Our room was not ready at the time we were told it would be but the host was nice enough and comped us some beverages. However. The ad is not clear that there was no lift. The room was on the fourth floor.

Great location! But there are no elevators, which made it really fun to climb three flights with luggage. Also, the street noise is quite loud at night and early morning.

Hanover 71 is a nicely restored historical structure, furnishings are nice and all the usual toiletries are provided. The location is also good. We ate breakfast at the restaurant downstairs and the food was excellent both times. The literature in the room says you get a 20% discount but was actually given a 10% discount which was still appreciated. Be aware that there is no elevator so if you have any mobility or strength issues, getting to the mid and upper level rooms with luggage will be a challenge.

Beautifully decorated rooms, you walk into a cafe when you enter then the stairs lead you into your room. There are no elevators. The room and attached bathroom was spacious for my family of 4 with 2 kids.

Loved the rooms, they are amazing and one of the best bathrooms I have seen in a hotel. There was 2 things I didnt like, there is no proper front desk or lobby, and there is no elevator, with 30 foot ceilings, and 2 floors, it was tuff taking our luggage up the long stairs.

The downstairs of the property is under construction, so it was noisy and dusty. However, the property is close to everything. We were out daily, so the construction didn’t bother us that much.

This was the worst hotel. No warning that the entire downstairs is being reconstructed. Description included a restaurant, but there was none. Not even a vending machine. No one was there to check me in. The door was locked and a housekeepe- we didn’t have a common language- seemed confused by my arrival. My daughter found a note from the staff giving me Code for all the door locks. We then had to bring our luggage up 2 flights of spiral stairs in the heat. The carpet was filthy. The room had air conditioning that wasn’t working. I was told I could get my parking validated for. Reduced rate and the lady who opened the door gave me one that didn’t work for day one, and then I never saw staff again to get one for the second day or to ask why the validation for the first day did t work at the car park they told me to use. It was awful. Would not recommend.

The staff were all very friendly and the room was lovely. Really central location and parking nearby was handy for our Saturday to Sunday stay. It’s not super obvious when you go in where you’re supposed to check in but it smells like coffee and cake so it wasn’t a problem!

This was a family trip to the Christmas market. The location is fantastic, walking distance from the station, perfect for seeing all the attractions, shops and eateries. Everything was ready on time of us arriving, The restaurant in the building was fantastic and the staff were amazing. We will be back

The hosts were fantastic! We arrived to a sparkling clean apartment stocked with fresh fruit, coffee and many choices for bath products. The locations is perfect for exploring and it's a very comfortable place to return to after a long day exploring!

THERES NO HOT WATER! I was so freezing coming back to hotel and ended up showered in freezing cold water! The hot water only lasted 10 secs and switched back to cold! Quite disappointing. But it was clean and spacious.

Wonderful hotel at the city center with nice Italian restaurant nearby. Beautiful and clean property with a self check-in facility. Wi-Fi wasn’t working and cafe at the hotel closes at 7 PM.

Location was wonderful - very close Waverly/Royal Mile and is also surrounded by lots of more quiet (and excellent) restaurants and pubs. I had probably the best Italian meal right downstairs! Also - the showers are wonderful! Possibly the best in the UK! No bathtub, but a fully enclosed stall with serious water pressure!

The location is central, the rooms spacious and bright. The bed was comfy. The only thing worth considering is your cardiovascular health, I had to walk two majestic spiral staircase stories to get to my room. There are bars nearby, and because it's very central, it's vibrant at night - you will hear some noise if that's a concern. But it certainly didn't bother me. There were towels, soaps, coffee/teas and a kettle.

Neat place. Note there are 79 steps to the top floor (rooms 8 & 9). No AC if you are there when it is warmer. Enjoyed the separate rooms as we had 3 guests. Quiet room and decently comfortable bed (firm mattress). Would stay again.

Great spot! Check-in was a bit rough; I didn't have service, so I didn't get the email about self-check-in, and when I did get the info it led to an occupied room. We got it sorted shortly and onward was a great, comfy spot.

