What an amazing hotel. Beautiful hotel, lovely romantic resteraunt by why of why is the spa pool cold and not hot? Everyone entering the pool said the same. After a dip it was then too cold to lie about on the loungers to relax. Small change would mean the perfect hotel.

Looks are deceiving. The property is in the middle of a housing estate which is conveniently cropped off the photo. The ‘spa’ pool is tiny (photos make this look much bigger). The outside hot tub has an extra charge of £25, which is a rip off considering the price of the rooms. I paid £145! Plus extra for breakfast. Extra charges for spa facilities are not explained up front. Couldn’t use the facilities anyway as it was full of day spa guests. I’d booked it specifically for the spa facilities but hotel didn’t seem to care that there wasn’t any space so had to sit in my room for 2 hours. You are expected to use the towel from your room also which is a bit yucky and cheap. Got charged £1.65 service charge for two drinks at the bar. Asked for that back as what’s the service for? - am basically standing at the bar waiting for my drinks- I never received it. Long wait to check in, long wait to check out. Car park full. Overflow some distance away but you get to take in the view of other people’s houses I suppose. Restaurant is the only great thing about this place. I do recommend trying out the food but save yourself a ton of money and book in to the premier inn round the corner- at least you know what you are going to get there and it’s half the price. To be honest I’m a bit suspicious of all the 10 star reviews- if you scroll through there are some at 4 star which seem more realistic and in line with what we experienced.

We attended for 1 night for some peace and quiet before our third baby’s arrival. We booked a double room with breakfast. Ok arrival our room was ready at 3pm. Ladies on reception told us where our room was and that the spa opens at 5pm which suited us although would have been lovely to be able to access from arrival. We were given instructions to our room but no instructions on how to access the spa etc or even where it is / whether there are changing facilities there or to walk down ready etc. Room was very clean, nice size, wasn’t completely to my taste but nice and modern. We were greeted with a congratulations card and brownie which was a lovely touch. We decided to dress ‘ready’ with clothes on top when we were able to access. Had to return to reception for instructions and pointed where to go and info regards to changing rooms etc. spa pool area was beautiful but small, minimal seating options which mean people leaving towels on floor and perching in the pool until a bed became available, similar to all inclusive hotel vibes! Pool was quite cold and other than steam room, no other facilities included. You were welcome to pay £25 each to access the outdoor pool for 1 hour but that it, not something we’ve experienced before. Beds were comfortable, rooms were overwhelmingly warm which meant using a fan and windows open in March… Breakfast in the morning was beautiful but again, people waiting around for a seat. Overall nice but wouldn’t return unfortunately.

We stayed at this hotel recently and couldn't really fault it. The rooms are clean, modern and stocked with essentials such as tea, coffee, water and biscuits. The beds were super comfortable and the hotel itself is lovely. The only downside is that the spa closes to guests at 10:00, after which point I am guessing you must make a paid booking. This was rather disappointing as I had hoped to utilise the spa after breakfast but was unable to do so before going home. Still a lovely place nevertheless, and for what it is worth, the spa looked lovely!

Really enjoyed our stay however I felt the £25 per person to use the outdoor pool when staying overnight was a bit much! Food was lovely and staff in restaurant were friendly and welcoming, unfortunately the same can’t be said for the staff at the spa, I found them rude and not very accommodating. Plus once you check out the following day you’ve no access after 10 to the spa this was disappointing as we couldn’t use access the spa until 5pm on arrival. Hotel is decorated to a high standard and our room was clean and comfortable.

Beautiful hotel and spa with excellent service from all staff. Surpassed my expectations. The outdoor vitality pool was fantastic, worthy the extra cost, and the indoor pool was beautiful. I especially appreciated the ability to order drinks and have them delivered poolside, a really superb addition. Our suite was large and tastefully decorated with a beautiful bathroom and large free-standing bath. Our room was quiet and the bed extremely comfortable. Very clean everywhere. Superb staff, especially the bar waiter. We would definitely return.

A beautiful hotel decorated to a high standard . We stayed in an attic room, number 53, The Bruce Suite. The room appeared beautifully decorated, had a comfy bed and a spacious en-suite. Having spent a couple of hours in it, we became aware of some problems. My husband is over 6ft tall and there are old beams all over, he had to duck. There is also an extremely narrow, low stone passageway between the bedroom and the en-suite. I am five foot one and just able to pass through, but my husband had to bend over and draw his arms across his chest. This entrance to the bathroom has no door!! Nothing for privacy! In fact, if you lie on the bed your eye is directly in line with the toilet, and anyone sitting on it! I spoke to a receptionist who spoke to the manager, who offered to move us to a smaller suite. We declined as we had unpacked and settled. Some other problems became apparent that evening. Up lighting in the room which didn’t work, the wardrobe would not close. Nowhere to sit comfortably ( something I thought a suite would offer). There is also some kind of problem with the drains, a terrible smell wafted around throughout our stay, air fresheners are all over!All was reported to the manager, he was grateful for the feedback but suggested that in future I stipulate that I would prefer a bathroom door when booking a hotel room! Having looked at other reviews, the smell and the lack of privacy has all been documented before, so is an ongoing issue I’m afraid.

