Motel 6 Columbia, SC - Fort Jackson Area

Mattress was terrible, I think it may have previously belonged to a sumo wrestler who used it for 10 years straight, sleeping in the same spot every night. A cash-only deposit policy is straight-up silly in 2025. Everything else was fine.

Bathroom toilet kept running all night and the picture of hotel room was far from what it really looked like. Elevator was out of order, rugs were dirty thru out the building. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed and and will never use this hotel again

The property is attempting to upgrade, renovate and rebrand themselves. On the second floor, had to use stairs as the elevator was out of order. A $20 cash deposit at check-in (could not use credit card). Required to use an ATM. There was unpleasant odor with the lobby and hallways. I was just disappointed with this property.

NEVER seen anything like it. Young lady at front desk wouldn’t check anyone in until 3:00pm-had 11 people waiting. Then at 2:59pm, she LEAVES the front desk, doesn’t reappear until 3:15pm, THEN spends the next 20minutes answering the phone!!!! The worst shower water pressure I have ever experienced!! Elevator in desperate need of service-extremely slow, and sounds like it’s about to fall apart.

Roaches all over counted 15 dead on the floor and 6 alive on the walls when we got up in the morning. The whole place reeks of pot and wet dog. The elevator has been broken for a month, according to the sign on the elevator. A big sign outside WiFi, there was no WiFi. The only good thing was the AC. Oh, one more thing, when we checked, they demanded a $20 cash-only deposit. That was not posted on Hotels.com

This motel leaves a lot to be desired. Smelled like weed and there was a dog barking all night. The tv screen had broken pixels all down the middle. Fire alarm battery was low and beeped all night in the hallway. The stairwell smelled rancid. The first floor was flooding between 4 rooms and no hazard signs. Elevator didn’t work & pool was closed in July.

Advertisement has a pool. No pool. Did not stay.

Elevator not working “for a long minute” per male front desk attendant who checked me in. Serious ADA complaint! Door not locked to stairway you have to WALK UP to your room, do not come here if you have a disability Pool closed in July with weeds growing out of pool cover at steps. Don’t know what Motel 6 you copied pictures from, but they certainly are not of this place. My receipt said I had to pay $2 fee, but front desk guy told me I had to pay $20 cash deposit. What hotel makes you pay that! The bed sounds like bed springs from the the 80s. My room selection said a queen bed, it’s a double. Seriously, the only hotel I didn’t want to take a shower in my bare feet and not until I left. The male front desk attendant, don’t know who or how he was trained tried to get me to pay again! I told him I had already paid, but it took him quite awhile before he was able to see my reservation. I finally got to my room, rust on light fixtures. Horrible squeaky bed. No way to adjust cold in the room, thermostat wasn’t even visible. I had to sleep with my jacket on zipped up it was so cold in the room. Toilet was clogged after 1st use - wouldn’t even flush. Nothing to stop it up! This is located near Ft. Jackson, so don’t know if it is a 1 hr motel or what or tourist TRAP. A frickin joke!!! My review is so long, it won’t let me type anymore. DO NOT STAY HERE!

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in for several reasons. First of all I booked my room online through expedia and when I got to the hotel they gave me a different room then what I booked but I was like that’s fine it’s no big deal. But when I got to my room the floors where filthy there was a roach leg and a roach on the floor and from everywhere. The bed sheets were dirty and smelled awful. The elevator needs to be inspected. It is just a very raggedy place to stay don’t recommend.

The place was disgusting and smelled realy bad. Front desk lady was very nice. But my room i booked was given away so we got a 3rd floor room and the elevator was broken, hair in the ice bucket, hair all over the bed, urine stains on the bed, floors were nasty.

No refrigerator in the room. The curtains are not even hung properly. The bathroom was clean and I slept fine. The elevator smell like urine. The carpet on floor two smells bad and needs to be cleaned properly.

The rooms were horrible!!!! They had a mildew and mold smell to them!!!! Notice once on there website did it say that they were also a weekly rooming house!!!!! The elevator was broken which we did not know and also wasn’t told at check in!!!! One of the rooms we booked had bed bugs and the other had no shower curtain!!!!! I would not recommend booking this place!!!!

