Gwango Heritage Resort

I had a fantastic time at Gwengo. The locations unbeatable, perhaps 5 minutes drive from the entrance gate of Hwange. The communications with them were already excellent even before my arrival. The staff answered all my questions promptly. The resort itself is well maintained and well staffed. In one area it has a terrace with a swimming pool, where you can chill and watch animals pass by. The room is clean and tastefully decorated. Restaurants serve all meals. Try their croc tail! Overall, this is an upscale property priced at a mid range, with superb value. The best part of my stay was the hospitality by the staff members. Keith at the reception helped me throughout my stay. All servers for dinner and breakfast were courteous and friendly. At the end of my stay, the manager also gave me a ride to the closest junction to catch a bus. My only regret is that my stay was too short. Hwange is a great park. Next time I will stay here longer.

Extremely friendly staff, slightly disappointed on game drives, didn’t see the large buffalo herds. We found out when we were leaving they moved into a private concession had we known that we would have taken a drive there one day. Overall was very nice

All the employees are so kind and give you a lot of tips for further trips. Out guide Carlos reached us a lot about the nature in the area.

Hwange was wonderful. The lodge is on the more rustic side, but it is super nice. The beds are comfortable. Everything is clean. The showers can be temperamental, but there is plenty of hot water (my brother struggled with the shower in their room and to be fair, the showers did a bit of alternating between hot and cold occasionally). The only complaint might be that the walls are thin. But our group took up the whole section where we were so we weren’t bothering anyone else and no one else could hear us. The food was very good, though there were some menu items which they were out of. Most importantly, the staff were super accommodating. They pulled out the green laser and turned off some lights for us to have a better look at the stars. And Brighton gave the best game drive ever. He knew the animals, the birds, the trees… it was like having a science professor driving the truck.
