Found the room cold even with the AC set on 25 degrees. Room alarm clock went off at 06:00 even though I didnt set an alarm. Shower water pressure was very poor. Gym facilities are very basic and the multifunction machine was out of order further limiting the options. Other than that the room was clean and the staff were helpful.

While the hotel was in an ideal location for seeing historic Edinburgh there is NO way to park the car other than on a major busy road with hazard lights on, while hauling luggage in and out the hotel, it was a nightmare. Parking is quite a walk for elderly and due to the traffic system and nightmare to drive back to the hotel door. We booked a taxi once and the hotel let another couple take it before us....

Hotel was a great end to our 2 week tour around Scotland. The parking was my biggest concern but the hotel partnered with Omni at the nearby shopping center and as long as you pre booked it went very smoothly. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. The restaurant was pretty good with great staff. We had breakfast, dinner and drinks and enjoyed our experience each time.

Great hotel in a great location, near to tram stop. The only negative would be the breakfast service. The breakfast restaurant is closed for refurbishment and the restaurant where breakfast was served was carnage! Very busy and people seated in the wrong place.

The location of the hotel is ideal for the Playhouse Theatre, the city centre and many places of interest in Edinburgh. There was a problem with dinner on one evening in the 1802 restaurant but breakfast was very good. Lunch time snack arrangements and facilities were generally very good with a fairly comprehensive selection. There is obviously a lack of a dedicated parking facility at the Marriott Courtyard but the Q Park OMNI car parking facility is very close-by and the arrangement works well.

Overall fairly good comfortable stay in a nice central location. Felt the bar service was. Bit slow tbh. It was incumbent on me to try and procure drinks most of the time from some staff members disinterested in serving drinks unless you generated the communication in the seating area. You could sit for ten minutes or more with anyone asking you what would you like to drink.

We enjoyed our stay. Room and breakfast was excellent. Having to park offsite was less convenient but common in Edinburgh. Make sure to book parking in advance to get discount!

The Courtyard by Marriott located on Baxter street is a great property. The location is ideal to walk to great restaurants, attractions and shopping in all directions. The staff are all attentive and professional. My room and bathroom were very clean. I used the workout room and although it’s not large they have 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical and 1 bike for cardio machines. It’s equipped with plenty of towels and a water fountain. They also have free weights, 1 bench, bands, mats and 1 weight machine. It’s comfortable for 3 considerate people to workout at one time in the room. The breakfast buffet has many ready made options to satisfy different food needs for people around the world. You can also have a few items specially prepared if you prefer or have dietary restrictions. I would definitely start here again.

The property is located in a perfect location in my opinion. You can take the tram right out of the airport and it will drop you off a short walk away. The Edinburgh bus station is a short walk away, all the tourist attractions are in a walkable distance. The property itself is nice but unfortunately going through some construction when we stayed. The room we stayed in was a bit small but this was expected. A few issues we had was the room cleaning which seemed to be lacking ex: gave us one towel, didn’t restock our toilet paper, and left used glasses in our room. One thing that I just genuinely couldn’t get over was the toilet. It was a square toilet which just made it extremely difficult and awkward to use. I’m not sure if this is a standard for the UK or just a design choice but I’m thankful I don’t have to use it again lol. The shower was nice but it had low water pressure and I have never been a fan of the half walled showers as water gets all over the floor or rug on the open side. Our bed was a bit lumpy and we both had some issues sleeping but we powered through it. Overall we got what we paid for and the hotel was in a perfect location for us.

Fantastic location so very easy to get around town. Room was good size with a nice view of an old church and breakfast was decent. The issue was the room wasn’t cleaned very well/if at all during our stay and they didn’t clear away cups or clean and didn’t even give us the correct number of towels on the last day. Aside from that it was a good hotel for a short break.

The rooms were both really filthy. Lots of dust on top of the wardrobes, units and window sills. The carpets were so dirty and hadn’t been hoovered. The shower tray was dirty and the bathroom floor too. The tea and coffee facility was full of paper bits of the previous guests and full of sugar everywhere. Very poor standard of the Marriott. These rooms are overpriced and should have been checked on a regular basis. Spoiled our weekend in Edinburgh which was meant to be top notch.

Lovely overnight stay at this hotel. Rooms were great and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was amazing , fantastic choice . All hotel staff very friendly. Perfect location. Looking forward to another stay soon. Would highly recommend.