Beautiful place, decor is lovely, large bedrooms, everything is so clean and well kept. Food in the bar and breakfast was lovely, veggie options are good. Staff are very friendly, especially stephen at the bar and Cameron on reception. This is our third time visiting Lanelay hall and will definitely be back. We especially like the Tribe spa area, outdoorpool was lovely and the inside pool is decorated lovely, relaxing music, scent and atmosphere.

Room noises from bedroom above, could hear people walking around room and using bathroom. A gap of @ 1 inch at bottom of main door. Shower water was not hot barely warm. Bathroom no bath, was given a room with disabled bathroom facilities, not what we wanted. Went to reception when we were given room to see about changing and was told they were fully booked so couldn’t change we felt short changed having chosen a deluxe room that was frankly basic. I would not recommend your hotel & would definitely not return

What made it an excellent stay for us was the superb food in Blok and also wonderful breakfasts. And immaculate cleaning (tho the carpet in the suite could have used a good steam clean and sofa was faded.) And comfy bed. Tho lovely and spacious our suite was a bit strangely laid out. The tiny sofa was underneath the TV so you couldn't sit in it and watch TV. Yet the room was so large it could have easily fit at the foot of the bed. The wardrobe, tho large, had the dressers inside it so your hanging clothing made it difficult to get to the drawers. And without a light, difficult to see. The bathroom had faux antique faucets on the sink with separate hot and cold water taps. So you either burned your hands trying to wash or you had to wash with cold water. It would have been so easy to get that faux effect with a mixer tap in the middle .And the heated towel rack only fit one towel folded in half. Our family stayed elsewhere in the hotel and there were other suites more warmly and convivially laid out than ours. But overall, it still was a lovely stay

The hotel is wonderful, excellent food. Spa is brilliant. Staff are helpful and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. Plenty of places to visit near by. We are staying again in December.

Oh my word what a gem we have found, this hotel blew our socks off,even thing about it was just perfect, from the opulence of the colours and materials of the furnishings to the reminders of what the hotel was as used as through the years. The cleanliness of everything was outstanding, we cannot wait to return everyone was so friendly and helpful.

My first time staying here and I was very impressed, the venue itself is beautiful, the whole place including the grounds were very clean and tidy, the decor of the place was lovely and very imaginative. My room was fantastic, very large, clean and had all the facilities. Dinner and breakfast were just perfect. I cant fault the place in any way, the staff were all very polite, perfect.

Hotel was very aesthetically pleasing with a decent spa with small pool and sauna (extra charges for outdoor pool) but good if you want ‘Instagram worthy pics’ Room was a decent size with comfortable bed and well equipped TV with Netflix, YouTube etc. Basic kettle and coffee appliances & bath in room. Issue with hot water, had to run the tap whilst using the shower/bath to try and get the water hot (problem with water in the whole hotel) which wasn’t ideal and our sink also overflowed very quickly. Rooms not sound proof could hear upstairs room moving around a lot. Overall nice stay, staff were friendly and apologised about the issue just disappointing about the hot water as it definitely makes the stay not feel worth the full value.

In fact, if you lie on the bed your eye is directly in line with the toilet, and anyone sitting on it! I spoke to a receptionist who spoke to the manager, who offered to move us to a smaller suite. We declined as we had unpacked and settled. Some other problems became apparent that evening. Up lighting in the room which didn’t work, the wardrobe would not close. Nowhere to sit comfortably ( something I thought a suite would offer). There is also some kind of problem with the drains, a terrible smell wafted around throughout our stay, air fresheners are all over!All was reported to the manager, he was grateful for the feedback but suggested that in future I stipulate that I would prefer a bathroom door when booking a hotel room! Having looked at other reviews, the smell and the lack of privacy has all been documented before, so is an ongoing issue I’m afraid.

Having spent a couple of hours in it, we became aware of some problems. My husband is over 6ft tall and there are old beams all over, he had to duck. There is also an extremely narrow, low stone passageway between the bedroom and the en-suite. The hotel and facilities were very good and staff were well trained and polite. The room however was not so good. Poor ventilation made for a hot sticky nights sleep as there were no openable window. The extract fan also ran constantly.

