Moxy Southampton

Check-in was chaotic. Not very organized. You check in at the end of the bar. Room was adequate for the one night stay before cruise. It was clean. Maybe recommend places to eat in the area for us weary travelers instead of “there are plenty of places that way” pointing. I would stay here again. I did not feel unsafe. Just rushed to leave the front area. Hopefully, this will be rectified after the updates/construction.

No parking as builders have taken over the small parking area behind the hotel. Parked in multi storey which worked out £15 a night. Reception wasn’t the best. Wanted to check ID which I’ve never had before. Lots of building work on exterior of building causing lots of noise.

The hotel is under renovation so that affected our stay. There were work crews everywhere, and scaffolding all over the place.

Nice hotel with good AC conveniently located around a lot of shops and breakfast places. The parking lot was closed for construction, so we had to pay for parking but rates were reasonable. There was an under-bed motion activated light that drove us crazy at night so if that could be turned off, it would be amazing!

Absolute nightmare to find the hotel, with all the construction going on. No idea where the lobby was to check in. Check-in was in the bar/restaurant area. Ridiculous parking accommodations, which were non-existent. Had to pay to park in a lot adjacent to the hotel.

To unload the car if cases was awkward as it is on a double yellow line. Reception is in the bar. Location is good. Bedroom has everything you need. One night was perfect.

When walking into the hotel, I used the rubbish bin outside, and as I turned around, hit my head on the low placed pedestrian sign on the hotels scaffolding and cut my forehead which caused it to bleed.

There was a very nice game room on the facility along with a bar and some food service.

Funky hotel very close to West Quay and the extension (restaurants & pubs) Limited on site parking, but plenty in the multi-story behind at £5 a day Part of Marriott group Food offering was limited, although continental style breakfast was fresh, the more traditional breakfast items were also economy in nature. Room was comfy with good air conditioning (mine had view of car park) Bathroom was quite small TV channels poor selection and most didn't work, not sure why they can't just provide Freeview

We stayed at this hotel for one night before our cruise. The hotel is very sleek and modern, but we almost walked by it as it is completely surrounded by scaffolding at the time. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room was nice and clean. Bathroom was very small. Grouting in shower could use some freshening up. It was very hot and there was an issue with the thermostat so the temperature remained uncomfortably high throughout. The location is very convenient: walking distance from train station, to cruise port (Horizon terminal) and very close to the Old Town and the main shopping mall. We would stay again.

Door/floor loose and I tripped over. Dirty shower no toilet paper.

Currently under cladding removal this Moxy has been my go to in Southampton for several years. Friendly reception at arrival, rooms as always up to Moxy standards. Bar food in the evening hot, delicious and served on time. Second day housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:15am which I thought was a tad early and told her I was sleeping still. After retuning at 5:30pm the same evening I thought the room would have been made up… it wasn’t. Also my sister across the hall didn’t have her room made either. I asked the front desk to help but all I got was two clean towels handed to me as housekeeping had left for the day. Not great customer service, no compensation points offered and no apology. Overall sla 3 star stay.

Everything was clean however a strange odor in restroom.

Overall it was good with a trendy vibe and friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent. The only thing to let it down was that the carpet in the room was old and stained and needed a deep clean. The mattress protector was noisy and uncomfortable, on trying to remove it we found it to be unacceptably gross.

The hotel is amazing, staff are lovely only thing is our room wasn’t cleaned very well didn’t notice until the last day, under the curtains there was 2 mouldy grapes and a pair of sunglasses that weren’t ours

Stayed here on many occasions due to the great location for my needs, the staff are always friendly and efficient. The rooms are always clean and quiet, the only one point I can make is I feel the bathrooms shower and sink drainage needs deep cleaning more often as it does create a faint smell now and then. Overall, a great hotel and lovely breakfast choices.

Efficient check in, helpful staff. Nice bright room, but no closet. Small bathroom, clean but there’s a smell from the sink drain. There is a stopper to prevent the smell from coming out, but you have to open it to let the water drain.

