Steeped in history. The hotel retained lots of original features and had great character. Brilliant room, nicely and tastefully decorated. Bar closed at 10pm, but 11 would have been good in order to get that nightcap. Pleasant staff. Would definately stay again.

Nice and easy check in, we reserved a space in the car park which was 100 metres away, even after check out we could leave it there until 1:00pm which enabled us to take a short walk to the shopping centre. The room was comfortable and well equipped with ironing board, on return from an event we used the restaurant not arriving until 10:00pm and although it shuts at 10:00pm they were happy to seat us, it’s an Indian restaurant and the food and service was excellent. We didn’t pre book breakfast and as we were only there for 1 night didn’t use the steam room or Sauna but we could see some guests using it. Overall a hotel perfect for what we wanted.

We stayed during December and the Christmas tree and decorations were stunning - check in and out was super easy, the room was a great size and exactly as shown in photos, very clean and tidy, loved the historic photos and the bronze wall featured on the staircase. We stayed on the ground floor and it was extremely noisy, they had Christmas music playing in the foyer which could be heard very loudly from the room as well as staff up and about from 7am, you could hear word for word what they were saying and it was quite disruptive, we arrived at 3pm and wanted to head to the bar for a drink but it doesn’t open till 6pm and it’s just a room in the basement with a few stools for the noise and attempted bar, I wouldn’t stay again however staff were helpful and room was in great condition.

Really wonderful hotel with a great spa. The staff were great and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Parking was easy and relatively affordable for London. It is in a residential neighborhood that requires crossing a highway via pedestrian bridge (up and then down 2 flights of stairs on either side, or waiting for the lift) to get to the Tube (10-15 min walk). That was the only downside though, otherwise it was a really excellent experience.

On arrival advised lift to my room level not working . Meant three sets of stairs to move bag to room . I advised I was leaving on second morning at 6 am & if lift not operable I wanted to relocate to a lower level room. In room : Fridge did not work Safe did not work Window in room had cracked glass House cleaning staff entered room unannounced Shower drain overflowed & flooded the bathroom Hot water not evident at 5 am I was moved to a convenient room only after much haranguing of front staff

Reception and staff were kind but unenthusiastic. I was told flatly my room wasn't ready even though I was attempting to check in only 30 mins before check in time & had written expressing my hope for an early check in & willingness to pay for it (they offer this on their website). They sent me to the restaurant, which came to seem like a ploy, as I only wanted a drink and a snack & the waitstaff while kind questioned my choice, & kept encouraging me to order more & to come back that night, the following morning & the next night. The food was truly delicious, but I didn't want more than I wanted. The duplex room was interesting (the hotel is a converted town hall) & spacious, but the strange German-language lighting & climate control system was frustrating & the room was stuffy & hot. I slept poorly. The hotel is 20 min walk from Canary Wharf, but this walk is up & down a highly elevated pedestrian bridge & through a big construction site. A couple of blocks in the other direction there are council housing buildings with many boarded up windows, a pretty grim and depressing area when you're hoping for a carefree getaway. The gym had only three cardio machines & free weights, but no towels, no sanitizer, & no water. The one appetizer I had in the South Indian restaurant was very, very good, & unlike anything I'd had before (I love Indian cuisine); if I were staying longer and the hotel weren't in a kind of depressing location I would have gone back, but have no plans to now.

The staff were all extremely welcoming. We didn’t have time on this trip to enjoy the spa or food offerings. But looking forward to it on our next visit. The room was spotless and comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay.

Rooms not clean. Stayed there 5 nights and room only tendered too twice. Carpets not vacuumed, bins not emptied. The best thing for this hotel is the breakfast ladies who are very pleasant.

Beautiful room. Clean, quiet, next to a tube stop. Couldn’t ask for more really. Paid £290 for two nights so can’t grumble at that price. Would recommend.

A beautiful property in Canary Wharf. Our room was spacious and very clean and all staff were friendly. While it’s not located in the city centre, the transport links are only a short walk away and there are lots of local bars and restaurants.

Great hotel in a good location with easy access to the tube and the DLR. All staff were very professional and friendly. Room was lovely and modern with great air con, hotel was really clean throughout.

