Loved the place..very clean...the Forrest is your backyard...very quaint..nice touches..breakfast basket..lots of pillows..earplugs..lol..and the real reason I chose..dog friendly!

Just the perfect easy park in front adorable motel w peace and attention to mom and pop Mountain cabin pure real wood and attention.to some fun art wood decorations we had fun feeling woodsy as it should be So charming for excellent price. Clean and the cabin room has a back patio into the forest. W simple kitchennette. Dog stop w doggie bags. They thought of even earplugs on your night stand. We like it we will be back. A place to afford and feel connected not overrun w city sterile motels. This breathes. For us town is 1 mi so we can get into the peace if the forest quickly here. We are in it. Staff is very nice people. Thanks !

I had a beautiful stay here! I stayed in the forest hideaway, it's the cutest little cabin! It was clean, quiet and had everything i needed. The bed was very comfortable but the location is the best part. It's nestled in the trees and from the balcony you can hear a stream. (There's a little trail that leads to the stream, it's definitely worth going to see. ) The basket breakfast is perfect and thoughtful, they hang out on the door every morning. I absolutely loved all of it and will definitely be back!

Parking was right in front of our cabin. Very convenient. The staff were all very helpfull and attentive! We will go thete again in the future.

We stayed in the grand room. We were coming in from out of town and the owners knew this. We were running a bit late for check in and they called us to let us know that they would be leaving the keys for us by the office drop box, which I thought was super nice! The views are breath taking!! Very IG shot worthy areas all over the deck and side of the room. There is a cool tree that is growing on the entrance of the room that I thought was so beautiful! The parking was a bit off. We were supposed to park in front of our room, but ended up taking someone else’s parking spot because we had no other choice. Not a huge deal. The room was decently cleaned, but we still found a few things like crumbs in between the chairs and previous guests clothing that was left behind. They have shampoo, lotion, and soap dispensers, which is convenient, however, one of them was empty. They do give you ear plugs because they mention that since the place was built a very long time ago, insulation was not taken into consideration given where the building is located. They have a quiet time frame that starts at 9;00 pm so don’t expect to be up partying all night here if that what you’re looking to do. We did not need the earplugs for our stay and it’s actually not that bad at all as far as hearing things through the wall goes. We never heard our neighbors. Smoking of any kind is not allowed in your room or in the back deck. The only place you are allowed to smoke is in the front of the hotel.

The property was laid out very nice not to mention how beautiful it was. Parking was easy. Access to the rooms was easy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Taylor was awesome and helpful. The room was very cozy and clean. It seemed like you were in a cabin. Bed was comfy. The bathroom was clean. The kitchen area was convenient. There was a microwave, coffee machine and mini fridge. Overall the stay was fantastic. Definitely would recommend!

This letter is in reference to our stay at the Idyllwild Bunkhouse in the Woodland Vista cabin on May 21st-23rd 2025. We booked this cabin on Expedia after reading tons of reviews, watching videos and reviewing all online outlets for the property. From the pictures that were presented, we were excited to enjoy our 15th Wedding Anniversary away in Idyllwild. We were greeted by Deb who was super friendly and welcoming. She checked us in and gave us our key. Looking from the outside, everything looked great. We enjoyed spending time on the private deck and enjoying nature. As time went on, we began to notice and document: -The first night, we didn’t know about the heat and froze to death. The next day we asked Deb and she told us how to turn it on in the bathroom. Once we did, the unit was extremely loud and the tops and inside were very dirty. -Towel hook in bathroom fell down when a towel was placed on it. -Unable to sit on couch as it had stains, was dirty and not being comfortable and being very loud. We had to sit at the dining table the entire stay which was very uncomfortable and not relaxing at all. -Bed was extremely uncomfortable and may possibly be broken on half the bed. -Tons of cobwebs everywhere and extremely dusty -Big black heater in main room doesn’t work and it completely full of dust -Kitchen had oil stains running down the wall -Duvet cover, sheets, chair in bedroom all had white stains

My husband and I stay in rural areas quite often on our getaways and we get that things aren't always perfect. HOWEVER, We have never stayed in a place for $240 a night with such a lack of attention to even the simplest of amenities. The name of the room we stayed in was called the, "Woodland Vista". For example, The walls in the kitchen were dusty with grease dripping down them. The kitchen sink was clogged with onions and hair floating when we arrived. The lady at the desk was happy to pour liquid plumber in it. The sink in the bathroom had hair in it. The bathtub seemed to have been kicked in on one side, exposing the wood frame and yuck behind it. Both soap dispensers in the bathroom were empty. Half of the light bulbs were out in the livingroom. The railing on the balcony is completely unsafe and could easily, if leaned on, go over. The breakfast consisted of a mini-juice box, a mini-scone, a soft apple and a single oatmeal bag both mornings. Not to bad, if the apple could have been fresh. We talked about complaining, but seriously, where would we start. We stayed our 2 nights, and will never stay there again.

