Comfortable stay. Nice atmosphere. Good meal. Kept us a table even though we were an hour late stuck in traffic on motorway. Added bonus of a band on Friday night who were excellent. Nice warm comfortable room. Breakfast very good. We have stayed many times at The Bell and will be back when visiting Cheltenham races in the future

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the car parking good. The room and bathroom were clean but could do with some updating, the television did not work properly there was a lose fitting on the aerial lead. The breakfast was very good but was let down by the coffee which was not very hot.

We were in the "old" part of the hotel and absolutely loved the quaintness & "creaky floorboards" of this place, but some may not - not sure if the annexe has these, maybe not. The room was pleasant, clean & the beds were very comfortable. We would have liked a couple more electrical sockets. The receptionists, waitress who served us breakfast were all lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I have experienced for years in the UK and exceptional value for money. You could have anything from the continental section (if booked full price - loads of fresh fruits, pastries, cereals, yoghurts - individual, large expensive ones) etc plus your choice from the extensive cooked options. These were cooked to order and were superb. If you struggle with stairs and narrow corridors with lots of fire doors ask for a ground floor room in the annexe when you book. Would love to stay there again if ever in the area.

Being an old building there is no lift and the stairs go round, rather than straight up. Which was a problem for us has we’re not young anymore. So ask for a ground floor room. The staff were nice and moved us to one. So accommodating. Breakfast in the week and Saturday was great but come Sunday they had run out of oat milk( but had soya) only one pot of yogurt which was shared out. And not much in the way of fresh fruit. The cleanliness’s of the room and main building was good considering the age of the place. Would we stay there again? Maybe

Although the staff were very friendly, professional and helpful, the building itself was rather tired with the outside areas unkempt and run down. Also having to register for a parking permit was a major inconvenience after having a long journey. The premises needs improvements to bring it up to standard.

If it wasn't for the free parking and arriving by car, I would have looked elsewhere. The property is dated, old looking furniture and facilities, clean, but not somewhere you would stay longer than possible a couple of nights. The room and on-suit are good size, the double bed was comfortable, the heating was good, no need for extra blankets. We didn't eat or drink in the pub, it wasn't busy, given breakfast is not included but is available, people probably go to local Spoons. Would I stay there again, yes, if I again need overnight accommodation.

Bar area occupied but even as residents we were refused access to the table in the restaurant table area that was not being used for dining (at the back). Had to hunt someone down to check us and another party in. Ran out of white wine at the bar. Room in need of renovation. Very basic and grubby carpet. Bed a very small double with a very poor mattress. Radiators came on and couldn’t be turned off. Grubby shower. Seems only 3 staff running the whole place and so the service was generally poor. Took 20 mins to get some milk for our room. Food (dinner) to be fair was good and cooked well. Bar area was nice except for loud music bands playing on the TV that nobody was interested in. Managed fortunately ti find the last available parking place, as the car park is open to the general public.

firstly rooms were unclean and not up to standard .... we moved rooms 3 times first room filthy not been hoovered the bathroom was very dated with lots of mold in the shower ... 2nd room the bathroom was dated and cold ..and the lock was broken on the door ..3rd room was ok but bathroom tiny very dated couldn't regulate the radiator so boiling hot or cold .the tap water was dangerous boiling water no regulator valves on the taps.The electrics were not up to regulation with the fan mot working in bathroom and no isolator fitted. Bar staff and cleaning staff polite and friendly, not so the reception staff, did not acknowledge me when returning door key.

A really lovely hotel with helpful staff and superb service, we were really well looked after. The rooms are clean and comfortable, great parking, great location in town. Lovely view of the Abbey. Magnificent breakfast!

Overnight stay on the way to Devon for a wedding. Warm welcome by the reception staff. Nice touch getting a phone call prior to our visit to see if we wanted to book a dinner reservation which we did. The food was really good. The hotel room was immaculate and a really good size. Close to all amenities. We would definitely stay again

Room was basic,thought we were staying in the main part of hotel but it was annexe at the side,we were on ground floor and it sounded like a herd of elephants in room above,no noise reduction at all,so annoying,l dont think we will stay here again,there are so many better olde world hotels in Tewkesbury.

Great position right opposite Tewkesbury Abbey and plentiful free parking for guests. received a really warm welcome. The room was a typical greene King Hotel room, fairly basic but clean and comfortable, but very good value. We both slept well. We have since booked to stay again with friends.

Very nice young chap on the reception. My room was above the kitchen extract and was woken at 0615 with the sound of a jet engine in my room. Was moved to another room with the actual extract pipe by my window. Was told other guests didn’t mind!!

The Bell is a great place to stay in Tewkesbury, directly across from the Abbey. A good size car park, free for residents. Our room was in the main building and was comfortable but slightly dated. Noise from the next door rooms was also noticeable. The staff were excellent, explaining at check in all the options for dining especially as they were very busy with Christmas parties.

This is a beautiful old pub in a fantastic location, opposite the Abbey, close to the river and a very short walk from shops, restaurants, pubs and museums in the historic town of Tewkesbury. The staff are all amazing, freindly, helpful and work really hard but at busy times it sometimes seems there are not enough of them.

