Dont let the outside fool you! This is a revamped 1970's style motel that sparkles when you enter the room.We wish we could have stayed longer. The pool was not heated, so we were unable to enjoy it. We did use the h I t tub and it was great. Nice large fridge in the room and plenty of coffe fixings provided. The room was HUGE! The bed was very comfy. The bathroom continues to be mid-century modern. Nothing fancy, but very large with an old fashioned heat lamp. We were quite happy with it. The grounds are well taken care of and there were numerous citrus trees and blooming foillage on the property. Each room has its own private balcony with fencing surrounding it. We will go back and stay longer next time. Loved it! COMFY!

I’m updating a previous review. Our first two days started off hard because we didn’t have wifi and the pool closed which were the first two things we had planned to do during our stay. Miriam, the manager, came on her day off and helped us fix the Internet and updated us on the pool situation. So good news is that things were updated and future guests should not have to experience the same issues again. WiFi and pool issues aside, the room was spacious and very clean. We really enjoyed the sliding door access to the pool and the pet friendly environment. It was like having a pool in our backyard. The pool area was well kept. We were there on weekdays and shared the pool with only one other family most days. Our stay ended well and we were able to enjoy the amenities. Miriam has been very responsive. Our son left his watch phone behind on the property, and she has been responsive in helping us locate it.

Our reservation was for one night only. Unfortunately there was power outage in the area and the property didn’t have a generator or a back up power system in place. There were no emergency lights so we only had our cellphone flashlight to keep us out of the dark. It was totally unacceptable. This property should be managed better in cases like this.

Booked a stay for 3 nights. On the first night, the wifi was not working. Day 2, the WiFi still wasn’t working and the pool was closed due to chemicals. Additionally, no one was on staff or in the office, and when we called the number for service, we were routed to another hotel location in Carmel-by-the Sea.

Great location! Walking distance to all wine tasting rooms and restaurants within Carmel Valley Village. Plenty of parking, great pool and hot tub on the property, and very quiet in the evening. This is our go-to spot when we visit Carmel Valley.

Loved this quaint and quiet spot for our weekend stay. The private patio adjacent to the pool was very nice. The room was adorably furnished with mid mod furniture. Plus the pastries and coffee provided for breakfast were so good, especially the chocolate croissant!

The accessible room was under construction so they gave us the next best thing. The sink/counter in BR was really low (& I'm short). The pool is not heated and the hot tub was not turned on. The inn ia dated and the room is musty smelling. Staff was responsive. Complimentary pastries in the AM is delicious! Overall, it wasn’t bad for its price in this area.

The room was very clean with plenty of amenities. The sliding door to the patio and pool area was not locked when we entered and we ended up blocking it using hangars. If arriving late be sure to make arrangements to get your room key from the convenient lockbox next to the office.

Really quiet area in a valley surrounded by mountains , nice little hot tub, clean linens and bathroom. Very comfortable bed and if you’re planning on just having a place to sleep this is a great place for the price.

Very nice older motel type setting. It's an old property but has been updated and is in great shape. Rooms are big and tastefully decorated. One story w/ small, private patio. Neighbors were loud but they settled down by 10p. Would gladly stay again.

This property was terrible and did not match the pictures on the website. The bathroom had very old flooring and the toilet was broken. The bed was close to being broken and the furniture looked like it was acquired at a garage sale. The pool was very small, many tiles were chipped and was not heated. They were not able to check us in on time and we had to wait 2 hours (90 degrees that day) as they didn’t have enough staff. The front desk receptionist had communication issues and couldn’t answer anything beyond “yes” and “no” responses. We were very disappointed so decided to leave a day early. I would NOT recommend staying here. There were other options in the area I wish we would have booked instead. The pictures do not reflect the condition of the actual property.

Very cute motel with Post mid-century decor. Very comfortable beds, linens, and towels. Large room and bathroom with a private patio overlooking the pool. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. It's also a great deal in an expensive area. Walking distance into the village and a short drive to 2 parks with many hiking trails.

