Lovely grounds and a beautiful building. A bit spaced out like a Vegas hotel experience. The spa, pool and gym were very good. But the wellness center is hard to find unless you go outside the building. We spent six nights here and issues at every breakfast. One time they ran out of teaspoons and took nearly 10 minutes to get us one. Another time they were out of plates. Several times they brought other peoples’ hot food to our table. We had one dinner and that didn’t go smoothly either. Took fifteen minutes to get a glass of prosecco. Waiters at one point getting angry with each other in French close to our table. And, when our chowder that we were sharing arrived it came without spoons. We shared a hamburger and that arrived uncut and without any cutlery. Also, the phone in the room didn’t work. I mentioned this to reception and they said maintenance would handle the next morning. They did not and I had to follow up. Overall, very disappointing for a hotel of this class.

Beautiful hotel, we were there for NYE, food was excellent however, the bar was understaffed and there were no chairs for people to sit after dinner, no staff seem to have the common sense to get chairs for people v odd was there was lots of space for them, a v expensive night away to have no seat seems unbelievable really. There were only a few family tables and a few stools at the bar, they really need to prepare based on number of bookings. The bar manager was v nice & he was severely under pressure with guests complaining, very unfair on the staff.

The hotel was beautiful! The staff, especially Brian at the front door and Sinead at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming! Massage, biking, and restaurants were good. Only issues were with the pool and jacuzzi area. Found used bandaids on the side of the pool. Around the jacuzzi it was slightly flooded with standing water that flowed into the sauna. Needed to be drained and cleaned better. Otherwise wonderful hotel.

Spectacular grounds, nicest and friendliest staff (reception/ grounds/ restaurants) and comfortable rooms. Indoor pool is brilliant, although SPA access is quite confusing. Check-in was fast, but unfortunately room wasn’t ready at designated check-in time (3pm), so we had to wait another 1h30 to have access, change, access pool with a kid, a bit disappointing for a 5 star hotel.

Everything was brilliant, great food, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The pool and spa are fabulous too. Plenty to do, unfortunately I didn’t get the chance this time but I’ve played golf there before and both courses are excellent. All common areas and the rooms are spotlessly clean. The room were a good size with comfy beds. The hotel had made a real effort putting things on for the kids at Halloween. Will definitely be back.

The Carton house is about 45 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from Dublin. The grounds are lovely. The walk to Town is about 30 minutes and well worth it as there are other historical sites to visit in the town. The interior of the Carton house is modern but historical features remain throughout. Make sure you make dinner reservations well before you get there as the restaurants on property fill up quickly. The activities should also be booked well in advance. Many we wished to do were already booked out. We wanted to do the falcon lessons and whiskey tasting but they were not available. The horseback riding was quite fun and about 20 minutes away by taxi.

Beautiful property with amazing grounds. Food is fantastic as is the service. Take advantage of the on-site bikes, a great area to ride. Also, we did horseback riding and archery set up by the hotel and they were the highlights of our stay.

Our stay at Carton House was, unfortunately, far from what we expected. I caught COVID during the trip, and the extreme dryness of the room made everything dramatically worse — every swallow felt like swallowing crushed glass. Even after turning off the air system, the noise from neighbouring rooms kept coming through the walls. The dustpan and brush in the room were broken and frankly disgusting to use, especially around the bathroom. Breakfast was excessively expensive, and our first room (225) smelled like something was burning. When I asked at reception to change rooms, the young woman told me she couldn’t offer anything better because we were staying “too many nights” — seven nights, apparently, was too long to deserve an upgrade. My wife was five months pregnant at the time. Another staff member had to come to inspect the room. Thankfully, the man who eventually came — Philippe — was extremely kind, professional and helpful. He arranged a much better room for us (256), larger, more comfortable, with more storage and even two complimentary drinks. He also helped with the luggage. He did everything the receptionist refused to do, and I still don’t understand why. Even in the new room, a microwave was missing, and it wasn’t possible to open even a small window to get fresh air. The shower was tiny and had no handheld shower head, making it difficult to wash properly. The front desk girl was rather cold, and overall the reception team lacked empathy and warmth.

The hotel setting is beautiful and food and beverage offerings were outstanding. I was rather disappointed by the upkeep of the very very expensive so called 5 star rooms. I was shocked by the lack of attention to detail in a 5 star hotel charging so much! Maintenance in the room was lacking. Dirty carpet, leather on bed frame badly scratched and worn. Wet marks on the ceiling, paintwork on walls tatty in places. Bathroom was underwhelming with cheap tiles and some even broken. Poor shower, it was tiny and something like we had in the 1980’s. Grouting was grubby and toilet brush holder was not only dusty but had something like faeces on it. Shocking…

We loved our entire experience at Carton House. The food was amazing, the room was impeccably clean, the scenery was incredibly beautiful, and my husband loved the golf! We had a picnic on the grounds which was a highlight. The staff was all very friendly and made consistent effort to help us out when we had inquiries. We brought out 10 month old baby with us and were able to take her for walks around the grounds and bring her to all the restaurants without feeling like she was a burden, thanks to the staff's warmth. We brought her to the pool during kid hours too! We felt especially well taken care of my Emma who was one of the managers at the Carriage House. Additionally, the spa was beautiful and extremely relaxing. The only issue we had throughout our experience was difficulty with getting the phone answered at Guest Services, but when we brought it up everyone was really helpful and understanding.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. Room was extremely hot. No air conditioning. When you pay over $400.00 for a room it should be comfortable. We had to speak to the front desk twice about this. They sent up a fan. We slept with the window open and fan and it still was too hot. We stayed at cheaper hotels and had a better experience.

