The room had everything you would expect. The bed was comfortable. It was a pity that the TV was unusable because there was not remote! Parking was available a short distance away. The room overlooked the square and voices could be heard quite clearly. There were also clock chimes every 15 minutes, but they weren't intrusive.

Arrived at a family friendly Pub/hotel just outside of the Lake District. No frills, ie not touristy, but staff (Sue, Dan and .....) helped me out with plans for visiting the area.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Easy parking just have to unload first before you move the car to a nearby spot. Staff friendly. No full breakfast but you can order continental online when you book or there is a bakery on the same street. Was a good stopover to use as a base.

I admittedly arrived at a busy time and The Bear was reportedly chronically short of staff. Whilst the room and its cleanliness was excellent, the human side was somewhat chaotic. I queued twice for approx. 15 mins in total only to be told, in regard to ordering food, that the chef was very busy and not feeling well. I could not order any food and whilst sickness is unavoidable no decision was made to stop food orders for the evening. That lack of a decision was the problem and frustrating. I was told I might be able to order later but I'd need to wait and there was no certainty. I cut my losses and went to another nearby pub where I received calm service and great food.
