Lovely village pub with well appointed rooms. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Great food. Ideally placed for Bristol airport but not so close that it’s overrun. We will definitely stay again.

Mixed Experience – Helpful Staff but Several Drawbacks The staff were excellent—friendly and as helpful as they could be. Dining was a highlight, with good quality food at both breakfast and dinner. However, there were several drawbacks. Parking on Friday night was a major issue. The small public car park behind the pub was full, and on-street parking was extremely limited. Given the number of nearby pubs, bars, and restaurants, this is likely a recurring problem—not a one-off. The website’s claim of “plentiful parking” is misleading. The rooms are located at the back of the pub, above the kitchen, and accessed via an outdoor staircase that’s dirty, smelly, and appears to be used for other purposes—definitely not a great first impression. While the hallway to the rooms was better, and the room itself was clean, ours had only small skylights, making it feel quite claustrophobic. Nice spacious room as the photos showed, staff were friendly but busy. Car parking was an issue I specifically booked a place with parking but it was difficult to find and not clear in the instructions before hand. That’s the only real point I have everything else was as I expected thank you.

Parking is provided by the means of a public car park to the rear of the property. Access to the property is via a long gravel path which requires suitcases to be carried. Room access is via very step and narrow steps. Thankfully the manager assisted with the cases to the room. Stay was good, but on departure no staff were available and the property was locked.

Lovely old inn very convenient for Bristol airport. Comfortable room with good facilities. No car park but easy access to free parking. Stairs up to rooms may be a little difficult for some, especially if handling luggage. Arrived on a Sunday & although I had checked availability of restaurant menus, there was very little choice. Will, however saved the day with excellent customer service & the chef certainly knows how to cook a superb Sunday lunch. Will definitely stay again.

Booked this place at last minute as previous booking cancelled. Location perfect - right in the centre of the village. Handy for local shops. Room really clean with everything you need. Huge bathroom. Really good shower. Loads of hot water. Restaurant nice. Good choice of food. Excellent service

I booked 2 rooms for an early morning flight and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. There was a free carpark next to the pub and the staff were efficient and friendly. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the bathrooms were the best I’ve seen in a hotel. Stunning! Will definitely stay again for a Bristol flight (15 minutes away)

We were greeted inside the pub and shown to our room quickly which was upstairs at the rear of the building. This was up outside metal steps. The room is a great size with modern fixture and a stunning bathroom. The shower was amazing. There was however several issues, there was a very loud rumbling noise coming from the below floor (possibly linked to the pub) we wanted to sleep at 8pm and it too loud even with earplugs. This noise did stop around midnight. The pillow was horrendous. Hard and flat and I didn’t sleep the whole time due to this. They were really uncomfortable.

The room I booked was supposed to be a king size room. We were taken to room 2. This was a very small room and did not match the room that I paid for. There was carpet which was stained in places. The toilet was situated in a tiny cubicle. My husbands knees were touching the wall when he sat down on the toilet. The shutters were dirty. We were not happy at all with our room, I did mention this to the girl at the bar when we left.

Ok check in friendly. Room was up some steep steps poorly maintained. Room only had 2 small roof windows so no view outside. Room was very hot as in roof. Bathroom doors hard to open and noisy opening or closing. Shower hose was bent so restricted water flow and holder for shower head was loose and unable to tighten so shower head kept hanging down. Bed was exceptionally hard with rock solid pillows. Cobwebs around high level roof beams. Decor nice.

Great check in from young man at bar it was 34 degrees incredibly hot our room was so hot he even sourced us a fan 👍 traffic noise is an issue from room as rooms are beside a very busy road . Also blinds in room do not keep out daylight so sleeping was unfortunately an issue for us but very welcoming staff .

A great find. It is a little 'Harry Potter' as you walk through a cupboard to get to the bedrooms but the rooms are lovely - really nicely done with very comfy beds, lovely linen and fluffy towels. Quite noisy as the room is on the High Street - but I always travel with ear plugs! Staff were all great. Forgot to say - Room 3 toilet seat was broken!!