As always, a good stay at The Moxy. Good location next to Westquay shopping mall. Service is perfect. Room is clean. The only reason I gave a mark down on condition was - the room smelt a bit … I think it was to do with the toilet.

Room very comfortable and clean - stayed two nights and no hoovering from housekeeping after 1st night despite crumbs being spilt on the bedroom floor. "Check In" desk sign needs to be placed on the front of the counter rather than a small sign at the end of the bar area. Lifts sometimes congested with workers, rubbish and trolleys. Checkin and bar staff very friendly, but seating area very cold.

The room was small. There was a small desk in the room; no wardrobe in the room. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The biggest problem was probably the lack of air conditioning in the room. Maybe we were not familiar with European/UK hotel room amenities, we were expecting to control the temperature in the room. We tried to decrease the temperature in the room but the control unit on the wall did not work. We asked the front desk staff for help. He was very helpful and told us to open the window. I was surprised to see that there was no air conditioning in the room contrary to what the website indicated.

The bed was comfortable and tv good but unfortunately when we woke up in the morning there was no hot water so a shower was impossible. When we checked out they were generous in giving us a credit.

Our room was terrible. It was a handicap room and very uncomfortable for us. There was no closet and no room to set anything on the bathroom counter. I really disliked it. The fixtures were all wheel chair height.

Nice room, but small. No space to set up a laptop. Travellers from the US will need a UK conversion plug. Two different modes for lighting the room, one of them was quite interesting.

The room is very basic. A bed, tv and bathroom. No furniture except for 1 chair, and a glass table that is attached to the wall. It is maybe 8 inches wide. No phone, no closet, no dressers, no hooks. Very small, but clean. Staff were very nice.

This Hotel is good for a short stay, because we didn't have a fridge, wardrobe or an iron in the room. Did have a kettle and hair dryer! A small room and bathroom, clean, enough for us for the 1 night we stayed. The complimentary drink was a nice touch!

The rooms had no room for any luggage no drawers no closets not even cloths hanging bar, no amenities such as iron, fridge etc. For those that are about to embark on a cruise you shall feel pampered after a stay at this hotel

The outside temperature was 32F and the room was 75F. Too hot and no way to cool it off. Turned the thermostat down and the temp went up and stayed up. Too hot!!!!!

All prefect except Water pressure is not very strong for shower

Smallest hotel room I have ever been in. Luggage for cruise made it VERY crowded. After boarding the cruise ship -not known for roominess- was noticeable that the Moxy hotel room was much smaller than our cruise cabin.

After we disembarked from a cruise, Moxy let us enter our room early.

I booked this hotel thru Expedia , I paid straight away thru Expedia with my debit card. At the arrival I was being asked to pay again which it was suspicious, I refused and showed the money already paid on Expedia. The girl that was at the reception insisted on the payment otherwise I wouldn’t access to my room. I told her again I already paid and showed her the Expedia payment . She told me it wasn’t a payment but just that they were holding my money. I paid again at the hotel and got into my room. I went to check my bank statement and I was charged twice. Immediatly went to the front desk and explained the situation to the manager who reassured me that this mistake would have been sorted by 3 am. I called again the following morning at 9 am as I still could see both payments from Expedia and the hotel charged on my debit card and then the manager told me that the refund would have happened in 24 hours. I didn’t get any refund from the hotel. Still charged twice. Expedia customer servince is now in the middle of the dispute. Please BE CAREFUL WITH THIS HOTEL

