Broadlind Hotel

I liked that there was a patio on site. They had a couple of games set up in the sitting area and you could open the door to the patio and listen the the live music from the restaurant across the street. I liked the contactless room entry. The parking would be better if the gate was operated by a code instead of a fob so we don’t have to fight for street parking just to get the gate key from the room. Everything was in walking distance. Bar just below the hotel. Unless you are a night owl I suggest you bring ear plugs for your stay.

This biulding should never be called a hotel. It is a trashy, old apartment building. No reception. No elevator. No phone to call. Figure everything out by text, code, and estimation. The room and hallways smell of vomit. Toilet and bathroom are so small only a toddler can use them. The breakfast voucher is fake, there is no cafe and no service whatsoever. Steep stairs that lead to another restaurant were they dump trash. If this place ever has an emergency, good luck you are trapped. There are tons of hotels all around. If you want to sleep stay somewhere else. Booming music all night in a stuffy room is no ones idea of a vacation.

It is four stories with no elevator. The wood floors throughout can be a bit noisy with wheeled luggage banging up and down the stairs. Two of the four restaurants are permanently closed which is not reflected on the description. Only the Thai restaurant and bar downstairs are open. Wonderful market right across the street to buy groceries and food. The description also indicates a twin futon in our Deluxe Bedroom Suite. Make no mistake it’s just a couch not a futon. Our main concern for fellow travelers was the bathroom. I’m 5ft and if I sit on the toilet in the closet sized bathroom my knees hit the door. A gentleman over 6ft would have to keep the door open and there is no bedroom door. No free water bottles were offered per listing. We arrived to find strange blue ice cubes in our freezer which we quickly disposed of. Could not get the oven to work. An internal fan ran in the middle of the building all hours and with all the wood floors the rooms are not sound proof. It’s a quirky vintage hotel with a lot of character my biggest complaint was banking on things that were listed and not available.

It is a bit tricky, text-only communication, and if you paid for a parking spot, you have to find parking, go up to your room to get the pass to enter the parking lot. So they shouldn’t really charge for that since it is a hassle!

I’ll start with the good:Lovely neighborhood; clean, nicely designed rooms with some dish and cookware; and free laundry facilities. The free laundry detergent had run out, but the (kinda grumpy) bldg manager met me with more. Now the bad: THE EMAILS 
Three heavily detailed check-in emails followed my booking. This hotel has no front desk, so I understand the need for the detailed notes. However, these emails were very lengthy and formatted as one enormous paragraph, which buried important info like building codes, wifi, etc. Note: The lack of formatting is likely due to sending through the Hotels.com platform, so that part may not be on the hotel itself. NO ELEVATOR Historic building=no elevator This is noted under "Accessibility" on the listing, but it should be clear for all. PARKING Parking lot is not keypad entry. We had to street park the car to retrieve the keycard for the parking lot from the room on check-in. And, my assigned spot was occupied. BATHROOM TOWELS The bath towels are tiny, barely longer than the hand towels. If you are in an even slightly bigger body, these will not wrap you. Bring your own. Also, only two bath towels were supplied to the room. For a place with no front desk or way to call for more towels, it seems they should be overstocked. CONCLUSION Is any of this the end of the world? No. Was it a truly frustrating/annoying experience? Oh, friend… YES. Will I stay here again? Despite the lovely area, free laundry, and nice room… nope.

The hotel is old but I thought it was perfect. It did have a small kitchen and a fridge. The walls were thin and we could hear everything but it did not affect us at all. It is located right in the middle of a ton of restaurants and coffee shops. You can walk everywhere. There is a bar downstairs so keep that in mind. The manager was very nice and accommodated us with the parking at the last minute. We loved the old windows and had them open the entire time we were there. This does not have an elevator so keep that in mind as we walked three floors each time. The tile in the bathroom was cracked and old however that did not bother us as everything worked. We will absolutely stay here again. The only complaint I would have it you are given a parking number to park in or you will be towed however I could not see the numbers when I parked so I parked in another spot not realizing they had numbers. I went to move my car in the morning and someone was parked in my spot. This hotel is quaint and located in a great area and I felt safe the entire time.

