This is a beautiful resort that is a bit far from town but very lovely and quiet. They have wonderful staff that are happy to help you. There are events to that you can do while on the property- I did a horseback ride to the "top of the world" with my kids. It was wonderful, and we saw 2 waterfalls as well. The resort has a nice trail where you can see a fumerole- steam and hot water coming from the ground- and bubbling mud too. There is ziplining and plenty of food choices at the restaurant. They all spoke English and were so kind to my family. I didn't try the spa but I'm sure it's top notch too.

A beautiful location on the slopes of Rincon de la Vieja, Borinquen Thermal Resort is a treat in the heart of the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. From the finely appointed rooms to the spacious, lush grounds, to the superb restaurants, this resort stay was one-of-a-kind. Staff was friendly, helpful, and good at their jobs. The pool (with swim up bar) and the natural thermal-fed hot pools were both relaxing and invigorating. The food and drinks were terrific any time of day and served by genial staff. There are thermal features on the property, a small, but quality hiking trail, and wildlife was abundant. With Spider and Howler Monkeys in the trees, iguanas and coatimunde roaming the grounds, and toucans and a wide variety of colorful birds overhead, we did not have to leave the property to enjoy nature's abundance. We also chose to venture with a knowledgeable guide to two photogenic waterfalls through a dense forest populated by many bird species. Borinquen Thermal Resort prides itself on sustainability, and staying there we really felt one with the environment.

Loved the property. Each bungalow was completely separate from the others on a hill, so there was no noise at night (except the howler monkeys). Very peaceful and the pool, hot springs, sauna and hiking trail were easy to access.

Lovely peaceful property. We enjoyed the natural sauna, mineral pools, mud bath, swimming pool, hiking trails; a great way to spend the last 2 nights of our 2-week vacation in Costa Rica.

Beautiful grounds and super comfortable room. Loved the hot springs, volcanic mud bath, and pool! Amazing wildlife all around. Great short trail and petroglyph. Not easy to get there, but worth it when you arrive! We did not do the zipline or spa but it looked fun! Got busy with day trippers at the pool mid day.

The property is amazing! Has all the amenities and wonderful spa on site. Food was delicious! Had to pay extra but the horseback riding, hiking to see waterfalls and zip-lining across the mountains were just out of this world experience...

This was an amazing property. Beautiful location and great service. Plenty of activities! Even on a rainy days, you can enjoy the sauna and hot springs. The swimming pool was enjoyable and we saw monkeys in the trees while we were at the pool and restaurant. The property is beautiful. I enjoyed walking everywhere, but there was also a shuttle service available. I definitely plan on going back again!

Big, clean rooms. Excellent breakfast and dinner menu. Friendly staff. It is a 2 minute walk up beach, this beach is quite rustic and a few more minutes to walk to more sandy beach. My only con was the outdoor grounds could have used a power wash and the pool sitting area was dirty and slimy.

the linens were in terrible condition, they felt like sandpaper. I have never encounter worst quality linens in any hotel and I have spent a lot of time in hotels. they also had bed bugs, I have many bites. to make matters worst, we were low on gasoline and asked I they could sell us some since it is a very remote area, and they sold us one gallon for 25 dollars, which I found abusive.

The resort is peaceful and clean. Most staff was friendly. We only had one unpleasant experience. On Tuesday, the twelfth. I think his name was Eric. My husband stayed he spoke to him rudely. I loved Jose Maria and Genesis! They are genuinely kind and friendly. I would love to go back, however, the road leading to the resort is very rough! You almost need a 4 x 4. It’s a dirt road and lots of curves and narrow! I can not imagine it when it rains. I also noticed some small worms in the room. I didn’t mind it since the resort is out in nature. I think they were harmless. The pool is very beautiful and so is the dining area.

This is a great place for spa. It is out of the way so unless you rent a car - you are stuck at the resort. We were there in the off season, so we only had access to the one restaurant. However, the staff was very friendly, the pool and spas were very clean and the staff was friendly. One major downside is that the bungalows are going to be uphill. So going to and from the pools and spas from breakfasts and/or excursions will have you hiking a fairly steep road.

