We stayed here for one night whilst doing the National Road Rally on our motorbikes and arrived aching and soaking wet after 300 miles of rain. Area - the pub is in a really quiet, lovely village. Parking - Plenty of free parking on a gravel (but well compacted) car park opposite the pub. Staff - Management seem to have got their recruitment spot on as every member of staff we came across from check in to serving food were so friendly, helpful and always had a smile! Food - Both dinner and breakfast were great. I'm both gluten and dairy intolerant...they have a menu for both, so I had plenty of choice and they even have a separate gluten free fryer. I didn't get ill, so they must be pretty good at food segregation in the kitchen and the food even came out with little GF / DF flags which was very reassuring. The room - this is where it went downhill a bit. Bathroom was great with a big bath with a shower over. Tea and coffee supplied in the room and even a bottle of water each. There was also a large standing fan in the room. However, the room smelled like there was cigarette smoke in the fabric of the room (certainly not recent smoke, but like it was ingrained). All my clothes have had to go in the wash since I got home. The bed had a lovely topper on it, but the mattress was long past changing as it dipped really badly and gave us both a bad back. If they sorted those two things, I'd have said it was the perfect stay.

A very enjoyable stay at The Four Horseshoes. Set in the quiet countryside. Our room was clean and had all the facilities we needed. Tom the landlord runs the place like a well oiled machine. Bravo sir! The staff were very hardworking and friendly. Cathy, Tracy and Grace looked after us and we had a particularly good banter relationship with Tracy. The food was excellent and the beer garden was a relaxing haven for us. We highly recommend this pub.

What an excellent country pub. We have a lovely steak meal and used the garden to sit outside and have a drink before retiring to our room. The staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly.Breakfast was well cooked and very enjoyable. Our room was lovely and clean but the toilet flush didn’t work as well as it should. Overall we had lovely meals and a great stay made better by the welcoming friendly and attentive staff

The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, Terri was amazing very knowledgeable and friendly. I liked how you automatically had a reserved table if you were staying over . The food and accommodation were perfect.

Beautiful old thatched property in rural Suffolk. It is meticulously maintained by the staff, who are unfailingly friendly and welcoming. Lovely Bar and Restaurant serving hearty breakfasts and an excellent daytime/dinner menu.

Even though it’s popular and can be busy for meals I’ve never known it feel crowded or the staff less than cheerful and helpful. If your staying here there’s always a table for you but if not it’s probably best to book ahead. The rooms are comfortable and nicely kept (room 21 is our favourite), serviced each morning. The Four Horseshoes is a delightful old timber framed building in a quiet spot with country walks on the doorstep. There’s easy access to the A140, the nearby town of Eye is charming and Thornham Magna itself is well placed for exploring the Suffolk countryside and towns. Have stayed a number of times over about 10 years or so - is consistently good. Staff are always friendly and helpful, food is excellent and very good local beer is available. The rooms are small but do what is needed and have always been clean. This is a proper traditional country pub and we need more of them!

The room was clean and comfortable, not at all noisy. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The team at the Four Horseshoes were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good too, large portions and a big pot of tea. We had a really relaxing break.

The staff were friendly and helpful. My room was clean with tea coffee and water. The windows opened wide which was great as it was very hot. A fan was provided in the room. There was lots o choice for breakfast though a muesli or bran flakes would have been nice. Times for evening meals were flexible and the menu was good. Even birthday cake and happy birthday sung !

Beautiful property with very friendly staff. They were great with my kids. The beds are rather old and the sofa bed provided was not comfortable for my kids.

On the plus side, warm friendly atmosphere, nice happy staff in a beautiful pub ,a great pleasure being there for 2 nights. The minus is room 27 above the gents with a noisy air hand dryer going off every few minutes in the evening.

The food was outstanding, tasty, well presented and good proportions. The experience over was lovely. I found the roof height rather low and banged my head more than enough times on the low roof beams. There are signs all over saying watch your head, but when looking down to mis the beams and another even lower one comes up, well I must say, I had a head banging time :)

Have stayed a number of times over about 10 years or so - is consistently good. Staff are always friendly and helpful, food is excellent and very good local beer is available. The rooms are small but do what is needed and have always been clean. This is a proper traditional country pub and we need more of them!