Difference between rustic and rundown. This place is very run down. And dirty! Dirty pillows and comforter. The tv was broken, sliding glass door didn’t close completely and the air conditioner was duck taped to the window and hose fell out at one point. Was upgraded second night because of how gross the room was. Was a private cottage and things worked and it was cleaner. But still in disrepair. Also they forgot the continental breakfast. Don’t stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay! Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Loved that there was a mini kitchenette area so we could make breakfast/lunch there. Some of the plates were dirty and there was a lot of dust on the lamps and a few other areas of the room. Everything else seemed quite tidy and clean. The back deck was a nice touch and we felt very cozy there between hikes. The flowers out front were beautiful! Would definitely come back 😊

Great little place with an excellent view. The room was clean and the pine interior really added to the mountain town experience.

Overall the stay was pleasant. Stayed 2 nights in the grand view room. The room could use a really good scrubbing. Fridge light was out. A few sticky spots in the floor that was missed. Some mold in the shower. Bed was very comfortable. The view was amazing. Breakfast in the morning was a great touch. The 2 ladies in the office were very nice and personable. Will stay again just need some TLC.

Property needs a deep client in common areas

Debbie was nice. The rest was pretty bad I spent almost 3 hrs cleaning the place, even found a woman's purse, socks, and lighter in the sofa/chairs which tells me they don't bother to clean those areas, took before and after pictures even contacted the owner Rajiv offering my cleaning services didn't even ask for a refund or anything which I hear I wouldn't have gotten anyway. The guy just doesn't care about his properties and it's a shame because they have real potential. Would not recommend

An older property that hasn't be upgraded with time. It was clean, the bed lumpy, the bathroom tiny and it was noisy. Still, for the price probably a good deal.

Small, quaint, cottage-cabin like motel, with a loft accessed by ladder. The restroom and shower were small in size. All rooms have portable air conditioning, as window units do not function. The loft has a big box fan. And there is a table fan as well. Ceiling fan also was not working. All in all it was a great stay. Will do again. Breakfast is brought to you in baskets, hanging outside the door. It was a neat experience.

We had a great time! The walls are VERY thin and we had a very annoying and loud family next to us. They provide earplugs but be warned in case you want a really quiet place.

The cabin we stayed in, looks just like pictured on the website. You get all the basic amenities such as TV, microwave and small refrigerator with freezer. Cute little table for two, a balcony to enjoy the beautiful pine trees and view of the mountain side. Weather was cool so didn’t need the air conditioning. On the down side, our bed was too soft for our liking, noise level high, due to very thin walls, a bit too dim throughout cabin and our carpet was wet due to a leak from the portable air conditioner that we didn’t use, which created a musty smell in the room. We will be back, but will probably rent a larger room, bring some extra lighting and some ear plugs to cut down neighbor noise.

The cabin was very nice. My room had 2 beds as well as dishes, a mini refrigerator and microwave. The lighting was a little on the dim side, but not a huge issue at all. The outside with the plants and seating was very nice! They had lights around the plants that reminded me of a fairy tale world. I loved this place and will definitely stay again.

For a solo traveler this is a great option, as its centrally located and easy to get to anywhere in town and the many nature hikes in the area. Loved the back porch with a view directly into the woods. As noted by other guests, only possible downside are the thin walls.

Found the room very small, the A/C leaked water on to the floor. So the room was hot, they were going to move us to another room, but the tv in that room did not work.

The Bunkhouse could be good, but there is lots of room for improvement.  Pros: The view from the porch is nice. The staff is friendly. There is outside seating in the front. Seperate kitchen area from bedroom  Bedroom can be blacked out during the day.  Close to hiking trails, nature center, and the town. Cons.  The walls in the rooms are parper thin. The people in the room next to us had the tv loud and were yelling through the night. We could hear the news channel they were watching and their conversation crystal clear. Don't expect to sleep if you have inconsiderate neighbors. My first morning the neighbors cell phone alarm woke me up at 6AM and they immediately turned on the TV and were having a conversation at a volume above the TV. All of which could be heard through the wall.  The hotel provides earplugs for noise, but only 2 and they were the weakest earplugs I've ever used. Didn't drown out anything. We booked a 4 day stay and room service never came.  The shower curtain is placed in a way that all the water drips off the curtain outside the shower and onto the floor. The breakfast is a joke. Everything in the room seems jerry rigged. The lights are all connected to an extension cord. Even the ceiling fan. The wall outlets are missing covers. Major fire hazards. Overall this place has potential, but needs improvements.

