We had our 16month old black labrador puppy with us so we asked for a quiet spot to eat. They gave us the snug all to ourselves. The staff couldnt have done more for us and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. The service was excellent, the food was superb. I couldnt recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff are an absolute credit to the business. Thank you.

A wonderful break,perfect for visiting surrounding area. Very dog friendly. Food was fantastic and very well priced.would definitely visit again.only down side ,Couldn't see out of very high window, and quite dark,but for 2 nights didn't mind

Very pleasant stay for 4 nights over NewYear. This is a popular village pub come in and the locals were supper friendly. Food was excellent and the host Emma very accomodating, helpful and chatty.

A very pleasant local country pub with an excellent selection of ales. Excellent breakfast. Evening food was well cooked and good size portions. Menu a bit limited. Perhaps they should think about offering lighter desserts such as Creme Brulee or cheesecake. I can't recommend the Exton room/suite. It's right above the kitchen so you know when the chef has started cooking as the kitchen's extractor fan starts up and is a bit noisy. The sink in the bathroom was the smallest I have come across. On the plus side, a good shower and hot water always available. And for some unknown reason, the cleaner never left us any white sugar so we had to keep asking at the bar. Bar and restaurant staff very helpful and pleasant to talk to.

The staff and the food excellent, the tv and WiFi not working , decor very dated though clean , outside were dead hanging baskets and weeds which was the first impression walking from the car park

Lovely welcome and good food. Room wasn't for me with very low bed and no standing shower probably my fault for not reading if this is in room information. Also the TV was very old and I couldn't get basic channels like ITV or BBC1. Finished with a lovely breakfast, great cooking of the poached eggs.

It's right above the kitchen so you know when the chef has started cooking as the kitchen's extractor fan starts up and is a bit noisy. The sink in the bathroom was the smallest I have come across. On the plus side, a good shower and hot water always available. And for some unknown reason, the cleaner never left us any white sugar so we had to keep asking at the bar. Bar and restaurant staff very helpful and pleasant to talk to.

Room was clean and King Size bed was comfortable. Water pressure in sink was slow until I worked out how to increase it. Full English breakfast was huge and one of the best I have had in any B & B or hotel. Located in a quiet rural village and convenient for Rutland Water.

Great few nights here. Ideal location for working in the area. Had food one night in bar and was really good, breakfast good each morning, staff all very friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and spacious.

A very pleasant local country pub with an excellent selection of ales. Excellent breakfast. Evening food was well cooked and good size portions. Menu a bit limited. Perhaps they should think about offering lighter desserts such as Creme Brulee or cheesecake. I can't recommend the Exton room/suite. We had the Cottesmore bedroom that is situated in the attic. The room had sloping ceilings as you would expect being an attic room. The sloping ceiling created a a very tight bathroom with regards to head height, The handheld shower unit could only be used by sitting in the bath or kneeling over the edge. The bed was king size, my wife found the mattress ok, however I did not, it did not support my weight (12st). The bedroom was showing signs of wear, they were decorating the staircase when we arrived , so they might be in a phase of freshening up throughout the pub. On the day we arrived it had been very hot and so the room was quite warm. The window was open letting in a welcoming breeze. There were a few HGV passing in the night meaning we had to close the window. Early morning traffic started about 5.30am (I was not sleeping well due to the mattress) The evening main meal was very good, they deserts menu had a few missing dishes, also no decaf tea (They did get some for breakfast). Breakfast was very well organised and a large range and size on offer. The bar had two real ale hand pulled beers that were very nice (Timothy Taylors), The bar area was quite small with about 8-10 customers. Ideal place to stay if you are visiting Rutland Water, a five minute drive away or you could walk or cycle there. The landlady and staff were very pleasant ,