The hotel was lovely with excellent breakfast. One small thing was our room was not serviced after our first night which wasnt a major concern with reception when we reported it , on discovering this in the evening.

This hotel is furnished to a high standard and easily accessible from Canary Wharf. We liked the split level room and appreciated having air conditioning during a heatwave. The room was not maintained to the highest standard - there were stains on the carpet, missing crystals on the chandelier, scratches on the walls. As the hotel takes a £100 security deposit I would have hoped these things would be remedied and it did make me concerned that I would be blamed for these issues. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we had a good stay.

The room we were given after a late night check in was of poor condition. We struggled to lock the door, the aircon did not work (it was a very warm night) the hotel had placed a fan in the room which was right next to the bed and even on the lowest setting was too loud. The bathroom vanity light didn’t switch off - and the bathroom door was frosted glass, so you were in the light all the time. There wasn’t a window in the room to open. The carpet had dirty marks on it and the wardrobe draw was falling to bits. There was no phone in the room to call reception or spare hangers in the wardrobe to hang clothes. I got dressed and went back to reception just before midnight - who handed over keys to another room of far better quality. We then had to repack and move. The next morning when I complained- reception advised they were aware of the issues! When I said why would you let that room, the reply was “I know”…. The room was number 202. It’s not of the quality in the images. It really did ruin our nights sleep - and we only stayed for that. It’s such a beautiful hotel too.

My only beef mini fridge made cracking noises all night and the curtains are not blackout - light around edges hence I was wide awake at 7.30am when I was hoping to sleep a lot longer.. But apart from that a beautiful room and hotel..

Nice enough hotel - 10-15 min walk from Canary Wharf. Bar only opens from 6pm and there’s nothing that nearby other that CW. We had a Club Room - interesting layout. Bed upstairs (quite steep) from the rest of the facilities. Bit awkward if you need the loo in the night - if that’s an issue for you I would choose another room. I sense it’s more geared up for corporate stays - bearing in mind it’s proximity to CW. Unfortunately we had no hot water during our stay - so no shower or bath for us or our friends in the room next door (rooms 106 and 105)…. Disappointing response from front desk “yes - we have a problem with the boiler and we are going to get it fixed later”. Didn’t offer any kind of refund or compensation - we paid £240 for the night per room for two rooms (so not cheap and you’d expect better for that) - left my email for the manager to contact me - not heard anything yet.

Great property and mostly good service. However, the AC in my room was not working properly. Not only were they inable to fix it, but the front desk person argued with me on the morningnof checkout telling me it was working fine and I'm wrong. Also, the wifi didnt support video calls. It's a shame because it's a very cute property with a great indian reataurant down below with a perfect back terrace.

The hotel is really convenient for Poplar DLR and heading to Canary Wharf for dinner. The room was quirky with a mezzanine level for the bed, and everything you need for a short stay in London. However, the room was incredibly hot and we just couldn't get the temperature down. Did report it and something was done remotely but the temperature stayed the same. This led to two very uncomfortable nights. Noise carries through the walls too! I asked twice for a different pillow because the ones provided were really high. No pillow ever appeared.

A very quiet hotel from outside noise and lovely staff , stored our bags prior to check in , issues were bathroom light in room doesn't turn off and opaque door so very poor sleep, stuffy hot rooms with no opening windows (age of building) and air con not very good but provided a fan which was large and very noisy, broken plug for table lamp and fridge not cold. The website is out of date stating food options that are not available.....pan Asian restaurant which if we had know we wouldn't have chosen hotel as we don't eat that cuisine but they offered alternatives and the hotel is connected to a very successful Asian restaurant business so probably very good if you like curry. Breakfast ok, simple choices and easily able to walk to Canary Wharf.

