I never received correspondence telling me how to gain access to the property (code to unlock the front door), where to find towels or how to navigate the television remote controls. I was lucky enough to run into another guest, who told me to check my spam folder for a message containing these and other details. Alas, no message was received. I did get a text with a screen shot containing the access code, but nothing else of value. I did, however, receive the news that the water heater was not working. The offer to allow me to cancel without charge was not comforting, considering it got to my phone as I arrived at the property. All of which made the fact that I could not lock the door to my room not surprising at all. So, except for the absence of a code to enter the property, the inability to lock my room, the lack of warm water and no idea how to use the tv, everything was fine.

We really enjoyed our stay in Art and Lodging except for one thing. There wasn’t a curtain over the small door window. The room was quite bright from the light in the hallway. Otherwise we liked the set up. We didn’t take a shower so not sure how it felt to walk down the hallway after the shower. The sink and toilet in the room was perfect. We took advantage of the coffee and breakfast bars in the morning. Also enjoyed the brewery that’s walkable to the lodge. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful home, easy self-check in, spacious room (thankfully blue room had private bath as I didn't even think that this might not be an option. Lol), well equipped kitchen if needed, and everything appeared to be well cleaned and taken care of. Will gladly stay here again.

Beautiful historic house. Room was large and very comfortable. The check-in instructions were great to help me get in my room. I was only staying for one and got it late so being able to get in myself and not have to disturb anyone or wait on anytime was much appreciated. I loved making myself an omelet in the morning in the incredibly clean and well-stocked kitchen. My only suggestion would be to add the parking photo by the door to the check-in instructions. I didn’t see the sign until I was on my way out and that would have been helpful as I arrived. Great experience overall.

We loved the atmosphere. Our room was clean and efficient. The location, in relation to other locations in South Bend, was superior. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were great.

This property is beautiful!! Well maintained and a good location. The property managers are great too. My major problem: The yellow room had these orange/red curtains. As soon as the sun came up. The whole room was brighter than the sun because of the hue from the curtains letting the light come in. Big problem: Zero hot water. I only put my head under the shower head because the hot water was completely gone. It was the coldest shower of my life. Problem: Some dude did dishes for like 40 minutes in the morning at like 830am with no regard for anyone in the house who was sleeping. He was extremely loud! The house was beautiful and in a great location, but all i wanted was sleep. I arrived late from the casino and just wanted a good night's rest. I maybe got like 3 hours sleep at most. I was praying for a hot shower to wake up. No luck there. It was a long day after all that. --The bed was very hard as well. Would've been a 10/10 if not for these things.

Our stay at Art and Lodging was comfortable, clean, quiet, and inexpensive. Of course, the particular guests who are using the other three bedrooms while you are there will vary and their behavior can't be predicted, but the owners/hosts were accessible and friendly, and we were lucky enough to have quiet co-guests. There is plenty of space in the big common areas, and we took advantage of the "gallery", the kitchen (chalkboard art!), and both the front and back porches. We also took a pleasant stroll around the neighborhood and learned a little history about the nearby memorial church, Oliver mansion, and public natatorium. Very nice.

A beautifully restored home, this space also is located in a neighborhood within walking distance of the Oliver Mansion, the IU Civil Rights heritage center and some fine restaurants. A small place (only 8 guests at a time), this home has been meticulously up-dated, is clean, with a comfortable bed and a room heater which was just right on a cool evening. Our room had a half bath attached, with a full bathroom just down the hall. Our only concern was running out of warm water in the shower after a fairly short shower. Available snacks, a shared kitchen (well-equipped) and an easy-to-manage entry, along with a helpful text with parking, entrance and hospitality details made this simple to enjoy! We were coming to visit my brother and family in South Bend, and we thought to try out a new venue rather than simply a hotel. We're very glad we did. This house is beautiful, literally an art gallery and a living gem. In spite of some miscommunication between Hotels.com and the property (didn't get an email for the code to unlock the door due to a break in communication between Hotels.com and the property) we got in contact very quickly with the property manager and were delighted with the interior of the house. We wish we had more time to simply sit and take in the entire place. Our room was clean and well-maintained. If you love older houses in South Bend, you will not be disappointed here at Art and Lodging. It was also very quiet, a nice place to relax and enjoy the ambience.

