Royal Palms Motel

Cynthia at the front desk was AMAZING! So sweet & welcoming! She was truly my favorite part of our stay. The room was nice, but we felt cramped. The bathroom is TINY. When I sit on the toilet, my feet were in the shower. The shower was nice, but TOO BIG for the size of the bathroom. The sink is so tiny & the water would splash everywhere. We really wanted to change hotels, but since we had already checked in, I could not be refunded. If I ever go back to Tybee Island, I would stay closer to the pier & shopping. I did like that the fact that this hotel had a pool, but I didn't want to swim in because of all the water bugs swimming in it.

Rooms are nicely updated and decorated. The property is your standard motel and a little rough around the edges. Staff is very nice and communicates thoroughly. The location is great. Our only complaint was that our room had no interior deadbolt or security latch.

Hotel was nice until we had a domestic situation. The front of the house clerk interjected herself into things and made it worse. My son was in need of help and instead of doing the right thing and asking him to vacate the property so he had no choice but to leave safely with his family she chose to tell him and his drunk counterpart we were attempting to protect him from that he could stay on the property. My son is now down there with a drunk idiot that can not drive, no place to stay hanging out at a motel in a city he does not live in. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. This behavior is absolutely disparaging and digusting. The desk clerk to seriously be ashamed of herself for involving herself in someone’s family issues when a MOTHER is trying to protect her child.

This is an old motel. It has been painted and updated a bit but if you are not OK with old, you will be disappointed. The room was clean with a cute retro kitchen area. Our room had walk-in shower only. Beds were fairly comfortable. No make-up or getting ready space in bathroom. It was fine for us and we would stay there again. But I would make sure it meets your expectations before booking.
