Good staff great location hotel could do with some money spending on it looking a bit run down

Hotel seemed "abandonned" upon our arrival and once we entered the room that was even more obvious. Room looked nothing like the pictures online,pretty basic and old. Not the cleanest as there were marks on the walls, spiderwebs,dust and crumbs on the floor and toilet was definately dont cleaned. Breakfast was poor ,dinner even poorer that was bearable by the very friendly staff who werw trying their best considering the circumstances. Bar had 3-4 table games (pool table,darts,table tennis etc) that were seemingly worn off and not maintained properly even tho needed £1/game for a pool game. Overall a hotel that surprised me its still open as its obvious noone -apart from the staff-tries for it.

Was surprised to find such a great choice of games...Pool. ping pong darts ice hockey...at the bar area...great for spending an evening byb the bar!

1940s hotel vibe. A little outdated in areas but comfortable stay overall for the price.

Property setting very neat and tidy. Kitchen and waiters excellent. While we were there , there were two coaches of people all eating breakfast at the same time. The staff worked fast to replenish anything that was missing. Buiiding was a little dated (1980s), but on the whole we were satisfied.

A pleasant surprise. We had a comfortable renovated room, the pizza was excellent and the huge huge lounge with free ping pong and pool and other games was an unexpected treat. One comment for ownership and management - your staff is remarkably good - please reward them adequately for their hard work. Without them you would not have such a nice hotel.

We stayed here to do some walking on the WHW. Our room was very spacious and clean, it was cleaned every day and coffee and milk etc was replenished each day. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The bar area was a little outdated but still fine for a drink after a long days walking. What really stood out was the lovely staff, they were all so friendly and happy to help. We would definitely stay here again.

Cobwebs on the curtains, mould on bathroom ceiling, toilet didn’t flush so had to keep filling the cistern manually with water and mattress was very old and uncomfortable. Didn’t enjoy the stay at all. The room hadn’t been decorated since the 1980’s.

Hair all over bed and in bathroom in the shower on the wall and round the toilet. Bed was super uncomfy, the “bottled” still water was tap water. Under average for quality, cannot complain about the price it shows in the facilities and condition.

Lovely spacious rooms. Very clean. Staff were lovely. An all round decent stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The decor is dated but we loved the unique other worldly charm. Please don’t change! The staff were lovely, the bed was comfy and bathroom was very clean with an amazing shower. I’d definitely stay again

The hotel was tired and showing its age - threadbare carpet in room . Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Leak in bathroom behind toilet. Evening food was poor - lasagna was terrible and lukewarm. Fish was overcooked, mushy peas were cold. Staff were helpful and apologetic. Breakfast had good choice and you are able to help your self.

Ok here we go! 1. Room was smelt of damp and mould ! 2. Room and toilet area was first with red bacteria from water taps and hairs in bath sink and bed! 3. The shower gels and soaps were dirty with used dried shampoo and shower gel on them! 4. The noise room doors are not noise proof and you can hear every movement in the corridor outside ! 5. The restaurant is a total and utter disgrace, cold bacon, cold beans, cold sausages and cold black pudding ! 6. The staff look dirty and the uniforms are not presentable or acceptable ! 7. NO FIRE EMERGENCY PLAN IN ROOM ALARMING!! Absolute embarrassment I will never ever stay at a MGM hotel again especially this dump!

Clean room, helpful staff.

First of all the Non Refundable Rule should be carefully looked at. We checked in and went to our room but first there was only one lift working and there was a bus load of tourists (Totally entitled to enjoy their holiday). The room had a large line of dust from behind the tv and all along the back of the unit. We were told not to open the window because of Midges. We booked a double bed room but had two single beds and when going to check out after being there for only half an hour there was staff moving beds and bases into rooms with no carpets and the strong smell of paint and the tourists were told that that was their rooms. We are definitely not snobs but we have stayed in all types of accommodation and this has to be the worst experience of looking to enjoy the four nights we booked

Nice atmosphere. Staff friendly. Problems: mattresses very hard. Tub hot water gets stuck on because the heat makes the fixture expand. Learned to cool it with cold water from the sink to be able to turn it off.

Long time since the hotel has seen any restoration. Hasn't been brought up to date in a long time.

Our stay met our needs. The room was comfortable and spacious.

