Why not stay the night in a cute little cabin with a wide porch in the woods instead of a standard hotel? The staff is super nice and helpful, and our room is clean and comfortable. We had a picnic on the porch after our tour of Mount Rushmore which is only 4 miles away. Highly recommended!

Check-in was a breeze, perfect location on the edge of downtown. Not walking distance but just a short drive to all the shops and restaurants. Cabin 2 is freestanding w a little porch and 2 queens. Shower pressure is awesome! Only suggestion is bring your own pillows

Very basic cabin, but the lighting was terrible. Didn’t get a great feeling when I arrived with two dirty washcloths left on the outside table. Parking was also a challenge up a steep gravel drive and no room to turn around on a motorcycle.

Overall, not a bad stay pictures were not the property that we had rented be cautious of that showers. Probably need a little bit more cleaning as they were dirty other than that reasonably priced to stay.

We loved the cabin we stayed in at Holy Smoke. The woman who checked us in was very knowledgeable and was always reachable by phone. Everything was clean and accommodating. I liked that they would trade out your linens every morning when you needed them to and the location was close to Historic Keystone. It was nice and quiet as well.

Everything was so dated in the room. Very strong smell was in the room even after opening windows. Bedding was not fresh .wash clothes were ripped. No bedside outlets . Rest room did not have exhaust fan.

The lodges are nice but seem a little dated now, the place is clean comfortable and the staff are very nice and helpful. So we enjoyed our stay. However the WiFi was so flaky that the TV kept cutting out let alone our devices. This was not great given we are from the UK and roaming charges are high.

This is a very nice close location to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. The cabin was very clean and looked great. We also had a decent view of the hills around the area. We could drive to town in less than 2 minutes for the main shopping area in Keystone. The TV was quite small and barely worked. It would freeze up constantly on pretty much every channel. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Two nights in it was pretty rough for our backs, and I'm usually pretty good with just about any bed. We actually considered sleeping in the car. A second luggage rack or small counter would be nice because there weren't many places to put anything.

The property and cabins were recently renovated or built and they were very clean. The front office is very friendly and helpful. Our cabin like several others, was attached and under the same roof as a second larger cabin, separated by a wall and locked door on the inside. The first night we listened to the high pitch of the refrigerator as it cycled on and off. The second night, when a family moved into the second half of the cabin, we could hear every conversation they had as well as every sound they made. (NOTE - they were not being loud - just normal conversation and noises. Just everything came through the wall and door very clearly.) This on top of the refrigerator noise caused us to checkout early. We would stay there again, but would ask for one of the older single family cabins.

Cozy cabins. Beautiful views. Really close to Keystone if that’s where most of your attractions are for your trip. One thing to note: the WiFi was a bit spotty. If you plan to do some work here and there then bring a personal hotspot. But other than that, loved my stay!

The cabin was clean and neat. However the bed was terrible. It was lumpy and very soft. We had a very hard time sleeping on it. It’s hard to believe anyone would find this an ideal bed or more than marginally acceptable at best. Also, in taking a shower we ran out of hot water once. In taking our next showers we waited a couple of hours after the last person showered before the next person showered (in order for the tank to refill). You shouldn’t have to do this. The room was very clean and had a beautiful deck with table and chairs. I loved the fact that it was like camping with the nature of it all without the fuss. The only reason I gave it a 4 was because of the noise of the shower next door. We got a cabin that was attached to another and when they took a shower the next morning it was really loud.

This resort was not what I expected I read the reviews before I booked but let me tell you it’s not all what they say first the coffee pot was broken second the fitted sheet kept coming off so I was sleeping on plastic third the shower is very small and no water pressure fourth the walls are so thin you can hear everything from the cabin next door and the people next to us kept talking so we couldn’t sleep or get rest if you want peace and quiet do not rent those cabins pay a little extra and stay in a nice hotel even if you have to travel to get to Mount Rushmore

Great location in proximity to Mt. Rushmore. Stay was cozy. I had a hard time sainting adequate heat/cooling even though there’s a heater and AC unit inside of the cabin. Was either too hot or too cold. Lastly their free WiFi was absolutely TERRIBLE. I couldn’t send pictures or messages so had to get off their WiFi and use my data plan to send. Please note this is a very small town, so stop and get all necessary groceries for these cabins, or of course go out to eat. There’s a freezer/fridge/microwave/coffee maker available. Little 2 seater table to eat and my unit had a patio with a picnic table outside on the patio.

Everything was going well until we heard a little mouse rummaging through our stuff. This went on for 3 hours. We tried calling but the call would not go through. We told the manager the next day. She said she didn’t get our call. And told us she hadn’t received a complaint like this for this room.

This property went above our expectations! Not only a convenient location but so very pretty! Lynette at the front office was so friendly and helpful, such a great first person to meet at the property! We will definitely be coming back in the future!

The staff was extremely friendly. We actually got an upgrade from the duplex to the historical cabin. Good location to Custer State Park. Remember to bring cooking/eating utensils and papertowels, if you bring your own little grill or food. There is a microwave and refrigerator.

Small cozy good viber but could be more organized. Information sharing should be more specific esp. for thise checking in after 8pm. If only there would be lights where the cottage signs are at night, it wiuld be helpful. Check out is at 10am and but the office hour is 12pm onwards we didn tknow where to drop the keys so we left a VM. It’s a good property but information sharing could he improved

Small cozy good viber but could be more organized. Information sharing should be more specific esp. for thise checking in after 8pm. If only there would be lights where the cottage signs are at night, it wiuld be helpful. Check out is at 10am and but the office hour is 12pm onwards we didn tknow where to drop the keys so we left a VM. It’s a good property but information sharing could he improved

Excellent little cabin close to Mount Rushmore. Made a lovely change from staying in a hotel room. Enjoyed sitting outside watching nature. Would definitely stay again. Having two separate bedrooms was also a bonus whilst travelling with a teenager.

We loved the cabin we stayed in at Holy Smoke. The woman who checked us in was very knowledgeable and was always reachable by phone. Everything was clean and accommodating. I liked that they would trade out your linens every morning when you needed them to and the location was close to Historic Keystone. It was nice and quiet as well.

The cabin was very cozy and comfortable. It was right in the vicinity of Custer State Park and Mt Rushmore. The town was very charming; wish we had mre time to explore the area.

This place was absolutely adorable! There were only a couple of things I would suggest. Not enough light, it could use another lamp. Too few plugs available. In this day and age, you have to accommodate your customers, and that means adding electrical plugs. A ceiling fan would also be nice, but isnt a necessity. The only other thing is that a hotel never charges their customers for ice. They charge 5.00 for a tiny bag of ice. Would definitely stay again!! With a lamp. Lol

Very steep drive up to cabin so doing in the light first would be recommended so you are familar with where you are headed. Shower had great pressure. We stayed in the duplex cabin. We Wish it had two steps entrances on deck- we were the ones on the far end so had to keep crossing over neighbors table area, front entrance, etc and we both had dogs so that was a challenge to cross over each other all the time and kind of weird to walk thru them every time you leave your room- had to move their table and chairs over to be able walk through with luggage.