The staff were all very friendly and the room was lovely. Really central location and parking nearby was handy for our Saturday to Sunday stay. It’s not super obvious when you go in where you’re supposed to check in but it smells like coffee and cake so it wasn’t a problem!

This was a family trip to the Christmas market. The location is fantastic, walking distance from the station, perfect for seeing all the attractions, shops and eateries. Everything was ready on time of us arriving, The restaurant in the building was fantastic and the staff were amazing. We will be back

Location was wonderful - very close Waverly/Royal Mile and is also surrounded by lots of more quiet (and excellent) restaurants and pubs. I had probably the best Italian meal right downstairs! Also - the showers are wonderful! Possibly the best in the UK! No bathtub, but a fully enclosed stall with serious water pressure!

The location is central, the rooms spacious and bright. The bed was comfy. The only thing worth considering is your cardiovascular health, I had to walk two majestic spiral staircase stories to get to my room. There are bars nearby, and because it's very central, it's vibrant at night - you will hear some noise if that's a concern. But it certainly didn't bother me. There were towels, soaps, coffee/teas and a kettle.

Great central location. Room was lovely. Really spacious room and exactly as in pictures with no trick photography used to make it look bigger. Great for travelling with teenage son. Some good restaurants nearby and cafe food was great and staff really friendly.

Hanover 71 is a nicely restored historical structure, furnishings are nice and all the usual toiletries are provided. The location is also good. We ate breakfast at the restaurant downstairs and the food was excellent both times. The literature in the room says you get a 20% discount but was actually given a 10% discount which was still appreciated. Be aware that there is no elevator so if you have any mobility or strength issues, getting to the mid and upper level rooms with luggage will be a challenge.

Being from the states I would never had booked this hotel in June knowing it had no air. When we arrived at 3:30pm no one knew where are room was. The started to scramble around. They finally said they had a room for us. But it was on the second floor. No lifts which is normal for older buildings but they had no one to carry the bags up for us. We had three big bags and my husband has a lung disease and it’s hard enough for him to walk up stairs let alone with bags. But the stairs are not regular stairs its a spiral stair case with narrow steps. The room was nice but you do get a lot of noise coming from the bar downstairs. All through the night you hear lots of bottles being put in trash. I will say the owner did bring us fans and that definitely helped. When we came the temperature was the hottest they had seen in awhile also. And you do get to smell the cafe aroma all day. But if you need someone they are available only from 9-5pm.

Wonderful hotel at the city center with nice Italian restaurant nearby. Beautiful and clean property with a self check-in facility. Wi-Fi wasn’t working and cafe at the hotel closes at 7 PM.

We stayed in room 5. Huge bedroom beautifully decorated. Very comfortable bed and nice walk in shower. Highly recommend Very friendly welcome. We enjoyed breakfast in the cafe . Stunning food and coffee. We will definitely be back.

This was the worst hotel. No warning that the entire downstairs is being reconstructed. Description included a restaurant, but there was none. Not even a vending machine. No one was there to check me in. The door was locked and a housekeepe- we didn’t have a common language- seemed confused by my arrival. My daughter found a note from the staff giving me Code for all the door locks. We then had to bring our luggage up 2 flights of spiral stairs in the heat. The carpet was filthy. The room had air conditioning that wasn’t working. I was told I could get my parking validated for. Reduced rate and the lady who opened the door gave me one that didn’t work for day one, and then I never saw staff again to get one for the second day or to ask why the validation for the first day did t work at the car park they told me to use. It was awful. Would not recommend.

How this hotel got 4 stars I will never understand. In fact, it's much closer to a B&B than a hotel. The breakfast is very good, the rooms are spacious and the location is central. Otherwise, I don't have much positive to say. The reception is almost non-existent, and unless you check in between 15.00 and 16.00, there will be no person to help you out. Generally speaking, the place is severely understaffed. There's also no luggage storage. Not all rooms come with bathrooms as seen in the images, and the stairs are steep (no elevator either btw.). The air conditioning didn't work at all, the view was a backyard wall, and the lighting was bad, especially in the bathroom. If you plan to use the additional bed, be prepared to make it yourself.
