We were here for just one night. The exterior is absolutely beautiful. It goes without saying you are very limited in a listed building, however the rooms were clean and fresh. The bed was huge and so comfortable and warm. The shower was small but hot had water . The room was warm throughout the night. We also had drinks and a meal in the bar down below. The bar staff were friendly aswell as the locals .Also the food was delicious , the belly pork jyst melts in your mouth and my husband says hhe homemade pie was bursting with meat. Included was breakfast which was served next to a roaring log / coal fire, again fantastic full English breakfast and the service was great. We would definitely stay again.

What a lovely old fashioned inn and set in such a beautiful part of the UK, and not a stones thrown from stunning Castleton. It's important to remember that the accommodation will primarily be used by walkers. It's also important to state that this is an old inn, so the floors in the rooms are a little topsy turvie. But to me, it just added character to the accommodation. The room was warm and welcoming. The chocolate biscuits - Breakaway and Blueriben add a little nostalgia to our stay. The bed was big and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and hot. We ate in the inn both nights and the meals were excellent, with a good selection of hand pulled ales. We booked a table for both nights, which proved a good move as the inn did get busy from very early evening. There is limited car parking opposite the inn, which comprises of around 5 spaces. It's a matter of first come, first served as these are also used by pub goers - not just accommodation guests. Take my advice, if you can't get parked in one of these spaces, then park your car down the road, nearer the main road / around the butcher's shop which is a 3 or 4 minute walk. The pub is on a narrow lane and lighting isn't good.

What a lovely cosy, friendly place to stay. A good choioce for breakfast (full English was delicious using local ingredients) in the dining area with the log fire on. The staff are so nice and really make you feel welcome. Plenty of free parking outside accomodation and lots of walks nearby. Thankyou for an enjoyable weekend break.

We’ve just had a lovely weekend in this quaint old pub situated in a quiet part of Hope. We had a very warm welcome, all the staff were very friendly and the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent with lots of food options. Our room was cosy and very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed staying at this traditional inn and meeting the lovely people who run it. It felt like such a genuine, honest, real place - somewhere we could relax and breathe easily, in contrast to the massive chain hotel we had just been staying in in Liverpool, where sheer numbers of guests led inevitably to a dehumanized, mass-produced feel. Here we were real people in a real place eating real food and sleeping in a real room with character and personality. The towels were folded into the shape of swans, the bed was so soft, there was a warm private bathroom with a separate shower and bath, all beautifully clean. From our window we could see the river and the high hills, we could watch the rain sweeping across the landscape and the sun rising clear above the billowing clouds. The walk from the station took us past quietly grazing sheep and banks of sunlit yellow daffodils. We are grateful and very happy to have had such a restorative time here. Thank you to everyone, and long may it continue.

Just had a lovely two nights here and will definitely be back. Food was great with a good choice menu and the breakfast was amazing! Staff were lovely and friendly and you could really feel that this was a happy ship! Rooms lovely and clean too Thank you to all and hope to see you again soon

Had a great weekend away here. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and good value and the breakfast was great too. Only 2 minor points, the room was a bit dusty in places and could do with a bit of a freshen up bith minor, but the biggest problem was the electric shower which seemed to have a mind of its own the flow and temperature constantly changing which was very frustrating. Overall we had a great stay and would stay here again.

Breakfast was fantastic - fresh fruit and lovely cooked breakfast. Staff were lovely. On the downside - the mattress was so soft it sunk straight down to the divan below; also the bathroom needed a dust and clean (skirtings/doors etc)

It was a friendly place to stay with extremely good food especially the breakfasts. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities excellent. It was in a lovely village, with pleasant people in the coffee shops, and a nice walk near the church with a river and horses in a field. only a few minutes away from Castleton too.

The staff and owners of the pub were amazing and couldn’t do enough to make our stay good. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The pub is situated in a small village and there is road noise but it’s quiet at night. It’s an incredibly old building so obviously not going to be modern and sparkling new. A nice stay

It was a lovely stay. The room was amazing. Very roomy and nice and warm as it was a very cold weekend. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was good. The breakfasts was so good.

The pub staff were very welcoming,the breakfasts were generous portions and very well cooked.we ate on both evenings and again the meals were very good. The owner who I think was called Laura was extremely helpful with local knowledge about the walking routes that are available and she even let us borrow a map. The area is beautiful and a walkers paradise. We will return to this Inn.

Just had a lovely two nights here and will definitely be back. Food was great with a good choice menu and the breakfast was amazing! Staff were lovely and friendly and you could really feel that this was a happy ship! Rooms lovely and clean too Thank you to all and hope to see you again soon

Very enjoyable stay at The Cheshire Cheese Inn, staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the evening meal and the food quality was excellent and the service great. Nothing was too much trouble and the team chatted to us throughout the evening. Breakfast the following morning was top notch (my particular favourites being the sausage and bacon). What a lovely cosy, friendly place to stay. A good choioce for breakfast (full English was delicious using local ingredients) in the dining area with the log fire on. The staff are so nice and really make you feel welcome. Plenty of free parking outside accomodation and lots of walks nearby. Thankyou for an enjoyable weekend break.

It was amazing, the staff were really helpful, the breakfast was a showstopper every morning. I loved our stay. Right near by everything you need: a babbling brook, a lively local village, and Loose Hill.

We’ve just had a lovely weekend in this quaint old pub situated in a quiet part of Hope. We had a very warm welcome, all the staff were very friendly and the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent with lots of food options. Our room was cosy and very clean and comfortable. Ideally situated for walking and exploring the local area. Thanks to all for a fabulous weekend x

It was a friendly place to stay with extremely good food especially the breakfasts. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities excellent. It was in a lovely village, with pleasant people in the coffee shops, and a nice walk near the church with a river and horses in a field. only a few minutes away from Castleton too.

We were here for just one night. The exterior is absolutely beautiful. It goes without saying you are very limited in a listed building, however the rooms were clean and fresh. The bed was huge and so comfortable and warm. The shower was small but hot had water . The room was warm throughout the night. We also had drinks and a meal in the bar down below. The bar staff were friendly aswell as the locals .Also the food was delicious , the belly pork jyst melts in your mouth and my husband says hhe homemade pie was bursting with meat. Included was breakfast which was served next to a roaring log / coal fire, again fantastic full English breakfast and the service was great. We would definitely stay again.

We had a great weekend at the Cheshire Cheese, the bed was clean and comfy and the bathroom was spacious with clean crisp towels that were of ample size. Tbh, the room could do with a deep clean as there was a fair bit of dust visible behind cupboards etc . The decor is a bit dated, but its great value for money . The staff are friendly and helpful, the food and beer is great and good value Oh and the breakfast is fantastic We've stopped here before, and we'll be back again. It's a great pub

What a lovely little pub. Ideal for walkers, runners, cyclists etc. Very friendly staff. We had a very good evening meal on arrival day and breakfasts are superb. All food is freshly cooked to order. We shall definitely return and take our walking boots with us next time.

Staff were excellent. Very helpful. Food good. However, our room, No.3, was shabby, to say the least. Definitely not value for the price. Mould in the shower. Peeling wallpaper. Toilet window unable to open. Dirty carpet. Burnt arm on heated towel rail when bent down to retrieve towel from floor. No warning notice. Double wall socket peeling from wall. Dirty TV remote held together by sellotape. Small TV with poor sound. Photos support my assertions.
