Placid Bay Hotel

We are frequent return guests. Ongoing issue is ice machine that remains empty… very inconvenient to drive at night for a glass of ice… also Housekeepers should clean rooms at least very two days (we called on day 4). No hot water but it was fixed next day.

I really liked this place. The rooms were small but comfy. We really enjoyed the TV having Hulu/Netflix hooked up. The outdoor amenities such as the fire pit, corn hole, pool, and kayaks were a lot of fun. This place is also 10 minutes from the strip and most hikes.

10/10 Fantastic place to stay, nice comfy & cozy bed, great bathroom, nice outdoor features. Chairs to sit around the docks and view the lake. Nice fire pit beside the lake!

Need ice in the ice machine A recurring issue No hot water one night but got fixed next day with local provider Hyde fuel AC in room 1 did not work properly at night not cooling the room. Still our to go place and a great value most of the time. Great location and parking. Staff very accommodating.

Right on lake placid .. kayak available.. heated pool, 3mins from village . Perfect spot during summer time.

I recently stayed at the Placid Bay Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located on a quiet bay in Lake Placid, just a short walk from downtown. The property is well maintained and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I especially appreciated the availability of canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) for guests to use for free. The check in is very easy. A couple hours before check in you are sent a code for your room. They do not have a person on site but do have access to a number of things you might need. The property is right on the lake and the view from the room is great. Our room was small but comfortable. They have canoes and kayaks for guests to use. The down town area is easily in walking distance.

The room was beautiful. Everything looked clean and new. The location was great. Parking was the only negative. The smallish lot was full when we arrived (8pm). Would definitely stay there again.

The whole check in-check out proccess was smooth and very convenient. Hotel room and bathroom were amazingly renovated and beautiful as well as clean. Had a great stay. Only inconvence was the lack of parking at the hotel. I understood that it was small and a tourist town, just felt inconvenienced when i had to park at a different hotel and walk to my hotel. Just feel in future the information ahead of time would have been appreciated so i would have known to uber or lyft. But all in all it was an amazing stay and a great hotel.

We stayed in room 18. We arrived shortly after 4pm. The room had a large hair in the toilet along with nose hair clippings in the toilet, behind the toilet seat and on top of the toilet tank. The refrigerator had a long hair and food crumbs on the inside bottom. The batteries for the air conditioner did not work. If I wasn’t 5’10” I would not have been able to turn the air conditioner on. It was mounted above the door and my wife couldn’t reach it. The only window ( which was 4’ above the floor and outside porch ) had a broken lock and could not be secured. The porch was a common walkway to other rentable rooms. When my wife pulled down the bed covering, to take a nap, we saw a 2’-3’ stain on the sheet that looked like the bed had never been changed. We called management ( Jesse ), because no one seemed to be on site, and they put us in another room that was larger at no additional cost. We moved to the new room. This room had no K-cups, had only one wash cloth and one body towel. Again crumbs and grass on the bottom inside of the refrigerator. It had nothing to hang on the door to let housekeeping know if you needed anything nor a “Do Not Disturb” sign. We were there for 3 days and never saw management. Luckily in the check-in area there was a cage with a spare bath towel, some hand towels, an iron and ironing board. The air conditioner was so loud that we could only have it on fan. We had stayed there 3 times before new ownership and never had a problem before.

The property is in a lovely location right on lake placid. Free kayaks and canoes. Nice outdoor pool. No pool towels with warnings not to use the room towels. Keurig machine . 2 pods in our room. No refills provided. We stayed 3 nights. Filthy carpet in the room. No hairdryer. No staff around to ask about these issues

No food options. The bed was very comfortable but there was no mattress cover, just a fitted sheet on top of the mattress. Not very hygienic. The bathroom needs an entire renovation. The room was not deep cleaned.

I was hoping that the low price wasn’t a reflection of the property but in this case it was. The flooring was a beige carpet and there were stains throughout the room. There were also beverage stains on the doors and the walls. The chair in the room had visible discoloration. The bathroom floors were not clean. The staff did accommodate us with an early check-in as requested which was appreciated but upon arrival the room was only 60 degrees. I really wanted to like this place but I couldn’t wait to go home and shower. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone else. I will note that I am a clean freak so these things really throw me off, if you are not then it may be fine for you.

