My stay at the Waterfront Hotel was the best hotel experience I have ever had. The length the staff will go to in order to meet your requests is simply amazing. The hotel has it's own app with which you can chat with the staff at all times - yes, even in the middle of the night. They are extremely helpful and courteous. The true stand out of this whole experience. If nothing else you should visit just for this. Luckily, there are also other things to thoroughly enjoy at the Waterfront. There's the big and varied breakfast buffet where cooks will prepare custom omelets and Sarawak laksa for you, every day has a new flavor of freshly made fruit smoothies and a barista carefully prepares your coffee. Then there's the pool area which has it's own bar. And let me tell you: the bartenders know what they're doing. Carefully crafted cocktails made to your exact specifications. You don't even have to ask for customization - they will make sure to ask you for it. If shopping is your thing the hotel has a direct access to the Merdeka shopping center which has lots of stores. I just used it for the ATM though. Rooms are kept very clean and you can pick when you want the room cleaned through a smart, little system located on the wall in the room. There's an option for privacy and one for cleaning. Cleaning was perfect. Also, I had a King River View room and the king size bed was amazing. If you are going to Borneo make sure to stay at the Waterfront Hotel!

Super Hotel direkt am Fluss. Wir hatten ein Executive-Zimmer, man konnte den ganzen Tag in der Lounge diverse alkoholfreie Getränke kostenlos genießen, von 13-16 Uhr gab es kleine Süßigkeiten und von 17 - 19 Uhr kleine Häppchen (für uns als Abendessen völlig ausreichend, Salat, 2-3 Fleischgerichte, Beilagen) und das mit schöner Aussicht. Im Untergeschoss gibt es einen großen Supermarkt, man kann direkt mit dem Aufzug aufs Zimmer. Der Transfer vom und zum Flughafen war kostenlos! Wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen.

Excellent stay at The Waterfront. The service was impeccable, the bed and pillows were the comfiest I've experienced, breakfast had a wide selection of foods The airport shuttle service was great. I especially liked the hotel cat called Orange. I didn't get a chance to use the pool area as it was closed for VIP events when I tried.

Great location for the hotel at the waterfront and above the Merkada shopping centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed on the executive floor with all day access to the lounge. They offered a sufficient breakfast in the lounge but had limited choices for a vegetarian diet in the evening. It looked like a great menu for meat eaters though for hors d’oeuvres. Also, happy hour was restricted to wine and beer. Beautiful views from our room and lounge.

The hotel is connected to the shopping mall so it's really convenient. We really enjoyed the club lounge (staff there is really nice!) and they even provide the airport transfer for free which is a big plus. We didn't expect too much of the hotel but the hotel is much nicer than the photo on their website. We strongly recommend to stay the club room if your budget allowed.

This is an old hotel. But it’s very charming. Not 5* but still good. Staff were all lovely. Breakfast buffet is amazing. The gym is good. The pool Is a nice environment but the water was cold. We enjoyed the pool bar a lot with a great view over the river. It’s a well located hotel and the trips all pick up here. Room was large and comfortable. Shower was excellent. We’d definitely stay again.

Love this hotel - friendly staff reflect Kuching itself. Amazing room service, access to shopping mall in hotel, great views, amazing breakfast buffet, I want to go back ! Only small complaint might be that the elevators are slow and get busy with shopping mall users, wedding and conference guests, etc - but don't let this small matter deter you from staying here !

Overall pleasant stay with friendly staff. Large room but a bit tired, hotel in need of refurb, certainly redecoration. Breakfast good selection. Good location. Swimming pool in shaded area, open but recessed under a roof so no sun and cool water. No outside space any where to enjoy the sun, except a small space for the smokers! From previous reviews was expecting top notch! It wasn’t!

We booked a premier 2-bedroom apartment. The main room was lovely, bright and great view of the river and the surrounding. The 2nd room and the common seating area had much improvements needed. The areas smell from a lack of sunlight and ventilation. While it is not possible to reconfigure the rooms, the 2nd bedroom and common seating area could benefit from brighter condition and air purifier.

Great location and very helpful staff. Rooms are looking a little dated but they are large and very comfortable. Great bed. Very good breakfast. A little black mould around the shower that should be removed. But this is a minor flaw for an otherwise excellent hotel.