Room was not properly cleaned, keys did not work first time, front desk staff was not to the level expected of a mariott brand. Room was not cleaned before 4pm, and not even properly - tissue box was not even filled again. When departing we were asked if the stay was good, our answer was moderate and no follow up feedback was asked. I would recommend to cross the street and use Holiday Inn instead, service level is the same. Only positive is the breakfast, which was outstanding.

Brilliant location, close to Princes street shops and art gallery, close to Bonny ane Wild (choice of restaurants in one mall). Gorgeous decor ground floor bar, very welcoming staff on reception on arrival (especially Kirsty who helped us resolve an issue with our room), room decent size, 2 double beds, nice and light faced the road but double glazing so quiet. Bathrooms needed an upgrade as shower had damp in the sealant and they need to install ventilation/fans to reduce damp issues in bathrooms. Staff were excellent all in all, from front desk to the ops manager (Wilbert?). Breakfast superb and again lovely staff, nice dining room and good selection. Option of omelette on the menu would have been good as scrambled eggs and fritatta for self service breakfast were tasteless. Aside from that really lovely stay, would recommend!

We loved our stay at this hotel. We upgraded our room and had an amazing view outside of our window of Calton Hill, a stocked mini-fridge and a Nespresso machine at our disposal. The staff was excellent in giving recommendations on where to go and what to see. Our room was spacious and comfortable for my husband and I for our stay and had a nice closet with plenty of hangers to hang our clothes and get them out of the suitcase. We walked everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel and only took us about 20-30 minutes to get from the train station. I will say there is a nice hill you walk up that will get your heart rate going for sure. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be back.

Staff were great. Very helpful and friendly. Hot breakfast was lovely and great quality bacon. Hotel was in a great location, and next to the Playhouse Theatre, so we booked tickets for Moulin Rouge which was brilliant. We were given 40% discount via an email the day before arrival for the car park, which was 2 minutes away. The only thing we’d change would be the beds, they were very soft

Our window looked at a wall and fire escape. The TV would not turn off, we had to unplug it. The WIFI had an expired certificate and we could not connect. As a platinum member with a high floor preference on my account, we were placed on the 3rd floor; 2 floors below the lobby! The bright side, the staff were great as well as the breakfast. It was also very quiet.

Nice stay, lovely receptionist who gave my wife a wee box of chocs for her birthday, nice touch. Everything was as expected, nice room, very nice large and comfortable bed. I found the pillows small and a little uncomfortable but my wife liked them. Only criticism was the TV. None of the internet services worked and there was no way to connect your phone other than Bluetooth for audio. Disappointing in 2023! Also there was an alarm set for 7am on the TV which must have been set by previous guest. I slept through it but the wife didn't!
Nice stay, lovely receptionist who gave my wife a wee box of chocs for her birthday, nice touch. Everything was as expected, nice room, very nice large and comfortable bed. Paper thin walls!! Neighbouring room came home late and wok us up. They weren’t even that loud- we could hear people talking, tv, was as if they were in our room with us.

Lovely hotel and in a good location for old town, etc. Room is good size and clean, bed comfortable. The only thing was the air condition did not work properly, it struggled to cool the room down, but we were able to open the window which helped. Very helpful and friendly staff.

It was a fine stay. We stayed on the first floor which was in the basement. No light. Breakfast was not great. Second night i just picked up coffee and a breakfast sandwich from a local bakery.

Staff were amazingly helpful. We had a car breakdown en route and were allowed to check in early to run back down the m8 to save them. Hotel is beautiful. Comfortable, well equipped, and conveniently located. Beds and pillows are so comfy, shower works well and the room was spacious. I have not one single complaint.

The check in process was very easy, offered to hold our bags when our room wasn’t ready and then whilst we were chatting a room became free! Jake checked us in and offered great suggestions of where to visit close by. The check out process was also very easy. Room was nice, big TV and clean.

We have stayed in this Hotel a few times and we really like the location and the friendliness of the staff. They are doing alterations to the reception area but it did not affect us at all. The staff are very friendly and helpful and breakfast was very good.

I’m surprised by some of the recent reviews about the rooms - they’re clean, comfortable, and exactly what you’d expect from a Marriott! I had a great stay, except for the morning of check out. Check out is noon, and so I was trying to do some work in the room in the morning. Despite the do not disturb sign, housekeeping knocked and interrupted at 9:30am, and then again at 10:30, just to see if I had left. They should get this information from reception and not continuously interrupt.