Not very welcoming at check in. Nobody at reception on check out. The staff were not very friendly at all Breakfast was a bit of a nightmare with fairly restrictive finishing time. By 9am pastries etc had finished and staff were eager to clear the tables so all very rushed. We also had to endure a man drilling whilst eating! Couldn’t read some of the breakfast menu due to it being in black on a dark blue background! Room was adequate
Not very welcoming at check in. Nobody at reception on check out. The staff were not very friendly at all Breakfast was a bit of a nightmare with fairly restrictive finishing time. By 9am pastries etc had finished and staff were eager to clear the tables so all very rushed. We also had to endure a man drilling whilst eating! Couldn’t read some of the breakfast menu due to it being in black on a dark blue background! Room was adequate

What a wonderful and charming hotel! A perfect location and we had a great view of the Abbey from our room (room 2). There is noise from traffic outside as the hotel is on a main road but this is reflected in the excellent price and didn’t bother us at all. Parking is free which is a great perk when visiting a city and the staff are so courteous and efficient. The breakfast is super tasty and made from local produce. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back. Thanks to all for making our anniversary stay so special.

The Bell is a great place to stay in Tewkesbury, directly across from the Abbey. A good size car park, free for residents. Our room was in the main building and was comfortable but slightly dated. Noise from the next door rooms was also noticeable. The staff were excellent, explaining at check in all the options for dining especially as they were very busy with Christmas parties.

I stayed at The Bell in Tewkesbury for a couple of nights with my Sister. Check in was easy, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely presented and clean as was the rest of the bar and dining area. Breakfast was included and had a choice of cereal / yogurt / fruit / pastry’s plus a choice of cooked breakfast which was all very nice. Location was excellent for the Abbey, museums, shops, trails and walks with plenty of bars and places to eat. Plenty of things to do for a weekend in this very pretty, historic town. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Comfortable stay. Nice atmosphere. Good meal. Kept us a table even though we were an hour late stuck in traffic on motorway. Added bonus of a band on Friday night who were excellent. Nice warm comfortable room. Breakfast very good. We have stayed many times at The Bell and will be back when visiting Cheltenham races in the future

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the car parking good. The room and bathroom were clean but could do with some updating, the television did not work properly there was a lose fitting on the aerial lead. The breakfast was very good but was let down by the coffee which was not very hot.

Parking was easy, the rooms need a good refurbishment, a paint job would be a start, the staff were excellent, our food was of good quality but could have been hotter,Tewkesbury is a beautiful village and we plan to visit again but probably stay at a different hotel.

Efficient check in. Room was clean. They were the only two good points. Bed/pillows were rock hard both hardly slept. Could hear everyone in the corridor and next door clear as anything. Stay away from the restaurant for a meal. Complete and utter disaster. Every member of staff told you something different and contradictory the person before. Busy with Christmas party’s (understandable at this time of year) and our food order had been rushed in the kitchen. I had a steak, certainly not cooked to order and my partner had a chicken curry where it had been burnt on the outside and not cooked in the middle. Manager came over and would not accept our problem and spoke to us like children (we are in our early 50s) her attitude and manner was not professional at all but that’s what you get when you have young 20 somethings in charge. Come the next day my partner unfortunately could not be far from a bathroom. So, again only eat in the restaurant if you have a really good cast iron stomach and god forbid if you have words with a certain on duty manager.

We were in the "old" part of the hotel and absolutely loved the quaintness & "creaky floorboards" of this place, but some may not - not sure if the annexe has these, maybe not. The room was pleasant, clean & the beds were very comfortable. We would have liked a couple more electrical sockets. The receptionists, waitress who served us breakfast were all lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I have experienced for years in the UK and exceptional value for money. You could have anything from the continental section (if booked full price - loads of fresh fruits, pastries, cereals, yoghurts - individual, large expensive ones) etc plus your choice from the extensive cooked options. These were cooked to order and were superb. If you struggle with stairs and narrow corridors with lots of fire doors ask for a ground floor room in the annexe when you book. Would love to stay there again if ever in the area.

Great check in. Nice size twin room. Beds comfy. Room a little bit to warm. Only down point TV had no signal. Good selection of beer's, lovely staff very helpful. Restaurant food excellent plus nice size portion. Would definitely recommend.

We paid for a basic twin onsuite room and were pleased with the clean and spacious rooms, although, if you are not tall I advise bringing your own coat hangers as the hanging facilities in the room use the type of hangers that cannot be removed from the rail, which is tricky if you have long coats or garments to drape over hangers you can barely reach. The staff were very helpful and free parking is in the walled carpark. You can park first and then go to reception to obtain a permit to put in your car window. The breakfast options were amazing for the price, all the usual help yourself choices while you seat yourself and then choices from avocado toast, to full English, to full vegetarian and vegan options too. The site is also very handy for visiting the Abbey (opposite) and nearby museums and shops, and it's only half a mile to the Roses Theatre. I would definitely come again.
