The elevator at the property (three story, with no ground floor rooms) was not operational for most of the stay including the end. The property staff did not seem concerned with the guests and their issues. While I was able to move my items downstairs, I believe that the hotel is out of ADA compliance and the general manager didnt seem to be to concerned.

Clean, friendly staff, good restaurant. Rooms appear to be ready for some long deferred maintenance. Elevator has been out of service for 2 years. Adding a safe to the room would be welcome. Luggage rack was on it’s last legs.

The hotel was exactly what we needed. The elevator was broken but that wasn’t a big problem for us. It might have been for some guests who were also on the third floor.

We love this hotel with the exception that the elevator has been out of service for 2 years! Major advances in technology have been made in less time. The front desk has gotten to the point of being totally non-apologetic about it. I'm sure it hasn't been a whole lot of fun for them but try being a guest carrying multiple suitcases up 3 flights of stairs! don't know why they don't hire students from Swarthmore College as baggage porters.

Stayed in the hotel several days a week over the last 6 weeks. Staff very nice and accommodating. Rooms are large. Beds are comfortable. However, the hotel showing clear signs of wear and tear and can use sprucing up and deep cleaning. Water pressure especially on the second floor is just bad. For unknown reason, the water pressure on the third floor is much better.

We stayed here recently during the Thanksgiving holiday. Staff was kind but not particularly so and definitely not available all the time. The hotel locks its exterior doors at 11pm, if you get back to the hotel after this time, you are at the mercy of the night staff being awake to answer a door bell. In our case they never did answer our multiple presses and we had to have someone else come down and let us in. Cleanliness is just okay. They change the sheets and towels and that’s about it. The room was very dusty and the air filter on the HVAC unit in the room was clogged with dust and hadn’t been changed since early Aug (it is now late Nov). Would I stay here again? Sure. It’s very close to mass transit and a nice downtown area. Will I ever clamor excitedly to others about this place? Probably not.

The room was very quiet and clean. We checked in at 6:15pm and left around 6:30 am, only 1 nite. The elevator didn’t work and we were on the 2nd floor. It was no problem and the woman at the front desk did ask if we would be OK getting to the 2nd floor. We told her we’d be fine. The bathroom was very nice and clean. The towels get an A+. The only complaint about the bathroom was the toilet tissue holder was behind you on the left side so you had to twist and reach back to get the tissue. I would stay again here tho.

A wonderful stay!! The staff are very pleasant, helpful and always had a smile! The room was spacious, well furnished and pretty clean. (A little dusting needed in a couple areas but for the most part clean). The iInns restaurant is beautiful with terrific service and the food was excellent. The area is quiet, but with shopping opportunities within walking distance. I recommend this Inn and will stay there again if the opportunity arises.

This is a great place to stay when visiting the college. Super easy to park your car and leave when you need. It’s a seven minute walk to the admissions office. The fitness room is small but has all of the right equipment and everything works. The walls are a little thin, you can definitely hear hallway chatter and doors closing. But most people staying here are not here to party so everyone’s very respectful. The bathrooms are a little tired looking but well maintained. The property doesn’t have washers and dryers but there’s a small laundromat down the street that’s easy to walk to and has everything you need. Stop by the unassuming co-op across the street for a quick bite or drink while waiting. I loved that the hotel offered local coffee…except when they ran out before I grabbed a cup on my last day.

Overall, the hotel is on beautiful grounds and it’s cleanly with a lovely staff. I had a room with an adjoining door that was closed, but the next room remover was still very clearly audible like I could hear the person snoring at night. It wasn’t a dealbreaker and I would stay here again, but I would find a room with no adjoining door

Stayed in a king size room very large and comfy room. The bed was comfy but on the shorter side my husband whom is 6 foot tall just fit on the bed, if any taller his feet would of dangled off.

Pros: staff friendliness and hospitality, atmosphere, proximity to town and campus. Cons: walls are thin and building is dog friendly, so when other guests’ dogs whine and bark all day/night, staff can’t really do anything to help. Shower’s “modern” design (no curtain or door) = weak water pressure and water goes everywhere. Coffee is pulled every AM so you have to buy it from the restaurant. Overall I would stay again, but would look elsewhere first. Lastly, ask for a room away from the elevators, the dinging and guest noise can be distracting at all times.

Overall this property is dated and needs a lot of TLC. Elevator was a mess, furniture was dated, the mattress was worn out and squeaky, hot water took forever to make it to the shower. Not worth the price point they ask.

Bit of a strange hotel. I didn’t get the room I had booked and the hotel wasn’t very helpful at sorting this out refunding the difference. Rooms have noisy old AC systems and feel a bit like an 80’s Hilton room. Staff are pleasant

The mattress was AWFUL. Terrible nights sleep. Had friends staying In additional rooms, they had the same experience. Woke up sore and exhausted after a long long night of attempting to get comfortable. Everything else was great. The beds are god awful.