After a long drive from Sussex, I was looking forward to experiencing the charms of this reputable establishment. 15 minutes after the check-in, I was back on the road, heading towards Llanerch Vineyard, with no refund for a deluxe room, which had turned out to be a fancy janitor's closet located right next to the stairs in a busy corridor, with another door and a tiny window carved into what looked like a boarded-up shop front (both facing the car park), tiled floor, a stained, previously pink armchair in the corner, a hospital-style accessible wet room complete with a shower chair (I had not booked an accessible room) and amplified shuffling of upstairs guests (in addition to the nattering coming from the corridor and the car park) - life imitating a Father Ted episode. I graciously accepted the fact that they were fully booked that evening and therefore unable to offer an alternative room, but I was still rather shocked when the receptionist refused to offer any compensation after admitting she understood where I was coming from. Having worked in the service industry and always treated the staff with utmost respect (scenes, finger-wagging and reciting consumer rights are not part of my playbook), I was expecting reciprocation - some acknowledgement of them having failed to deliver - but all I got was a shrug and a reminder of their terms and conditions.

We were excited to splash out a little to stay here. We stayed in the Clocktower Room 1 advertised as a 'deluxe' room. We were surprised there was no bathtub, and the room was directly opposite an exit which was wide open. There is a large gap under the door so the room was very cold when we arrived. There was a good selection of toiletries and hot drink choices, but the kettle was small and basic, it didn't even have a light to let you know if it was on or off. This is fine if you were staying in a regular travelodge or something, but you expect a little more from a high end hotel. The room didn’t have a proper window, the headboard covered it and the glass was opaque. There was a big open shower room and an outside area with a table and chairs which was nice. The pool really did save the visit for us, it was so relaxing and tranquil, we stayed there a few hours. We did not sleep very well, you hear every floorboard from upstairs in the room we were in, and then there was a delivery around 4/5 am that you could hear loudly from our room. We were only there 1 night otherwise we would have requested to move. I'm not saying this is a bad hotel at all, but we stay in hotels often and this is pricey for what you get.

The hall and courtyard were beautiful and the staff were welcoming. Expect a big spend if you're having a meal. We were placed in an accessible room despite not having accessibility needs. I was staying in the Bruce Suite, it was very nice but i would suggest (as this room is attic one) it gets very hot - i would recommend an air con unit, fans are not good enough.

We booked this accommodation for our 1-night honeymoon and we couldn’t have asked for it to go any better! We were made to feel special - whether it be in our fantastically spacious suite, in the relaxed bar, in the luxurious spa or the restaurant where fine-dining was at its best. We were fortunate to meet the General Manager John who was always at hand to check our day ran smoothly and we were looked after. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.

Absoulety gorgeous hotel, food, service was incredible and staff were so welcoming warm and professional. Other than the spa lady this morning around half 10 I wasn’t sure of her name, however myself and my husband were having a swim before we checked out at 11 and the spa was empty and we were laughing and told to keep the noise down in quite a rude manner. I found it inappropriate as no one else was using the facilities and pool or spa at the time and we were the only ones there I appreciate keeping the noise to a minimal level for others to relax and we were very curtious and conscious of this. It was rather patronising and rose to end the experience. However the spa lady prior the day before and in the morning up until 10.30 was very warm and welcoming offering beverages and going above and beyond to ensure a satisfactory stay! Thanks so much we’ll be coming again

Disappointed over swimming availability. We had booked a two night stay with a spa treatment. The blond receptionist was far from welcoming when we popped our heads round to find out where the swimming and spa facilities were located. Times for using the pool were restricted as it was also open to non residents. Unfortunately, times did not suit so we were unable to use the pool. In fact we never got to see the pool.

We had a great stay and we really enjoyed the spa and the restaurant. The food was of very good quality and the service was impeccable (from the reception staff to restaurant, spa and housekeeping). We are definitely going to visit again

Our stay felt luxurious and relaxing. Room was very comfortable and quiet. We also had the opportunity to use the pool which was lovely. Breakfast was delicious. It's a bit harder getting here with public transportation. We walked from Pontyclun station which was okay but others may want to make sure they pre-arrange transportation if needed.

Looks are deceiving. The property is in the middle of a housing estate which is conveniently cropped off the photo. The ‘spa’ pool is tiny (photos make this look much bigger). The outside hot tub has an extra charge of £25, which is a rip off considering the price of the rooms. I paid £145! Plus extra for breakfast. Extra charges for spa facilities are not explained up front. Couldn’t use the facilities anyway as it was full of day spa guests. I’d booked it specifically for the spa facilities but hotel didn’t seem to care that there wasn’t any space so had to sit in my room for 2 hours. You are expected to use the towel from your room also which is a bit yucky and cheap. Got charged £1.65 service charge for two drinks at the bar. Asked for that back as what’s the service for? - am basically standing at the bar waiting for my drinks- I never received it. Long wait to check in, long wait to check out. Car park full. Overflow some distance away but you get to take in the view of other people’s houses I suppose. Restaurant is the only great thing about this place. I do recommend trying out the food but save yourself a ton of money and book in to the premier inn round the corner- at least you know what you are going to get there and it’s half the price. To be honest I’m a bit suspicious of all the 10 star reviews- if you scroll through there are some at 4 star which seem more realistic and in line with what we experienced.

