Lovely pub and friendly staff room very large though on the front of the pub so we did get some road noise . Car park is very tight to park when pub is busy and entrance to car park is awkward food is excellent but could do with a steak on the menu . Excellent choice of beers and spirits very pleasant stay . We would stay again .

The only negative is that there is no Uber or taxi service in the area. The buses. There is also no Air conditioning in the room but there is a fan. I would definitely go back because the area is stunning and the rooms were clean and spacious

The Moon has great character, a fascinating history (I'm distantly related to many of the past owners from the 1800s), excellent amenities, and excellent breakfasts. I enjoyed my dinners there, too. Josh and Emma from the staff were both very friendly and helpful to me. The parking is easy, the inn centrally located in the heart of the village, and lots of local characters stop by for a pint and folks from further afield for a meal. A quintessential Derbyshire experience. Not my first time staying there and certainly not my last.

The hotel room is spacious. Not accessible and the old hotel building doesn't have a lift, but staff can help with luggage. Good water pressure in the toilets.

The hotel bedrooms and hallways urgently need refurbishment.The carpets in my room and just outside were stained in several places, so I felt it was dirty. Maybe there has been water damage and that is what the stains were. There was also a musty smell in the room, once again maybe because the carpets in the room had water on them and it wasn't dried quickly. The bedroom floor was also very uneven, which again could be caused by water leak in the room. The part of the ensuite is in the eves and being a tall person I bumped my head a few times when using the toilet, despite the "Mind Your Head" sign. The breakfast was good with quality ingredients, although the toast had hardly any colour. However, I felt sorry for the overworked chef, who took the orders, cooked the breakfasts and then served them. The check in service was a bit slow and there was no one there, other than the chef, for my check out. Luckily my stay was only one night and I was only in the room to sleep, and the bed was at least OK. The bed, bar and dining room for breakfast were all dog friendly, so a thumbs up for that. I had a nice real ale in the bar before I went out for the evening. Until the necessary refurbishment is done, I would not recommend or stay here again.

Room and Shower Room was clean and functional if smaller and less picturesque than photos on Expedia had led us to believe. Restaurant closed on Mondays. Hotel is on A6 within easy reach (15 mins) from Bakewell and Chatsworth Estate.

This was perfectly adequate in terms of the accommodation, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We do feel, however, that the pub is rather tired and ‘run down’, and would benefit from some investment. The towels were small and thin, the pillows were worn, and the en suite is in need of a few minor repairs. Food was quite good (better on our second night, which was a Saturday). Access to the bedrooms is round the back of the pub, via a fairly steep set of outside stairs - however, staff did help us to carry our luggage in when requested (we are in our late seventies). Overall, we felt it was over-priced in comparison to other similar country pubs in which we stayed on our trip.

The room was strange shaped and had a small skylight window it felt rather claustrophobic, but thankfully it had a fan. The small shower room was not very clean. Curiously they called this a “suite”. It smelt of dogs which presumable dog owners don’t notice.( I must remember in future to avoid “dog friendly” hotels.). There was very little choice for dinner although menus online and in the room offered much more choices and specials. I recommend that they use a jug for the gravy rather than poor it all over the steak pie and chips.after getting over the poor presentation the pie was quite nice, my wife’s scampi however was over cooked. Having been the only option on the menu that she felt she could order. The bar was quite large and pleasant and apparently has many gins available unfortunately there was only 1 scotch whisky on offer. I understand that there is an Indian restaurant and a fish and chip shop in the village I wish we had tried these.

The staff are friendly and the location is great for exploring the Peak District. The hamlet of Stoney Middleton is tiny but steeped in history and very interesting to have a wander about. The pizzas we had in the pub one night were lovely & the breakfast was nothing special but fine. Unfortunately however, the property does need a good refresh as a lot of the paintwork is scruffy (particularly the outside of the main pub) and some of the carpets are a bit grubby. Also, in our en-suite bathroom, there was insufficient ventilation which meant it was always quite damp & smelly. It is inexpensive for the area which is very much a tourist hotspot in the summer with walkers but with a little bit more attention to detail it could be lovely.

Lovely hotel/pub set in the middle of the Peak District. The room was very clean and modern, with a good selection of toiletries, plus tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were very friendly, (as were the locals)and helpful. A very enjoyable stay.

Great food, comfortable bed, all clean, but £150 for Deluxe room with no windows is too much. You would expect something like this from London area, where is everywhere you got the view just to next wall, but in a Peak District, when you come for view and wake up in the box… it kind of what I was not planning for

Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished, big walk in shower. Friendly staff but could have dressed a bit smarter. On the downside, our room was at front of property and the road is really noisy. As it was so hot, we had to have windows open. Good cooked breakfast to order, average bar snack in the eve.

Beautiful little town. The room is spacious with stunning decor and a lovely, comfortable armchair. That was perfect for me because I wanted to do a bit of creative work. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The hosts are friendly and the pub serves delicious meals - the chef can cook! After checkout I spent a few hours in the pub (still closed) to work. That was very kind indeed.

Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The hosts are friendly and the pub serves delicious meals - the chef can cook! After checkout I spent a few hours in the pub (still closed) to work. That was very kind indeed.

