This is a really nice hotel with restaurant, coffee shop, bar and beautiful courtyard area. We were a group of 6 friends visiting another friend in Oundle so between us we had 3 rooms. We were in the building across the courtyard from the main body of the hotel. The rooms were lovely but quite compact which was fine. Our only criticism was that owing to it being very warm weather on Friday, the rooms were unbearably hot despite having fans in them. The windows only open a crack so we just couldnt get the rooms to cool down which made sleeping very difficult. Saturday was a cooler day but the room was still roasting on Saturday night. It is a very old building so we understand a cooling system would be difficult. Aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Talbot and all of the staff are lovely

The parking area was safe and conveniently located to the hotel - no long walks required The hotel was beautiful and had lovely landscaped gardens which were well maintained. Staff were very opleasant and helpful and everywhere was clean It is a historic building with a wow factor but is up to date inside. We had a standard room which was lovely Dinner was great with plenty of choices and we will definitely stay again pamela

A wonderful, peaceful stay at the Talbot Hotel. Convenient parking, decent coffee maker and everything one needs in a hotel room ie iron, hairdryer, quality toiletries. Great food and relaxed dining options and environment with the added bonus of being truly dog friendly. Staff in the restaurant were engaging with great customer service. A special shout out to Vanessa and Neil and all the staff in the restaurant. Thank you for a relaxing stay.

The Talbot Hotel is a beautifully restored coaching inn that is so welcoming, has a great restaurant in the best setting. For us, it was as if we discovered an oasis on out travels. I will now be looking for the other inns that this group has renovated.

A really lovely Hotel with very nice gardens in a lovely setting. We had an exec room which was great, had everything you could wish for and the bed was very comfortable. Only one small criticism that a mistake was made at breakfast and we waited over 45 minutes because the order was missed, but it can happen and it certainly didn't spoil our stay. We would return and I would reccomend the hotel and Oundle.

Lovely historic hotel right in the heart of Oundle town. Friendly staff, comfortable room (although no aircon due to the age and architecture I would assume). Good breakfast and nice outdoor areas to have a drink.

We used the Hotel as a base for visiting Burghley Horse Trials and it was just ideal. Room was spotless and comfortable. Staff extremely friendly. It was the perfect setting to wind down after a long day with a lovely cup of coffee. The staff kindly started the fabulous breakfast earlier than usual to allow everyone to get on the road. Car Park is quite limited on spaces but able to park on lane which always had spaces.

This hotel was such a great find! Every staff member we spoke to was friendly and so helpful. The food was delicious and well priced. Room was clean and a lovely size.

Room clean and tidy, looks like a new bathroom was installed and was in excellent shape. Roll top bath, powerful shower and bed was pretty comfortable. Would definitely recommend. Didn’t stay for breakfast but used Beans a local cafe which I have been too several times.

Bathroom could do with modernising and the cooked breakfast was not to my liking. Expected better quality for the price paid. However, cleanliness and staff service were excellent. Our room was also topped up with water, biscuits and coffee, as we stayed 2 nights. So not all bad.

The food and service were excellent. Staff were particularly helpful, pleasant and professional. We were allocated an accessible room even though I hadn’t booked one. The large shower room was sadly lacking hooks/shelving on which to put things. Also the window would not open more than a fraction and looked as if it needed replacing. It was hidden behind a blind. The bedroom was huge and well equipped. There’s a nice relaxed atmosphere and the location in the centre of town is perfect. A lovely hotel, despite the shower room.

Very nice hotel. Bit noisy with wedding guests but that was luckily a small thing. Lunch was lovely. Didnt have breakfast as felt price was too much when I got a bacon sandwich for half at local cafe. Lovely village, location perfect for my event.

Spacious accessible room. Large wet room. Room was tastefully decorated and very relaxing. Loved having the radio in room. Drinks in relaxing bar area. Food was very good. Helpful staff atall times.

Lovely old coaching inn, but had to listen to the noise of the hotel generator all night as the old window in our room wouldn’t shut. After a sleepless night, we waited ages at breakfast, then reminded them we still hadn’t received our food. So we got a lukewarm offering that had obviously been forgotten about and congealed, so had to wait again for them to recook it. Not a great stay and expensive at that. Will be pursuing a refund.

