot or any kind of cups for our use. The tv reception was terrible and kept earching during the movie. The room for being a DELUX was very small. No chair. No shelf in the shower room. Had to put our clean clothes on the commode or on the floor. There was an extra $50 charge per night for being on the weekend. That makes the room $179 per night . I feel this was very expensive being they don't even have a continental breakfast. The pricing was confusing. I paid $550 for 3 nights and people in a cottage paid $450 for 4 nights. Same weekend.

Cottages have everything necessary. Property is great for horeshoes, picnic tables and beautiful views of sunrises and sunsets. Tucked away and close to other coastal towns.

Noone was in the office. We had to call a number and stand outside to wait for him. Beach is gone. Room had inconvenient light switches. None by the bed. Only one outlet by the sink needed reset button pushed repeatedly to work. Knob on sink is broken. I would not recommend this place.

The property itself was gorgeous-lots of trees, birds and a beautiful view of the lake. However, the room we stayed in was less than expected. It wasn't filthy-the sheets and towels were obviously laundered and it was an okay place to sleep-but it definitely wasn't what I would call clean (both bathrooms had hair and debris on the floor). I also understand everything being dated-that's fine-but at some point, you have to start replacing broken or extremely worn out items. Also, and it wasn't a big deal for this particular trip as I was travelling with my husband and father-in-law, was the door itself. I don't mind actual keys, but the deadbolt doesn't work, and the handle that has the other lock is barely holding on. I could have easily made entry into the room without the key, and as a small lady who travels alone frequently, that would have been a deal breaker the first day for me solo (I understand the area is safe but you really never know). Lastly, the owner is very gruff, and acted like we were putting him out for a)asking to check in late even though according to the sign on their front door that is a VERY common occurrence and b)letting him know the air unit in the main room wasn't working correctly. We ended up leaving a day early due to other circumstances, but I wasn't sad to leave.

View was awesome , but felt like we were intruding on guest staying at the end cabins. Housekeeping not the best, cobwebs and spiders in corners of both rooms we stayed in. Pretty sure the sheets were not changed from last guest and windows were very dirty. After cleaning the room, making the bed and washing the windows. We had a great stay. I think the place needs some TLC, improvement on housekeeping and some maintenance on the property. I probably would stay there again if I was assured that things had improved. The staff was very polite and helpful and all the outer guest were very friendly. It was a nice homtown community feel. the beds were very comfortable and we slept well once the sanitary conditions were improved. Shouldn’t have to clean your own room but be prepared.

We booked the weekend to meet up with friends in Vermilion and this little family owned spot exceeded our needs. The cabin is very clean and comfortable even if it is a bit on the small side. The mini fridge was a welcome surprise. Very quiet and peaceful sitting next to the lake in early part of day. 100% would stay again. Close to both Huron and Vermilion.

Cute little place. We arrived after check-in, but our room key was conveniently left on a hook just inside the office door. Our room was very quiet and the room clean and comfortable.

Floors were very dirty. Feet were black just walking inside the cottage.

This property was much better than I expected! It was very clean and the staff was super friendly. My cottage did have a fridge even though it wasn’t listed and I was not charged extra for WiFi. It is conveniently located near Vermilion, Huron, and Sandusky with many nice beaches for swimming. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back!

This is a very quaint mom and pop place. The staff was nice so were the grounds. However there was some things that need to be improved on. We were not told when we booked we get charged extra for using a credit card so that was a surprise charge. We were not told we did not get house keeping service. The beds were comfortable. However the AC units needed to be clean from a lot of dust and the light was on to service. There was hair in the shower. My sheets, towels and wash cloths had a gray tint to them and the floor mat was fraying. There were no dish towels or pot holders in the kitchen we had to use hand towels to get stuff from the oven. No extra trash bags our trash can was over flowing from a three day stay. Attention to detail would go a long way

If you are looking for a Resort. This isn't it. BUT if you want quiet and inexpensive but clean.. this place is great. Tall people will have to slouch in the shower and its not scalding hot...but water pressure is good. Little bit tight quarters in the cottages but its very clean and comfy. Would stay here again!

It’s tiny, but cozy and comfortable. The bathroom might be tight if you are large or tall.

But for a group of old friends visiting the area, it did the job nicely -- two bedrooms (though only separated by a curtain), two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. It's close to Cedar Point and the bay, so it was a convenient distance for our activities, and the owners seemed quite friendly and accommodating. The walls are a bit thin, so you don't want to be too rowdy.

The cottage was a great little place to stay on our trip to cedar point. However, the heater in the room was on even though it was the middle of summer. Because the air conditioner made it cooler than what the heater was set to, the heat kicked on. The heater melted our suitcase and some item inside. Also the A/C unit’s plug goes right over the heater and the cord is singed! We are lucky that the whole place didn’t catch on fire! When we brought it up to someone at the desk all they said was “it’s a heater. It gets hot.” But why was it on in the first place in 95° weather! Very frustrating.

Not hot water at all. Bugs flying around inside, no tissues, not enough pillows, ac unitnot working. Too hot. Keeps blowing fuse no one around to talk to. Horrible experience

Everything was fine. But just fine. Gave you the minimum. Hard to get something if you needed it because of the wonky hours.

Came here to visit family with my husband & dog. I’m 8 months pregnant-this was our last trip for a bit. The male owner is so extremely rude and aggressive. Entered our room with no notice just a knock and a dog sniffing for bed bugs. Called to say we needed to get back to the cottage ASAP, that we never told them about bringing a pet which is a total lie bc after I booked online I called to let them know that we’d be traveling with a dog since there is no way to do so thru the Expedia booking process. The man on the phone said no problem I will leave a note with the reservation and that there was pet fee. We get there check in and l assume everything is good to go we sign the credit card slip which had no break down of charges for us to keep.Didn’t think anything of it- three days go by and we get screamed at and accused of sneaking our dog in and not following the rules. It states that there is no turn down services or anything like that and there was no do not disturb sign to put on the door. I felt completely violated that they entered our room with another dog. Our suitcases were open, belongings around the room, not for nothing but my dog could have gotten hurt by the other dog or escaped. Wouldn’t you do this when the room is not rented? I wanted to leave after all this and he said we had to pay for the night bc the cleaning crew was done for the day- we packed up and saw the cleaning crew still working when we left the property-another lie. No beach, not a queen bed.

Great affordable place to stay in a great location. Very easy drive to Cedar Point and other great Lake Erie destinations.

The place was pretty quiet even though the guys were going out fishing at 5 in the morning. They didn't make much noise.

If you prefer a chain hotel with all the modern amenities, this is NOT the place for you. If you enjoy a quaint, comfortable room, off the beaten path, and supporting a family-owned business - then this is your place. What a great place! The rooms may be small & dated - but they were clean, everyone is friendly and the setting is beautiful and quiet. Right on the lake and surrounded by birds. We saw bald eagles and a golden eagle, and so many other birds we lost count. I would absolutely stay there again!