Excellent clean beautiful peaceful place! With amazing views of forest and mountains. Very peaceful and most beautiful scenic place. Staff very nice and helpful and polite. We loved our stay. Must visit! We will come back again. Highly recommended

Personal atento y con excelente servicio al cliente, jardines hermosos impecablemente cuidados, habitaciones cómodas, podria sugerir cambiar las camas a tamaño queen y algunos detalles de mantenimiento para mantener la propiedad en perfecto estado. En general un lugar hermoso para relajarse y disfrutar con tranquilidad, regresaremos.

Beautiful property with large pool area and thermal pools with walking trails. Stayed in junior suite high above and was able to see amazing sunset. Room service offerings were limited to dinner, resort is not easily walkable, you need to request shuttle if you stay higher up in suites. Road to get to resort was very rocky, but worth it.

Dejlig lokation med en dejlig pool og fantastisk beliggenhed, man kan gå på nogle små trafiks hvor mam får naturen på meget tæt hold. Værelset/bungalowen var lidt slidt. Sødt personale, både ved pool, restaurant og i receptionen.

This was a beautiful place to stay. We loved having our own little private cottage. So picturesque. Very secluded, long bumpy drive to get to the hotel but I feel it was worth it. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast other than that food was really just ok.

It needs to improve comfort, missing pool chairs, but more important is the fact that each cabin as a beautiful patio area and basically you can not use it, because the sitting space is so uncomfortable, has old date chair where you can not seat more than 4 minutes and rocking tables were you are insecure to leave even a glass in there. Staff is friendly but needs more training to answer in a better way question about the property and the food. Food quality need to improve as well.

Beautiful property! It’s like paradise once you finally make the drive up the questionable road. Room was beautiful and clean but pack lotion because they don’t provide it in the bathroom. Also, make sure you pack everything you need including bug spray because they don’t have anything to purchase at the hotel. We didn’t have bug spray and couldn’t buy any from them and got eaten alive! There’s nothing around the hotel either so once you are on the property you are there to stay. My kids did a fantastic zip line excursion and my daughter and I an incredible horse back ride all available at the hotel for an extra reasonable cost. It was the perfect 2 night stay before we headed to the beach!

We stayed in the junior sweets in room 504 and saw monkeys outside our porch every morning at 6:30. It was surreal and a trip I’ll never forget!

We had a great time at Borinquen! The staff, especially the bartenders, were attentive and took care of us really well. The grounds are beautiful and the Superior Bungalow we stayed in was awesome. Now, once there you are about an hour away from anything. If I was to do this trip again, I would stay three nights and then move to a beach area. Other than that it was great.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. It’s a gorgeous property with wonderful people. Just a slight hiccup when checking in. Only one person working, others were in the area, but no one could help. Another check in person would help as the trip up to the hotel is long and bumpy. Luis was not friendly or helpful.

Everything was perfect and all employees were courteous except the ladies at reception that work in the morning I believe one of the girls name is Sofia and her attitude is so bad and doesn’t even greet customers acts as if she eats scorpions on a daily basis passing the poison to customers. I have stayed at borinquen 3 times and next time I go if they are still there at check in I will definitely bring it to their attention about their bad attitudes.

Pros: beautiful, liked the mud baths Cons: terrible food and terrible service in the restaurant. Expensive for what you get. They start using blowers in front of your door early in the morning. Woke up kids. Seemed unnecessary. Beautiful property but will not be back.

Above and beyond. The customer service you receive at the property is wonderful. Every single person working at the property, from the grounds keeper (Giovanni) to the waiter (Diego) to the driver (Emmanuel) have been a great addition to the staff. The breakfast is great, with choices for even the pickiest guest! We didnt have to wait for more than 3 minutes to be picked up to þake us to the different activities they have at the resort. My mom and I stayed at a villa which had two beds, a deck and a patio, pretty big bathroom, a/c, wardrobe, desk, sitting area, mini fridge, coffee maker and flat screen tv. Every was above and beyond what I expected. Grounds are beautiful, an assortment of species! The thermal pools are great.Huge swimming pool.

Our original hotel was canceled last minute. We are so glad. Borinquen saved the day. We got a flat tire upon arrival and a man at the resort fixed it for us. We loved the spa treatments and the ambiance of the thermal hot springs all around. Truly a magical place!

They tried to charge me $24 for 6 slices of bread for my two babies ages 1 and 2. A sandwich on their own menu costs less. Outrageous and rude. Staff unhelpful rude. Would never recommend, especially bad for families with small children. Under 5 is not even allowed on tours.

