Booked an overnight stay before flying from Luton airport. Large free carpark for guests. Restaurant was excellent and very busy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was large and very quirky - the wardrobe was a shower cubicle (presumably to preserve the look of the beams) and the toilet door similar. Overall, very comfortable and pleasant stay in an old coaching inn at amazing value.

This is a lovely little pub/restaurant in a picturesque village. Staff were very friendly, but were very busy, so took a short while to get booked in. The room was lovely, especially with the standalone bath, and a comfy bed. We did not eat there, as we had a prior booking, but the restaurant was full for the majority of the time we were there for drinks. It was good to have parking at the back too as street parking was quite difficult. Lovely stay

Fantastic old coach house beautifully renovated but keeping the 500 year features. Food was fabulous and the staff helpful and lovely. Set in a beautiful traditional English village.

Close to motorway but tucked away from any noise. Large car park, large pub and lots of amenities on your doorstep. Limited Internet was my only problem but it may have been due to the storm.

Everything about The Wellington is superb. Before I arrived the manager called me to see if I wanted any food prepared as I would be arriving late. Breakfast and dinner were excellent - if you're vegetarian order the arancini. It's worth the visit just for this! Room was beautiful and cleaned every morning. The manager tried to book me a cab on the last day of my visit - but snow meant I was unlikely to get to my meeting on time so the owner drove me there. I'd love to return soon!

Took three rooms here whilst we attended a local wedding. The Inn has real character and is good value for money. The staff are very friendly. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and the food we excellent. Everything we ordered was really good and the chef know what he was doing. Breakfast was substantial and also very good. Highly recommended.

Lovely room in the centre of Welwyn . The pub offers good food and the welcome was warm and informative. The room was we stayed in was no 6 at the top of the establishment. The bed was very comfortable. The light was broken above the bath so we could not have that on but it is an open plan room , so did not worry us.

We stayed for 2 nights in Room 3 which was beautiful, 11th century beams, large sleigh bed, slipper bath, en suite toilet. Clean, comfortable, nice toiletries, kettle and coffee maker, selection of teas etc. Lovely view of village and church. Breakfast delicious, dinner lovely also. Great place to stay. Good selection of wines, spirits and cocktails. Felt very luxurious and a real treat. Would happily stay again.

We booked The Wellington for our wedding night. The staff were wonderful, incredibly attentive, helpful and discrete. Our room was not only beautiful, quiet and spotless but Ellie, the manager had arranged a welcome bouquet of flowers and petals across our bed. It was really touching. The general ambience is cozy and intimate. Breakfast was included and was spectacular. Thank you to everyone at The Wellington for the perfect hospitality.

Room was lovely and well designed to preserve the original building. If you want toilet privacy from your other guest I wouldn’t recommend it! The food was good for breakfast but the pub dining area needs a good clean as there was an unpleasant smell around the entrance. WiFi in the rooms was ok.

Needed a place to stay overnight. Found this really lovely place in well close to motorway. Our room had real character with creaky floor boards and beams in the bedroom and bathroom. Well decorated. Awesome breakfast included in the price.

As someone who travels for work every single week, it's easy to become jaded to the usual fair of 3 and 4 star hotels out there. Not so on this occasion; I'm happy to say that of the 20+ hotels I've stayed in this year the Wellington is, if not the greatest of the lot, certainly in the top 3. The rooms are stunning, traditionally cosy whilst being simultaneously modern and spacious. How these rooms are so cheap I'll never know, but I'm grateful they are as my employer wouldn't have footed the bill otherwise! Of course, any stay can be made or broken by the quality of food; luckily, the standard of food perfectly matches that of the rooms, and I enjoyed two of the most enjoyable meals I've had for over a month during my stay. Whilst there was a significant delay to my meal as they were short staffed the 2nd night, this was made up for by the deliciousness of my meal, the politeness of the staff and the free drink offered by way of apology. Needless to say, I will absolutely be staying again in future, and wholeheartedly look forward to it!

We have just returned from a really lovely 2 night stay at the Wellington. The whole weekend from start to finish was very special and made even better by the staff. Particular mention must go to Ellie who managed a problem for us that was our fault but she went above and beyond to help us work it out. Callum is an absolute ray of sunshine, please don’t ever lose your sparkle and a big thank you to Isaac who carried on in Ellie‘s absence continuing to resolve our problem with great efficiency. All of the waiting staff were a credit to the hotel. We ate in the restaurant for dinner on the first night and enjoyed the breakfast in the mornings. All the food was delicious and we really couldn’t fault any aspect of our meals so congratulations to the kitchen and the chef. The rooms are beautifully and thoughtfully designed and our only issue was one which can’t be avoided and that was the fact that the road outside tends to be quite busy but it does quieten down during the hours when you would be wanting to sleep. We have been looking at the events at the nearby Hatfield House and would happily consider staying again if we fancy attending any of them. Thank you again to everyone at the Wellington. You really did make our stay very special.

All the food was delicious and we really couldn’t fault any aspect of our meals so congratulations to the kitchen and the chef. The rooms are beautifully and thoughtfully designed and our only issue was one which can’t be avoided and that was the fact that the road outside tends to be quite busy but it does quieten down during the hours when you would be wanting to sleep. We have been looking at the events at the nearby Hatfield House and would happily consider staying again if we fancy attending any of them. Thank you again to everyone at the Wellington. You really did make our stay very special.

