Had a great time. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Happy to go that extra mile. The only issue was parking. Only room for roughly about 10 cars, first come, first serve. Had to park up, on main road, down the hill. I would of prefered to park on sight.

Parking was horrendous but everything else was great. We arrived to glorious sounds of a choir practicing and enjoyed the support from all staff. Easy walking to the train station for a quick visit to Cardiff, suggested by staff. Easier than driving in.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and quiet hotel. Had all the basic things you need for a cheap and cheerful stay. parking is limited but there is room on side streets. Only net curtains in the room so it let a lot of light in at night. Otherwise a lovely stay.

The hotel itself was nice but The bathroom had mould on the ceiling which was a put of, the curtains are very thin which resulted the room being very light throughout the night, walls are very thin and you can hear other people. The carpark is absolutely terrible massive pot hole on the middle of the carpark it’s a dangerous car park.

Liked everything apart from the poor bed and poor pillow, to be honest there was only 1 pillow each and the bed was cheap and nasty. Also parking was an issue and it's NOT suitable for disabled people especially wheelchair users infact you won't be able to get a wheelchair to the door. Staff were awesome

Attended a function at the hotel and having gone to bed before it finished we were surprised to find it was quite quiet in our room. Car park is limited and spaces are tight so can be problematic if the hotel is busy

The hotel had a wedding or some party on until about 1am with full blast music, there was no fan or air con in 20+ degree heat and we didn’t sleep a wink.

Loved it. I was seeing a band in Cardiff and picked this hotel as it was close to the train station. Couldn’t have been happier with the service and the hotel. Not going to claim it’s 5 stars but it met all my needs and the late night bar was perfect for a refreshing drink after getting back from the gig.

Hotel has loads of potential. Bar area is really nice and so is the lobby. Room was really large and comfortable bed. What let it was the condition of the carpet on the stairs (really dirty) and the room carpet and bathroom floor was not very clean. The staff were really nice and friendly and very professional.

The Hotel was fine for 1 night, however the room was pretty rough around the edges. Carpet was stained, decor could do with an all round refresh. Corridors did have a bit of a damp smell to them. On a positive note the staff were very polite and accomodating and we managed to get a parking spot. However there is limited parking.

Really disappointed in stay, bedroom dirty the bathroom was filthy, most of everything in bedroom didnt work properly or was broken. The bar was meant to shut at 01.00hrs but bloke closed it at 00.00hrs as he couldnt be arsed to serve anyone anymore despite 7 people being in bar! If anyone stays be sure to take a screwdriver with you, your going to need one!

Foyer and bistro were lovely however it all goes downhill as soon as you walk up the stairs!! Was very ‘tired’ everywhere. The room was basic which was fine however cleanliness was disappointing especially where the hand basin wall was covered in toothpaste. Walls and skirtings were in a questionable state. Could do with a good tidy up and lick of paint. The mattress was soooo thin on hard wood and one paper thin pillow each although when requested, more were promptly supplied. £45 a night was a fair price for a ‘fair’ room!! Great little hotel in Barry, close walk to many local amenities. Staff at the hotel were absolutely lovely. Great hotel if on a budget. Only negative was beds were uncomfortable and curtains let in lots of light so difficult to sleep. Will be back, overall lovely hotel, thank-you for our stay

Staffing was adequate. However, several aspects of the stay were disappointing. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, with springs clearly felt through the surface, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. The curtains resembled stained white sheets, which gave the room a neglected appearance. The shower was poorly designed; any decent water pressure caused the showerhead to pop out of the holder, making it very impractical to use. The walls were not soundproof at all, and I was frequently woken up at night by other guests talking in nearby rooms. Additionally, there was no change of bed sheets or towels during the entire stay, which fell short of basic expectations for cleanliness and comfort.

We were given a family room when we asked for a twin overlooking the dirty back roofs. The sink had a crack in. The breakfast was toast, limited choice of cereals, tea or coffee for £4.50. The shower rail couldn't be slid down for a shorter person, that's me and I got soaked with cold water when I regulated the water which was from the bath taps. The window frames were rotted and the bistro veranda needed cleaning along with the windows and the tables had seen better days. The lounge and reception were very nice and welcoming as were the staff. Jacob told us that we had to move to another room when we requested an extra night but after packing up and presenting ourselves in the morning the lady receptionist said we could stay in our original room if we wanted to. We booked a sea view room which when we arrived we were told they didn't have any available and that we had to take the matter up with expedia not themselves.

