The Crown is situated in a pretty little village and is pretty much the centre of entertainment for that village. The pub itself is cosy, with beamed ceilings and is well stocked with ales and spirits to suit every taste. The staff are friendly and welcoming as are the locals. We had a twin bed room at the rear of the pub, which was comfortable enough. We were unable to book our usual double bed so sleeping on a smaller bed did not help. The room itself was clean and basic, with a good shower and bathroom. We had a dog with us so we were grateful to stay in a place that accepted dogs without any fuss. We had two evening meals and two breakfasts at the Crown. Breakfast was included and was very tasty. The meals served in the evening were really good, with a good variety of choice and reasonable prices. We ate in the bar, which had a great atmosphere. We would stay again, but would probably visit in the summer, which would allow for more sightseeing as Aldbourne is quite remote and apart from the Crown there is little to do, The countryside around Aldbourne is beautiful and within easy driving distance of Savernake Forest, Marlborough and Swindon. Great walks and views on the nearby Ridgeway.

A very nice little hostelry with lits of info on local history & lots going on. We were fortunate to be there for a live singer last night, theres another tonight & karaoke tomorrow. Facilities good & clean. If you like a firm bed, room 2's for you. Good drink selection & good breakfast. Recommended

We turned up quite late for check in but despite this, and even though the pub was busy, the staff were very helpful and polite. The room was clean, reasonably spacious with plenty of tea, coffee, towels, toiletries etc, and the bed was very comfortable after a long ride! The bathroom was clean and tidy. Downstairs had a great selection of drinks and the food menu was comprehensive. Breakfast was all fresh produce, great sausages and bacon along with tea, coffee, juice etc. Great history in this pub as well. Criticisms, hmmm. If I wanted to be really, really picky, the bedroom window was a tad hard to open. Seriously, thats it. Keep up the great work Alan, we intend to visit again soon. Highly recommended. The bikers from Yeovil

Very friendly, helpful and efficient staff, especially the lovely lady who served tasty breakfasts. Lively, cosy bar with a good range of meals. Very clean, comfortable room. Quiet little village, not too far from Marlborough which has lots of shops and eating places. I'd certainly stay here again.

This is a quaint pub with lots of interesting history. Although the accomodation is under renovation, the staff were highly accommodating and attentive which totally made up for any aspects of our stay which weren't quite up to standard. The food was delicious at both breakfast and dinner. Highly recommended and we will absolutely return in the future.

Stopped for three nights for work, the only downside was the noise from the quiz night on a Tuesday, which made it hard to fall asleep. Apart from that everything was good, room was clean and the service in the bar and restaurant was great.

Lovely stay in this village pub. We received a warm welcome and good breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable. Slight issue with the saniflow toilet but staff apologised and were awaiting it being fixed.

Attractive and historic inn in beautiful village. Lovely friendly staff. Pleasant welcoming bar. Room: small and basic but clean and with comfy beds. Small shower but with hot water and large soft towels. Dinner: steak night. One of the steaks was mostly gristle and sinews but the other was okay. The accompaniments were good and the Stilton sauce to die for!! I had ice cream for dessert but the caramel ice cream had obviously been refrozen as it was full of ice crystals. My friend had apple pie which was good. We were asked if the meal was good but the response to anything was just “ Ill let the chef know. “ Breakfast: A good traditional breakfast. Conclusion: Generally good and friendly but basic. Quiet the night we stayed but ear plugs provided for other nights!! Lovely staff and I would stay again.

This is a lovely old pub. Our room was nice. The staff and landlord were very friendly and the food was great. The rooms are up some steep stairs, which if you have limited mobility may be difficult. Our room was rather noisy whilst the pub is open and a staircase to the upper floor has people thumping up it until past midnight, which woke us in spite of the thoughtfully supplied earplugs. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

I stayed in Withers which is a deluxe room, it was a very good size with plenty of room for me and my large dog who was travelling with me. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen and towels were good. I can’t comment on breakfast as I had to leave before 8am which is the time the breakfast service begins. What makes this place so nice is the staff who are super friendly and helpful. It is very dog friendly too. I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The lady doing breakfasts could not do more to help. We spoke with several employees and locals and they were all great. We had a good meal in the evening and the breakfast offering was excellent. Thank you to all.

