The single room was comfortable, clean and pleasant. It had tea making facilities, a hair drier and iron. The en suite was of a good size and private. The only draw back was the shower - it had little water pressure and the shower hose was a poor fit. I had a key to a separate entrance which gave me freedom to avoid the bar and flexibility to come and go.

Very close to all tourist Attractions parking just behind hotel but very expensive during the day. Free overnight from midnight until 8am. The bar has loud music at weekends which you will hear in your room so go to bed late or join in the fun at the bar.

Lovely welcoming pub with excellent rooms. Even though you are above a pub and on the high street, it was silent at night. Pay and display carpark to the rear, shops and other pubs and restaurants next door. 1 min walk into the centre of York. I would stay again.

This property is very reasonably priced and is an excellent location. The staff is helpful and friendly.On the downside there are steep stairs up to the rooms and no lift. Window wouldnt stay open , it was very stuffy so we had to fashion our own prop stick to get air. No ceiling fan as advertised.Bathroom was clean but walls in the bedroom area were filthy. Friday night was a floor shaking 70"s tribute band until 11:30-12:00 which was fine but Saturday night was a poor ,loud band until midnight (like terrible karioke. ) Not sure I'd recommend this place without mentioning those things. Was surprised to see others giving a 10.

The room was fine, but the live music was so loud that the floors were vibrating beneath my feet when two floors up. Thankfully it stopped by midnight, but it was still disruptive. It also would’ve been nice if they could hold luggage for a bit after checkout instead of having to pay extra to store it somewhere down the street.

The room was clean. The reason I rated it average is because of the service. It was basically non-existent. We had to find someone at the bar to check us in. This person offered no welcome or friendly advice with parking or assistance in getting our luggage up the flights of stairs. No lifts. Check out was the same experience. No hospitality, not asked how our stay was or thank you for choosing them.

You can certainly hear the bar below if on the first floor. The Kararoke was fine the first night but the band was better the second. Watch the cab drivers first one took me on a 20£ taxi ride from the train station. Other cabs to and from were less then 10£

The housekeeping was none existent, spider webs in the room very narrow stairs to rooms with a maze of doors. Very noisey hearing people leaving as well as noise form the pub and band.

Nice comfortable, located in the heart of York. Easy access to a nearby convenience store and city attractions. The room was very clean. I loved the oat biscuits, tea and water provided for hotel guests.

The room was quite dirty, bread crumbs and other dirt were still visible on the floor, including what I think was a cut nail. Lipsticks marks on the glasses in the toilet and spoons and cups were stained. Water was still in the kettle. Also, the toilet only has a bath, there is no showerhead attached to it - which probably is shown in the picture, so my bad that I didn't check properly. And I won't be taking a bath in a hotel room that hasn't been cleaned properly. The only good thing about this place is the location. I don't think I will be back.

Good location close to the Minster. Room was on the main road side of the building, but we'll sound proofed. Some noise from the bar, but this is expected in a pub. Problem with loss of hot water pressure on the final morning was irritating, but these things happen. Clean and comfortable. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on the food.

I loved how easy it was to find and close to where I had my meetings. Also the staff was super nice and the room, for a night’s stay was decent and well kept.

The room was tired, dirty and didn’t have a working shower. The hotel manager NEVER responded to any of our messages or emails. Non existent customer service. The bar staff was extremely defensive when I complained about a non working shower. I would not recommend this establishment.

Great and friendly service. I was able to check in early. Room was small but clean and well appointed. It is an old building so access is narrow and a bit tricky but was fine for me. Overall was fine for me for one night.

Really close to Bootham Bar and everything that is inside the walls. Very warm welcome from friendly and helpful staff and even though my room was over the main road, noise didn't bother me. The room "York Theatre" was very well appointed with everything you'd need. Good size with a large en-suite and a lovely comfy bed. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

This is a property with a few rooms above a busy tavern. Our room was equipped with a tub but no shower. The facilities were definitely not luxury by any means, but the location was a excellent and the staff warm and friendly.

I stayed here for two nights on the wsy back from Scotland to London. I always love York. The room above the pub was comfortable and had all that was needed for the two nights. The check in was quick and was shown to my room. There is no view from the room which didnt bother me as only needed the bed. The shower was good and refreshing. The normal tea and coffee was supplied. It was surprisingly quiet given that it was above a pub.