The pool is cold and covered, so there is no sundeck, we did not enjoy it. Drinks are not the best. Rooms are fine, but even we stayed on the executive floor with a great view, the aircon was noisy and vibrated the entire room, and it was just on or off, no settings worked. The bed was old and we didn't sleep to well. The breakfast buffet looked good, but the bread was stale and the cakes dry and the service crew looked to care about nothing. We would not recommend to stay here if you like to use the pool and bar and sleep well. Location is great in the middle of the Waterfront area, but can be noisy around weekends.

We booked a premier 2-bedroom apartment. The main room was lovely, bright and great view of the river and the surrounding. The 2nd room and the common seating area had much improvements needed. The areas smell from a lack of sunlight and ventilation. While it is not possible to reconfigure the rooms, the 2nd bedroom and common seating area could benefit from brighter condition and air purifier.

Great location for the hotel at the waterfront and above the Merkada shopping centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed on the executive floor with all day access to the lounge. They offered a sufficient breakfast in the lounge but had limited choices for a vegetarian diet in the evening. It looked like a great menu for meat eaters though for hors d’oeuvres. Also, happy hour was restricted to wine and beer. Beautiful views from our room and lounge.

This is an old hotel. But it’s very charming. Not 5* but still good. Staff were all lovely. Breakfast buffet is amazing. The gym is good. The pool Is a nice environment but the water was cold. We enjoyed the pool bar a lot with a great view over the river. It’s a well located hotel and the trips all pick up here. Room was large and comfortable. Shower was excellent. We’d definitely stay again.

We stayed for 9 nights at the Waterfront Hotel when visiting family in Kuching. Our room was large, quiet and bright and we enjoyed our river view. The area is very convenient and we strolled around the old town and ate out in the area. There is a shopping mall attached and the food court is very convenient. Breakfasts at the hotel were quite good. The only slightly annoying situation was the shower which leaked onto the bathroom floor. Installing a rubber strip at the bottom of the door would be a good idea. Otherwise, we would stay again on our next trip.

My stay at the Waterfront Hotel was the best hotel experience I have ever had. The length the staff will go to in order to meet your requests is simply amazing. The hotel has it's own app with which you can chat with the staff at all times - yes, even in the middle of the night. They are extremely helpful and courteous. The true stand out of this whole experience. If nothing else you should visit just for this. Luckily, there are also other things to thoroughly enjoy at the Waterfront. There's the big and varied breakfast buffet where cooks will prepare custom omelets and Sarawak laksa for you, every day has a new flavor of freshly made fruit smoothies and a barista carefully prepares your coffee. Then there's the pool area which has it's own bar. And let me tell you: the bartenders know what they're doing. Carefully crafted cocktails made to your exact specifications. You don't even have to ask for customization - they will make sure to ask you for it. If shopping is your thing the hotel has a direct access to the Merdeka shopping center which has lots of stores. I just used it for the ATM though. Rooms are kept very clean and you can pick when you want the room cleaned through a smart, little system located on the wall in the room. There's an option for privacy and one for cleaning. Cleaning was perfect. Also, I had a King River View room and the king size bed was amazing. If you are going to Borneo make sure to stay at the Waterfront Hotel!

Excellent stay at The Waterfront. The service was impeccable, the bed and pillows were the comfiest I've experienced, breakfast had a wide selection of foods The airport shuttle service was great. I especially liked the hotel cat called Orange. I didn't get a chance to use the pool area as it was closed for VIP events when I tried.

Not a bad place, relatively clean and comfortable. Location is great as every place in old Kuching is just a short walk away. But as usual, it takes one staff to spoil the stay. We booked 2x family rooms on the Club Floor, so that we could use the Club. We got to check in at the Club, and we were told that we could use it, all 6 of us, as long it was open. However, for breakfast on the 4th floor, it would only be for 4, and we'd have to pay for 2. No issues there. On the 2nd day of the stay, we were told that only up to 4 could use the lounge, and that we would have to pay MYR39 each for the other 2 pax. What?!!! And that is for each entry, i.e., for tea time, and then for "Happy Hour" (inverted commas because there's no alcohol served). We just needed to use the lounge to discuss our activities since we weren't in adjoining rooms. Some times we didn't even take a drink. The charge didn't make sense, and I told the staff that was not what we were told at the start. She later came back to say she spoke to the manager and we'd all get 'complimentary' lounge entry for the rest of the stay. Strange, I thought that's why you pay the extra for the Club Floor to start with.

