The hotel, part of a larger hotel (Royal National Hotel) is situated a 5 minute walk from Russell Square Underground station. The hotel is spotlessly clean, very airy with lots of great features; bar, restaurant, car parking, mini shop, luggage store. The multi-national staff are all so friendly, happy and very willing to help in any way. Our room, although designed for a person with disabilities, had everything that we needed. It was spacious, comfortable bed, TV, safe, ironing board & iron and electric fan as the room is not air conditioned. The room does not have a fridge and the windows, which open, are not double glazed. However, the road adjacent to the entrance is not overly busy. Breakfast is £15 per head, which may seem a lot, but you would probably more going out to eat. The breakfast was certainly plentiful and a varied selection of foods and drinks were available. The orange juice is always a gauge for quality, and The City Sleeper breakfast is certainly quality. We did not use the bar or the restaurant during our stay, so cannot pass comment. Overall, our stay was excellent.

Positives: Clean room, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, helpful staff, excellent location (Picadilly line from Heathrow to Russell Square with the tube), well organized baggage storage. Negatives: Breakfast too expensive for what is offered. Would recommend choosing from one of the many cafés in the neighborhood instead. No fridge in the room. Also, be aware that the hotel is kind of a sublet of a bigger hotel. Feels a bit strange when you arrive, but did not matter at all once-in-a-lifetime you are checked on.

For a large, busy hotel, the Royal National is always exceptionally well organised and staff go out of their way to provide great service. The City Sleeper at the Royal National provides nicer, upgraded rooms in a quieter wing of the hotel. It comes with its own reception desk and separate breakfast room. Brilliant location only 15 minutes walk from Kings Cross station and then 20 minutes onwards to Covent Garden. Nearest tube stop and also the British Museum are 5 minutes away. With London hotels costing a fortune, especially at the weekend, this is our ‘go to’ hotel when visiting the capital; providing a good balance of cost, location and quality.

This is a nice hotel, seems recently updated but they try and make you use an app for a key and it is very annoying, you can ask for a key apparently. Also the security is very high and ridiculously so - the lift won’t even stop at your floor unless you tap the key, that’s fine but when the lift is busy it’s very annoying. Minor things though

Updated, clean , neat. QUIET! Great price point! Phenomenal service, good English breakfast included. Extremely secure which is great for a solo female traveler. Waitrose, Boots and 24hr Tesco nearby and a 5 min walk to Russell Square Station on Picadilly Line

Hotel was very convenient with parking on site. The room was quite small but very nice & clean with a comfortable bed. I booked a twin/double & wanted a twin but there was no option to request this. The room was setup as a double & there were no twins available. Not sure if that was the hotel or Expedia at fault!

Overall positive experience given the terrific proximity to three stations as well as a close by Underground station. However, we checked in to find dirty bedsheets, and a clearly unvaccumed floor. The bed was a bit hard, the pillows a bit stiff, but we’ve experienced worse. All the staff we encountered were kind and polite, and the breakfast was reasonably priced and sumptuous. Overall, on the positive, particularly for the nightly rate.

Location was perfect for shopping and sightseeing with several tube stations within short walking distance. Area felt safe and convenient stores and restaurants nearby. Hotel was clean and well kept with spacious room and good facilities including very comfortable beds and bedding and smart tv. Room was serviced every day during our stay which was lovely.

The hotel overall was very clean and I would stay here again. I’m response to some of the observations in other reviews I would say the bed was firm but still comfortable. We had no issues with street noise during the evenings. The doors to the rooms do not have a soft close therefore you can hear closing doors echoing in the hallway if other guests are not considerate. There is no AC but there is fan which was adequate in July. Bathrooms are well lit, clean and modern.

Staff were very nice and helpful. The room was a decent size and very clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. The shower was great and toiletries nice. I wouldn’t stay again due to the traffic noise. I’m a light sleeper so it kept me awake. I couldn’t fault the hotel apart from that.

Overall, the hotel is very clean and comfortable. The citysleeper rooms have modern decor and clean bathrooms. However, the shower was completely unusable due to the abysmal water pressure. It was a dribble. It was so bad, it would prevent me from booking this hotel again.

There is a large courtyard with a pizza restaurant and a pub and lots ts if seating for gatherings. Even with the windows closed the noise from the area was unacceptable, with constant noise from diners, dunkers and conversation until about 2am and stating again at 6am. The windows are single glazed so provided no sound proofing. And there is no air con so with the windows closed the room was far too hot. I can't recommend this hotel

I stayed in a twin room for three nights in September 2025. The room was very clean, which to me is the most important thing, and the bed was very comfy. We had everything we needed. We did actually swap rooms after the first night as the first room overlooked a large courtyard that was a bit noisy during the night, but the second room was quiet. My stay was for a hospital visit, and the hotel is very handy for UCL hospital. There are lots of nice places to eat at night within a short walk. I didn’t have breakfast in the hotel so can’t comment on the food. I had a bit of a problem getting the WiFi going initially as it would only allow me to connect one device (I needed to use my phone and my iPad). Apparently it should be possible to connect four (there were two of us staying in the room). The receptionist tried to help but wasn’t able to, but he referred me to his colleague who soon showed me a way round the problem. Thereafter I had no problem at all connecting with either device for the remaining three days. I’d very happily stay again as it was so clean, and I’d recommend it to others.

