Stayed 4 nights

We stayed at Masseria Montepaolo for 4 nights in August and it wasn’t the Puglian escape it sells itself to be. Upon arriving, I was told check in was at 3. I returned at 3 and was ignored for 25 mins, despite asking about check in. The staff then offered to take my bad to my room, I accepted but then had to go down and get it myself after 1.5 hours, despite asking multiple times during that period. Furthermore, on our first night there was a party at the hotel. This was communicated to the guests on check in as a set menu dinner, not a party with loud music, fireworks and 150+ people, that could all be heard from our room. This continued until 1:30am, when we had to go to reception to complain, we were also informed other guests had complained of the noise. Following this, our stay was a bit tarnished, however we were eventually compensated for half our first night. The rooms are small but nicely done with great aircon. Bathrooms could do with updating but they’re functional. The pool and surrounding area is tired, some sunbeds are broken, all umbrellas were ripped and there is visible mould on the plastic filter on the perimeter of the pool.

This is a beautiful hotel, located outside the small town of Conversano in the Puglian countryside. We spent our honeymoon here in late August, and were extremely pleased with our stay! The hotel has a beautiful lush garden in which you can eat dinner in at night, under hundreds of twinkling lights. A very cozy atmosphere. The hotel was very calm and relaxing during the day, and at night the hotel restaurant opened up to the public which created a lovely and warm environment for dinner. The hotel was always full with guests but at the same time never felt crowded or noisy, which was a very positive experience. It was a very relaxing stay! The hotel pool was beautiful and in the afternoon/evening you could grab a drink at the hotel bar and watch the glorious sunset. The hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. A lovely selection of local dishes, and we were very pleased with the menu and the wine selection. The service was impeccable, and the staff were all very kind and accommodating. The staff really made us feel welcome treated us so well! The rooms and facilities were very clean, and well kept after. The hotel has a home-like feel to it, which adds to its charm! If you are looking to explore other areas of Puglia while visiting the hotel, a rental car is recommended. However, we did not have a car but took some day trips by taxi and the hotel helped us arrange this. We would definitely recommend this absolute gem of a hotel to travelers seeking a relaxing stay!

Stayed 3 nights

We stayed for three nights in a quadruple room as a family of 4. Room and bathroom were ok, airconditioning (which was welcome during a heatwave), shower was a bit small and dated but otherwise the bathroom was spacious. The grounds were fantastic: lovely garden with comfortable seating, pool and sun beds. They have their own restaurants on site with seating in the garden and the food was amazing - lots of seafood, hand made pasta dishes and pizza from their own pizza oven. It was so good that we ate there all three nights! Breakfast was good too, plenty of homemade cakes and tasty pastries. The masseria is only a 15 min drive from Polignano a mare and Monopoli, 30 mins from Alberobello, so ideal to explore the area.

Disappointing stay. The staff were unhelpful, the amenities are outdated, and the hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment. I wouldn’t stay here again.