Good value for money, great views from the upper floor on the front of the building. Near train station and moderate walk to town or island. Room very basic, single glazed window, very loud traffic noise "boy racers" all night. Wouldn't recommend staying while functions on, extremely loud music and room vibration until early hours.

After reading reviews of The Mount Rooms we were hesitant about our stay, but we needn't have been. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room had obviously recently been refurbished and was clean and comfortable (with fab views) and the hotel was quiet. It was quite basic (we were glad we took toiletries), but we had a lovely stay. Recommended for a nice place for a budget stay in Barry.

The property maybe a little tired but the service and price are amazing! We opted for the breakfast, which a lovely guy cooked..and could not do anymore for us. Didn't get his name but was outstanding...obviously a perfectionist, whilst running the reception too! When we checked in there was a really lovely lady who was incredibly helpful. Whilst in the bar was another lady who so so bubbly and like a whirlwind...such a personality. So handy to get into Cardiff. We were actually there for the Billy Joel concert and was so easy to get to the Principality Stadium. Would i stay there again? Absolutely...and i would recommend to my friends who are after a bed, bar and breakfast with a lovely team of staff.

The hotel needs some TLC. However it represents great value for money. The location area is very hilly and hotel has numerous stairs, which was difficult at times as I am asthmatic. Sean, the receptionist was extremely helpful and moved us to a room with easier access. The hotel provides a continental breakfast at a small cost. There is easy access to the train station.

We went back at 3 pm to book in and (male) receptionist wanted an apology, I refused causing another argument and they wouldn’t let us book in. Hotel called police saying I wouldn’t leave, but all I was saying was if you won’t book us in give me a refund and I’ll go somewhere else, but they wouldn’t and insulted me about my age ?. Welcoming and friendly staff, but did seen a little short staffed. Hotel does seem a little tired and would benefit with a facelift. We had a comfortable stay, and room was fine. There was a function, so perhaps more people than usual leaving cigarette end outside. Overall it was good accomadation.

Travelled down for “Glastonbarry “, Hotel was in an ideal location, close to railway station, town centre, Barry island and Romilly Park venue for Glastonbarry. Staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us, room was clean and tidy but tiny for 2 people, would probably be a okay for a single occupant. We were in room 2 ground floor. Only minor complaint apart from room size was noise from neighbours on our first night, it sounded like a young couple with 2 young kids, think they had been to Glastonbarry Juniors which takes place on the Friday before the adults event, I think they were in a competition for who could argue the loudest , mother or kids ,think mum took the trophy, think kids won the prize for 10,000 metres race up and down the corridor at 1:30 am, they’d probably been overdosing on performance enhancing slush. Anyway luckily they vacated on the Saturday and are all probably happily torturing someone else now. I didn’t think complaining at the time would help us get to sleep any sooner as ignorant people are usually best left to tire themselves out, Big thanks to Jacob and the team for your service.

Great little hotel in Barry, close walk to many local amenities. Staff at the hotel were absolutely lovely. Great hotel if on a budget. Only negative was beds were uncomfortable and curtains let in lots of light so difficult to sleep. Will be back, overall lovely hotel, thank-you for our stay

Great place to stay for a few days. I was looking for somewhere just outside of Cardiff for a few days for a break on my way down to London, turned out to be a very convenient stay and great value too. My room was nicely heated, comfortable bed, good water pressure and clean. The Hotel has a nice bar downstairs for a Friday night drink (very quiet too). Staff were quite friendly and there were a few good options for local cafes and restaurants. It's a good choice and good value. I only stayed two nights. Took a nice drive down to Penarth on morning for breakfast and a walk (10 min drive). Likewise it's not a long drive to Cardiff CBD. Good stay.