We turned up quite late for check in but despite this, and even though the pub was busy, the staff were very helpful and polite. The room was clean, reasonably spacious with plenty of tea, coffee, towels, toiletries etc, and the bed was very comfortable after a long ride! The bathroom was clean and tidy. Downstairs had a great selection of drinks and the food menu was comprehensive. Breakfast was all fresh produce, great sausages and bacon along with tea, coffee, juice etc. Great history in this pub as well. Criticisms, hmmm. If I wanted to be really, really picky, the bedroom window was a tad hard to open. Seriously, thats it. Keep up the great work Alan, we intend to visit again soon. Highly recommended. Upon arrival I was met with a friendly greeting by a member of staff who showed me to my room and provided a full explanation of the facilities. I then went to the bar where I was offered a table in the restaurant. I ordered my dinner, which was delicious. The three bar staff, two woman and a man, were friendly, polite and attentive. I had a good night’s sleep before having a very good breakfast, which was served by a jolly, happy lady. All who were working at The Crown during my stay were excellent ambassadors for the establishment and made my visit memorable. The pub had a great atmosphere, the food was of a high standard and my room was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it. A sincere thank you to all concerned.

The Crown is situated in a pretty little village and is pretty much the centre of entertainment for that village. The pub itself is cosy, with beamed ceilings and is well stocked with ales and spirits to suit every taste. The staff are friendly and welcoming as are the locals. We had a twin bed room at the rear of the pub, which was comfortable enough. We were unable to book our usual double bed so sleeping on a smaller bed did not help. The room itself was clean and basic, with a good shower and bathroom. We had a dog with us so we were grateful to stay in a place that accepted dogs without any fuss. We had two evening meals and two breakfasts at the Crown. Breakfast was included and was very tasty. The meals served in the evening were really good, with a good variety of choice and reasonable prices. We ate in the bar, which had a great atmosphere. We would stay again, but would probably visit in the summer, which would allow for more sightseeing as Aldbourne is quite remote and apart from the Crown there is little to do, The countryside around Aldbourne is beautiful and within easy driving distance of Savernake Forest, Marlborough and Swindon. Great walks and views on the nearby Ridgeway.

This was a beautiful country pub in a great wonderful location. We had dinner at the pub the evening we checked in and it was delicious, breakfast was too. All the staff were very helpful, nice, and made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and and just all around lovely. We only wished that our stay had been longer. We will definatley return for longer soon.

A beautiful and comfortable place. Staff are hardworking and very friendly. Surroundings are also beautiful and steeped in very interesting history. Local facilities are also superb and just on the doorstep. A very enjoyable stay, which I would highly recommend to others.

We had a wonderful stay with our little one. All the staff were really friendly and very accommodating. It's a lovely place that is undergoing refurbishment and you can see this in places with some areas looking a bit tired. However we slept so well and had an excellent meal in the evening with massive portions and also a brilliant breakfast in the morning. We would definitely stay again if in the area, thank you.

This is a quaint pub with lots of interesting history. Although the accomodation is under renovation, the staff were highly accommodating and attentive which totally made up for any aspects of our stay which weren't quite up to standard. The food was delicious at both breakfast and dinner. Highly recommended and we will absolutely return in the future.

Attractive and historic inn in beautiful village. Lovely friendly staff. Pleasant welcoming bar. Room: small and basic but clean and with comfy beds. Small shower but with hot water and large soft towels. Dinner: steak night. One of the steaks was mostly gristle and sinews but the other was okay. The accompaniments were good and the Stilton sauce to die for!! I had ice cream for dessert but the caramel ice cream had obviously been refrozen as it was full of ice crystals. My friend had apple pie which was good. We were asked if the meal was good but the response to anything was just “ Ill let the chef know. “ Breakfast: A good traditional breakfast. Conclusion: Generally good and friendly but basic. Quiet the night we stayed but ear plugs provided for other nights!! Lovely staff and I would stay again.