The parking was a little tricky at the beginning but it was handled quickly and graciously. The room was great. I wasn't aware there was no elevator so after a few rounds of three flights of stairs my legs were shaking but I got my steps in! Check in was so simple and easy, I loved it! Quiet and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back!

BED BUGS!! 3rd time I’ve stayed here, as a former Long Beach resident, when I go back for random weekends, this WAS my spot! NEVER AGAIN! I rented out one of the Penthouses and was super excited, this location is pretty perfect, as it sits right above my favorite bar, The Blind Donkey. Unfortunately, this experience was awful. My friend came over on the second night and she pointed out how itchy she was. We woke up the next day and noticed all over the white sheets, in the master bedroom, were numerous BED BUGS! It was so disgusting, I couldn’t believe it. She took about 20 pics, and there were at least 10 different bugs on the sheets and surrounding areas in the bedroom! I washed all my clothes and still had the BED BUGS in my sweat pants I wore that night & then they transferred to all my other clothes in my suitcase and they came home with me, yay 😤 I checked out on Monday after 3 days, and went to work. I was slammed all day & on Tuesday. I contacted the manager of the hotel Wednesday morning on my way to work, explaining the BED BUGS & showing pictures of them. Here was the response I received “Unfortunately this reservation had passed several days ago and there were no reported incidents during your stay. If the incident was reported during your stay, we would be happy to give you a room transfer.” Are you kidding me?! Never again will I ever stay here again. I don’t recommend anybody stay here, unless you want to have to soak all of your stuff in vinegar 😤

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you specifically want to stay in a historic building. It is just not convenient, has no amenities, the check in process and parking situation are inconvenient, you can’t sit on the toilet and actually close the bathroom door, etc etc. Rooms are big and clean though, but mine smelled like vomit.

If you like cockroaches, stay here! I ignored the other bad reviews and regretted it. Within a few hours my room was crawling with disgusting ROACHES (I took photo's despite the fact I am terrified of them). Door to my room was BROKEN and wouldn't close (I was travelling alone = security risk). Also tried to use the GAS stove and the KNOB FELL OFF (a fire hazard). I checked out a few hours after checking in. Hotel never responded to my frantic text messages. They will respond to this review saying they care deeply - yet they still have NEVER contacted me about my terrible experience. I am still fighting for a refund from Expedia - even after sending photos of the roaches and the broken door. PLEASE - there are lots of nice hotels in the area - choose somewhere else.

We did not get what we payed for, we were really disappointed with our kitchen. It was not the one displayed when we made the reservation, it was completely a different kitchen. We also had an experience with roaches ending up on our food so we had to throw away our meals, we were really upset.

The room was smelly from some old sewer system issues (the bar smelled the same -- old building). There may be little to do. We could not get into the parking without first going to the room to get the parking info, which was vague. No space number was assigned at all. No email indicated any of this, even though I did the tedious no-host sign-up on pre-paid for parking.

The rooms seemed updated however it smelled terrible like a cat litter box. We had to leave the windows open all day and night to air the smell out. As a result, we got to listen to all the traffic outside and metal chairs sliding around when they closed up the bar.

The room had a bad odor but other than that everything else was fine.

It was also very walkable and the Thai restaurant downstairs gives you a discount if you're staying at the hotel! Cons: I knew it was coming because of the reviews, but the noise from the bars downstairs was super loud. I brought ear plugs in preparation, but on Friday and Saturdays it's pretty nuts. I stayed 5 nights and those were the loudest nights. I also got a monster spider bite that required me to go to urgent care. I can't blame the hotel for this because spiders exist in the world, but I woke up the second day with it and it just grew from there. I can't help but feel a little sneezed out by it. Another thing that made me uneasy is that there's no locks on the door other than the main key card lock. No deadbolts, chain locks, etc. I'm sure it's fine, but I'm used to being able to lock the door from the inside in a hotel. They do charge a lot for parking, which I didn't know, but it's probably worth it for drivers because it's super hard to park on the street.

Clean, quiet, great AC. Bed and couch were uncomfortable.