A very enjoyable stay at The Four Horseshoes. Set in the quiet countryside. Our room was clean and had all the facilities we needed. Tom the landlord runs the place like a well oiled machine. Bravo sir! The staff were very hardworking and friendly. Cathy, Tracy and Grace looked after us and we had a particularly good banter relationship with Tracy. The food was excellent and the beer garden was a relaxing haven for us. We highly recommend this pub.

A single overnight stay (with breakfast). Quaint well appointed hotel, with easy access to bedrooms via the beer garden. Polite welcoming staff. Only criticism was our evening meal was on the cold side. Chef didn’t apologise and offered a free dessert.

Everything about our stay was first class. All the staff without exception were very welcoming and friendly and could not do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. The food was also a very high standard. Would highly recommend.

The room was clean and comfortable, not at all noisy. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The team at the Four Horseshoes were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good too, large portions and a big pot of tea. We had a really relaxing break.

Wow,where do i start,great pub/restaurant,staff where amazing,food was awesome and would recommend it to everyone,staff were truly amazing,polite and made me smile,especially Tracy who recommended that i should have four meat roast and i said two meat would be ample who which it was,would definitely stay there again and already planning next trip to there,every member of staff go above and beyond and made our trip there even more memorable,thank you

The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, Terri was amazing very knowledgeable and friendly. I liked how you automatically had a reserved table if you were staying over . The food and accommodation were perfect.

A wonderful stay was had at this place which offers so much charm. My room had everything I needed and the shower was just right after a long day. Nearby are the Thornham Walks which provided a tranquil and very scenic route which covered over 4km so I got me steps in. With the location being relatively remote, I decided on eating there and was not disappointed in the slightest. The three course meal was of a high quality but very reasonably priced, as was the breakfast the next morning. The staff were all very courteous and helpful and made me fell very welcome

We stayed here for one night whilst doing the National Road Rally on our motorbikes and arrived aching and soaking wet after 300 miles of rain. Area - the pub is in a really quiet, lovely village. Parking - Plenty of free parking on a gravel (but well compacted) car park opposite the pub. Staff - Management seem to have got their recruitment spot on as every member of staff we came across from check in to serving food were so friendly, helpful and always had a smile! Food - Both dinner and breakfast were great. I'm both gluten and dairy intolerant...they have a menu for both, so I had plenty of choice and they even have a separate gluten free fryer. I didn't get ill, so they must be pretty good at food segregation in the kitchen and the food even came out with little GF / DF flags which was very reassuring. The room - this is where it went downhill a bit. Bathroom was great with a big bath with a shower over. Tea and coffee supplied in the room and even a bottle of water each. There was also a large standing fan in the room. However, the room smelled like there was cigarette smoke in the fabric of the room (certainly not recent smoke, but like it was ingrained). All my clothes have had to go in the wash since I got home. The bed had a lovely topper on it, but the mattress was long past changing as it dipped really badly and gave us both a bad back. If they sorted those two things, I'd have said it was the perfect stay.

Beautiful old thatched property in rural Suffolk. It is meticulously maintained by the staff, who are unfailingly friendly and welcoming. Lovely Bar and Restaurant serving hearty breakfasts and an excellent daytime/dinner menu.

Delighted to stay here again. Landlord Tom and his team make this a very welcoming, friendly and relaxing place to stay and / or have a meal. Even though it’s popular and can be busy for meals I’ve never known it feel crowded or the staff less than cheerful and helpful. If your staying here there’s always a table for you but if not it’s probably best to book ahead. The rooms are comfortable and nicely kept (room 21 is our favourite), serviced each morning. The Four Horseshoes is a delightful old timber framed building in a quiet spot with country walks on the doorstep. There’s easy access to the A140, the nearby town of Eye is charming and Thornham Magna itself is well placed for exploring the Suffolk countryside and towns. All in all just about the best pub-hotel I know! Looking forward to visiting it again.

It is a very good old fashioned pub in a country area. The downstairs area of the Inn with the bar and restaurant was very good, but the bedroom and toilet/ shower area was compact and had a very creaky floor.

A great location close to main roads and an easy commute to Ipswich, Norwich and the surrounding areas. Superb accomodation with very friendly staff and a fantastic range of freshly cooked food. Great range of drinks in the bar and nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Breakfast is excellent and again a greta range of food to choose from.