The curtains were old and falling apart. I had to use the blanket at end of bed to use.

My room was noisy when moving the chairs in the restaurant at night I think or whatever part of the dining room was above me. Also delivery truck noisy early in morning. Nice room but wouldn’t give to someone who asks for a quiet stay.

After a day of traversing the scottish highlands, I was more then ready to plop into bed for a good nights sleep. Well that did not happen, the room was hot, no fan and couldn't get the bathroom fan to work, had to get tge front desk clerk to show me a hidden switch that was close to rhe ceiling and behind tge bathroom door. This switch turned the fan on. So now it was time to uoack and i started noticing spiderwebs on all the wall ligh fixtures, that was fine as they woukd catch the little moths that were flying around the room. Now back to rhe bed, I ploped my 236 pound body on the mattress expecting a cloud of comfort, instead I felt my spine slam into my head. The mattress was sitting ontop of a board, not a boxspring, but a board hidden like a box spring. The next morning the room servuce crew were doing their thing, but what I noticed most was them smell of bidy odor permeating the entire hallway, it was the cleaning crew. The restaurant was decent and the food was limited, a bowl of ice-cream was actually ice-cream that melted and frozen again producing ice inside instead of cream. However, eeryone working there were very nice and professional, to bad the place isn't.

The hotel looked very nice ans clean as well as the rooms. However the room we were given was right below the bar and restaurant. Which meant the constant banging and moving of funiture and general loud noise. It went on until 1am and re started again at 5am. We were situated on 2nd floor. Its a nice hotel and room but we really did not sleep all night due to the constant banging noise.

Rooms are a bit dated but I really like this hotel staff all great and helpful and rooms clean and comfy

4 of us had an amazing 6 days and ate every night at the hotel. The food was excellent and the service and friendliness of all the staff was exceptional. It was as if we were staying with family. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable we will be back. Thank you

Room was ok, a bit dated. Bathroom was small but at least it had a bath. Check in was extremely slow. Breakfast was below average. Wouldn't stay here again

Staff at the hotel were very good - two young women were outstanding, the receptionist and the young woman managing the restaurant. Their capacity for work was impressive. Had a good meal at the restaurant and had a gluten allergy catered for.

Hotel is located in a great place to explore Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Ben Nevis area. However the hotel itself is way past it's prime and in great need of renovations and touch ups of general areas and rooms.

Very dated but it was part of its charm and originality. Close walk to the restaurants and great view.

The hotel served our needs well as trekkers well, with an early breakfast, good location for car journey to mountains. The property is a bit run down and needs a lot of investment. Fan in our bathroom did not work nor did the towel rail (or perhaps it was just us not being able to dind the right buttons). Staff were very good, and the owners should count themselves lucky that they have such charming people.

Because we had a bad experience at the restaurant outside the hotel (the only one working in one-hour driving area) we chose to dine at the hotel. They told us that the chef was alone that night (Saturday) and could take up to one hour to eat something (7:30PM). We had no choice and asked for veggie burgers, but they didn’t have any (again, on Saturday night with tons of tourists around). We ended up eating fries for dinner. To excuse, the staff arranged a small snack before our departure the next day. It was really kind of them but this doesn’t cover the lack of organization for such an important hotel.

This hotel is a bit drab but the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was not that great (although coffee was good). Sliced bread, canned fruit, average sliced cheese and salami, etc. Staff did not clean tables between parties, so we had to sit at a messy table. We were not allowed to take a cut of coffee to our room. Bartender and front desk staff were very friendly.

Great deep bath and plenty hot water Dining buffet was a set price - no flexibility for those wishing to take less than 3 courses Ran out of eggs at breakfast buffet and lack of staffing meant we had to wait which follows that our food became cold so we ended up going elsewhere for brekkie

I enjoyed my stay and the staff were excellent, always willing to help and very friendly. My main complaint was the food, breakfast was good but barely warm and the plates were stone cold which only made worse. We had two evening meals, one was a buffet which was awful, the fish was smelly and the chicken tasteless. Our second meal was the steak night, the veg' was nice but the steak very tough. We ate elsewhere 5 of our 7 day stay.

Breakfast was cold and poor, had to move room (ie to not nice room) but this was not a problem for staff however on check out had to point out bare wires on electric towel radiator (due to broken cover) Had fish and chips in the evening would highly recommend