Booked a stay for 3 nights. On the first night, the wifi was not working. Day 2, the WiFi still wasn’t working and the pool was closed due to chemicals. Additionally, no one was on staff or in the office, and when we called the number for service, we were routed to another hotel location in Carmel-by-the Sea.

This property was terrible and did not match the pictures on the website. The bathroom had very old flooring and the toilet was broken. The bed was close to being broken and the furniture looked like it was acquired at a garage sale. The pool was very small, many tiles were chipped and was not heated. They were not able to check us in on time and we had to wait 2 hours (90 degrees that day) as they didn’t have enough staff. The front desk receptionist had communication issues and couldn’t answer anything beyond “yes” and “no” responses. We were very disappointed so decided to leave a day early. I would NOT recommend staying here. There were other options in the area I wish we would have booked instead. The pictures do not reflect the condition of the actual property.

Pros: Room was clean and neat. Check-in was easy. Convenient location in the village. Cons: Room thermostat/heating was not working and they gave no warning about it, or that there was a small space heater in the corner, unplugged (that resembled as much an upright room fan, so I took no notice until the next morning, when I wanted a bit of warmth for the room). No coffee, save for the stale coffee pods in the room. No nothing in the mornings. While other hotels in the area are serving breakfasts, the Contenta feels like it\'s using covid as an excuse to simply save their $ by not offering continental breakfast, or even some hot brewed coffee for their guests. Please, Contenta, it doesn\'t reflect well for you that everyone else has moved past the pandemic and has returned to providing breakfast. Front desk: Both mornings we were there, the front desk/office was NOT open at 8 am as advertised, though each morning we had waited until that time to ask question or two. The second day we returned mid day and again it was locked closed, and no note saying "be right back" or "back in 5 minutes." So, VERY lax management, at least on the operational side of things. Overall, not a good value for the money, though it would be if these negatives were corrected in the future.

Beautiful property very nice staff. The buildings are a bit older and in need of some maintenance with not enough outlets for all the current tech that always needs a charge. Very close to all shops, wine tasting venues and restaurants. Given the cost of some of the other options in the Valley I would definitely stay again.

Great location! Walking distance to all wine tasting rooms and restaurants within Carmel Valley Village. Plenty of parking, great pool and hot tub on the property, and very quiet in the evening. This is our go-to spot when we visit Carmel Valley.

Really quiet area in a valley surrounded by mountains , nice little hot tub, clean linens and bathroom. Very comfortable bed and if you’re planning on just having a place to sleep this is a great place for the price.

Dont let the outside fool you! This is a revamped 1970's style motel that sparkles when you enter the room.We wish we could have stayed longer. The pool was not heated, so we were unable to enjoy it. We did use the h I t tub and it was great. Nice large fridge in the room and plenty of coffe fixings provided. The room was HUGE! The bed was very comfy. The bathroom continues to be mid-century modern. Nothing fancy, but very large with an old fashioned heat lamp. We were quite happy with it. The grounds are well taken care of and there were numerous citrus trees and blooming foillage on the property. Each room has its own private balcony with fencing surrounding it. We will go back and stay longer next time. Loved it! COMFY!

Loved this quaint and quiet spot for our weekend stay. The private patio adjacent to the pool was very nice. The room was adorably furnished with mid mod furniture. Plus the pastries and coffee provided for breakfast were so good, especially the chocolate croissant!

The accessible room was under construction so they gave us the next best thing. The sink/counter in BR was really low (& I'm short). The pool is not heated and the hot tub was not turned on. The inn ia dated and the room is musty smelling. Staff was responsive. Complimentary pastries in the AM is delicious! Overall, it wasn’t bad for its price in this area.

Hidden gem with a pool and hot tub. The rooms are spacious and clean. It’s away from the main road which is nice but walking distance to the area with all the tasting rooms. Definitely going to return.

First of all, the staff is amazing. Very thoughtful, kind and welcoming. The rooms are clean, and have been decorated nicely. I always feel a little iffy when traveling on my own. I felt very safe. The coffee and yogurt and light breakfast in the morning was very nice, and the ability to fill water bottles for hikes was great. It goes unsaid that when you have to get ice bags and bottled water, it's time consuming and expensive. It's a great amenity! We will for sure be back! Thank you!