Check in to the hotel was ok but was surprised I was checking in at the bar. Didn't expect the room to have no closet, no desk. We were there just for the night before embarking on a cruise so that was ok. In the evening we went to the dining room/bar to find the only food available was, what I regard as, bar food. As I wasn’t familiar with the area for other dining options we decide to eat here and I went up to the bar to order food for 4 people. The bartender, who wasn’t all that busy, took his time before coming up and taking my order. I had already started giving my order then in mid sentence he instantly turns around and proceeded to mix some drink for someone. I tried to get his attention and was ignored. There was another guy standing nearby doing nothing and when I finally got his attention and he pointed to the first guy so no help there. I think if I knew of another place nearby I would have thrown the menu down and leave so I had to stick it out. Eventually he finished making the drink and came back and took my order (and avoiding eye contact of any kind). Kitchen was busy and it took a while for food to show but it was otherwise good. Later decided to order a draught beer. The guy that was doing nothing earlier just stares at me immobile and with a bovine look. I repeated my order and he eventually poured the beer for me. Immature staff needs an adult in charge. If it weren’t for my unpleasant dinner experience I would have been given 4 stars.

Staff always welcoming and helpful.

The staff were incredibly knowledgeable with regard to cruise ship procedures and processes. They were able to answer questions and put my mind at ease. Huge respect for employees who backed each other up with some rowdy guests. 24 hour bar for guests!

We have stayed at this hotel in the past, so we knew what to expect. However this visit we were disappointed at check-in. The girl who did our check-in seemed distracted and when we requested a taxi for the next day to take us to the port for our cruise, she added our name to the list and said she would order us the taxi. The next day as we waited and waited for our taxi we learned that the taxi was never requested - very disappointing.

I stayed here the nite before and after a cruise from the Southhampton port. I arrived way before check in times - and on both occasions the front desk person got me into my room. I have to say , the front desk people are absolutely wonderful. Helped me with a Uk phone charger, taxi, food, directions. The property is very clean and in a great location!!

The hotel is very close to the shopping mall. Travelers can book a taxi in the reception to the cruise terminal. It costs about 15 pounds per trip.

Excellent location. Walking distance to bus, shopping, restaurants and waterfront. Hotel is clean and comfortable and staff are very helpful. Just a short taxi ride to the cruise terminal so perfect option if taking a cruise.

Stay is close to departing cruise ships. Very close to a shopping mall and to neighborhood pubs and restaurants.

Great place to stay. Walking distance from Coach station and from city center.

Great place to stay between cruises. Very clean, friendly staff, great restaurant. Just a short walk to the West Query shopping Center. Only a short taxi from and to the Mayfair Cruise port. Less than 10£ each way. I’ll definitely visit here again.

Stayed here pre and post cruise, location is excellent a 10min walk to port. Bus stop a 5min walk and town center 5 min walk. Would def stay here again

Good location and a perfect hotel for a short stay....

This is a nice hotel in a good location. I will continue to stay here but will not have breakfast. Despite being told it will be addressed, the plates for breakfast are only large enough for one piece of toast, and the food is very bland, really!

Unfortunately the cooking system was down in the hotel at night but we went out and found a good restaurant. The breakfast system in the hotel was fixed and we both enjoyed what was on offer. A good selection

excellent breakfast, great staff. close to all we wanted. disappointed that our room had issues with smells. appeared that the toilet waste water from our room and nextdoor were connected and after flushing the sink made a loud gurgling. smell next day was not good, although it did go away after an hour or so. our stay was only two nights. reception was very helpful. breakfast was the best i have had in any hotel. There was some renovation going on on the roof ( above our heads, but they started around 9 and stopped at 5 so not a problem. some great design work on the ground floor area.

Staying pre- cruise- The Macy already had signage at reception with all the ships leaving port the next day - with their terminal listed. It also said if you wanted to arrange a taxi to the port terminal that they would arrange it. We took advantage of that. Breakfast buffet was 12 pounds per person, I thought was reasonable. There is a huge shopping mall, West Quay, next door. All the usual mall shops and eateries. Would stay again!

Great place to stay for an overnight stop. Staf are great. The bar is a good place to get a light meal

Moxy has a hip vibe and attentive service. The rooms are efficient but comfortable. It’s walking distance to the main historic sites, shopping, restaurants, and bars, and even the cruise terminals aren’t that far away. The breakfast buffet had a wide and tasty selection but the layout was a bit scattered. It got congested around the coffee machine.
