Beautiful little place. We stayed in one of the pods they were very cosy and comfortable. Showers and toilets available which were also very clean.

The staff are lovely and the area around the pub is great. We like the set up with only 4 huts and it feels safe. The downside are the beds. They were really uncomfortable and the sofa bed had wood going across the middle and was hard. We ended up all 3 sharing a bed which was tight plus this bed had a very basic mattress. A side light or nightlight would be beneficial. Would also benefit from more toilets and an extra shower as all 4 cabins sharing is a lot. We ate in the pub and the staff are always lovely and the food was good. Breakfast was a highlight. We like the garden area too.

Unless you like the equivalent of a poor campsite please avoid this place! The pictures make it look like the cabins have a shower and toilet. They do not! You are sharing one cold outside loo and one cold outside shower with 5 other cabins. We visited in winter so not only was it too cold, but there was actually no running water anyway! The cabins are really small, 2 very uncomfortable beds with old bedding, and I no personally felt unsafe behind a door made of MDF! This was expensive when less well equipped than many campsites. We will not be returning! On a positive note the staff were responsive and the breakfast was great!

Food was outstanding people were so nice, the cabins are lovely just small and no places for clothes. Only issue with the cabins are the toilet and showers are not in them, although there are facilities there just not the most suitable.

Disappointing Shepherd Hut accommodation. It could be so good but even the small investment in bedside lamps in simple bedside tables was missing. One shared toilet and one shared shower between four huts. Old cheap mattresses, scruffy cheap linens and towels, and single coat hook on walls for clothes rounded it off. The breakfast were quite good and staff were helpful and friendly but that’s the only positive I’m afraid. We ate dinner with friends one evening, again food was ok and service helpful and friendly. Just a few improvements would make an enormous difference, but they seem to sell so they presumably hhink it’s good enough. It’s not. Wouldn’t return.

Room in the Windmill was clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Loved being able to have a deep luxurious bath... so relaxing after being out in Whitby and walking most of the day Staff were welcoming and very accommodating. Got asked every morning if we needed anything doing or replacing in the room. Breakfasts and evening meals were amazing, with lots of choice and using locally resourced produce. Need to have a good appetite as portions were more than ample. Sunday lunch was unbelievable. Very popular family friendly pub, but plenty of seating outside to sit and unwind on a summer evening and enjoy the lovely views. Noise from the bar on an evening could be a put off for some but it wasn't an issue for us.

Very friendly staff as they made us feel welcomed straight away. Great food but must book as it gets busy due to the small size of the pub. Loved the bath tub in the bedroom, very victorian.

Amazing weekend staff fantastic. Sharon lola loved you and she taught her. Dog friendly. Food amazing and spectacular views.food and drink good prices. Good value for money. Slight improvements could be a fridge and dustpan in sheperds hut and a bin in back garden. Thanks for an wonderful weekend.

The staff was very polite. The place was clean however there was a massive crack in the window in the room and the radiator didn’t work in the bathroom. There is a car parking place however it can be hard to park there due to people going to pub so had to park on the road. It was clean it was noisy at times as the room was above the pub wouldn’t say it was worth the £160 for the night

Had a lovely 4 night stay. The room was very clean..bathroom too. Enough drawers and storage space. The food was amazing. Breakfast was lovely..good quality and great portions. Restaurant/ bar food brilliant. Food good quality..cooked and presented really well. Staff very accommodating and friendly.

Nothing to like on the whole. Outside property not appealing. Stairs up to room - carpet was dirty. Room decor needed attention. Paint peeling from wall. Curtain tieback hooks fell out of wall. Bathroom clean and new looking. Over bath shower but no shower screen. No toiletries apart from Aldi hand soap. Bed comfortable. Good breakfast.

The shepherds hut was reasonably but a sticky floor on one side of the bed. Due to the time of year the heating provided was not adequate. Mattress was average and not very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Spent one night in the shepards huts, it was lovely, quiet and peaceful. Facilities were clean and breakfast was amazing. We will definitely return for a longer break!

Overall pleasant stay, presented well and clean. Amazing breakfast with friendly staff. Room was generous size. Our main complaints are the floodlight shining through the window all night with thin curtains, speaker in the ceiling downstairs that hasn’t been soundproofed so there’s fairly loud music playing when trying to sleep and lack of decent shower that’s also nearly impossible to set at a consistent temperature. One minor thing is the plaster crumbling off the wall by the window making it look a bit neglected. Location is quiet and short drive from Whitby centre.
Overall pleasant stay, presented well and clean. Amazing breakfast with friendly staff. Room was generous size. The staff and the breakfast were awesome. I did feel all the pub locals stared at us on walking through the pub though. Our room was above the pub door, we heard the door bang every time someone entered or left. Sunday morning the music was on really loud and really early so not really the relaxing weekend we thought.

Room in the Windmill was clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Loved being able to have a deep luxurious bath... so relaxing after being out in Whitby and walking most of the day Staff were welcoming and very accommodating. Need to have a good appetite as portions were more than ample. Sunday lunch was unbelievable. The staff was very polite. The place was clean however there was a massive crack in the window in the room and the radiator didn’t work in the bathroom. There is a car parking place however it can be hard to park there due to people going to pub so had to park on the road. It was clean it was noisy at times as the room was above the pub wouldn’t say it was worth the £160 for the night

Had a lovely 4 night stay. The room was very clean..bathroom too. Enough drawers and storage space. The food was amazing. Breakfast was lovely..good quality and great portions. The staff and the breakfast were awesome. I did feel all the pub locals stared at us on walking through the pub though. Our room was above the pub door, we heard the door bang every time someone entered or left. Sunday morning the music was on really loud and really early so not really the relaxing weekend we thought.

Overall pleasant stay, presented well and clean. Amazing breakfast with friendly staff. Room was generous size. Our main complaints are the floodlight shining through the window all night with thin curtains, speaker in the ceiling downstairs that hasn’t been soundproofed so there’s fairly loud music playing when trying to sleep and lack of decent shower that’s also nearly impossible to set at a consistent temperature. One minor thing is the plaster crumbling off the wall by the window making it look a bit neglected. Location is quiet and short drive from Whitby centre.

Loved our stay in the shepherds hut. Great family get away in a lovely location. Fun alternative to our usual camping. Lovely facilities, amazing welcoming staff and delicious breakfast. Short drive to all local destinations…wish we had stayed another night!

Food was outstanding people were so nice, the cabins are lovely just small and no places for clothes. Only issue with the cabins are the toilet and showers are not in them, although there are facilities there just not the most suitable.

Very friendly staff as they made us feel welcomed straight away. Great food but must book as it gets busy due to the small size of the pub. Loved the bath tub in the bedroom, very victorian.

Arrived at the hotel to find we were staying in a wooden hut around the back of the pub. Not very comfortable at all. One of the beds was absolutely rock hard, I wouldn’t have let a stray dog stay in it. No toilet, had to use one at the other end of the garden which is not practical getting up in the middle of the night to go outside in the pouring down rain. No bedside table or lamp, had to put the big light on in the middle of the night to use the loo. No chair or cupboard in the room to store bags, clothes etc. The sink in the outside loo was tiny and not ideal when trying to wash your face. Was woken up at 3am to hear larger louts shouting and chanting. (Not sure if the pub had had a lock in) either way it made me feel very vulnerable being in a little wooden hut with my 71 year old mother and two young children, made me very scared. Had booked to stay for 2 nights but I wanted to leave after 1. Breakfast was nice, can’t fault that. Wouldn’t stay there again though.
