Terrible way finding signage. If you arrive after 4pm you have no chance of finding your way around. Impossible to find the reception. The details sent are incorrect as the reception area has changed. The breakfast rooms lacks any atmosphere and is quite simply, depressing.

2 night stay, there was no restaurant facilities available after 17.30 on the first night so had to dine early. Second night dined at the local pub. Only 1 teabag each night! Rooms quiet which would be expected in the middle of a golf course in winter. Nothing to do on the complex probably due to the time of year.

Lovely property and very beautiful. Amenities are a bit old and need to be updated. Service is very good and very pleasant and helpful staff. Plumbing and electrical seems to have issues.

Had a one night stay here on a business trip, in a lovely rural setting on a golf course, everything was good, staff, service, food, room comfort. a little expensive but very nice.

Misleading information on dining amenities. Lists with 2 restaurants open for all 3 meals. There was no indication that their main restaurant was closed and the other restaurant closed at 5 pm. I had to email to find this out. I would not have booked if I knew I could not eat or drink past 5 pm. The recommendation was a pub nearby. It is a very overly priced 1-night stay for a place with no dinner options or room service.

The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. The lodge is a separate building from the clubhouse where tasty breakfast and evening meal were served. Thankfully, the weather was kind and the walk between both buildings pleasant. The staff were particularly friendly and welcoming.

Room was pretty large but some slight issues. Curtains weren't black out so lights outside made it quite difficult to get to sleep. Radiator was on full blast so was incredibly hot when arrived. Sheets on the bed were stained.

This place is set in the most beautiful surroundings and the staff are wonderful, it was really clean and comfortable. The place has so much potential however am not sure I would go back at the moment. Our room decor really felt tired with a few things missing and certainly wouldn’t put it into the ‘luxury’ category, however the price bracket certainly is!

It was very difficult to find the lodge. For some reason it’s not labelled as Melbourne Lodge. If they’d have told me it is the old stables then I’d have probably found it easier. It’s also concerning how fast people were driving around in their golf carts. One guy was going so fast that he actually skidded on the driveway when he tried to turn the corner. I was walking my dog at the time so it’s very disconcerting. The bed was very comfortable. It was hard in the room though because they left the curtains open and all the heat from the sun came into the room. Fortunately, they did provide a fan. The hand tail had an undesirable hair on it, so that was a bit gross. The whole place is basically a golf course so I get the impression that their golf course is more important to them than the lodgings. The grounds are beautiful, but it’s a bit confusing as to wear you’re allowed to take your dog and what is the golf course and what is an actual footpath.

Very limited instructions on arrival. The deluxe room was very tired looking holes in a dirty and threadbare carpet - unable to use bath or shower as the entry is very deep and even deeper getting out. Room very clean tho - no instructions as to wifi or times of breakfast. Charged an extortionate £50 for a small dog - one night! Amazing breakfast and fast service

Threadbare carpets and fittings are from the 80’s, there are no USB points and no air conditioning. Fortunately the weather was cool but a hot summers day would be a different story. I would stay here again but a full modern refit would make it an amazing place to stay. Finally, for those with an electric car there is a charge point close to the rooms.

Reading some of the reviews ahead of our visit, we were a little concerned after we’d made our booking but we needn’t have been concerned! The staff we met with during our stay were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Our room, although it looked a little tired, it was very spacious, clean and comfortable - and served its purpose for exactly what we needed (just an overnight stay whilst we visited friends in the area). Whilst some refurbishment is needed of the bedroom and bathroom, we found the cost we paid for the room reflected this, so did not feel we were overcharged for something we didn’t receive. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the area extremely quiet! We enjoyed our stay…just wish the weather had been better so we could walk around and enjoy the grounds!!

1st room was incredibly cold, so switched to a 2nd room. The room is larger than most hotel rooms but suffered from maintenance issues and room was poorly maintained. I was expecting a better than average hotel room and the room didn’t match expectations. The shower was poor and missed the body due to never being descaled, one of the sinks was broken and the radiators are very poor so would avoid in winter. Holes in curtains and rips in wallpaper, this is not what I would of expected from a place of this stature.

Very enjoyable stay for a couple of nights. Had a single bed room that was more than ample. Nice and warm, good amenities, nice hot water and good water pressure. Very friendly staff, breakfast options were great and well made. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back.