Older home that has benn completely updated from top to bottom. Super clean and nice. We was there in December 20 degree outside. Orange room is a little drafty. A heater is provided. May want to bring a extra blanket. Would i stay here again? Definitely would this place is so cool

An amazing atmosphere and the way the house was setup, it was beautiful. The blue room we stayed in was having work done to the wall that wasn't finished. Other than that an amazing stay

I never received correspondence telling me how to gain access to the property (code to unlock the front door), where to find towels or how to navigate the television remote controls. I was lucky enough to run into another guest, who told me to check my spam folder for a message containing these and other details. Alas, no message was received. I did get a text with a screen shot containing the access code, but nothing else of value. I did, however, receive the news that the water heater was not working. The offer to allow me to cancel without charge was not comforting, considering it got to my phone as I arrived at the property. All of which made the fact that I could not lock the door to my room not surprising at all. So, except for the absence of a code to enter the property, the inability to lock my room, the lack of warm water and no idea how to use the tv, everything was fine.

We were coming to visit my brother and family in South Bend, and we thought to try out a new venue rather than simply a hotel. We're very glad we did. This house is beautiful, literally an art gallery and a living gem. In spite of some miscommunication between Hotels.com and the property (didn't get an email for the code to unlock the door due to a break in communication between Hotels.com and the property) we got in contact very quickly with the property manager and were delighted with the interior of the house. We wish we had more time to simply sit and take in the entire place. Our room was clean and well-maintained. If you love older houses in South Bend, you will not be disappointed here at Art and Lodging. It was also very quiet, a nice place to relax and enjoy the ambience.

Beautiful historic house. Room was large and very comfortable. The check-in instructions were great to help me get in my room. I was only staying for one and got it late so being able to get in myself and not have to disturb anyone or wait on anytime was much appreciated. I loved making myself an omelet in the morning in the incredibly clean and well-stocked kitchen. My only suggestion would be to add the parking photo by the door to the check-in instructions. I didn’t see the sign until I was on my way out and that would have been helpful as I arrived. Great experience overall.

Our stay at Art and Lodging was comfortable, clean, quiet, and inexpensive. Of course, the particular guests who are using the other three bedrooms while you are there will vary and their behavior can't be predicted, but the owners/hosts were accessible and friendly, and we were lucky enough to have quiet co-guests. There is plenty of space in the big common areas, and we took advantage of the "gallery", the kitchen (chalkboard art!), and both the front and back porches. We also took a pleasant stroll around the neighborhood and learned a little history about the nearby memorial church, Oliver mansion, and public natatorium. Very nice.

A beautifully restored home, this space also is located in a neighborhood within walking distance of the Oliver Mansion, the IU Civil Rights heritage center and some fine restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay in Art and Lodging except for one thing. There wasn’t a curtain over the small door window. The room was quite bright from the light in the hallway. Otherwise we liked the set up. We didn’t take a shower so not sure how it felt to walk down the hallway after the shower. The sink and toilet in the room was perfect. We took advantage of the coffee and breakfast bars in the morning. Also enjoyed the brewery that’s walkable to the lodge. Would definitely stay there again.

I only was there for about 7hrs, as I drove in from the Ann Arbor area for an early morning tournament. The price was right. Just enough space for me. And it was a beautifully decorated historic home. Plus it was convenient to the Century Center.

Beautiful home, easy self-check in, spacious room (thankfully blue room had private bath as I didn't even think that this might not be an option. Lol), well equipped kitchen if needed, and everything appeared to be well cleaned and taken care of. Will gladly stay here again.

The ad in hotel. com said it was a bed and breakfast. Nope - bed but if you wanted food you brought your own. I was supposed to get a code to gain entry - nope. Fortunately I ran into the guy who owns the place and he managed to get the code sent. The house is comfortable - bathroom down the hall and another on the main floor. There is coffee - Keurig but coffee. I spilled a little on the staircase and went to clean it - and discovered the stairs have not been cleaned in a while. Lovely house - friendly people - but a long way from being competitive. For someone who wants a quiet place for three or four days, willing to shop - this could be a great place. I had flown in for a funeral so had no car- it wasn't bad but a long way from good.

The kitchen had everything you would ever need to cook a meal, pantry space for goods and a full size fridge. There was complimentary coffee pods and some snacks which was nice. The parking was ample on the street during my stay. The rest of the house was beautiful but during this trip I was not really there to enjoy any of the lounge areas. The area where the house was located was quaint and historic and I never felt unsafe as a single traveler. The room had ample space for stuff and a large closet and the 1/2 bath inside the room was nice to have for privacy. The. only knock I would have is that the thermostat is locked by passcode so when I arrived at the end of the day to go to bed the house was over 80 degrees and the room was so hot. I would prefer to be able to just adjust a thermostat but fortunately I did have a number for the owner and texted them and they turned on the AC within a couple of minutes. It just took a long while to cool down and trying to sleep was a little difficult that one night. Overall it was a really nice place to stay and convenient to ND and other areas of South Bend and the house itself was gorgeous with all of the historical woodwork, HUGE pocket door, and beautiful foyer entry doors but I am in that business and recognize those things. Charming staircase in the back from the bedrooms directly to the kitchen was also nice.