The stay was great, even before we arrived. On our way to the Bunkhouse, we received a voicemail with the instructions on how to obtain our key, along with well wishes on our travel. Upon arrival, we obtained the key and once the door opened, my boys were in extreme excitement once they saw our room with a loft. I wanted us to rent a cabin, but with prices so high I went with this location, and it definately did not dissappoint. It gave an amazing cabin feel. Of course like any mom, you think of things you may need for breakfast and other essentials that most locations dont have. And bitterly sweeet, I OVER PACKED! The room had all the amentities needed for us. Bowls, plates, cutting boards, fridage and microwave. HEaters and extra blankets. In the morning during our official check in, the present host was super sweet. She assured my 5 year old that the hog on her wall was nothing to be afraid of. She even explained the Furbys' busy night and why they were still sleeping. As you can imagine, my 5 year old had a million questions and she was so kind and patient to answer each and every one. Then even took the time to later invite my oldest son to see her office and the hog and Furby friends. The breakfast basket each morning was a very sweet touch. They were our hiking and fishing snacks for the day. My boys and I will definitely be returning. I have even mentioned it to my family so hopefully they may join us next time. We love staying here. This is our spot every time we visit. Staff/owner is very friendly and they leave cute little baskets with homemade pastries and juice boxes on your door for breakfast. It’s rustic, in the best way.

The Bunkhouse is a rustic motel that looks like an old motor lodge from the 50's. It is very quaint in appearance, although the rooms are on the small size. This place would be a true gem if it were properly maintained. Cobwebs are in abundance, hanging vines and broken asphalt hinder passage from parking to unit. There are freestanding air conditioners that vent the hot compressor air through an open window, sort of. The owner/management does not appear to love this cozy motel. The appearance and upkeep is evidence of this. The office closes at 6:00 PM with no staff on the grounds. On the day of my arrival, I received a call from the Bunkhouse letting me know the office was closing at 1:30 PM and my key would be in the mailbox. This was an experience we won't soon forget. Did I mention we had a power outage that started at dusk and lasted for over 2 hours. It was a wide spread outage so not the fault of ownership. I would habe appreciated it if ownership had call me to let me know wh!t was happening. Owner did arrive about a hour and a half into the outage and gave me a couple of candles. Would we go back... yes and look forward to our next stay.

There is no AC in the room. They put a temporary small machine to send out cool air. The machine cannot help to lower the temperature in the room. The hose sending the hot air out is temperature insert in the gap of the window. The hose is old and departed from the output. They use a tape to temporarily attach the hose to the output. But it doesn't work, always set apart and dropped. Called for help but no one responded.

We brought our dog to escape fourth of July fireworks in the neighborhood and had a great stay. Very cozy, friendly, place. Staff is incredibly welcoming and easy going. Room was clean and peaceful. The small personal deck outside had a beautiful view of the forest and was perfect for relaxing and reading a book. The hotel was close to the town's center, which was just a walk away.

Parking was right in front of our cabin. Very convenient. The staff were all very helpfull and attentive! We will go thete again in the future.

Checkin was super easy and friendly. The manager prepared my room in advance at turned on the AC, making sure it was comfortable

Wow! The bunkhouse isn’t fancy, but it is still my favorite place to stay when I visit Idyllwild. Debbie and Raj are simply the best! They are friendly and gracious hosts who went above and beyond to make it a nice stay. It is so sweet to get a little breakfast basket on my door each morning and the view from my room was lovely! Great value for a great stay!

Loved it. Rustic and had a balcony with great view. Town is within easy walking distances as well as several trailheads.

Overall the stay was pleasant. The hosts are friendly and approachable. Our room had a loft, going up stairs to the loft was quite scary as there were no poles on top to hold on to. A lot of creaking noises on the walls, loft if someone sleeps there. Its true you can hear cars zooming by constantly but they did provide ear plugs which helps a lot. We had a good time with our family.

Property is close to Nature Center, Lake Fulmor and various hiking trails.

Absolutely loved our stay, would come again! The breakfast baskets were such a nice touch and the kitchenette facilities were convenient. I loved the design of the room and the bunkhouse.

It says online and on Expedia that they serve free breakfast and they don’t, only on weekends and blankets, didn’t seem to be clean, also no outlets to plug anything

We both enjoyed the fact that we were among only 3 other guests rooms occupied while we were there. For whatever reason(s) may be given, not receiving continental breakast monday through friday made us really sad. Especially since cant stay weekends. Its a good thing i had food with us for early our 1st morning stay. We enjoy the views and friendly staff. We'll be back soon.

The place did not have everything shown in the pictures. Our room did not have the electric stove that was advertised, and despite selecting the "breakfast included" option while booking, we were not provided any breakfast in our room. There was no one at the office—we had to call a number, and the person we spoke to said breakfast is only offered on weekends. However, this was not mentioned in the room's welcome book. He offered oatmeal, but only at 9 AM, which defeats the purpose of booking a bed and breakfast—we specifically chose this place to save time and leave early in the morning. I feel misled. If weekday breakfast isn’t available, the listing should not have offered it as an option during the booking process. Had I known this, I would have booked another property with better amenities for a similar or even lower price. Additionally, the bathroom flush was not working properly, and there were ants in the bed—my child had one crawling on his leg, which caused him to panic. Overall, it was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience.