First time at Carton Hoise. Beautiful building, lobby, carriage house. Room was nice - although there was a leak in the sink and shower was quite weak Dinner in Carriage house was good and service very good Breakfast was average and lacked flavour. Pool is ok but no a spa pool note a gym pool And reflexology treatment was a foot rub not reflexology and cost far too much. Overall I would expect more from a Fairmont but it was comfortable.

This hotel is castle like. A huge beautiful main building and wings that spread out for additional rooms. Truly, the walk to the lobby was a good 5-7 minutes. Nice patio, good sized room with great amenities. Staff was a bit stuffy which was good with. Try and find our favorite “Ryan Seacrest” truly his twin and a great server. The hotel is set on a magnificent golf course and the Ireland school of golf. Great spot.

We had a great quick stay at the Carton house. We stayed in the “old” part of the hotel, and while everything else was great, some nature not so much. There were birds above our room that were very loud in the mornings, so sleeping in was not an option. Otherwise, the service and amenities are fantastic. The property and the grounds are beautiful, and just walking around was worth it. There are a lot of inclusive experiences such as walking path and free bikes.

Everything was brilliant, great food, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The pool and spa are fabulous too. Plenty to do, unfortunately I didn’t get the chance this time but I’ve played golf there before and both courses are excellent. All common areas and the rooms are spotlessly clean. The room were a good size with comfy beds. The hotel had made a real effort putting things on for the kids at Halloween. Will definitely be back.

It's a delightful hotel with fantastic ground. Highly recommend. Mixed a business trip with pleasure and brought along my wife and 6 month old. No problems whatsoever, from cots to highchairs. My only fault was the lackluster service at breakfast... I can only presume the staff were busy to recall they'd seated us and hadn't taken our order. Alas. Notwithstanding, it's a hotel that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Our stay at Carton House was, unfortunately, far from what we expected. I caught COVID during the trip, and the extreme dryness of the room made everything dramatically worse — every swallow felt like swallowing crushed glass. Even after turning off the air system, the noise from neighbouring rooms kept coming through the walls. The dustpan and brush in the room were broken and frankly disgusting to use, especially around the bathroom. Breakfast was excessively expensive, and our first room (225) smelled like something was burning. When I asked at reception to change rooms, the young woman told me she couldn’t offer anything better because we were staying “too many nights” — seven nights, apparently, was too long to deserve an upgrade. My wife was five months pregnant at the time. Another staff member had to come to inspect the room. Thankfully, the man who eventually came — Philippe — was extremely kind, professional and helpful. He arranged a much better room for us (256), larger, more comfortable, with more storage and even two complimentary drinks. He also helped with the luggage. Lovely grounds and a beautiful building. A bit spaced out like a Vegas hotel experience. The spa, pool and gym were very good. But the wellness center is hard to find unless you go outside the building. We spent six nights here and issues at every breakfast. One time they ran out of teaspoons and took nearly 10 minutes to get us one. Another time they were out of plates. Several times they brought other peoples’ hot food to our table. We had one dinner and that didn’t go smoothly either. Took fifteen minutes to get a glass of prosecco. Waiters at one point getting angry with each other in French close to our table. And, when our chowder that we were sharing arrived it came without spoons. We shared a hamburger and that arrived uncut and without any cutlery. Also, the phone in the room didn’t work. I mentioned this to reception and they said maintenance would handle the next morning. They did not and I had to follow up. Overall, very disappointing for a hotel of this class.

Beautiful hotel, we were there for NYE, food was excellent however, the bar was understaffed and there were no chairs for people to sit after dinner, no staff seem to have the common sense to get chairs for people v odd was there was lots of space for them, a v expensive night away to have no seat seems unbelievable really. There were only a few family tables and a few stools at the bar, they really need to prepare based on number of bookings. The bar manager was v nice & he was severely under pressure with guests complaining, very unfair on the staff.

Very efficient and friendly greeting by Teresa on reception at Chrck-In along with her colleague Gregory. Warmest check in I have had in a long time. Food / service was superb. Ate dinner in Coach House & service by Nathan was first class. Breakfast was also excellent with lots of fresh food & good coffee on menu. Overall a superb hotel with friendly professional & qualitystaff.

Our stay at the Carton house was fabulous. Our room was spacious & comfy, large bathroom and extremely clean. Check in was smooth and the ladies at the front were extremely helpful (i wish i had remembered their names). Make sure you go for breakfast! That was by far the highlight! Food was delicious. I would not recommend booking a dinner service at the Carriage House. My husband and I were extremely disappointed in the service we received for the price of our meal. We had a meal of equal quality through room service the following night! We would definitely return and stay for longer next time

The staff were attentive and kind, the hotel itself is gorgeous, and they have the most beautiful walking trails into the nearby town of Maynooth. We had an early flight with our young children in the morning, and the staff prepared breakfast to go for the car. Every detail was on point. Would recommend and stay at the Carton House again!