Very clean, comfortable, large bathroom and excellent service. Best sleep I’ve had in years.

Comfortable, clean, quiet.

Stayed in the luxury cabin which the space is very accommodating and you have great views to the lake. The canoes are a great feature too. However a better job can be done about the cleanliness of the hotel. The walls and window sills are extremely dusty. The rugs are very dirty. The kitchen can also use some updating. The sheets in the pull out coach were not clean. There is a ton of geese droppings in the back. Overall, the cabin size is great and the location is perfect close to town and so many amenities within walking distance but a better job can be done with cleaning.

The carpet in the room was beyond dirty, it was absolutely gross. Although there were Keurig coffee pods, there was no Keurig to make coffee in. Tried contacting and never received a response. The entry door did not close securely.

Clean and well furnished.

Amazing stay, check in or lack of one was amazing. Texted our room code and if any issues to text manager back. The room was clean and comfy. The ONLY down fall was the wall unit air conditioner unit was really noisy and made falling asleep impossible. I wish I had a small fan to put by the window to cool the room down than to run the noisy air conditioner.

This is an old motel with a fresh coat of paint. Nothing amazing but comfortable enough for a night or two. Light sleepers beware. The walls are THIN. You can clearly hear a conversation or the tv in the next room over.

The window in my room faced the street and intersection about 30 ft away.

Weird contactless check in. But maintenance guy was great in the morning. Really cool place. Walls are thin and you could hear other room clearly.

I loved this hotel last year and booked again for the same work event. This year however, the shower nob was broken when we first got there, so we couldn’t shower for the first night. And the heat/air con wasn’t responding to the thermostat, so it was either off and freezing, or reading 80 degrees.

The suite was amazing - very large and sapcious. Very clean. Perfect location. Easy check-in. Would absolutely recommend and will be back :)

We didn’t like the contactless check. The room was very small and we were unable to adjust the air conditioning to a cooler temperature.

It was a great spot , close to town. The rooms were comfortable and clean . The view of the lake at the back of the property was gorgeous. The initial code that was sent to me to get in the room did not work but I called and got assistance immediately and she stayed on the phone with us until we got in the room . The only negative comment I have is the limited parking spots . It snowed while we were there and it made the limited space even more challenging.

Ran into a problem checking in online. Took a number of phone calls and time to resolve issue. Frustrating.

I love that it is self serve. Getting in and out is very easy and streamlined. The personal, apartment style rooms make for an experience that feels personal and homey.

Checked in at 4pm but room was not ready, bed was not made. After calling customer service we were told there were laundering issues and please come back at 4:30 everything would be ready. At 4:30 room was still not ready, on site staff never got the message. On site staff were super friendly and took care of finishing the room right away. Otherwise everything was great.

I never got the check in email with room number and access code. Plus the hotel didn’t clean the room while I was there. Not worth the price. Not sure I would stay there again.

There was no one a out the property. All business is done by annoying endless texts there was no ice in the ice maker and the microwave didn't work. We couldn't get into our room because the code they sent didn't work. Coffee maker didn't work . Then they asked for a review on the 1st day . I had to block the texts

It's basically a motel that has new paint. It's on the main road - noisy trucks. The room smelled of cheesy popcorn and we woke up nautious. The chair (only 1) had stains on it. The air conditioner was so loud (a 747 would seem peaceful) we had to turn it off so we were too hot. The check in has nobody in the office - it's all with a code, there is no lobby, no place to get a drink (just a coffee machine), the pool looked nice, and there were chairs by the water, but this is NOT a resort, it's a motel. I phoned to ask if we could move and not stay or pay since it's such false advertising, but they said no, but they would happily give me a discounted rate since it was so disappointing. BUT they lied, ghosted me after we stayed despite seeming to care what we thought. I highly recommend you save your money and stay at a real resort. Don't stay here.