Lovely pub and friendly staff room very large though on the front of the pub so we did get some road noise . Car park is very tight to park when pub is busy and entrance to car park is awkward food is excellent but could do with a steak on the menu . Excellent choice of beers and spirits very pleasant stay . We would stay again .

The only negative is that there is no Uber or taxi service in the area. The buses. There is also no Air conditioning in the room but there is a fan. I would definitely go back because the area is stunning and the rooms were clean and spacious

We loved our stay at the Moon Inn. We had a really friendly welcome and our room was enormous. We had a lovely meal there in the evening and slept well in the super comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were delightful. We will definitely be returning when next in the area.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night at The Moon Inn. We found the whole stay from checking in right through to checking out was fantastic. The room and bathroom, we stayed in was clean, very spacious and lovely decorated. The room was very warm and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was lovely. We would definitely recommend The Moon Inn and would not hesitate to return

Staff were lovely and helpful just not enough of them. Had to wait around to be checked in/served. Room was cold on arrival but didn’t take long to warm up with a he oil heaters provided. Had to request the hairdryer and clean sheets for the bed settee but staff provided them swiftly. Breakfast was great and worth the long wait. Although we appreciated that the breakfast is made fresh it maybe better to cook off some sausages and bacon and keep in the oven as there is a small timeframe to eat breakfast on a Sunday 1.5 hours so the majority were dining at the same time but a lot were frustrated by the wait. Again one member of staff front of house running around doing everything.

The reception to the inn was indifferent, the gentleman just asked if we were staying, along with another couple. No hello have you had a long trip etc? Hang on I’ll get the keys all follow me. The rooms were a little tired and the hallway was somewhat grubby and needs a facelift. The evening meal was good, the breakfast poor, the bacon and sausages were microwaved, with so few rooms and guest these could be grilled or fried imo. All in all below average

This was perfectly adequate in terms of the accommodation, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We do feel, however, that the pub is rather tired and ‘run down’, and would benefit from some investment. The towels were small and thin, the pillows were worn, and the en suite is in need of a few minor repairs. Food was quite good (better on our second night, which was a Saturday). Access to the bedrooms is round the back of the pub, via a fairly steep set of outside stairs - however, staff did help us to carry our luggage in when requested (we are in our late seventies). Overall, we felt it was over-priced in comparison to other similar country pubs in which we stayed on our trip.

A reasonable stay for the price. The rooms are nicely sized with comfy beds and although it is on a busy road, it was quiet overnight. The staff are friendly and the location is great for exploring the Peak District. The hamlet of Stoney Middleton is tiny but steeped in history and very interesting to have a wander about. The pizzas we had in the pub one night were lovely & the breakfast was nothing special but fine. Unfortunately however, the property does need a good refresh as a lot of the paintwork is scruffy (particularly the outside of the main pub) and some of the carpets are a bit grubby. Also, in our en-suite bathroom, there was insufficient ventilation which meant it was always quite damp & smelly. It is inexpensive for the area which is very much a tourist hotspot in the summer with walkers but with a little bit more attention to detail it could be lovely.

This place is a little bit tucked away but definitely worth it. The room was great, the bed was really comfy, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. My only slight complaint would be that the temperature of the shower was a bit unpredictable but not too badly. A friend came to meet me for dinner and commented on how good the food was and how nice the place was. If you've got a car, it's really convenient for Bakewell, Chatsworth and a bunch of hikes in the Peaks.

The Moon has great character, a fascinating history (I'm distantly related to many of the past owners from the 1800s), excellent amenities, and excellent breakfasts. I enjoyed my dinners there, too. Josh and Emma from the staff were both very friendly and helpful to me. The parking is easy, the inn centrally located in the heart of the village, and lots of local characters stop by for a pint and folks from further afield for a meal. A quintessential Derbyshire experience. Not my first time staying there and certainly not my last.

On arrival greeted by a carpark full of empty beer kegs and the exterior of the building was not exactly appealing. Room was adequate but slightly tired and in need of some work, heating was broken with a random electric heater propped up against the sideboard. Had food in the restaurant and the starter was cold, our main courses were lovely but skipped desert as the first two courses took 2 1/2 hours to be served. Staff were very unprofessional, too busy chatting and eating their own dinner rather than being attentive as it took 30 minutes after finishing our main before our plates were removed and offered desert, never asked how the food was and errors were made on multiple customers bills due to lack of care and attention. Breakfast was absolutely miserable, cheap ingredients, no atmosphere and a Continental breakfast that consisted of a kids selection of Kellogg's cereals. To add to that the sauces bottles had dried/congealed sauce on the cap which was very unappetizing.

The team at The Moon were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Gluten Free options available for both evening meal and breakfast. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. The Coach House has plenty of space but the lack of adequate window coverings meant the security lights were bothersome throughout the night. A pleasant stay at the Moon Inn. The Mason and Lennon suites were well maintained, clean and comfortable. We got a good rate and was pleasantly surprised. There is a lovely beer garden, local beers and the menu was varied and good value for money. The staff were helpful and happy. Thank you for a great 24 hour stay.