The pub had nosey live music both Friday and Saturday night so I booked out Saturday morning but Expedia would only refund me one nights accomodation instead of 2. The main road also had noisey traffic all night without double glazed windows over the front.

Great B&B. Cosy room, excellent breakfast and welcoming pub downstairs. Would stay again but I’d book independently as YOU, HOTELS.COM did not pass on my payment to the Bootham and YOU told the Bootham I was 2 persons and needed to be charged double for breakfasts! I had to prove I’d paid for my stay when I arrived which made me feel very uncomfortable and I hold YOU, HOTELS.COM entirely responsible and in no way am I annoyed with the Bootham B&B. They were brilliant at resolving the mix up which was 100% caused by YOU, HOTELS.COM. It’s put me off booking with YOU ever again.

The property was excellently situated just around the corner from the Minster. The rooms are well presented with everything you need and staff are very helpful. The pub down stairs is well stocked and a nice environment to be in. Jane was amazing and very generous on our arrival to take our bags in early so we could make the most of our time in York. The breakfast offer is great and the food was lovely, well cooked and great products. The cost of the breakfast offer was well priced and so worth the money spent. I would highly recommend this place for your visit and would happily pay to stay here again.

The room was clean. The reason I rated it average is because of the service. It was basically non-existent. We had to find someone at the bar to check us in. This person offered no welcome or friendly advice with parking or assistance in getting our luggage up the flights of stairs. No lifts. Check out was the same experience. No hospitality, not asked how our stay was or thank you for choosing them.

The room was tired, dirty and didn’t have a working shower. The hotel manager NEVER responded to any of our messages or emails. Non existent customer service. The bar staff was extremely defensive when I complained about a non working shower. I would not recommend this establishment.

Very bad experience, when I checked in I was told their breakfast would start at 9. I said I would be leaving by 8:30 and I was told I could take my breakfast away at 8. Very disappointed I didn't get anything and the staff said there was none.

Very close to all tourist Attractions parking just behind hotel but very expensive during the day. Free overnight from midnight until 8am. The bar has loud music at weekends which you will hear in your room so go to bed late or join in the fun at the bar.

Lovely welcoming pub with excellent rooms. Even though you are above a pub and on the high street, it was silent at night. Pay and display carpark to the rear, shops and other pubs and restaurants next door. 1 min walk into the centre of York. I would stay again.

A perfect location for the event I attended in York with great access to the Minister, Contemporary Art Gallery, De Grey Rooms, Bars and Restuarants. Didn't spend much time in the hotel, unfortunately (not even for breakfast). There was too much to do in the city!

Good location close to the Minster. Room was on the main road side of the building, but we'll sound proofed. Some noise from the bar, but this is expected in a pub. Problem with loss of hot water pressure on the final morning was irritating, but these things happen. Clean and comfortable. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on the food.

The property was excellently situated just around the corner from the Minster. The rooms are well presented with everything you need and staff are very helpful. The pub down stairs is well stocked and a nice environment to be in. Jane was amazing and very generous on our arrival to take our bags in early so we could make the most of our time in York. The breakfast offer is great and the food was lovely, well cooked and great products. The cost of the breakfast offer was well priced and so worth the money spent. I would highly recommend this place for your visit and would happily pay to stay here again.

Great B&B. Cosy room, excellent breakfast and welcoming pub downstairs. Would stay again but I’d book independently as YOU, HOTELS.COM did not pass on my payment to the Bootham and YOU told the Bootham I was 2 persons and needed to be charged double for breakfasts! I had to prove I’d paid for my stay when I arrived which made me feel very uncomfortable and I hold YOU, HOTELS.COM entirely responsible and in no way am I annoyed with the Bootham B&B. They were brilliant at resolving the mix up which was 100% caused by YOU, HOTELS.COM. It’s put me off booking with YOU ever again.

A lovely tavern with good music and a cheerful atmosphere. The room was a good size and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and the breakfast delicious. We've been to York a few times to stay over and this is now our favorite. Will definitely be back!

the bootham is very well placed for walking to all the attractions in York. our room was called York Castle and was perfectly adequate for what we needed. you could have a breakfast there but we ate out. the pub was fantastic with really nice and friendly staff.