The front desk was not friendly or helpful. After check in I was given the wrong room number. The staff was not available and when I finally was able to speak to someone they were irritated with me. It was not my fault that I was given the wrong information.

We stayed here recently during the Thanksgiving holiday. Staff was kind but not particularly so and definitely not available all the time. The hotel locks its exterior doors at 11pm, if you get back to the hotel after this time, you are at the mercy of the night staff being awake to answer a door bell. In our case they never did answer our multiple presses and we had to have someone else come down and let us in. Cleanliness is just okay. They change the sheets and towels and that’s about it. The room was very dusty and the air filter on the HVAC unit in the room was clogged with dust and hadn’t been changed since early Aug (it is now late Nov). Would I stay here again? Sure. It’s very close to mass transit and a nice downtown area. Will I ever clamor excitedly to others about this place? Probably not.

Service in the restaurant was extremely slow. The food was good but it took a long time to receive it and what we ordered was not what we received. My wife’s omelet was made wrong and by the time she received her correct one I was completely done eating. Then it took several minutes after we were finished to get our bill. It was not crowded at the time. Only a few other customers were there.

The Inn is in a prime location which is great! Unfortunately the elevator was out of service. Asking for someone to help me carry my bag up several flights to my room was an inconvenience to the front desk clerk. And further, the front desk personnel were unfriendly at best, rude at worst. The Inn could be wonderful. But the reality is that it is not!

The location is great with stores and dining within walking distance. The staff was friendly and responsive. The inn itself is showing a little wear but is being worked on, e.g., elevator not in use but is being upgraded. Overall, a great place to stay and we will continue to return here when we stay in the area.

Safe area, nice small town feel. For us from the uk it was easy parking great room and the train was 2 mins away. Trains into Philly every hour straight to centre no change. Day in the city then train back. Felt safe, easier than expected. Made the right choice👍 local bar & the hotel bar 🍷🍷

Beautiful inn, tasty dinner, easy access to parking, helpful staff, and ideal proximity to both town and campus. Perfect spot for our campus tour w. our high schooler. Light rail right next door and a co-op for quick groceries a block away.

Driving down from N.H. the Inn was easy to locate and convenient for our visit. The room was good size and fairly quiet. The hotel staff was polite and very friendly. On our first night we ate in the Inn's restaurant, this was a one time event. I ordered a steak which was advertised a 16 oz. - lucky if it was 8 oz and quite tough. Ordered a $9:00 glass of wine and was charged $15:00 and the service was lacking.

The room was lovely, bright and cheery with lovely art on the walls. there was plenty of counter space, and we had ample room for 3 of us in our 2-queen room. The bathroom was very nice with a lovely walk-in shower. The elevator was broken while we were there, and taking the stairs to the second floor with luggage was not fun. I'm assuming this is temporary. We ate breakfast in the morning at the hotel's restaurant and the food was great.

I do not like to stay at chain hotels, so finding the Inn a Swarthmore was exactly what I was looking for. Lobby was welcoming . The restaurant was lovely with a fireplace. Food and drink were very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

I was disappointed with my stay at the Inn at Swarthmore. While the staff was courteous, the condition of my room fell well below my expectations. The bathroom had a persistent sour odor that resembled urine, making it feel as though it had not been properly cleaned before my arrival. The shower floor appeared to have black mold or significant t mildew buildup, which was both unsanitary and concerning. A clean, well-maintained rd room is one of the most basic expectations when staying at the Inn, and unfortunately, this room did not meet that standard. I hope management addresses these maintenance and housekeeping issues so other guests have a much better experience.

An uplifting, inviting, & beautiful experience awaited us from check-in to check-out a few days later. In every way, our travel experience was superior to previous trips to visit our son, who lives in Media. Hyatt & Hilton are "OK," but not personal and certainly not exquisite. The Inn at Swarthmore is not only attentive & comfortable, it is also beautifully designed, filled with original art from former students, and surrounded by the gorgeous campus which features a variety of native & exotic plant species. It includes the Scott Arboretum, complete with walking paths and stunning gardens open to the public. The food at every meal was excellent - fresh, made to order, and reasonably priced. We loved having breakfast on the shaded patio, overlooking garden plots filled with lettuces and herbs for meals at The Broad Table Tavern. Service was friendly & professional. Across the street, the local community is small, perfect for strolling. And it's easy to get where you are going by car or nearby train. NO question about it - we have found our home when visiting Media. We are already looking forward to the beauty, comfort, food, and service the Inn and surroundings offer.