Let’s start this off by stating that this was the worst Hotel I have ever stayed at. Although the property was decent and clean, there was absolutely no communication from the management of the property. In fact, when we arrived at the property after calling them AT LEAST 10 times about checking in early, there was a lady there who lives in one of the rooms and appeared to be a manager of the place who told us that people always struggle with getting a hold of the management and we will not be able to talk to anyone. I even asked her who the owner of the property was and their contact information so I could call them, but she insisted that “that’s not how it works here,” which made absolutely no sense to me since in their automated voicemail it literally states to leave your name and contact number so they can call you back. We eventually were able to get into our room early after paying the $45 fee, but this experience was terrible even before we got to the hotel. If I knew before booking this place that there is no reception desk on-site, I would never have come to this place. This was not made known to me and I really hope that others become more aware of this as I saw this was one of the issues in reviews of this place.

The self check in was a nightmare

Check in was awful. The online checking does NOT WORK well on mobile. After 20 min of struggles including a $200 hold that was NEVER MENTIONED during reservations, the entire registration was lost. We had to reaccomplish it all and then the app lost my parking reservation!! So when I arrived there was no way to get in the parking area. I had to find street parking, in the rain, go up to the room only to find no info on parking lot access! The building is charming the room is cute but tiny and location is nice. There is a cute bar in the basement and a wine bar next door with live jazz.

I was unable to gain entry to the hotel, so I was left stranded and had to find another hotel at the last minute. I completed their check-in form online, but never received any info on how to get into the hotel. When I arrived, the door was locked and there was nobody on-site to assist me. I called the phone number listed on the door, but it went straight to VM. I left a message but never received a call back. I texted the number on the door and they told me to resubmit the form, which I did several times, but still did not receive any info on how to check in. So I ultimately had to walk around downtown Long Beach with all of my luggage to try to find another hotel.

its old, and they only reach by text. I wasnt able to getint the room because they didnt update the code until i texted them thru hotels.com. just go to other hotel even though thet cost more also smells bad.

I showed up thursday night to find out there is no front desk or anyone to check you in, I tried doing the self check in with no luck for an hour with no one from the hotel helping me. Finally had to go to another hotel at midnight to get a room. What a disappointment as I was excited to check this place out.

The property itself is lovely, getting into the property was a horrendous and frustrating experience. The hotel requires a check in form to access a door code and room code. The form is buggy, and doesn’t work well on a mobile device. I didn’t have a laptop (on vacation!) and had to keep trying the form about ten times for it to work. The property manager kept saying there was nothing she could do and I should keep emailing the help desk. The help desk phone number was unavailable. Finally I was able to communicate via Expedia, with what seemed like a boy. I’m all for automation and the use of technology to expedite things but this process is ineffective and infuriating. We noticed others having similar experiences while checking in. I hope that something will be done to help future patrons have a more streamlined experience.

We have the same complaint as others, we drove 4 hours after a last minute booking to find we required additional check in (outside the app), a deposit and costly parking reservation to receive the codes at a contact-less hotel. The email arrived as we pulled into the location. There is no one physical to talk to even by phone - to help expedite this, so we did our online check in, paid the deposit - somehow linked to my bank - which I did not like and paid for parking but had to wait another 2 hours for the parking code. Kinda sucked sitting in my car at some parking lot down the street after such a drive trying to resolve. Never had this issue before.

Loved the location and convenience to the convention center. I also appreciated the gated, easy parking, and the spacious unit. However, it had an odor, the beds were very uncomfortable, the fridge didnt have ice and water connected, and there isnt an elevator in the bldg.

Misleading! This is only self check in which is a pain in the ass if you don’t realize this before you get there. There is absolutely no communication, you cannot speak with a human. There is no front desk if you have any issues. It is a complete lie about the breakfast voucher, there is no breakfast, and the excuse they used was the pandemic which has been over with for years. Every time I sat on the bed it felt like it was gonna break. There’s a bar underneath the hotel which is very loud. You have to pay for parking and they won’t let you stay past 11 or they. Threaten to tell your car. Very unhappy with this place.

We were here for a conference and it’s the perfect location. Simple checkin and charming room. Water’s Edge Winery was a plus after the conference!
