Hotel 1914 - Historic Alamo Riverwalk, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The building itself isn’t much to look at but It is in a convenient location, extremely clean & a short walk to the riverwalk, not to mention, a full breakfast is included with their very reasonable rates.

Good: modern rooms, free breakfast, courteous staff, fast valet, close to Riverwalk. Bad: very loud cars and people outside hotel, breakfast was minimal, enormous cockroach in room, rooms and valet very overpriced (valet $50+tip). If this hotel was half the price, maybe, but at these rates, in this neighborhood, it just felt scuzzy.

Well, the lobby floor was filthy for the two days we spent at the hotel…stuff spilled it looked like that just attracts dirt and looks yucky, but nobody cared enough to mop up the lobby floors or those in the elevators. Couldn’t raise the curtains in our room as a couple were broken, and hard to figure out honestly. **The Ice from the hall machine had bugs in it.** The breakfast downstairs was very good…located in Indian food restaurant next door. Coffee was good. Rooms were tiny, beds comfortable, bathrooms were seemingly updated…It was cheap and just minutes walking to all the stuff you want to walk to. Alamo, River Walk and tons of bars/restaurants and sites to see.