Cozy little room, slept well. But there was noise constantly from rooms next door and the courtyard until late at night, if you wake up easily, it will be a problem. Also there is no slippers, toothbrush etc given, and no fridge too. However the hotel is indeed in an excellent location with many attractions in walking distance.

Overall, a good place for a short stay in London, especially as it's so easy to get the Piccadilly line to Heathrow airport. The hotel was quiet and the room very clean. Only negative was how slow the check-in was.

Main issue was check-in - we queued for a while in the main lobby as it wasn't clear there was a separate check-in for the City Sleeper wing. Signage was not clear on this point. Everything else was great.

Staff at the front desk were very inexperienced. The customer service was very poor and minimal. During my stay, I had an emergency and had to check out a few days ahead of schedule. Front desk staff refused to give me any type of paper print out, indicating that I was checking out. I called back the next day when I had made it back home and spoke with the manager and even though they were free to check the rooms (the manager did not believe that I had checked out) and see that I had checked out and my family and I and our belongings were no longer there, they continued to refuse to send me any type of documentation that I had checked out early. They seemed very bothered by my phone call and not concerned at all that I had to cut my trip short due to an emergency at home. I would not recommend this hotel if you would like good customer service from the front desk or from the management. I would say that the maintenance staff was very courteous and helpful. I had an issue with a flickering light in my room and maintenance came right away and assisted/fixed the issue.
Staff at the front desk were very inexperienced. The customer service was very poor and minimal. During my stay, I had an emergency and had to check out a few days ahead of schedule. Front desk staff refused to give me any type of paper print out, indicating that I was checking out. I called back the next day when I had made it back home and spoke with the manager and even though they were free to check the rooms (the manager did not believe that I had checked out) and see that I had checked out and my family and I and our belongings were no longer there, they continued to refuse to send me any type of documentation that I had checked out early. They seemed very bothered by my phone call and not concerned at all that I had to cut my trip short due to an emergency at home. I would not recommend this hotel if you would like good customer service from the front desk or from the management. I would say that the maintenance staff was very courteous and helpful. It's in a good location and has clean rooms. Could be a little noisy at night, but it didn't get super loud at any point. Near a station for the Underground or is a 15 minute walk to King's Cross. Safe area with good selection of restaurants nearby.

Excellent location just a short way from Kings Cross. The City Sleeper rooms have a new, fresh, very clean feel, with all usual amenities (shower/hair, tea/coffee etc). Would highly recommend breakfast which was a buffet with a good selection of alternatives. To summarise, an absolutely great value London hotel.

Location was perfect for shopping and sightseeing with several tube stations within short walking distance. Area felt safe and convenient stores and restaurants nearby. Hotel was clean and well kept with spacious room and good facilities including very comfortable beds and bedding and smart tv. Room was serviced every day during our stay which was lovely.

The location of the hotel is excellent - very close to the tube station and the British Museum. A lovely hotel room with very comfortable beds and very clean. The only thing that I was not happy with is that we were charged a 15% service charge for sitting outside and having table service at The London Pub which belongs to the hotel. We were not made aware of this when we sat down and when paying the bill I was not told about the 15% service charge nor was I given I receipt. I was only told this after I queried why £5 extra had been added to my bill. I was not impressed with this.

It was convenient, reasonably priced, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was well managed and the food was varied and plentiful. However, the window catch in my room was broken- I couldn’t close the window and the room would have benefitted from tissues and body lotion. I would book again.

Enjoyable trip staying at the hotel as a party of 2, incredibly friendly staff and clean property. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast which included a range of both continental and cooked breakfast foods. The location of the hotel is excellent, 10minutes walk from Euston Train Station and 5minutes walk to the nearest Tube Station which is well connected on the Piccadilly line - all major tourist hotspots.

Stayed one night for a special occasion and the hotel and room were perfect. The room was absolutely spotlessly clean and well appointed with a lovely fresh bathroom ensuite. Check in super quick and they kept our luggage after checkout until early evening for no extra charge so that we didn't have to find storage elsewhere until we travelled home. Breakfast very good with all the foods you might want fresh and well presented. Only point worth noting is that there was no air con - it didn't matter for us as the weather was clement but if it was a heat wave it might be something to be aware of. However we would certainly use this hotel again, it is probabaly the best short stay hotel in this area of London in this price bracket.

The breakfast was indeed great. It was, however, the same options each day. For a stay of 11 plus days, the same meals each morning became very boring. Great breakfast nonetheless. The bed sheets were not thoroughly clean. There was evidence of hair on the sheets. Dare I say it did not look like hair from the head but from other parts of the body. The room was also cold. I do believe that the closed window does not provide an adequate seal from the outside low temperatures. Overall, it is a decent hotel if you are looking at price.

The City Sleeper room was nice and modern but very expensive for what it offered. It was small although fine for one person. I understand that we mainly pay for the location but I still don't think it was worth the price. I was able to see some of the rooms at the Royal National Hotel, not the ones in the City Sleeper wing, and the difference didn't seem that significant despite the considerably lower price. The amenities are also all shared. Unfortunately, I got sick during my stay and there was no room service and the hotel restaurants were outside the building. The small convenience shop next to reception didn't have many options apart from snacks which couldn't really replace a proper meal. I would recommend checking availability at the regular Royal National Hotel first and then considering the rooms at the City Sleeper wing.
