Homewood Suites by Hilton San Marcos

I am a Hilton Honors Member and have stayed in many Hilton hotels around the world. I have been pleasantly impressed with the service, rooms, and with my overall experience there. However, I did not have a pleasant experience with the San Macros Homewood Suites property. I prebooked on hotels.com and asked for a connecting room as I was staying with my friends. Not only was the room not connecting as I had previously requested, the room was nasty. It smelled horrible almost like the toilet/sewage. The toilet was stained and was not cleaned - the carpet was disgusting and the drain in the sink was not draining. When I told the reception desk staff about the issues, they were rude and didn't acknowledge my (customers) concern. Instead, he showed me attitude. Additionally, the breakfast buffet was disgusting and nothing was refilled - the Sunday breakfast closes at 10 and the kitchen staff started taking all the food away at 9:45 am. To top it off, the cleaning staff didn't make the beds or leave us fresh towels. My whole experience was absolutely horrible and I 100% do not recommend this hotel. Nasty and unkept property, rude staff and nasty rooms.

No regresaría y no lo recomiendo. Lo bueno: Excelente ubicación para ir de compras y amplio estacionamiento sin costo. Las habitaciones son muy espaciosas, están en buenas condiciones y cuentan con microondas, refrigerador y estufa eléctrica. Lo regular: El desayuno tenía pocas opciones y lo único saludable eran naranjas y manzanas. La habitación olía a humedad al llegar. Lo malo: Estuvimos 4 noches y, a pesar de solicitar el aseo varias veces, nunca se limpió la habitación. Pedimos el servicio a tres personas distintas en el front desk: las dos primeras solo "anotaron el número de habitación" sin más explicación, y fue la tercera quien nos informó que la limpieza se hace un día sí y un día no, y que los fines de semana no hay servicio. Esto refleja descuido y una clara falta de capacitación y comunicación entre el personal. Esta política debería informarse al momento de la reserva, o reflejarse en una tarifa diferenciada los fines de semana, ya que el huésped paga por un servicio que no se presta todos los días. Además, al hacer check-out no quisieron entregarme el recibo impreso. No lo recomendaría. La ubicación y el tamaño de las habitaciones son sus únicos puntos fuertes, pero la falta de limpieza, la desinformación del personal y la negativa a entregar un recibo son fallas básicas que pesan más que cualquier comodidad.

Wasn't a fan of their breakfast but everything else was great. Rooms were extremely spacious. Loved the space and loved the amenities.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was courteous and the place was very clean.

The room was clean and roomy but the AC unit was leaking. The pillows are worthless and should be replaced. Breakfast was fine; kids enjoyed the waffles. It was not noisy in terms of highway sounds or partying but if anyone above you decides to walk around, you will hear every step. The location is good and convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful.