We’ve never stayed at a 5 star hotel before so felt a bit out of our element. No one treated us as such though. The staff was amazing. The place was beautiful. The meals were incredible. You got to learn the history of the place in multiple ways. Location would have been easier if we’d had our own car, but it was well worth the extra effort to get there via taxi/train combo.

The Carton house is about 45 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from Dublin. The grounds are lovely. The walk to Town is about 30 minutes and well worth it as there are other historical sites to visit in the town. The interior of the Carton house is modern but historical features remain throughout. Make sure you make dinner reservations well before you get there as the restaurants on property fill up quickly. The activities should also be booked well in advance. Many we wished to do were already booked out. We wanted to do the falcon lessons and whiskey tasting but they were not available. The horseback riding was quite fun and about 20 minutes away by taxi.

Beautiful property with amazing grounds. Food is fantastic as is the service. Take advantage of the on-site bikes, a great area to ride. Also, we did horseback riding and archery set up by the hotel and they were the highlights of our stay.

Our stay here was excellent. Great check in experience. Amenities and grounds are excellent. We enjoyed a lovely evening and were joined with friends before dinner. The following morning breakfast reserved in Kathleen’s Kitchen. The food was excellent. The ambience was too formal for breakfast. Some of the waiters did not enquire how one was or asked about the menu. Fine for dinner but could less formal in the morning

Probably wasn't there long enough to fully rate. Service at dinner wasn't what I would expect in a 5 star. Likewise again at breakfast I was amazed there was only a buffet. Again at this star level freshly cooked options are expected. The buffet was very good but with no options to order fresh food the overall score for breakfast would be as low as 3/10.

The Carton House is an absolutely breathtaking property, complemented by a team of caring and attentive staff. The dining options ranged from casual to elegant, and the dining rooms themselves were beautifully decorated. To celebrate our friend's birthday, I ordered a small red velvet cake, and was given the option to have it delivered either to one of the dining rooms or to my room. We chose to celebrate at The Carriage House, where our cake was not only delivered to our table after dinner, but it was also absolutely delicious! During our stay, we also had the chance to experience the Beekeeping Experience, which exceeded all expectations. While I anticipated it being unique, I didn't expect to walk away with such a deep understanding of the entire process. The beekeeper, Thomas, was fantastic—he took the time to explain everything from the basics to the various hive levels, as well as the fascinating life cycles of the bees. It was an educational and truly captivating experience that I would highly recommend. A heartfelt thanks to the entire Carton House team for making our stay so memorable, especially Paula and Constantine (Guest Relations), Alfonso (Bar), Courtney (Kathleen's Kitchen), and Aimee (The Carriage House). We truly appreciated our time here!

Lovely grounds and a beautiful building. A bit spaced out like a Vegas hotel experience. The spa, pool and gym were very good. But the wellness center is hard to find unless you go outside the building. We spent six nights here and issues at every breakfast. One time they ran out of teaspoons and took nearly 10 minutes to get us one. Another time they were out of plates. Several times they brought other peoples’ hot food to our table. We had one dinner and that didn’t go smoothly either. Took fifteen minutes to get a glass of prosecco. Waiters at one point getting angry with each other in French close to our table. And, when our chowder that we were sharing arrived it came without spoons. We shared a hamburger and that arrived uncut and without any cutlery. Also, the phone in the room didn’t work. I mentioned this to reception and they said maintenance would handle the next morning. They did not and I had to follow up. Overall, very disappointing for a hotel of this class.

Our stay at the Carton house was fabulous. Our room was spacious & comfy, large bathroom and extremely clean. Check in was smooth and the ladies at the front were extremely helpful (i wish i had remembered their names). Make sure you go for breakfast! That was by far the highlight! Food was delicious. I would not recommend booking a dinner service at the Carriage House. My husband and I were extremely disappointed in the service we received for the price of our meal. We had a meal of equal quality through room service the following night! We would definitely return and stay for longer next time

We have stayed before but this time it lost its charm. The attention to detail was the charm of the hotel which was lost. The breakfast was previously in Kathleen’s kitchen and was the primary reason we rebooked - this time it was in the golf club and it was terrible - both service and food quality. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Carton House. The manor home and grounds are absolutely beautiful and the Carriage House restaurant (one of two restaurants) was wonderful. We want to especially thank our porter, Jake, who assisted us with our luggage and later provided us with a guided tour of the manor home, which was built by the FitzGerald family in the 1720s. On our second day, we enjoyed a thirty minute walk from the hotel to the nearby town of Maynooth. Fabulous hotel. You'll love it!

Best hotel I have ever stayed at. Only negative thing I can say is it gets to be expensive, as other dining options are far away. But restaurants are very good so they can kind of back up the prices. But loved the hotel and hope to go back!!