The stairs on the first floor within the hotel room on the first floor were too steep for me to climb. I have a torn meniscus on my knee. The bathroom and bedroom were on separate floors. The hotel was full and so unable to move me. I had to ask for a quilt and pillow so that I could sleep on the floor. No sheet was provided and no one cared to ask how I was or offer any compensation. I understand that when I booked in December there was a photo of the room but I had no idea the stairs were so steep or the bathroom was on a different floor. Our son had booked us a show at the O2 arena 2 years ago and thus was a big treat for us so disappointing to face a night on a hard floor. The room is very nice but totally inaccessible for an elderly person and this was not flagged up in the hotel booking.zI would have been prepared to pay more to have a better room and would have appreciated even another quilt to sleep on instead of the floor. I felt there was no sympathy and a very hard nosed approach to my unfortunate situation. I am awaiting some sort of response from the management

Highly recommend this hotel - Great location - 10 min walk to Canary Wharf tube, and even nearer for Poplar DLR station. Loved the sauna / steam room too. Massive room with great features - mine was a mezzanine/ split level room. USB chargers made a nice touch.

The hotel looks great on the surface but could do with some updating. Don’t waste your money on upgrading to a “club room” the bathroom was TINY, if you are of a larger size you will not fit past the shower and sink! Bathroom is also boiling and no working fan or air con. My friends stayed in a normal double room which looked so much nicer than our club room, bathroom was a lot nicer. Mattress is SUPER hard and pillows too soft. Breakfast was good, although a little more fruit choice would be nice. There was also a gurgling noise all night, almost like someone had left a bath running and you could hear it going through the pipes, possibly the air con but it was too hot to switch it off. I reckon if you don’t stay club room it’s worth the money.

When we arrived at our room the key card didn’t work. When we went back to reception to get it fixed, the manager came and was also unable to unlock the room with a mechanical key. We were waiting 20 minutes while they tried to ram the door open. They told us they had no other room we could go in. When we said we would be uncomfortable staying in a room that could lock us in like that, the manager spoke to us in an angry and argumentative manner. There was no apology or compensation from the manager for the issue or delay. Instead they spoke to us disrespectfully. They then found a room for us to go in, despite initially saying they were fully booked. The heating in the room was blasting hot. We couldn’t turn it off and the air con didn’t seem to counteract it. I asked reception to turn the heating off while we were out, we returned home to a room that was boiling hot. She had not turned the heating off like she said she would. Overall the hotel was very clean and in a quiet area. However, the room was more tired than I would hope considering the price. The biggest disappointment was the rude manager.

Hotel needs to review its policies. I arrived at late 1130pm to check in. Because of my partner had making this booking for me, the receptionist said I needed to cancel and rebook as the booking had to be in my name! Even though I had already paid using my credit card in advance. He then insisted on a damage deposit of £100 which had to be paid by my partner, not me!! Eventually he yielded and said I could pay this, but the concept is offensive in itself. I was not staying in this hotel to have wild parties on a Monday evening! The whole check in process took 30 minutes, late at night when all I wanted to do was get to my already paid for room and sleep. It was a complete farce- never again will I return. It is a shame because the hotel is very nice, customer service really lets it down.

The room was beautiful however a few minor hiccups were dealt with poorly. We were woken at 7.00-7.30 by a lot of noise outside our door - we felt this was the cleaners. We were told they start at 9 (which we knew wasn’t truthful as they were outside our door at 8.30 when we came out) the sauna and steam weren’t at a reasonable temperature so we were underwhelmed by that and we have just been back having left some items in the room to be told they have been put in the bin. We feel this is theft and completely unacceptable. My friend spoke to the receptionist about the minor issues this morning and as told somebody would contact her today. Apart from the theft, we feel the other issues would have been easily resolvable if we had felt listened to, weren’t laughed at (which we feel was unprofessional however it was viewed) and if we were given a simple apology however our main issue was how it was dealt with and when my friend tried to address this again before we left, she had two members of staff talking over her. from this moment, we went from underwhelmed to completley appalled - not to mention how abrupt the member of staff was in the restaurant this morning, which again, was not addressed.

Reception and staff were kind but unenthusiastic. I was told flatly my room wasn't ready even though I was attempting to check in only 30 mins before check in time & had written expressing my hope for an early check in & willingness to pay for it (they offer this on their website). They sent me to the restaurant, which came to seem like a ploy, as I only wanted a drink and a snack & the waitstaff while kind questioned my choice, & kept encouraging me to order more & to come back that night, the following morning & the next night. The food was truly delicious, but I didn't want more than I wanted. The duplex room was interesting (the hotel is a converted town hall) & spacious, but the strange German-language lighting & climate control system was frustrating & the room was stuffy & hot. I slept poorly. The hotel is 20 min walk from Canary Wharf, but this walk is up & down a highly elevated pedestrian bridge & through a big construction site. A couple of blocks in the other direction there are council housing buildings with many boarded up windows, a pretty grim and depressing area when you're hoping for a carefree getaway. The gym had only three cardio machines & free weights, but no towels, no sanitizer, & no water. The one appetizer I had in the South Indian restaurant was very, very good, & unlike anything I'd had before (I love Indian cuisine); if I were staying longer and the hotel weren't in a kind of depressing location I would have gone back, but have no plans to now.