Getting to this resort is a haul, and what I mean by that is 15 minutes at 10kph along a rocky road. It also has several mountainous roads that need to be climbed to get there. Once you’ve finished the journey, you’re greeted by a unique, well cared for oasis. The property is very well manicured, the suites are well appointed and the staff is very friendly. Pictures of the resort are very helpful as they are current and accurate.

The resort is very nice for a relaxing trip. Food options are good and the best part is the thermal hot springs and pool facilities. Getting to the resort is bit of a drive from the airport and you should have a vehicle otherwise it is very remote.

The reaort was outstanding however be prepared for a bumpy ride in the car for the last 15 mimutes. Hopefully the road will get fixed when you go there. I cant wait to come back for more time to unwind cause thats what this place is all about

While the resort itself is quite lovely, you need to understand that it is not close to anything, with a challenging road to get there, and only one option for dinner. It is ideal if you are looking for a quiet retreat. The property is stunning - small chalet/villas dotting the hillside, overlooking the gardens, the canopy and the mountains. The villas are great - fresh and clean - with a balcony for you to sit on with your morning coffee. The pool is also great & well maintained. There is a wet bar poolside and a snack bar over the steps next to the thermal pools, mud bath. However, visitors - especially families- need to understand that the wet bar and snack bar closed at 4pm (not sure if this is because it's off season) and we could only eat dinner by reserving at the one restaurant, even though it said there were three restaurants. Food was good but once you finish dinner there is nothing more to really do, as the pools close at 8pm. This is all lovely if you are looking for peace and quiet but 3 days was too much for us. The grounds are perfect for bird and monkey watching! A huge WOW for the ziplining which my 15 absolutely loved! One last thing - if you are going to drive in, be warned that 15 km of uphill, unpaved road isn't for the faint of heart. Ensure you are driving a 4X4. After taking a road trip to the beaches, we couldn't imagine doing any more day trips. Overall, peace & beauty, but two days with a family, is enough.

You can have a shuttle pick you up and stay at the resort and do all the activities on the resort including the thermal pools etc.. instead. Book the activities in advance because they do book up by others from day pass users (people not staying on the resort). So, if you think the hotel has low occupancy the activities and thermal pools could still be full. Nice resort overall but they need to fix the road leading to it. It was the worst one we travelled on during the two weeks we drove over 800 kms. Further to this, don’t plan to stay here more than 3 days as it is out of the way from other points of interest.

Loved our stay at Borinquen! Included breakfast was excellent with great coffee. Staff were very attentive to any needs we had. Property is absolutely beautiful with lots to do and see. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her spa visit!

A beautiful location on the slopes of Rincon de la Vieja, Borinquen Thermal Resort is a treat in the heart of the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. From the finely appointed rooms to the spacious, lush grounds, to the superb restaurants, this resort stay was one-of-a-kind. Staff was friendly, helpful, and good at their jobs. We also chose to venture with a knowledgeable guide to two photogenic waterfalls through a dense forest populated by many bird species. The resort was absolutely gorgeous, and we would stay there again. The staff were friendly. Our only complaint was that the food wasn’t very good, and leaving the resort to eat is not the easiest given its location up in the mountains. I got a steak on our first night there that was not cheap and it was so hard and fatty I couldn’t eat it. I let them know, and there was no offer made of another protein, or even consideration to take it off the bill. Go here for the experience and the relaxation, because it is beautiful in so many ways. My wife and I aren’t big eaters so the food not being great wasn’t a deal breaker for us.

The hotel is very nice and staff is very friendly. The restaurant prices are quite high and size of portions are too small. Prices do not include taxes in any menu which is not very convenient. Even worse for foreigners.

Beautiful grounds and accommodations. You can walk to the pool or the thermal pools or ask for a ride. Food is inconsistent with breakfast good, lunch excellent and dinner a disappointment. You are at least an hour on a bumpy dirt road from anything so it is not like you can eat elsewhere. Service is great except for breakfast where they are understaffed. I wish they had a trail map with signs and enabled you to explore on your own. Instead they want you to sign up for guided excursion for $ which some might want but not all. We stayed for 2 nights which was perfect.

The perfect resort for a relaxing stay. Gorgeous views from anywhere on the property. We were able to see amazing wildlife from the pool with a drink in hand. Can it get any better? My only suggestion would be to offer more dining options. There was only one restaurant available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
