Lake Bluff Inn and Suites

The shower in the bathroom didn't work/no hot water. The room was gross.

This property clearly has a lot of history and potential, but it is starting to show its age in ways that a fresh coat of paint cannot hide. While the room was a fair value, the maintenance and upkeep lacks a necessary attention to detail. Several areas showed where old fixtures had been removed and simply painted over without repairing the drywall and the hot tub was missing its finishing trim work. More concerning was the bathroom soap dispenser, not only was it empty, it was crudely screwed back into a damaged wall without any finish work. Even the exterior felt unfinished, with blue painter’s tape still visible on the windows. The room’s comfort and functionality also fell short. The mattress was significantly worn, causing my wife and I to roll into the middle throughout the night. The TV was off set in a weird location from the bed. Additionally, the toilet paper holder was placed in an awkward, inconvenient spot, and the hot tub lacked any instructions for operation. Finally, the property is very "no-frills." There are zero amenities on-site—no continental breakfast, no vending or pop machines and the ice machine was difficult to locate. It is a pleasant enough stay for the price, but the property would benefit greatly from a maintenance professional who focuses on the smaller finishing touches and basic guest conveniences.

When we got there we could not get into the room. We were given keys and it was a keyless entry so I had to get on the phone to communicate to the front office. Then we had to drive back to the office to pick up key cards. And those did not work. All while standing outside in a snow storm. The other room we rented to friends did not work. They had to replace those locks so they were put into a different room away from all of us staying. We had 4 rooms total. The lady at the front desk was very apologetic about everything. I feel like we should have had some type of compensation. The ice machine was not operational, the hot tub was not hot. The panel for the water in the bathroom was on the floor when we walked in. There was also a humming in the room continuously all the time. My husband and I didn’t even sleep. We were just waiting to leave with our other company who drove. We would have left that night if we would have driven. Again no reflection on the lady in the office but I would not choose to go back.
