I found the location with ease, was pleased with the clean and smart looking building. Welcomed by friendly and professional staff. Dealt with immediately and felt relaxed from the car park to my room. Room was warm, clean and tasteful. Dinner was delicious and service was great. Lovely quiet setting with no disruption or noise throughout the night. Accommodated me with a packed lunch as I checked out early. Excellent.

Super hotel, awesome views, staff extremely helpful and friendly. Easy parking, bar area has a lovely wood burner that gives the area a warm glow. Food in restaurant very tasty and good value for money.

Fantastic service throughout our stay from the staff who made us feel very welcome. Food was fabulous with lots of locally sourced options. Whether you're in the cosy bar or the restaurant, the views across the bay are stunning. Our room was beautifully presented and very comfortable. We can't wait to return.

Powfoot Hotel is a comfortable hotel in a lovely position on the estuary. It is a touch tired in places, thread bare carpet on the main staircase, cracked sinks and rattly doors, but staff were attentive and the food in the restaurant was very nice indeed. The additional balcony with outside furniture for rooms 1-4 was a really nice bonus that I don't remember being advertised and had great views out over the bay and golf course. Great for a brief stop over on the way to Scotland.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to providing a second chair in our room for two. The restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced. Our main gripe was the dreadful condition of the patio table and one chair that had been provided for outdoor seating for a room for two. The table and chair looked as though they had been rescued from a rubbish tip. They were in a disgusting state and it was an insult to think that anyone would want to sit there. Also, being in the annex, which looked like converted stables, there was an outdoor light shining all night and no curtain for the door that had a window in it. This was also a problem in the morning when the sun was up at 4:30 and the light was coming through the glass in the door. I did not have a very good night’s sleep.

Our room was spotless. The bathroom had a large shower and was immaculate. For a small friendly hotel it met our expectations and more. The service at both diner and breakfast was london standard and so friendly. The food was delicious and served hot. Good menu selection too. Amazing and very relaxing.

Such a peaceful location. Great for walking. The hotel itself is in excellent condition. My room had a great sea view and the decor was modern, clean and sympathetic. I had dinner in the hotel and there was a varied choice using locally sourced ingredients. The breakfast was also locally sourced and prepared to order. Just one gripe.. the shower. It took forever for the hot water to come through and the rain head wasn't working. The water pressure was not strong either but i guess that's not an easy thing to solve. Other than that, i enjoyed a restful stop off on my way up the West Coast

Lovely local hotel overlooking the Solway Firth. The room was clean and tidy with ample housekeeping. We had a fabulous view of the Firth, sunsets and night skies, with lots of bird activity during the day, a pair of binoculars wouldnt go amiss! The food was absolutely delicious with lots of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and happy to help. Would we stay again? Absolutely!

Lovely, comfortable room. Well heated and spotless. If I’m being picky I would have liked a full length mirror. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Was there for a family meal and the food was delicious. Great choice and everything was piping hot.

Total Gem! Beautiful views, amazing food….rooms are fresh, clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel sits overlooking the sea and the beautiful Golf course which enhances the tranquility. The restaurant is the real winner here and a must visit for residents or non residents. I have been back twice in the last two weeks!!.

This was our second stay here. The hotel has a very scenic and peaceful location whilst being easily reached on good roads. There is plenty to do nearby if you want it but we go for the views and to walk by the Solway Firth. The hotel is well run and the staff are friendly and helpful. Special mention for Lisa from the restaurant who recognised us from our previous visit - which was years ago! Impressive. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and was delicious. Dinner was excellent and a good variety to choose from. We didn't manage a sweet but heard them praised by other diners. Proper coffee machine in the room too (I don't drink instant). Decent size tv but we couldn't get many channels as signal seemed weak but that's a minor quibble. All being well we will be back!

I found the location with ease, was pleased with the clean and smart looking building. Welcomed by friendly and professional staff. Dealt with immediately and felt relaxed from the car park to my room. Room was warm, clean and tasteful. Dinner was delicious and service was great. Lovely quiet setting with no disruption or noise throughout the night. Accommodated me with a packed lunch as I checked out early. Excellent.

Powfoot Hotel is a comfortable hotel in a lovely position on the estuary. It is a touch tired in places, thread bare carpet on the main staircase, cracked sinks and rattly doors, but staff were attentive and the food in the restaurant was very nice indeed. The additional balcony with outside furniture for rooms 1-4 was a really nice bonus that I don't remember being advertised and had great views out over the bay and golf course. Great for a brief stop over on the way to Scotland.

Total Gem! Beautiful views, amazing food….rooms are fresh, clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel sits overlooking the sea and the beautiful Golf course which enhances the tranquility. The restaurant is the real winner here and a must visit for residents or non residents. I have been back twice in the last two weeks!!.

Touring southern Scotland, this location made a lot of geographical sense . I’d rate this a 3 star location. A bit remote ( not in a bad way) - it’s right on the firth of Solway and you can walk right out onto the mudflats . The hotel may be a bit aged but our room, restaurant experience and staff were all quite acceptable. Good location if you prefer being out of town and on the firth

Such a peaceful location. Great for walking. The hotel itself is in excellent condition. My room had a great sea view and the decor was modern, clean and sympathetic. I had dinner in the hotel and there was a varied choice using locally sourced ingredients. The breakfast was also locally sourced and prepared to order. Just one gripe.. the shower. It took forever for the hot water to come through and the rain head wasn't working. The water pressure was not strong either but i guess that's not an easy thing to solve. Other than that, i enjoyed a restful stop off on my way up the West Coast

A really lovely hotel and a very lovely room too. Main issue was that my partner is vegan and I have a dairy allergy and the vegan options at breakfast were pretty much non-existent. Staff were lovely though and I will definitely be back

Really nice breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Lovely unusual location overlooking Solway to the front and golf course to the side. A little hamlet off the beaten track. Excellent restaurant. Table service only for the bar a slight downer for us. We stayed here as an alternative to gretna for a wedding. Great choice for us as it gave us more chill time and choice.

Cute place, amazing location, a bit outdated but the tub in the bathroom was awesome to have after walking. Restaurant was ok, the staff seemed overwhelmed most of the time. Food was good. The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and kept turning on by itself all night so you had to keep the door shut, but the light still made noise when it would click on and off, super annoying for a light sleeper. It is directly on the Solway Firth which was so cool. It was also adjacent to a golf course and the early tee times were a nuisance because they are loud, again not great for light sleepers. Good for one or two nights.