Good room with available services ie. Bar & all day food & coffee. Handy for the station & Wetherspoons, some people might find it a bit far from the front but you get a great view of the docks & sea & it's a nice walk to get there

1 night twin room. Information misleading on website as to availability of food and drink. 1 bed the mattress needed replacing as springs were poking through. HK did supply a spare duvet as base but my granddaughter didn’t have a comfortable sleep. Car parking limited and full of potholes! Would not stay again.

From the greeting to the departure it was fantastic. Hidden gem. The price you pay far exceeded my expectation. There were only 2 things that let this hotel down, the pillow(only get one) and no long mirror. Spotlessly clean, lovely large room with tea and coffee making facilities(any extra you pay 20p for) Breakfast was tasty and delivered to our room(£11 for 2 bacon and sausage rolls with tea) piping hot. If we stayed in Barry again we would not hesitate to stay here again. The staff were outstanding, incredibly welcoming, friendly and couldnt do enough for you. If you are looking for a cheap, clean and comfortable stay look no further.

Myself and my wife stayed the night, the woman behind reception works very hard, all the staff are friendly, polite and helpful. I had a nice Chicken Tikka Masala with Rice and 2 Naan Breads at the hotel for £9. For a restaurant the drinks were reasonably priced at £4 a pint of Aspall Cider. The room was very tidy and clean, coffee and tea in the room, the shower was nice and warm and bathroom clean. Check in and check out was very quick and the receptionist told us where we could find everything in the Hotel. Reception is 24 hours too. Mattress was quite soft whereas I am used to a firm orthopaedic mattress, that is my problem though, not the hotel

For the cost of a few nights stay it was a good price ,a very small niggle was the lack of a shelf in the bath room for placing toiletries etc. It would have been helpful to have a full English breakfast and other dinning options at mid day and evening with out the need to look around the area.,Having said that there are plenty of choices not too far away.Over all happy with the stay.

The property maybe a little tired but the service and price are amazing! We opted for the breakfast, which a lovely guy cooked..and could not do anymore for us. Didn't get his name but was outstanding...obviously a perfectionist, whilst running the reception too! When we checked in there was a really lovely lady who was incredibly helpful. Whilst in the bar was another lady who so so bubbly and like a whirlwind...such a personality. So handy to get into Cardiff. We were actually there for the Billy Joel concert and was so easy to get to the Principality Stadium. Would i stay there again? Absolutely...and i would recommend to my friends who are after a bed, bar and breakfast with a lovely team of staff.

The hotel needs some TLC. However it represents great value for money. The location area is very hilly and hotel has numerous stairs, which was difficult at times as I am asthmatic. Sean, the receptionist was extremely helpful and moved us to a room with easier access. The hotel provides a continental breakfast at a small cost. There is easy access to the train station.

The property is in need of updating and some tlc . It was fine for a night but I wouldn't have wanted longer. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The location is great for the train. Parking is limited but we parked on the street without too much difficulty. Breakfast is cheap , the quality is not great. The room had a lovely seaview but the bedside shelves were loose , the shower rail was loose , the shower was difficult to alter temperature and very slow to drain.

Billigt boende får man inte ha för höga krav. Rummet var bra men duschen hade bara 60 gradig är vatten och de hann inte fixa under våra två nätter. Nära till strand, shopping och restaurang.

Totally disappointed with how dated the room was. Definitely charging more than they should. The top bunk bed in the family room isn’t safe as the mattress is too tall and there’s risk of kids falling out. There were slugs in the bathroom which my husband had to pick out and the walls and floor were so grubby. We found a toenail on the floor too. The pillows and the bed are very uncomfortable and we didn’t get a good nights sleep the entire three nights we were there. We wish we’d stayed in the premier inn. Paid almost £300 for 3 nights and I have no idea what we paid for as no one came to turn down our bedroom, and we had to seek out hand soap as none was left in the bathroom for us to use. The staff were very lovely and helpful. Won’t be back.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, any issues were resolved quickly. The room was clean and more than adequate for my stay although it was a little tired around the edges, blind was fraying and the paint could do with a little refresh. I didn’t use any of the other facilities, however the bar area looked clean and spacious and clear signage around the hotel to help you navigate.