Absolutely love this hotel and am happy to stay here every time I visit Edinburgh. This is my fourth stay so far. Only difference this time was the bar staff wasn’t as helpful and never brought an item I requested twice. Overall though I love this hotel.

Overall fairly good comfortable stay in a nice central location. Felt the bar service was. Bit slow tbh. It was incumbent on me to try and procure drinks most of the time from some staff members disinterested in serving drinks unless you generated the communication in the seating area. You could sit for ten minutes or more with anyone asking you what would you like to drink.

Booked a room almost 4 months in advance and traveled 16 hours from California, only to be told at reception that they’re overbooked and can’t give me a room for the night. They offered a room at Mariott Holyrood at £400/night, and wouldn’t even give me a decent discount (let alone comp it, which I think would be the right thing to do). Absolutely never again.

Host Renae was amazing - she give us a new room 5 min after we checked in (the room’s aircon wasn't working and there was a vinegar smell to the room). Breakfast was good, but the waiters seems a bit unorganised… we ordered eggs and pancakes, but received plates upon plates over what we ordered (lol). We saw other tables experiencing the same issues. (At some point it felt like they were testing us to see if we would beg them to stop).

There were some building works going on while we were there - no disturbance from them at all, but it did make the layout a bit confusing. On arrival, we were checked into a room that had not been cleaned. After reporting the issue, the staff moved us to another (upgraded) room and offered free drinks and breakfast to compensate. Super location, close to a tram stop and a short walk to the main train station. You can get a tram from the airport that takes about 40 minutes and stops a few metres from the hotel. Friendly helpful staff.

The hotel is in an outstanding location. Easy walk too many great sites, including the Royal Mile. Also conveniently located by many transportation options. Hotel staff was very friendly the restaurant has good options for dinner. The breakfast buffet is very good. Although my one criticism would be that the cost varies if you book it 24 hours in advanced it’s £17.50. If you go the day of it’s £22 I don’t get that the rooms are spacious and quite comfortable kudos to the housekeeping staff they were very much on top of everything cleaned my room every day. I requested it with the exception that they did not change the sheets other than that they were great. I would highly recommend the hotel.

We liked that we could walk to pretty much anywhere in the city! It was close to Waverley station too. There's a brand new mall across the street that has great options if you're not feeling traditional pub food, also lots of shopping. The tram also has a stop right outside the hotel. The hotel is in front of Calton Hill so it's easy to navigate. There's also a pub right next door for a quick meal!

Wonderful stay with Courtyard Edinburgh! 4 min walk from the tram line, which brought us everywhere we needed to go. Also within walking distance of Old Town, Waverly Station and lots of other destinations. Room was spacious and clean, bed comfortable!

It was walkable to all the most places you would want to see in in the city. The only thing that was hard was it was hard to park and unload our luggage in front of the hotel because if its location but overall it’s a very nice hotel

It was ok. Room was very cold during the night even though we had the AC set at 25°c. There was also a noise, like a generator, for part of the night. Breakfast was not great. Scrambled eggs were a bit rubbery and hash browns were hard. Raspberry muffins looked amazing but sponge wasn’t cooked properly. It took me several tries to get a clean hot plate, a lot of them were dirty

Great hotel in a great location, near to tram stop. The only negative would be the breakfast service. The breakfast restaurant is closed for refurbishment and the restaurant where breakfast was served was carnage! Very busy and people seated in the wrong place.

My girlfriend and I stayed for Valentine’s Day. I was very comfortable. Breakfast was nice. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night which was fabulous, but unfortunately on Saturday I had to wait over an hour for my main meal.

The location of the hotel is ideal for the Playhouse Theatre, the city centre and many places of interest in Edinburgh. There was a problem with dinner on one evening in the 1802 restaurant but breakfast was very good. Lunch time snack arrangements and facilities were generally very good with a fairly comprehensive selection. There is obviously a lack of a dedicated parking facility at the Marriott Courtyard but the Q Park OMNI car parking facility is very close-by and the arrangement works well.

Helpful enough-just didn’t live up to the image one has of the Scottish (especially post World Cup). Bar/food very over priced-especially with brilliant food hall next store. Again, solid hotel. Just jagged around the edges. Would recommend.

As an Elite member and Gold customer, I was very disappointed with my (rather expensive) room. This room like most of the rooms in the hotel, face a dark, ugly parking area. I booked the room nearly 6 months in advance, but it was «impossible» to give me a room facing the street/ the facade side of the hotel. So even if you don’t stay in your room for longer periods, looking out of the window, avoid this hotel.