Stayed for 2 nights, all staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very stylish and clean. Tge Sunday lunch and breakfasts were delish, would highly recommend this hotel and will return to stay again. It was a little dificult to find, the sign near the main road was not easily visible due to being a bit obscured by a large tree.

Beautifully refurbished classic building very convenient to Cardiff but felt like a relaxing retreat away. Wonderful breakfast. Very friendly staff. Loved it! Highly recommend it.

Lovely room with bath in room. Food excellent. Quite pricey. On Tuesday the restaurant wasn’t open so the bar was packed and we had to wait for a table. Very good staff. Spa pool way too cold. The spa and brunch package was a perfect way to start our stay. Massage was spot on and almost put me to sleep. Outdoor relaxation pool was a great temperature to sit in and drink a little bit of the bubbly before tucking into a Chorizo Hash. Spent a little time in the bar in the afternoon before spending an afternoon binging Netflix in the room. Bar was well stocked with local beers and a cheeky unique beer from Germany I've not seen before. Evening meal at Blok was absolutely delicious. Shared a 1.2kg Tomahawk which was cooked to perfection. That Barolo sauce will live long in the memory. Do you serve it in pint glasses? We went for our 4th wedding anniversary and the staff couldn't say congratulations enough or go out of their way to make it a little more special. Can't recommend this place enough.

Beautiful place to stay with an outstanding restaurant and bar. Everyone was so friendly and nice. They are all very concerned about food allergies!

Loved the hotel. Not a lot of parking. Bar food no flexibility. I was there having worked all day at 5.50 it took 2 staff to pour drinks. I was served a few minutes before 6 and told it was evening menu which was nibbles. I don’t think a fish finger sandwich would have taken half an hour! Little flexibility is needed for customers. Not everyone is on a spa break

Fantastic hotel. Interior deco is well designed. Booked a deluxe king suite with bath in middle of the room but ended up with a bathroom on a separate floor. The Bassett suite. Room must’ve been directly above kitchen as it smelt of cooked dinners for the majority of our stay. Booked a meal at the BLOK restaurant in the hotel. Fantastic 3 courses, although I did nearly choke on the meat string that was left in my steak. I did inform the staff but nothing was done.

The Lanelay hotel was ok, overall I wouldn’t say it was luxury for a number of reasons, we had a suite, however, based on similar visits to other hotels I expected the room to have better amenities, ie no mini fridge , no Nespresso machine ( I see these regularly in high quality hotels, no AC and very little surface space in the room due to a large wardrobe and 25% of the room taken up by a bath . I’d mark the room 4/10 for value and design. Blok restaurant was excellent , service , food selection and quality was very good - well done . The Spa was very disappointing , charging an extra £25 pp with restricted access to use an outside hot plunge pool was exploitive , the spa lacked adequate space to relax with only 8 beds in a hotel with far more guests was poor . Pool itself was good, small sauna and no steam room, it was ok but not at a level I’d class as luxury or high standard of facilities. I’d rate the spa 5/10 , it was very evident their focus was on selling day spas and revenue generation rather than giving hotel guests an experience that reflected the price they charge. Reception service was functional , however , I wouldn’t consider they saw guests as a priority . Breakfast wasn’t value for money, environment was good, gardens were open and service was good, however, ingredients , range and quality wasn’t at a level I have experienced in similar quality hotels , again service 8/10 , food 3/10 , for example no cold meats, granola bought in and list goes on

Great stay, although the restaurant is closed on a Monday and Tuesday so you can only have a very limited bar menu, you can only use the swimming pool at certain times, which is ridiculous, you also have to pay another £25 per person to use the jacuzzi and that’s limited timing to, this hotel is set up for spa days not hotel stays !

Staff were lovely, amenities were fantastic. We had a room with a bathtub in the bedroom and it was beautiful. Lovely Indian restaurant in the town also called Brothers Contemporary Indian.

Second time visiting here and we decided to go for one of the suites. Definitely worth the money we celebrated my birthday and was left a lovely little note with a treat on the bed as well as the bath in the room! Very clean and made use of the pool in the evening which was quiet we went about 8pm had it to ourselves. Breakfast was a little slow as we only 1 member of staff on but apart from that good selection. Everyone was really friendly. Would recommend