The ease of check in was very convenient as we were able to check in before the stipulated time. In terms of location, you have the convenience of being located on the river front and doorstep of a mall, but also shielded from the noise and hustle and bustle should you not be a shopping fan! The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options. The Food and Beverages manager on the evening of Sat 16 Nov 24 was outstanding; He took the time to recommend and explain the local dishes. Jee is also worth mentioning as she went above and beyond in her service. Great place to stay - would come back again.

The pool is cold and covered, so there is no sundeck, we did not enjoy it. Drinks are not the best. Rooms are fine, but even we stayed on the executive floor with a great view, the aircon was noisy and vibrated the entire room, and it was just on or off, no settings worked. The bed was old and we didn't sleep to well. The breakfast buffet looked good, but the bread was stale and the cakes dry and the service crew looked to care about nothing. Large hotel near the promenade and the pedestrian bridge over the river, which makes it extremely convenient for visiting sites on the opposite bank. Near museums, historic sites, boat tours. Adjacent to a shopping mall with a food court. Large, comfortable room. The river view from our room was absolutely stunning! Nice breakfast buffet with occasional live music performances. Highly recommend!

Located in the historic heart of the city which is great (but does comes with city sounds). The view from the pool deck is perfect for iconic pictures, especially for the bonus night fountain show across the river. The pool itself is a little too cold without any sun on it. The highlight of our stay was the customer service. Frankie was like our personal concierge, he granted us a wonderful room upgrade and arranged a rental car for us in the most seamless car hire experience I’ve ever had. The attached shopping mall is great to have right there for anything you need or just a break in the A/C.

Very nice hotel with good facilities and good location in the centre of Kuching. However, I paid extra for a club room and while afternoon refreshments were available, there was NO Club breakfast. I found the breakfast was in a VERY crowded dining room in the 4th floor and that spoiled my enjoyment of breakfast!! I think if you pay extra for Club, then you must have your breakfast in peace & quiet on the club floor

This is an old hotel. But it’s very charming. Not 5* but still good. Staff were all lovely. Breakfast buffet is amazing. The gym is good. The pool Is a nice environment but the water was cold. We enjoyed the pool bar a lot with a great view over the river. It’s a well located hotel and the trips all pick up here. Room was large and comfortable. Shower was excellent. We’d definitely stay again.

The ease of check in was very convenient as we were able to check in before the stipulated time. In terms of location, you have the convenience of being located on the river front and doorstep of a mall, but also shielded from the noise and hustle and bustle should you not be a shopping fan! The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options. The Food and Beverages manager on the evening of Sat 16 Nov 24 was outstanding; He took the time to recommend and explain the local dishes. Jee is also worth mentioning as she went above and beyond in her service. Great place to stay - would come back again.

We stayed at The Waterfront Hotel for 10 days during the WYC 2026 Bowling Championships, and it was an excellent choice. The location is fantastic, with the waterfront, plenty of restaurants, and local attractions all within easy walking distance. After long days at the bowling center, it was great to have a relaxing area to walk around and unwind. The shopping mall connected to the hotel was very convenient, and we also enjoyed the pool and gym during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel provided everything we needed for a comfortable 10-day stay. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Kuching.

Great location within walking distance of the river. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean and well appointed. The bartenders at the rooftop bar can make a mean whisky sour and gave great recommendations for nearby restaurants.

Room was comfortable (twin beds) though windows needed cleaning and no longer open (screwed down), large TV ok with a very limited set of Astro Satellite channels. Small fridge but it did not have an ice box so you need to ring down to have ice sent up. Room service includes a scaled down version of the 4th floor restaurant menu. Pool with bar on the 4th floor too also serves the same food. Draught Guinness (500ml pints) was very good with view of the river and China town area. Underground parking good and connected to the shopping mall in the same building so it can be busy. Staff were helpful and smiley. Close to the main river waterfront area as the name suggests but also close to bars and restaurants in side streets. Only downside was being close to open areas where festivals sometimes mean noisy music in the mornings. Overall not bad.