A bit of a mixed review. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a good size but we didn’t like the open plan bathroom and the toilet was no more than a closet (think airplane size and smaller again!). Bed was comfortable. Our room (No 2) was at the front and it was quite noisy

Lovely room, spacious, light and modern. It was very clean with a comfortable king size bed and en suite shower. Check-in at the bar was quick and easy. We ate in the bar that evening and had breakfast there the next day. I thought the food was rather expensive and a bit underwhelming, but my husband enjoyed the food. I would definitely stay there again but, maybe, find somewhere else to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed with a group of friends for 4 nights. The rooms were clean & spacious. We ate in the restaurant on 2 nights & the food was of a generally good standard, breakfast was very good although service was a little slow but as we weren’t in a rush it wasn’t a problem. All the staff were friendly & helpful & they were able to make some decent cocktails, the passion fruit martini being particularly good. The pub itself is in a good location & there are other pubs/ eateries within 5 minutes walking distance.

Manager and staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Old property but managed well and my room was very clean and comfortable. Being an older property and it was -4 on one of the nights I stayed , it was a bit draughty despite the radiators being on full blast. There was an additional heater in the wardrobe which was very welcomed. Food was delicious on both evenings that I stayed there. I would definitely stay there again.

Mixed Experience – Helpful Staff but Several Drawbacks The staff were excellent—friendly and as helpful as they could be. Dining was a highlight, with good quality food at both breakfast and dinner. However, there were several drawbacks. Parking on Friday night was a major issue. The small public car park behind the pub was full, and on-street parking was extremely limited. Given the number of nearby pubs, bars, and restaurants, this is likely a recurring problem—not a one-off. The website’s claim of “plentiful parking” is misleading. The rooms are located at the back of the pub, above the kitchen, and accessed via an outdoor staircase that’s dirty, smelly, and appears to be used for other purposes—definitely not a great first impression. While the hallway to the rooms was better, and the room itself was clean, ours had only small skylights, making it feel quite claustrophobic. Ventilation was poor, and the room became unbearably hot—especially when we had to close the skylights due to loud music from a neighboring pub. Fortunately, staff provided a fan, which helped. In summary, this spot is acceptable for a basic overnight stay, but I’d recommend avoiding weekends if you’re driving, due to the parking situation and potential noise.

Great check in from young man at bar it was 34 degrees incredibly hot our room was so hot he even sourced us a fan 👍 traffic noise is an issue from room as rooms are beside a very busy road . Also blinds in room do not keep out daylight so sleeping was unfortunately an issue for us but very welcoming staff .

Parking is provided by the means of a public car park to the rear of the property. Access to the property is via a long gravel path which requires suitcases to be carried. Room access is via very step and narrow steps. Thankfully the manager assisted with the cases to the room. Stay was good, but on departure no staff were available and the property was locked.

We ate in the bar that evening and had breakfast there the next day. I thought the food was rather expensive and a bit underwhelming, but my husband enjoyed the food. Lovely rooms above a great pub with a cracking breakfast. Everyone we dealt with was so helpful and friendly. The area was perfect for walking and exploring and you could reach other pubs and restaurants by foot. We would definitely recommend and are planning a return trip.

Lovely old inn very convenient for Bristol airport. Comfortable room with good facilities. No car park but easy access to free parking. Stairs up to rooms may be a little difficult for some, especially if handling luggage. Arrived on a Sunday & although I had checked availability of restaurant menus, there was very little choice. Will, however saved the day with excellent customer service & the chef certainly knows how to cook a superb Sunday lunch. Will definitely stay again.

Chew Magna is a beautiful and quaint village, close to both Bristol and Bath. Rooms tie into a friendly and welcoming pub/cafe. Staff is wonderful, rooms are secure and comfy. The village is accessible by single lane roads with turn outs, a road that is a caution during the best of times.

The staff were nice and the food was good. The room was a reasonable size. My issue is with the 10% service charge, that is added to your food and drinks bill. This is the UK not America!! We make a point of leaving a tip where ever we stay or eat, but for it to be taken without knowing about it, really annoyed, as I had left the our tip, before checking the receipt the next day.

Hotel très mignon et bien entretenu. Chambre propre et grande. Malheureusement le personnel s'est montré inflexible. Nous sommes arrivés 10 minutes avant 15h pour prendre possession de notre chambre mais ils nous ont fait attendre jusqu'à l'heure pile. Le matin, nous devions partir à 8h45. Le petit déjeuner étant servi dès 8h nous avons demandé si nous pouvions être servis rapidement, cela non plus n'a pas été possible. On nous a quand même servi un café mais même pas un biscuit ou un bout de toast. Pour 220 euros la chambre, nous avons trouvé cela un peu mesquin.