This place is not acceptable. Dangerous and noisy. Roaches and dirty.

This place was absolutely disgusting. The photos are not a true representation. This place was roach infested. There were random people outside smoking at the entrance. the hallways were so dirty and full of trash and debris. Paint was flaking off the wall. Little kids were hanging out the windows. It wasn’t safe at all. The toilet and shower we’re dirty also. A hot mess. Don’t come to this place. It is raunchy and run down. Just nasty.

I did not like the roaches. I received a new room. I went and brought spray and sprayed the new room myself before cutting my stay in half and not recouping any of my money. I was too afraid of taking these bugs home in my things. I saw 5 bugs all together and that was enough for me. This place is nasty. Be afraid be very afraid.

Roaches everywhere. Bathroom was not clean. There was hair in the tub and a huge wad of hair in the drain. Baseboard moulding held together with duct tape. The toilet wasn’t clean either. No water pressure in the shower. No amenities at all. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The only reason I stayed was because I arrived at 12:30 pm. I checked out at 5:30 am. Couldn’t sleep because I was so grossed out.

I reserved a refrigerator and microwave room and didn't get neither

Room was basic. No fridge, no microwave. Staff will heat and food up in their microwave if needed. Staff was the best part of my stay. Everyone was great. Thank you, to them all. Kinda noisy from outside my room. It wasn't unbearable, but, still noisy.

Shower was broken and onky bars of soap for inside shower and handwash. Other than that staff was friendly!

Big water bugs in the room shower looked like the bottom was about to fall out bed smelled like urine most uncomfortable bed i have ever had to sleep on no toilet seat cover someones else's hair all over the room no microwave no fridge can hear everything thought the walls kids running and everything in the hall way as well loved the ac tho 😅

Room full of cockroaches, bed with no mattress, only coils(metal spring) i can feel it. Not worthy. Can’t sleep.

Staff not at desk at check in and not courteous. Room smelled damp and musty. Refuses not work and freezer had a puddle of water. No shower curtain. Towels were very damp. Called number posted in lobby but the lady claimed not to know Motel 6 after putting me on extended hold twice. Called M6 service line and was treated very professionally. Formal complaint filed and one night refund expected. Promise to switch rooms for my 2nd night. When I returned Fri. afternoon to switch rooms, the General Manager was not friendly or courteous. when I got my belongings from the original room, the refrigerator was gone but there were 2 puddles of water on the floor. New room was much better but w/o a refrigerator. I got very little sleep that night though due to other guests being very loud inside and outside. Dogs barked and kids screamed. All this noise continued most of the night.

Shower floor was patched and unclean. Toilet was clogged and front desk person just gave a plunger which did nothing to help it. Pillow cases were stained. Bed is terribly uncomfortable and can hear springs creaking with every movement. Front desk person was kind of rude and entitled at check in.

Took an hour to check in. Claimed they had no rooms.

They were overbooked so we didn't get a chance to stay there. We tried to cancel the reservation but the time to cancel had passed. The staff there were amazing and friendly. Somewhere along the pipeline someone dropped the ball. There was a line of people outside trying to check-in after 3pm. What a shame.

Staff are very rude . Was told to leave and not to return for asking for a new room when door wouldnt close fully and not given enough towels for all persons booked in reservation

First arrived with the room key not working. Master key did not work. The representative did not try to solve the problem. All he want to do was give me my money back and send me and my daughter on our way. We had asked him if he had 2 single rooms. After awhile he was able to locate a 2 bed room that was available. What he wanted to do was refund our money and send us on our way. I asked "where do we go at 1130PM in the night. The property was not clean and the garbage can was full, no place to place garbage. No garbage cans in the room, The property is in the process or being rentevided Our stay was unsatisfactory.