Visited to meet family in town where my husband used to live. Ellie checked us in quickly. Room 6 in the attic was fabulous. Lots of great touches, shampoo etc, hair dryer, Christmas stocking decoration hanging on the wall. We returned at 9pm and they were closed but Seb? let us in and served us a round of drinks while he cashed up. Terrific will visit again

Everything about The Wellington is superb. Before I arrived the manager called me to see if I wanted any food prepared as I would be arriving late. Breakfast and dinner were excellent - if you're vegetarian order the arancini. It's worth the visit just for this! Room was beautiful and cleaned every morning. The manager tried to book me a cab on the last day of my visit - but snow meant I was unlikely to get to my meeting on time so the owner drove me there. I'd love to return soon!

Needed a place to stay overnight. Found this really lovely place in well close to motorway. Our room had real character with creaky floor boards and beams in the bedroom and bathroom. Well decorated. Awesome breakfast included in the price.

We stayed for 2 nights in Room 3 which was beautiful, 11th century beams, large sleigh bed, slipper bath, en suite toilet. Clean, comfortable, nice toiletries, kettle and coffee maker, selection of teas etc. Lovely view of village and church. Breakfast delicious, dinner lovely also. Great place to stay. Good selection of wines, spirits and cocktails. Felt very luxurious and a real treat. Would happily stay again.

This is a lovely little pub/restaurant in a picturesque village. Staff were very friendly, but were very busy, so took a short while to get booked in. The room was lovely, especially with the standalone bath, and a comfy bed. We did not eat there, as we had a prior booking, but the restaurant was full for the majority of the time we were there for drinks. It was good to have parking at the back too as street parking was quite difficult. Lovely stay

Close to motorway but tucked away from any noise. Large car park, large pub and lots of amenities on your doorstep. Limited Internet was my only problem but it may have been due to the storm.

Booked an overnight stay before flying from Luton airport. Large free carpark for guests. Restaurant was excellent and very busy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was large and very quirky - the wardrobe was a shower cubicle (presumably to preserve the look of the beams) and the toilet door similar. Overall, very comfortable and pleasant stay in an old coaching inn at amazing value.

A real hidden gem in a beautiful 14th century building with picturesque views over a quaint church. Thoughtfully furnished in a way that feels modern and clean with a more than a careful eye towards the building’s heritage. Very comfortable four poster bed and always lovely to have a freestanding bath in a room. Appreciated the good selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, as well as extras like bath salts, plenty of towels and cushions, etc. Plenty of ambient lighting, nice curtains, very quiet so got a good night’s sleep. Had perhaps once of the best cooked veggie breakfasts in a long time in the morning and staff at check in, breakfast and check out were all very helpful, thorough and friendly. Need an excuse to come back now!

As someone who travels for work every single week, it's easy to become jaded to the usual fair of 3 and 4 star hotels out there. Not so on this occasion; I'm happy to say that of the 20+ hotels I've stayed in this year the Wellington is, if not the greatest of the lot, certainly in the top 3. The rooms are stunning, traditionally cosy whilst being simultaneously modern and spacious. How these rooms are so cheap I'll never know, but I'm grateful they are as my employer wouldn't have footed the bill otherwise! Of course, any stay can be made or broken by the quality of food; luckily, the standard of food perfectly matches that of the rooms, and I enjoyed two of the most enjoyable meals I've had for over a month during my stay. Whilst there was a significant delay to my meal as they were short staffed the 2nd night, this was made up for by the deliciousness of my meal, the politeness of the staff and the free drink offered by way of apology. Needless to say, I will absolutely be staying again in future, and wholeheartedly look forward to it!

Room was lovely and well designed to preserve the original building. If you want toilet privacy from your other guest I wouldn’t recommend it! The food was good for breakfast but the pub dining area needs a good clean as there was an unpleasant smell around the entrance. WiFi in the rooms was ok.

Took three rooms here whilst we attended a local wedding. The Inn has real character and is good value for money. The staff are very friendly. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and the food we excellent. Everything we ordered was really good and the chef know what he was doing. Breakfast was substantial and also very good. Highly recommended.

Attractive, historic pub hotel, well located with its own carpark. Bar/check in staff very helpful and efficient. Exceptional attention to detail throughout. Very good breakfast menu and good cooked breakfast. As it's a very old building, there are many small steps to negotiate and no lift.

Very accommodating when we arrived early for our room. Cleaner gave us time to change in there before going to a wedding and leave our luggage there also. Extremely helpful staff all round.

The room itself was absolutely fantastic and I can’t fault the staff or the breakfast. However there were a number of items in our room that were broken, one of which was quite dangerous! a light switch on the side of the bed which had a bare wire, if anyone was staying here with a younger child they could stick their fingers in there and get a nasty shock! Also, a lot of the furniture is quite tired and whilst the bath was lovely, you couldn’t actually turn the cold tap off completely as it just span round and round leaving a dripping noise when you were trying to relax in the bath. Overall a lovely hotel but could do with some maintenance.