Abdul and the staff members at reception were wonderful. Abdul helped me with my bags and wouldn’t even consider taking a tip. The lady clearing breakfast was the same (Anita?). She was lovely too. These people made a delightful historical property a place that I would definitely consider going back to again.

Hotel is walking distance- a few minutes to the DLR station Poplar giving easy access to Canary Wharf and central London. The staff were lovely, kind, responsive and very welcoming, shout out to Ernest Knox who made us feel welcome, was alway la smiling and made sure knew where we were going. Breakfast was fresh, well prepared and the restaurant area had a lovely atmosphere. We would absolutely return and high recommend this hotel.

The hotel is really convenient for Poplar DLR and heading to Canary Wharf for dinner. The room was quirky with a mezzanine level for the bed, and everything you need for a short stay in London. However, the room was incredibly hot and we just couldn't get the temperature down. Did report it and something was done remotely but the temperature stayed the same. This led to two very uncomfortable nights. Noise carries through the walls too! I asked twice for a different pillow because the ones provided were really high. No pillow ever appeared.

A real lovely little find near Canary. The neighbourhood may be seen as a little sketchy, but not thing too bad and certainly nothing a native New Yorker / Bostonite / Chicagoan, etc. would even bat an eye at. Very good accessibility via Poplar DLR and Canary Wharf Metro. In short, worth it.

Really wonderful hotel with a great spa. The staff were great and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Parking was easy and relatively affordable for London. It is in a residential neighborhood that requires crossing a highway via pedestrian bridge (up and then down 2 flights of stairs on either side, or waiting for the lift) to get to the Tube (10-15 min walk). That was the only downside though, otherwise it was a really excellent experience.

Lansbury Heritage Hotel is fantastic. It's starting to look a little bit run down in the narrow and small lobby, but the rooms are fantastic. Great water pressure in the shower, space in the minibar for your own stuff, great beds and lovely pillows, great lighting system that allows you to control everything from the bed. It's difficult to get here with lots of luggage, you'll likely want to get the DLR to Poplar even if you travel with the Elizabeth Line. I'd happily return!

A beautiful property in Canary Wharf. Our room was spacious and very clean and all staff were friendly. While it’s not located in the city centre, the transport links are only a short walk away and there are lots of local bars and restaurants.

Beautiful communal areas and really nice rooms. Hotel advertises having a restaurant on site which isn’t true, they have a small snack bar which literally only had pepperoni pizza when we stayed, this information should have been made clear to us at check in. Also very small selection of drinks at the bar (no white wine at all). Spa facilities are nice but you have to notify staff when you want to use them so they can turn the sauna/steam room on which takes 15 minutes. Overall beautiful hotel with just a few minor issues.

This is a lovely hotel. Great Indian restaurant on site. Amazing cocktails.We stayed in a club room. Stairs were very steep and shower was a step in over bath shower. Shower was great but was very slippery and there was no anti slip mat. I slipped even though I was careful. I did raise this with reception but otherwise a fantastic stay.

Conveniently located a short walk from Canary Wharf station & very reasonably priced for the quality compared to hotels in the West End or City. Limited dining options at the hotel (I was offered pizza, pizza or pizza & charged a ridiculous amount for it.)

Our whole stay here was fabulous. Amazing quiet room and the bedt breakfast with so much choice. Also enjoyed sauna and steam room for a chill out.

Less than 10 minute walk from Canary Wharf Tubes, or a few minutes from Poplar DLR, this hotel is a great find, was cheaper than a Travel Lodge and so much nicer. Friendly staff, great breakfast and clean well equipped rooms. I will be re-booking when I'm next in town, for sure.