We had a lovely short stay at The Talbot. Rooms were clean and spacious, equipped with all the facilities needed for an overnight stay. The bedside book by local author was a lovely touch. The breakfast was extensive, and plenty of options for vegetarian and vegan guests. It would have been nice to have a vegan pastry option but great that a full vegan breakfast and condiments were on the menu. Waiting and reception staff were polite, kind and extremely helpful. My only complaint was that the bed in my room was uncomfortable (this wasn't the case for other guests). The mattress seemed lumpy and the bed base could be felt through the mattress, meaning I had a poor night's sleep. Aside from this, I could not fault the hotel staff and facilities, hence the 5 star review. Thank you for a very pleasant stay!

This is a beautiful property in a very quiet and quaint town. The staff for the on-site restaurant and bar are friendly, although service is a little slow. The food is wonderful and the ambiance is old world charm and cozy.

Spacious accessible room. Large wet room. Room was tastefully decorated and very relaxing. Loved having the radio in room. Drinks in relaxing bar area. Food was very good. Helpful staff atall times.

We used the Hotel as a base for visiting Burghley Horse Trials and it was just ideal. Room was spotless and comfortable. Staff extremely friendly. It was the perfect setting to wind down after a long day with a lovely cup of coffee. The staff kindly started the fabulous breakfast earlier than usual to allow everyone to get on the road. Car Park is quite limited on spaces but able to park on lane which always had spaces.

A really lovely Hotel with very nice gardens in a lovely setting. We had an exec room which was great, had everything you could wish for and the bed was very comfortable. Only one small criticism that a mistake was made at breakfast and we waited over 45 minutes because the order was missed, but it can happen and it certainly didn't spoil our stay. We would return and I would reccomend the hotel and Oundle.

Clean and comfortable room with all amenities provided, lovely traditional hotel nestled in the heart of Oundle. We skipped breakfast on this occasion as it was a disappointment on our last stay.

Very nice hotel. Bit noisy with wedding guests but that was luckily a small thing. Lunch was lovely. Didnt have breakfast as felt price was too much when I got a bacon sandwich for half at local cafe. Lovely village, location perfect for my event.

Absolutely beautiful grade 1 listed hotel in a lovely village. You would need a car to get there and get around as there is not much to do in Oundle village is beautiful and would be great to stay one or two nights without using the car, longer stays would be good if you have transport. We don’t normally go back to places but will try to return here

Hotel, room and staff all very good. Disppointed by breakfast, it was obvious by the curled up edges that the contents of the full english was not cooked fresh. I would stay again though

Lovely old coaching inn, but had to listen to the noise of the hotel generator all night as the old window in our room wouldn’t shut. After a sleepless night, we waited ages at breakfast, then reminded them we still hadn’t received our food. So we got a lukewarm offering that had obviously been forgotten about and congealed, so had to wait again for them to recook it. Not a great stay and expensive at that. Will be pursuing a refund.

I was visiting with family. I’d requested a ground floor room because of mobility issues, which was accommodated. The single room was cosy and comfortable. Nice walk in power shower with multiple heads and great selection of complementary shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I ate in the restaurant four times notwithstanding the breakfast time. The menu is varied and reasonably priced given the high quality of the food which seemed to be cooked to order. Similarly the breakfast menu was varied and is cooked to order while there is a self service continental menu. The members of staff were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. Special mention to charming Lesley, the attentive Joshua and Vicky in the restaurant and best wishes to Jo in her fundraising as she trains for the London Marathon for a deserving cause

Really beautiful place, walking distance from all the town amenities. Staff were lovely and friendly but I don't think there were quite enough of them as one or two seemed quite harried

Arrived late, helpful at reception, but we were in a garden room where a wedding was finishing off in the garden area. Had to shut all windows but could still hear noise outside & no-one at reception this morning to check out with. Very helpful girl in breakfast room offered to help find someone but we were short of time so couldn’t wait.