The staff is always amazing especially the front desk!! Ms. Sheba and Ms. Serenity have made my stay really pleasant and i fully appreciate it

When I arrived at the hotel to check in, I was told that my two rooms that I had reserved, and already paid for, for an out of state family trip, were no longer available and that they had no rooms left. While i was standing off to the side of the front desk trying to contact Hotels.com, whom I had made the reservations through, another customer had come in and asked about a room for the night, he did not have a reservation. She was magically able to find a room for him. When he was done checking in, I asked her how she had a room for him if there were none left, and she told me that the room didn't have a TV. I didn't care if the room had a TV or not, we just needed somewhere to sleep for the night. I was beyond angry. She made no effort at all to help us, or show any concern at all for the fact that they had given our rooms to someone else. I will never make a reservation or stay at a Motel 6 again.

I was poorly treated by staff. They sent me to a room that was occupied. The hotel smelled like pets and smoke. Barking dogs all through the halls. Water pressure in shower was unusable. No garbage can in bathroom. Television was too dark to see and couldn’t be adjusted. Very unsafe outside. Had to go to an atm off site to pay their $20 CASH ONLY deposit after room was already paid for. Horrible and scary experience and would not recommend. Too intimidated by the staff to complain.

The staff are very friendly and attentive. My room was clean and housekeeping came every day. The property felt safe. And for once the room had no weird smell like most hotels.

The front desk staff is always amazing especially Serenity who makes sure everything is right and I truly appreciate that

We booked the hotel four days in advance and showed up to the hotel and the receptionist advised us that they had cancelled our stay and said she didn’t know why no one called us. It was 11:30 at night and we had no where to stay and was 4 hours from home. They were rude and completely unsympathetic

The location is walking distance to a large variety of dining options. Large parking lot, well maintained property and clean quiet rooms.

The internet photos do not reflect the hotel whatsoever! We reserved 3 rooms for one night, and the dirtiness if the rooms and the unsafe area forced us to leave without ever staying that one night. Bugs were in all three rooms, water running down walls and ceiling falling down in two rooms, bathroom lights out in two rooms, dirty socks left under bathroom sink, all 3 rooms wreaked with cigarette smoke, what appeared to be prostitution and drug addicts roamed the property. The front desk solo attendant was kind but absent from desk most of the time due to helping resolve problems in other rooms. Several rooms appeared to be residency for low income families. An ambulance had to be called for what seemed to be a drug issue. The dirtiness of this hotel should be investigated by the county health department! Hotel.com has tried to secure a full refund from this hotel, but their attempts continue with refusal from Hotel 6. Today, I filed a complaint with Hotel 6 Customer Service. We stayed at a Hotel 6 in Texas, and it represented itself well, so this Hotel 6 in Columbia, SC doesn’t reflect all hotels in this chain. Hotel.com has been a good advocate, even with persistent resistance from this particular hotel.

Stay was nice but a bit noisy. Sketchy area Police always in the parking lot but overall not bad

The Motel was close to my destination, only 7 minutes away. We were surprised to learn about a 20.00 deposit for a trash room fee, didn't know about it until we arrived; luckily I had some cash on me. It was noisy at night, kids playing in the hall way, doors being slammed very loudly. The room was clean and I got the room that I asked for. Will stay here again if I need to.

Hotel is somewhat awkward in its location. Right on interstate 20 but no exit at the hotel itself.it is necessary to make several turns to get to it.

This hotel is in a hidden area of a dangerous part of Columbia. The staff was rude. Utimately my reservation was cancelled because they did not have a vacancy

This is the hood. If you have kids trust me pay the extra money and look for a good area. This is a bad area.

Cold rooms, no microwaves or fridge. Dirty floors and walkway. Lots of suspicious activity in parking lot but convenient to food options and gas station. Good only if it’s a last minute resort but not worth the stay.

Hospitality didn’t exist. Had to pay for room plus $20 cash only fee. Ceiling had mold. Shower barely worked plus moldy show curtain. Would never stay there again. Not a safe area.

Couldn't get coffee at 5:30 am or coffee pot in room. Towels were dyed blue. Which would come out as you were using a wash cloth or towel.Requested white towels for that reason was told no.