It was very difficult to find the lodge. For some reason it’s not labelled as Melbourne Lodge. If they’d have told me it is the old stables then I’d have probably found it easier. It’s also concerning how fast people were driving around in their golf carts. One guy was going so fast that he actually skidded on the driveway when he tried to turn the corner. I was walking my dog at the time so it’s very disconcerting. The bed was very comfortable. It was hard in the room though because they left the curtains open and all the heat from the sun came into the room. Fortunately, they did provide a fan. The hand tail had an undesirable hair on it, so that was a bit gross. The whole place is basically a golf course so I get the impression that their golf course is more important to them than the lodgings. The grounds are beautiful, but it’s a bit confusing as to wear you’re allowed to take your dog and what is the golf course and what is an actual footpath.

The Melbourne Lodge delivers 1st Class Service in an Old World setting. A Golfers paradise which neither of us were but still relaxing and great service in an idyllic, off the beaten track Manor House. I thought the value was incredible for the luxurious room and botanical wonderland and would come back even though I’d have to fly across the pond to get here.

Lovely room but not easy to find arriving after dark and an absolute faff having to check in at one building to then drive to another building to find room and then have to do again in the morning

Amazing location, very quiet and rural close to the lake. The property whilst comfortable and clean desperately needs a refurb. Threadbare carpets and fittings are from the 80’s, there are no USB points and no air conditioning. Fortunately the weather was cool but a hot summers day would be a different story. I would stay here again but a full modern refit would make it an amazing place to stay. Finally, for those with an electric car there is a charge point close to the rooms.

The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. The lodge is a separate building from the clubhouse where tasty breakfast and evening meal were served. Thankfully, the weather was kind and the walk between both buildings pleasant. The staff were particularly friendly and welcoming.

Reading some of the reviews ahead of our visit, we were a little concerned after we’d made our booking but we needn’t have been concerned! The staff we met with during our stay were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Our room, although it looked a little tired, it was very spacious, clean and comfortable - and served its purpose for exactly what we needed (just an overnight stay whilst we visited friends in the area). Whilst some refurbishment is needed of the bedroom and bathroom, we found the cost we paid for the room reflected this, so did not feel we were overcharged for something we didn’t receive. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the area extremely quiet! We enjoyed our stay…just wish the weather had been better so we could walk around and enjoy the grounds!!

2 night stay, there was no restaurant facilities available after 17.30 on the first night so had to dine early. Second night dined at the local pub. Only 1 teabag each night! Rooms quiet which would be expected in the middle of a golf course in winter. Nothing to do on the complex probably due to the time of year.

Very enjoyable stay for a couple of nights. Had a single bed room that was more than ample. Nice and warm, good amenities, nice hot water and good water pressure. Very friendly staff, breakfast options were great and well made. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back.

Misleading information on dining amenities. Lists with 2 restaurants open for all 3 meals. There was no indication that their main restaurant was closed and the other restaurant closed at 5 pm. I had to email to find this out. I would not have booked if I knew I could not eat or drink past 5 pm. The recommendation was a pub nearby. It is a very overly priced 1-night stay for a place with no dinner options or room service.

It’s a beautiful location, in the middle of a gated estate with beautiful grounds and a golf course to boot. The reception is a short drive through the estate next to the first tee. Reception staff were welcoming and lovely. Plenty of room to park your car. We stayed in the Melbourne lodge, on the ground floor, the Nijinsky room, which is a large room with a king size bed. The bathroom had two sinks which was handy. But the room looked very tired. The carpet didn’t look clean, plenty of small stains all over it, I would say it needs replacing. The bathroom had a leaking tap, which had been leaking for some time. The room needs painting. If anyone stays at this lodge, you need to request a room on the 2nd floor, as the floorboards creek a lot, it will keep you awake if anyone walks on them. You can clearly hear what’s happening in the rooms above and adjacent to your room.

Booked two nights without a working shower. On the first night I realised the shower didn’t work. In the morning I informed reception and was told this would be dealt with. When I returned to the property they said it was fixed but it wasn’t. Room was incredibly dated and the sinks in the bathroom either didn’t work or were very difficult to turn off.
