Ambrose Hotel

Charming and cozy retreat especially while my husband was in the hospital. Only 4 blocks away. Comfortable and quiet has a lovely residential craftsman style appeal. Low calm lighting, noise quieting machine, free filtered water in glass…my favorite. Great coffee in the morning. Right across the street from Tartine and lovely bakery. Only complaints, my room 209 has a leaky shower… so wet slippery floor every shower. Also if they could replenish the half and half more it had run out 2 of my 4 mornings. Lovely staff , secure parking and charging for electric vehicles. Lovely patio and side yard with an outdoor fireplace. You do need to request housekeeping so keep that in mind.

Rough towels. Very thin blanket. Large hard pillows. Disappointing breakfast. Hot water for tea often unavailable. Coffee was available. Staff was responsive and helpful.

Hôtel sympa et plutôt bien placé. Parking sécurisé en sous sol mais assez cher (45€/jour).

I walked away impressed with my stay at The Ambrose. The complimentary coffee service each morning was a highlight, as it was actually good coffee. Breakfast menu is intentionally small, but everything on it is good. Little things stood out too. Pitchers of water in the room and water stations on every floor. Simple, thoughtful, and you’d be surprised how few places bother. Parking was easy, which is especially necessary in LA. Room was clean and comfortable. No drama. Bed was good, space felt taken care of. Exactly what you want after a long day. Staff was very polite and accommodating from the food service to the front desk. I had forgotten clothes in the closet and called the hotel but they had already folded and had them ready for me as soon as I called. The Ambrose gets the details right, and that’s what makes the difference.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
