Great location and staff. Comfortable, clean and good facilities

Let’s start with what we liked. The Indian meal was tasty. The waiters were pleasant and attentive. The bedlinen was clean. Now for the dislikes. Besides the dining areas the hotel is very shabby. We were in room 327 which appeared to be even more so with wallpaper coming off the walls, damp patches, cracked tiles and overall very, very tired. Very few people appeared to be staying but all of us were put on the top floor. One would think the management might think to put the few guests they are having into the best rooms available. The hotel is very expensive for what it provides. Take my advice and stay elsewhere.

Not much to expect for £50 a night, but its a tired place. Service in the Bar and Restaurant was poor and the food was basic. The ensuite room in 123 left much to the imagination how you fit in, and the shower could do with some attention.

The hotel is conveniently located for the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants. The staff at reception, in the restaurant and the bar were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful although the quality of cooked food was average. The food in the Rio restaurant was fine but the service was extremely slow - also there was no red Italian wine on the menu at a restaurant that describes itself as Italian (??). Our room was clean (apart from some mould in the shower) and over-furnished with slightly rickety furniture - the bed was not very comfortable, with very noisy mattress springs. Overall we had a pretty good stay.

Getting run down. Very noisey outside until early hours.

Staff are trying hard, but the place is in need of an intense makeover. The hallway on the first floor is caving in, the lift may or may not be a hazard and water leaked badly in 2/3 bathrooms which led us to believe there might be mold. We booked for the Cowal games but the mob of teenagers on the steps was disconcerting and the carnival and partying kept us up until the wee hours. The fire alarm going off at 7 in the morning (maybe due to hairspray being sprayed) was the icing on the cake.

Another great stay at this friendly hotel, Cowal games weekend, great place, the people & surrounding businesses are all very helpful & friendly, we love this place, feels like our second home. The Argyll Hotel has always been our choice of place to stay, staff are great & very accommodating, rooms are lovely & the restaurants within hotel are fantastic. Hotel is very central for everywhere in Dunoon, always had a great experience here & will definitely be back soon

Very friendly staff the hotel is dated and needs updating but after saying that it is a old building and is tight in the centre of town

Unfortunately my review is not a positive one. We booked a premium room and were sorely disappointed. The room as a fantastic size but the carpet was absolutely filthy. The bathroom tiled floor was full of cracks. The 6 panel door leading into the bathroom was filthy. Although the interior was dated, well worn it does not mean it should be dirty. The rubber bath mat was torn and should have been binned and replaced sometime ago. We were also unfortunate to have dinner there. My husband ordered fish and chips at a cost of £13.95. He was served with plate of cheap frozen processed food. The fish was rectangular in shape and instead of being light and fluffy it was hard condensed fish pieces, the kind you get in a pack of 4 at a freezer store. Frozen chips and frozen garden peas. I estimate the contents would cost 2-3 pounds at max. I ordered a desert of profiteroles wit cream and like the fish was straight out of bargain freezer shop. To eat this a large spoon was handed to me and before I could ask for a dessert fork and fresh napkin the waiter was off. The spoon I was given was probably there since the hotel opened. It was tarnished and extremely old. It was the type you fined in your grandfathers tool box. We paid £117 pounds for one night which didn’t include breakfast, however, this turned out to be a blessing. I’m of the opinion the room was over rated and should not be advertised as a premium room in a 3star hotel. This is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Shower had empty bottle from previous resident left in the corner. Shower didn’t drain very well leaving you feeling like you may flood the bathroom. Check in was easy and the staff nice.

I have stayed in the Argyle Hotel numerous times so I am comfortable with the staff and the surroundings The rooms are.cleaned every day and any items used are replenished The breakfast staff are like family and the food good

High level of cleanliness, although room was slightly dated. Unable to try restaurant, arrived at 20:45 to be told we were too late, plenty of choice on the menu.

Very old dated small attic room with slanted floor and low ceiling. Room was smelly and dirty with old furniture and uncomfortable bed. The cost for one night was much to high for this quality of hotel.

The hotel is run down, the stairway smells terrible. The decor throughout is in poor condition. The room was dirty, walls full of marks, mould in the bathroom. The carpet was very worn and smells. The plug sockets near the bed worked one minute then not the next. Water in the room not replaced after day 1. Only ate breakfast and it was just ok but was obvioulsy all pre cooked and reheated ( sometimes anyway as the beans were cold one day ) All in all a poor hotel that seems to have no interest in trying anymore. They have clearly given up and it shows. Wouldn’t recommend or return

However the TV had no signal and although there was a telephone there was nothing to plug it into. We complained and they moved us to a lovely family room. No sea view but the staff were very helpful and kind

However the TV had no signal and although there was a telephone there was nothing to plug it into. We complained and they moved us to a lovely family room. No sea view but the staff were very helpful and kind

Great for an extended stay, service was great and reception staff were superb. Would recommend *****

The gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant and personable. He made check in and out excellent.

Stayed with grandchildren in a great room. Staff extremely knowledgeable and accomodating. I did not like the breakfast dining experience. No back ground music the food was not great and you coukd hear a pin drop. No one talking at tables it felt awkward. Otherwise a great stay. I will stay again it was very pricey but location is why

There was no night time staff and there was blood on the entrance door. Felt very unsafe

Great weekend stay as usual, always our go to hotel when in Dunoon, staff very friendly & attentive, restaurant food quality & service great as usual. Will be back again soon
