Very old style motel attached to a tavern/hotel. Minimal facilities, no fridge, bare basic table and chairs, one glass in a 3 person room. Bed was comfortable, shower was hot, tv worked, so it was good for a one night stay between travelling long distances.

Great place for a night in Newcastle very close to major shopping centre at Charlestown. Staff very helpful and on-site pub dining was good. Would definitely stay again.

For the price I paid for a night it was great. Can’t find too many places for under $80 where you have your own bathroom. Loved that there was aircon and could watch my Netflix on the tv. Room was clean, not too much noise, good water pressure in the shower, working fridge and enough storage space. Sadly there was only a bar menu at the Pub, and as vegans there wasn’t anything we could eat on there. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Apart from the food the only other thing was that I specifically wanted to do some laundry as er had just come in from a festival, and there was only one old dryer that took a very long time to dry things. Also, another person staying at the motel took my clothes out while they were still wet, so I pretty much had to run back and forth to the machine to ensure my clothes were still in it, this took up most of the arvo, night and morning as it was so slow drying.

The staff were exceptionally helpful. Shops ( next door) offered a range of foods . Room was kept very clean by staff and consummables were replaced as required. An older place that is well maintained.

The room was very clean. The linen was crisp and new. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was older in style but clean. The check in staff were friendly! There was no noise and we all Slept well. Value for money is excellent! Thank you.

Room was spotless, staff was amazing. Air conditioner needs to be fixed because, we couldn’t regulate the air, it was the only negative that can be easily fixed. I would love to have microwave oven in the motel just incase I need to make my food warm.

The room generally was clean but the air conditioner was caked with filth and mold. You have to breath musty air all night or open up the front door to ventilate. This was a return stop over. The previous room we stayed in on the way down the coast a week before at Gateshead Tavern Motel was in the the same condition. Clean up the A/C units in the motel rooms and I would definitely consider giving a better review.

The room was generally clean. The bathroom door was very loud and squeaky. Everyone in the whole complex could hear when someone was using the bathroom. The air conditioning unit was caked with dust and mold. The musty smell was not good and we couldn't sleep well. We left early. We hope to get a better room on the return trip.

Location is very central. Close drive to shopping, beaches and popular neighboring suburbs. Room is a bit of a tight squeeze for 3 people but was generally clean and provided a toaster and kettle and a bar fridge. This was all located inside a wardrobe so access was an issue with the small room but it was perfect for a short stay of a few days on a low budget. There was some noise in the water pipes occasionally when Neighbour's used their water but other than that it is was very good option for those on a low budget. I've stayed in worse for a higher price. Pub offered some basic meals for lunch and dinner (pizza / chips or burgers) at a good price. OK for a quick dinner if you're not wanting to go out and eat. Room was serviced everyday which was a nice surprise. Overall it was value for money and the beds are comfy and the aircon worked well.

The Welcome from the Staff was friendly. Loved the shower water pressure! Beds were comfy and linen clean. Aircon was very comfortable. TV was a bit small and the room is due for a coat of paint. Neighbouring rooms were noisy until 1:40am! I had to ask a man to stop talking on the phone outside my window after waking me up Saturday night from Midnight. The location is very central to where we needed. The price was great!

Avoid! We had a confirmed booking for 2 nights for a 3-bed room but only a 2-bed room was available. Furthermore, when returning home for the second night the room was completely cleaned out an all personal belongings had been removed to storage, from where I had to get them after a lengthy discussion. I am yet to wait for any form of refund or compensation.

Excellent check in. Friendly staff. Close to shopping and other businesses. Room was clean. However there was a guest in the room next to us (Room 9) who constantly smoked. The second hand smoke came directly into our room via the batroom vented window. Patrons should NOT be allowed to smoke so close to others and a designated smoking area should be allocated with signage near every room.

Very basic, waited at counter for 15 mins, bar staff avoided eye contact clearly seeing us waiting there. ended up having to call out for service. Bed was musty and uncomfortable. Toilet was noisy and the walls are very thin. Could hear ppl next door talking - they weren’t loud

For a budget motel it was excellent. Clean, tidy, amenities good, comfortable bed, easy parking, friendly and efficient staff. The only downside is that it is not close to highway access, but for all other guests, would highly recommend

Great place to stay in Newcastle. Nice and close to Charlestown Shopping Centre and not too far to Kotara. Staff were outstanding in their attention and desire to make our stay really enjoyable. Bar menu was outstanding and well priced. Will stay again.

The check-in was easy and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and quiet. Choice of bistro meals limited but very enjoyable to eat.

I thought there was good food after reading the reviews , however Pizza was the only food on Wednesday nights . Breakfast is also not available . I was directed to the service station next door for breakfast . I bought a large coffee , a bottle of juice and a muffin for ten dollars . All good !

The price is what drew me to the property, but was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and very friendly and helpful staff. The tavern had excellent food although only 5 or 6 items, all under $16.

The room was comfortable and clean. The pub had basic pub meals , but cheap and nice. Staff were awesome and very helpfull even accommodated late check out. Absolutely will be back

For the price I paid for a night it was great. Can’t find too many places for under $80 where you have your own bathroom. Loved that there was aircon and could watch my Netflix on the tv. Room was clean, not too much noise, good water pressure in the shower, working fridge and enough storage space. Sadly there was only a bar menu at the Pub, and as vegans there wasn’t anything we could eat on there. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Apart from the food the only other thing was that I specifically wanted to do some laundry as er had just come in from a festival, and there was only one old dryer that took a very long time to dry things. Also, another person staying at the motel took my clothes out while they were still wet, so I pretty much had to run back and forth to the machine to ensure my clothes were still in it, this took up most of the arvo, night and morning as it was so slow drying.

Solid choice in the south Newcastle area. Rooms were older but well maintained - sort of classic Route 66 motel era, or in other words, charming. Good television channel selection, plenty of hot water, and biscuits (cookies) included with the tea and coffee items, along with a small carton of milk, which I just love. Easy parking right in front of the room. Next door to a 7-Eleven with a Subway and an Oporto, but I recommend a visit to the attached pub for a full-on Aussie experience.
